“Alien” 1979 by Ridley Scott – Movie Review

“Alien” is a break-through film. A sensation on the battlefield for the moviegoers’ money. The movie which, along with several other movies shot in the late 70’s – early 80’s, defined the mainstream for many years (I would also mention that the era of “Alien” is not over yet, although it is close to its sunset as never before).

Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver)

Ellen Riplay (Sigourney Weaver)

Gothic story in futuristic surroundings convincingly dusted by the wind of time (the interiors of the ship were artificially “aged”) sets the highest standards for the genre of space sci-fi. And a few have managed to surpass it. To tell the truth only James Cameron was able to do better in the “Aliens”.

Originally the screenwriter Dan O’Bannon was thinking about the storyline of gremlins spreading havoc on board the B-17 bomber. Later B-17 turned into a small starship named “Snark” with exclusively male crew. But the producers insisted that two women be included in the crew, and one of them should defeat the main villain. Time has shown that it was the right decision. Seemingly fragile but strong Ripley became the second – after her toothy enemy – most important symbol of the “Alien” cult universe.

According to the original intent the dying alien would scratch a triangle on the dashboard. Searching his ship the people from “Nostromo” would find a stone pyramid nearby with the aliens eggs. This idea was never implemented (though Giger did the necessary sketches), but the idea of the pyramid was finally used in the “Aliens v. Predator” movie.

    “Top Gun” Plot Summary

The macho students of an elite US Flying school for advanced fighter pilots compete to be best in the class, and one romances the teacher.

    Fun, entertaining and unbelievable!

Most of the comments about this movie are more unbelievable than the picture itself. Some are saying it’s the greatest movie which is far from true. On the other side are the cinema snobs who won’t let themselves enjoy this motion picture. This movie may require much more ’suspension of disbelief ‘ than most but the fact that many are still enjoying it says plenty about its entertainment value.

“Tears of the Sun” Movie Review

“Tears of the Sun” Plot Summary

Bruce Willis plays a Special-Ops commander who leads his team into the jungle of Nigeria to rescue a doctor played by Monica Belluci who will only go with them if they agree to rescue 70 refugees too.

    One of the best

This is by far one of the best movies I have ever seen in my life. This movie draws you in; you get scarred for the characters and hope for the defeat of the villains. This is one of those rare moments where you forget that your watching a movie.

I really think that this was the best movie of 2005. Bruce Willis does a great job but the breakout artist is Monica Belluci. The fact that she is possibly the most beautiful woman alive doesn’t hurt in attracting you to this film.

The first part of the movie is the character of Bruce Willis’ dilemma of committing to duty or doing the right thing. We get to see him and Monica Belluci’s struggle to trust and understand what it is they should do. The second part of the movie is a good 30 minute fighting scene that keeps you wondering which of the good guys will day. This is the best movie.

    “Contact” Plot Summary

Dr. Ellie Arroway, after years of searching, finds conclusive radio proof of intelligent aliens, who send plans for a mysterious machine.

    Incredible

I do believe this is the best movie I have ever seen, If possible reality would be exactly like played out in this show. One word to describe this movie…….perfect. The DVD is another must have with its special features, but the special audio from the directors and special effects should be avoided as it takes away from the magic of the movie…..sit back and be ready to be entertained. A fine trip.
