    “The Last Samurai” Movie Review

    “The Last Samurai” Plot Summary

An American military advisor embraces the Samurai culture he was hired to destroy after he is captured in battle.

    Laughable

Well, during all the movie Samurais are depicted as a warriors’ elite that studied and practised the art of war for centuries. Nevertheless we see that it’s very easy for an American alcoholic to equal them in the art of katana handling in just some months of training (this samurais must be dumb, as they practise katana since they are children !!). What about tactics ? After centuries of continuous warfare, they need a foreigner to teach them to feign a retreat and then to counterattack. And what about the final scene in which the captain arrives just when the pact is being signed and the Emperor changes idea ? I laughed to tears. I thought The Gladiator was unrivalled, but Hollywood never cease to amaze me. I’ll seek comfort in Kagemusha or Gohatto.

    “The Pelican Brief” Movie Review

    “The Pelican Brief” Plot Summary

A law student uncovers a conspiracy, putting herself and others in danger. add synopsis

    Most enjoyable thriller

Another complex legal thriller from author John Grisham (‘The Firm’) is brought professionally to the screen by director Alan J. Pakula (‘Presumed Innocent’).As in the Sydney Pollack film ‘The Firm’, ‘The Pelican Brief’ requires concentration and attention to detail as it relates the story of New Orleans law student Darby Shaw (Julia Roberts), whose theoretic paper, which outlines what she believes to be the reasons behind the brutal assassinations of two Supreme Court judges, lands her in hot water when it passes into the wrong hands. Her brief, it would seem, is much too close to the truth for comfort. So begins a frenetic chase as Darby runs for her life whilst she searches for someone in whom to place her trust. She finds that confidant in Washington Herald reporter Gray Grantham (Denzel Washington), whose determined yet ethical pursuit of the truth is both admirable and effective

Grisham’s involved novel (which probably loses much specific detail in crossing to the big screen) gives the movie a plot that is fascinating enough to carry proceedings alone, however Pakula’s effective direction and his choice of two popular stars does no harm to the cause. Both Roberts and Washington are in good form and give strong performances, as do the impressive supporting cast

A most enjoyable, and occasionally tense, thriller whose beginning and finale are both far outdone by the fast middle

    “Ghost” Movie Review

    “Ghost” Plot Summary

After being killed during a botched mugging, a man’s love for his partner enables him to remain on earth as a ghost. add synopsis

    Love is a powerful emotion

If you have ever lost a loved one and want to believe that they are still somewhere you will be touch by the wonderful and not over sentimental ‘Ghost’.Some people may not find ‘Ghost’ to have any sense but if you are romantic and open-minded it will hit you like the fast moving train.’Ghost’ is an epic love story of Molly (Demi Moore) and Sam (gorgeous Patrick Swayze) who have so strong relationship but it is taken from them so early. After a tragic mugging episode the banker Sam loose his life and leaves Molly to face the cruel reality on her own. Sam is persistent to let Molly know that he is still there watching and protecting her. By the act of coincidence Sam finds a way to communicate his loved one with the help of fraud sidekick Oda Mae Brown (hilarious Whoopi Goldberg whose Academy Award-winning performance was very well earned!). There is some twist and turns, some difficulties but nothing can stop the true love finding it ways. Even if it does mean beyond the grave.’Ghost’ was the unexpected hit movie of the year 1990. It won two Oscars. Dazzling Goldberg got a Golden Man for Best Supporting Actress and Bruce Joel Rubin got his prize for his writing skills. It launched the era of new special effect techniques, and boosted the careers of Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze

First time I saw the movie it didn’t affect me as much as it did when I saw it for the second time. I wept like a little waterfall and felt strongly that there must be a life after death

Vincent Schiavelli was dark but sympathetic Subway Ghost who guided Sam on his path to become a real ghost

The film produced some of the funniest scenes in movie history. While Sam is trying to get Oda Mae to help him he tortures her by singing in a monotonous, deep-voiced way ‘I’m Henry the Eight I am’! That’s so great. Also the word ‘ditto’ became famous. I bet the ‘Ghost-generation’ has repeatedly said it to their loved ones

If you manage get your mind open and let ‘Ghost’ into your heart it effects might just surprise you! 9,5/10

    “The 6th Day” Movie Review

    “The Sixth Day” Plot Summary

Futuristic action about a man who meets a clone of himself and stumbles into a grand conspiracy about clones taking over the world.

An Arnold movie everyone can enjoy

‘The 6th Day’ marks the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger to a genre that is second nature to him: action. This time there is an added twist; there is an excellent plot attached.’The 6th Day’ revolves around a man who has been cloned and ends up on the run from a corporation who wants him dead. Arnold is this man who has lost his family, life and taking on the corporation who took it from him. All the while, Arnold is searching within himself to find a way to get his family back. ‘The 6th Day’ boasts a cast that includes Robert Duvall, Michael Rooker, Tony Goldwyn and Sarah Wynter. I knew the second I saw these names flash across the screen I was in for a real treat. The first time I saw Schwarzenegger’s name I immediately knew he is the perfect man for the job

The best thing about ‘The 6th Day’ is the performance of Schwarzenegger because he is not only an action star in this film but a dramatic actor as he combines these two talents to pull off one of his better performances of his career

Arnold did not make this film a hit by himself, he had a little help from his friends. From Robert Duvall who played the doctor who performed the cloning operations to Michael Rooker, who was one evil henchmen with his menacing attitude and presence ‘The 6th Day’ is one great film to see

I enjoyed how the plot of film didn’t rely solely on the action sequences. Though, the action is fine and dandy; I believe that a film needs more than just action and ‘The 6th Day’ has it.’The 6th Day’ is one of the best Arnold films I’ve seen including the ‘Terminator’ series. It is filled with action, twists, turns, edge of your seat suspense and drama that will appeal to all movie fans of every age.
