“Lions for Lambs” Plot Summary
Injuries sustained by two Army ranger behind enemy lines in Afghanistan set off a sequence of events involving a congressman, a journalist and a professor.
Simple but strong
An excellent plot line, brilliantly directed, great cast, not one of Tom’s best performances, but non the less impeccable. The underlying critique of the severe levels of apathy we face in society nowadays is so subtle that it screams a wake up call. All Redford fans will surely be delighted as this is definitely one of his best pieces. I loved the way he approached the subject, which in it self is not an easy one to develop under the circumstances and what fascinates me is that the movie is so fluid, mind opening, non-invasive and easy to grasp that it almost leaves you with the impression that anyone could have done it, which of course is far from the truth. I think this should be a mandatory classroom video for both high school and college students alike, because everyone can benefit from the psychological momentum this movie captures and conveys so beautifully.

A Wonderful Love Story!
I mean that sincerely. It’s obvious to me the two male soldiers in this movie are in love with each other! Whether they were lovers is another matter, left to one’s imagination. Why do I come to this conclusion? It’s based on a pattern of events. First body language. These two men are extremely comfortable being in close proximity to each other. In the college debate scene both young men were in perfect sync when speaking. They make a major life change together when they decide to join the army. On the helicopter they were joyously playing agility games with their hands. When one falls out of the helicopter at a great height, the other consciously decides to jump out after him. Most importantly, their final dramatic scene is downright romantic! How many of us would give up our lives in such a way unless we were in love? To put it mildly, this is a brave and gutsy film!This provocative story is also a call to action! I’m personally afraid of our current Executive Branch of the Federal government. Something that dampens my enthusiasm for political action. I believe we Americans are being ruled by a bunch of lunatics with agendas we will never totally understand. While the dialog between the smart aleck college student and the wizened professor is more about this student’s contempt and cynicism, reading between the lines, it’s also about fear. Fear of failure, fear of the unknown, even fear of wasting one’s time. But isn’t it about time we stop being afraid, cynical or contemptuous and start doing something constructive to end the the Iraqi war? And, then make sure this kind of war never happens again during our lifetimes? I really hope so!

Really, really, really loved Lions for Lambs!
Wow, I loved this movie. I almost did not see it because of all the bad reviews I had seen on the internet. I had a dilemma at the ticket line but I took the risk and saw it and I’m so glad I took that risk. Not one moment went by that my eyeballs were not hooked to that movie screen. Never have I watched a movie where every piece of dialog made me listen and think! I really liked the conversation between the professor and the student, that was one of my favorites, but Cruise and Streep where good too. I can relate more to the student and the professor cause of my personal experiences in crap high school and nobody really caring cause nobody else seems to care. I love that at the end of the movie, its obvious, that the professor got to that student. This movie definitely deserves an award. I fell in love with Michael Pena and Derek Luke and their scenes made me feel like crying! Wow I am so glad I watched this movie. I am so glad Roeper gave it a thumbs up, cause now I am reassured that it wasn’t just me who thought this was such a good movie!
