“Broken Flowers” Movie Review

“Broken Flowers” Plot Summary

As the devoutly single Don Johnston is dumped by his latest girlfriend, he receives an anonymous pink letter informing him that he has a son who may be looking for him. The situation causes Don to examine his relationships with women instead of moving on to the next one, and he embarks on a cross-country search for his old flames who might possess clues to the mystery at hand. add synopsis

Liked it

Jarmusch aims for the mainstream

Murray visits his ex-girlfriends to find out which of them sent him a letter

Similar in structure to The Swimmer – at the first people are friendly but gradually turn nasty. Watchable movie with many good scenes – sometimes you feel sorry for Murray but other times you feel sorry for the women he visits. The best scene has Murray visiting a nervous childless woman and her husband – very nice couple. Similar to many independent American movies of recent years – but more enjoyable

Broken Flowers is worth a look.

    “Constantine” Movie Review

    “Constantine” Plot Summary

Based on the DC/Vertigo comic book Hellblazer and written by Kevin Brodbin, Mark Bomback and Frank Capello, Constantine tells the story of irreverent supernatural detective John Constantine (Keanu Reeves), who has literally been to hell and back.

    Excellent fantasy/horror movie

I’ve seen Constantine three times and I enjoy it more each time I watch it! It is truly well-done and extremely entertaining, and I can guarantee that if you like horror, suspense and/or fantasy you will love this movie! Keanu Reeves plays a very cool Constantine, who is a modern-day exorcist but most certainly not to be confused with a priest, as he has his issues and a burden of sins from his past that he carries with him. Constantine is a very realistic and human hero who is devoid of superpowers but has all the cool gadgets and the kick-ass attitude needed to survive in a world slowly being invaded by demons and scheming angels. He meets Angela (Rachel Wiesz) after she loses her sister, Isabel to the forces of evil. She comes to Constantine in search of an answer on where Isabel has ended up following her apparent suicide. Constantine journeys to other realms/dimensions in an attempt to get those answers, even paying a couple of visits to hell. Needless to say, with such a plot the special effects, acting, sets, script and even wardrobe have to be carefully conceived and executed to make it believable, and they are… in spades

Constantine achieves what all great movies always do: it takes you into another world that makes you forget everything about your own world the whole time you are watching it. And really, in the end, isn’t that what great cinema is all about?

“The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” Movie Review

“The Chronicles of Narnia 1″ Plot Summary

Four kids travel through a wardrobe to the land of Narnia and learn of their destiny to free it with the guidance of a mystical lion. add synopsis

Can’t wait for the next movie in the series.

I watched it one of its advanced screenings this afternoon and as expected it turned out to be quite a movie

Based on the classic novel by CS Lewis. Four London children are sent to a professors country home in order for protection during World War II. There they find a magic wardrobe which leads to a mystical land called Narnia, which is being ruled by an evil witch. To defeat the Witch, they must join forces with Aslan, the lion God of Narnia, and the great battle between good and evil that’s pretty much the whole story

The acting field was average (not surprising really), Swinton was okay but not top notch kind of stuff. All the kids did a wonderful job and if i can recollect correctly thats more than what i could have done at such a young age

The special effects were above average to excellent and tell us just what you can do if you put enough effort into it. I guess you can call it LOTR for kids and i would absolutely agree with that

Overall an excellent family film and if you are a fan of the Harry Potter franchise then you should be able to dig this quite easily

P.S got my fingers crossed for the next film.9/10

    “Vanilla Sky” Movie Review

    “Vanilla Sky” Plot Summary

A successful publisher finds his life taking a turn for the surreal after a car accident with a jaded lover.

    great!

This film is really a great metaphor for the experience of spiritual enlightenment. It shows us how we can manipulate our surroundings and the way we view life using our memories. We can either create a wonderland or a nightmare. But the movie explains that neither of these lead to true fulfillment because we are only truly happy when we risk it all and really EXPERIENCE life. When we all want to live a real life all we need to do is stop thinking, open our eyes and LIVE. A great film i saw it after i had been reading a book on spiritual enlightenment and meditation and through this I was able to derive all these morals from it. :]
