    “Blade” Movie Review

    “Blade” Plot Summary

A half-vampire, half-mortal man becomes a protector of the mortal race, while slaying evil vampires.

    GOOD ACTION/HORROR MOVIE!!

This was one of those slick action movies that was made to look good on screen, and it did, the vampire fighting sequences were excellent, there was plenty of blood and gore the whole movie looked good to the eye. It was a fun watch and very entertaining. Good movie but I didn’t like how Blade could slice vampires in half and they would just die, it looked good but vampires don’t die by getting sliced in half. Other than the vampires and how many rules were not kept to in this movie, Wesley Snipes gives a good performance as Blade and Stephen Dorff is great as the evil vampire. The story is when Blade’s mother was bitten by a vampire during pregnancy, she did not know that she gave her son a special gift while dying: All the good vampire attributes in combination with the best human skills. Blade grew up to be a vampire hunter for revenge on his mother’s death. The vampires, who managed to infiltrate nearly every major organization, need Blade’s very special blood to summon La Miagra, the blood god, in order to gain reign about the human cattle, as they call us. If you beleive that vampires can only be killed by a stab to the heart and the weapon must stay in the heart and chopping the head off are the only ways to kill a vampire you won’t find that in Blade. But Blade has it’s moments and I would recommend it as a good horror/action movie.

    “Johnny Mnemonic” Movie Review

    “Johnny Mnemonic” Plot Summary

A data courier, carrying a data package literally inside his head too large to hold for long, must deliver it before he dies from it.

I love any and all Sci-Fi anything.

I like this film. The ending was lame but most are in my opinion. I like Sci-Fi movies from the rubber suited aliens to the ‘control’ lights flashing madly for no apparent reason except for effect. Let’s face it, in any given year there are few Sci-Fi movies made. Look at the long lists of movies made and there might be a Sci-Fi movie amongst them. Horror does far better with at least three or four a year. Sci-Fi has been a subjective genre and will probably remain so. After all, the future-present seems so dull, mundane and exploited when you’re living in it (planes, cars, tanks, computers, internet).

Specifically about this movie I like the stark opening on the Main Character. He desperately, angrily, wants the money to get his memories back and do it right. The perfect setup for the risk he decides to take. The exposition dialogue on this point could be better but it got the point across (again and again) what was at stake and why. He was so desperate that he was willing to risk his life to obtain HIS goal

Then we have the usual introduction of characters and the running, fighting and hiding. Each step of the way he is always closer to getting that thing out of his head and renewing his childhood memories

I agree with the other comments regarding the Main Character’s desires whil e standing on a garbage heap and his life looks like garbage — he will never live to enjoy his childhood again, nor the physical comforts he thinks he wants

The lo-techs vs. the corporate is an old theme with maybe another angle. It sets the backdrop for the overall story, the good and the bad fighting for control. The corporate side I liked. The lo-tech side was the usual, nothing new

What I liked about the corporate side was the ancient use of the god-like conscience represented by the woman in the computer. The one who nags the corporate head to help the lo-techs for his absolution in the memory of his dead daughter

The god-like conscience character is rarely used in American drama, but heavily honored by Asians. I have always liked this dramatic element even when demonstrated in the classical Greek. How can we define good and evil when it is beyond our control and understanding? Thus is an Asian view, as well as the ancient world, of the meaning of life. The doll white face and the near obliteration of any human features just as in the face masks worn in the ancient Greek dramas or in the ancient art of Kabuki

Like I said, I like all Sci-Fi. It is too rare. As I illustrated above there were plenty of good dramatic elements and shots to make the movie enjoyable. Even the lame stuff has its own entertainment just as good as rubber suited aliens.

“Ace Ventura: Pet Detective” Movie Review

    “Ace Ventura” Plot Summary

A goofy detective specializing in animals goes in search of a missing dolphin mascot of a football team. add synopsis

    Funny, Funny, Funny

Here it is, folks: the movie that made ‘Jim Carrey’ a household name overnight–’Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.’ Although the movie’s silly, crude, and often very childish, I still love the damn thing to death. It’s a classic. Just one of those movies that you know’s great but can’t accurately describe why. Maybe because Jim Carrey’s the only actor on earth who can pull Ace Ventura off without looking like a complete jackass. Yeah, I think that’s it. Can you think of any other actor on earth who could bend over, talk through his rectum, and still manage being funny and make sense? That’s what Carrey does here. Ace Ventura is obnoxious, but he makes sense and solves complex cases; he’s no idiot. The plot’s pretty good for a silly movie. Ace Ventura is hired by the beautiful Melissa Robinson (Courtney Cox) of the Miami Dolphins to retrieve their missing mascot dolphin–Snowflake

This movie practically made Carrey a superstar overnight. (And even resulted in a funny but inferior sequel entitled–’Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls.’) Had this not been made, we’d of never experienced the hilarity of ‘Dumb and Dumber’ or ‘The Mask.’ Jim Carrey’s a comedic genius. I miss the Dumb and Dumber/Mask era, when Carrey was in his prime and never took himself or his audiences too seriously.3 and a half stars

    “Deep Blue Sea” Movie Review

    “Deep Blue Sea” Plot Summary

Searching for a cure to Alzheimer’s disease a group of scientists on an isolated research facility become the bait as a trio of intelligent sharks fight back. add synopsis

    A survivalist’s dream!

A team of doctors, scientists and other professionals are sent to a remote research facility to study sharks in the hopes of finding a cure for Alzheimer’s disease. But the Bio-engineered sharks soon use their newly acquired intelligence to try and outsmart their human counterparts. One by one the team, a cast that includes Michael Rapaport, LL Cool J, Samuel L Jackson, Saffron Burrows amongst others, begin to be eliminated one by one as a struggle for survival begins when the sharks sabotage the facility by causing it to deliberately flood so that they (the sharks) can escape into the open sea. I thoroughly enjoyed the suspense and thriller aspects of the film, it wasn’t too gory (compared to some other films) but the script as well as certain situations were very annoying and not to mention predictable.
