It’s Great to see Angelina Jolie in the role of Lara Croft

I like Lara Croft. I like Angelina Jolie playing the role of Lara Croft and I liked all the special effects they used to make this movie. Movie is entertainingly good. I wished Jolie considered playing a third part, but she already declared she won’t do it again. ‘Two Tomb Raiders is enough’ I hope she changes her mind.

    “Proof of Life” Plot Summary

Alice hires a professional negotiator to obtain the release of her engineer husband, who has been kidnapped by anti-government guerrillas in South America. add synopsis

A good and very entertaining thriller with Russell Crowe

While building a dam in ‘Tecala’, a country situated in the Andes, the chief America engineer ‘Peter Bowman’ (David Morse), is captured by anti-government forces during a raid in the capital. When the rebels discover their identity require $3 million to return safe and sound. However, the company of ‘Peter’, based in Houston, is on the brink of bankruptcy and has canceled the insurance policy against kidnappings, so it cannot provide the money for their rescue. Abandoned by the company, ‘Alice’ (Meg Ryan), the wife of ‘Peter’, must cope with the situation by your account. She hires the services of the negotiator of hostages professional ‘Terry Thorne’ (Russell Crowe), a veteran of SAS, which in recent years has dealt with numerous kidnappings.’Proof of Life’ is a film little considered due to high expectations for its attractiveness argument and that is the first film of Russell Crowe after the great success throughout the world with ‘Gladiator.’ But its director Taylor Hackford has not sought a film committed and complaint, only has sought to expose through a current problem, a simple thriller and fairly, conventional with good scenes of action. Its objective is achieved by far, but it is not at all what has been expected of this film

In terms of its scenes of action, they are very successful and generous, with some contribution of tension well managed. The film is conventional within this genre of films. It has not nothing to do not have seen before, but it knows expose very well the action, although the fabric loving can be considered very secondary fulfills its mission,

    “War” Movie Review

    “War” Plot Summary

An FBI Agent seeks vengeance on a mysterious assassin known as “Rogue” who murdered his partner.

    Good fun, good action

Recap: FBI Agent Crawford and his partner Tom Lone happen to find themselves in the middle of a shootout between different factions of the Japanese mafia. Naturally they go in. Soon they find that one party is made up of the mysterious and feared assassin Rogue. It is only by Tom’s timely appearance that Crawford isn’t killed by Rogue. The yakuza, in revenge for Rogue kills Tom and his entire family. Since then Crawford has been on the hunt. Three years later Rogue appears again. But this time he has switched allegiance to the other faction. And suddenly Crawford and his agent find himself in the middle of a war

Comments: Just about what you would expect of a movie with both Statham and Li in it. Not very subtle but full of action, shoot-outs, fighting, car chases and explosions. It is high paced and delivers scene after action packed scene. If that’s what you want, you won’t be disappointed

Both Li and Statham are veterans in this kind of game and bring real solid performances. And I think Philip Atwell, who made his debut as full length movie director, did well too. He managed to keep the pace up and didn’t lose focus from the essential parts. There is a small element of surprise in there, but it is not given too much of attention, it just makes some interesting twists here and there.7/10

A young lawyer joins a prestigous law firm only to discover that it has a sinister dark side. add synopsis

    Had issues, still good

May contain spoilers, be warned! It seems like the more Tom Cruise movies I watch, the more I really really like him. The Firm surprised me because it was LONG, which means it has a lot of potential for viewers to lose interest, but that didn’t happen to me. It was tight & suspenseful all the way through. My one compliant: there were too many characters & too many different settings. I didn’t know all the lawyers names, plus the Mafia guys, the FBI workers, etc., not to mention where they all where, as the action was spread across several US cities plus in the Cayman Islands. All in all, a good movie. The changes in the story from the book that it was based on didn’t create a weaker/worse film. ***1/2 out of 5

“The Chronicles of Riddick” Movie Review

“The Chronicles of Riddick” Plot Summary

5 years after Pitch Black, the wanted criminal Riddick arrives on a planet called Helion Prime, and finds himself up against an invading empire called the Necromongers, an army that plans to convert or kill all humans in the universe.

Great action, great story, great effects

Great film. I really liked it, being a great fan of Pitch Black (2000). The universe of Riddick is really impressive and way different from the (boring and predictable) other sci-fi titles nowadays (except, maybe Firefly).

Vin Diesel’s character is very well explored in this movie and I guess this is the only Vin Diesel performance that I enjoyed at all. The Necromongers are a very curious and interesting ‘race’ (they have an evil charm, something like the Borgs) and I would like to see more of them and more about Riddick’s past

And I really liked the twist at the ending. I can’t wait to see the third movie of the franchise (if it ever gets released, I hope so).

“Snakes on a Plane” Plot Summary

An FBI agent takes on a plane full of deadly and poisonous snakes, deliberately released to kill a witness being flown from Honolulu to Los Angeles to testify against a mob boss. add synopsis

    Enjoyable Flight

Another brilliant film from my most favourite director David R. Ellis after Final Destination 2 & Cellular. Snakes on a Plane is definitely one of my most favourite movies and the best film of 2006. Their has already been a lot of films with snakes like Anaconda, King Cobra and Python but they are all rubbish and with no story. This movie is nothing like them it has an amazing story and it’s very relentless. Samuel L. Jackson’s acting as usual was terrific and his line ‘Enough is enough! I have had it with these mother f**king snakes on this mother f**king plane!’ is a trademark of the film just like ‘I’ll be back’ in The Terminator. The rest of the actors are all new and not very well known but the boy who is the witness he was in Wolf Creek, the young blonde air hostess in first class was the alien Sarah in Species 3 and the girl in the bathroom with another boy was in Final Destination 3 one of the girls in the sun bed. It was about 1 hour 40 minutes and I enjoyed every second of it. I don’t know which the best scene is because it was good right from start to end and it is the kind of film that can be watched again & again. My verdict is 20/10.

    “Moon 44″ Plot Summary

Year 2038: The mineral resources of the earth are drained, in space there are fights for the last deposits on other planets and satellites… add synopsis

    A great Sci-Fi movie

Hey, I’m really into Sci-Fi movies. I love any movies that have to do with Science Fiction, and are based in the future with unique settings

Well I’d like to say that I’ve seen Moon 44 and consider it a great movie. I’d give this movie overall a 8/10. The reason for this is because of the cinematography. You cannot have a Sci-Fi movie without cinematography

I consider the cinematography above average in Moon 44 because the director, even though on a short budget was able to create some neat scenery, of futuristic earth, space ships, fighter planes, the base itself and etc. This really caught my eye and made me feel like I was in the movie, like I was Felix Stone (Michael Pare).

Now, I though this may sound crazy, but I have to be able to get into a movie to enjoy it, like I enjoyed Blade Runner because of the cinematography. I felt like I was in the movie, in Neo Angeles 2019 AD and as the main character. Same thing went for Star Wars and so on…….Even though Moon 44 was done in a foreign country and on a tight budget, I consider Moon 44 to be one of my Sci-Fi favorite flicks. The script could have used improvements, but overall it was a great movie. See it for yourself and tell me what you think. I’m sure you’d enjoy it as well.-Romeo

    “Romeo Must Die” Plot Summary

An avenging cop seeks out his brother’s killer and falls for the daughter of a businessman who is involved in a money-deal with his father.

    Best Jet Li movie

Romeo must die is the Best Jet Li movie till date. It is packed with amazing fight scenes, plenty of jokes and a great atmosphere sorrounding the movie. This is Jet Li’s second Hollyood movie after the Hit Lethal weapon 4. Some of the fight scenes are computerised, but Impresses big time. This is my favourite Jet Li movie, others include Kiss of the Dragon, Unleashed, Born to defend and Black mask. The late Aliyah looks great as ever, especially when she takes Li to the night club. DMX appears in this movie in a small role, he later makes a Decent movie alongside Li in Cradle 2 the grave. It wasn’t exactly a Blockbuster Hit of a movie, but it was Great Fun. There is a large number of actors, another actor that provides laughs are Maureen, who also appears in cradle 2 the grave. One of my favourite scenes is when Jet Li plays football, and is sarcasticlly fouled on purpose. He decides to take advantage of the rules and hit back in a Great Way. Recommended, if you enjoyed Jet Li Movies.

    “I, Robot” Movie Review

    “I, Robot” Plot Summary

In the year 2035 a techno-phobic cop investigates a crime that may have been perpetrated by a robot, which leads to a larger threat to humanity.

clever idea which starts badly and finishes well

SPOILERS Artificial Intelligence and our dependency upon machines. A subject area so frequently asked, that it’s a wonder we ever get anything done. Stretching back to the 1920s and ‘Metropolis’ cinema has raised this topic many times, and often the end result has been negative. In 2004’s ‘I, Robot’, the notion of robots and their role in society was brought up. In a story involving artificial intelligence and a not too distant future where robots were everywhere, the film deals with the subject area brilliantly. Led by a surprisingly good performance by Will Smith, it is an enjoyable film which is ruined only slightly by it’s ridiculously large number of product placements throughout

The year is 2035 and robots are everywhere. Doing small jobs like rubbish collection and dog walking, they are humanities friends. That is the view of everyone that is except for Detroit cop Del Spooner (Will Smith). With a strong hatred of robots, Spooner feels something is going to go wrong. Unfortunately for humanity, he just might be right.’I, Robot’ starts off badly. Attempting to set the scene by introducing our character and his surroundings, the film manages to contain more product advertisements in it’s first twenty minutes, than you get during the entire of the Superbowl. From Spooner’s interest in ‘classic’ shoes through to the emblem on his car, the film’s beginning smacks of product placement. Luckily for the film and the audiences however, this placement does eventually stop

After some of the film is paid for by the lucrative advertising connections, the story does actually take off at a decent speed. Introducing the idealistic robot psychologist Susan Calvin (Bridget Moynahan) and the ‘unique’ robot Sonny (Alan Tudyk), we slowly begin to become immersed in a tense ‘who dunnit’ story with large amounts of action and a detailed philosophy on existence

The philosophy involved is remarkably logical actually. Far too often in Hollywood the combination of philosophy and action is ridiculously unbalanced. Whether in the second Matrix film where they stupidly fitted a complex and confusing philosophy into one ten minute period, or in other styles, far too often the action is either corrupted by the philosophy or vice versa. Therefore it is actually quite a pleasant surprise for a film to be so exciting, yet so logical

Thanks to the original writings of Isaac Asimov, the story of ‘I,Robot’ works well because the philosophy is an already recognisable one. Asimov’s theories on artificial intelligence have been mentioned in countless different films, but few have truly considered the implications of the rules and how you interpret them. For this in itself, ‘I, Robot’ deserves a lot of praise

In terms of acting, ‘I, Robot’ is a surprising experience. When Will Smith first wakes up with his hat on, the first question is how long until he really begins to grate. Amazingly though, like the product placements, after the first twenty minutes, Smith really begins to fit into his role and provides an appealing performance as the pessimistic Spooner

Smith is also assisted by a decent supporting cast. Using the same technology as was used for Gollum in ‘Lord Of The Rings’ Alan Tudyk is brilliant as Sonny the robot with emotions and a heart of gold. The highlight of the supporting stars though is the always brilliant James Cromwell as the deceased creator of robots everywhere. Cromwell has made some excellent career choices over the years and once again he shines throughout

It’s always a pleasant surprise to encounter an action film which has thought in it too. Adopting the theories of Asimov, ‘I, Robot’ is a well made film with huge amounts of action and some deeply philosophical questions about existence. Sadly though, the film is let down due to an irritating first twenty minutes. Setting the scene and exploring a leading character is never a problem, but when a film sells it’s soul with excessive, not even subtle, product placement, any dignity it has goes out the window. Whoever chose to allow such blatant disregard for the intelligence of the viewer should know better, mainly because ‘I,Robot’ deserves more than that.
