“Black Book” Movie Review

“Zwartboek” Plot Summary

In the Nazi-occupied Netherlands during World War II, a Jewish singer infiltrates the regional Gestapo headquarters for the Dutch resistance.

a must see !

I just saw the movie and I loved it, the actors are fantastic, especially Carice Van Houten, who really carries the movie. I’d never seen her in a movie before and she is quite a revelation, I really hope to see more of her

As for Verhoeven, his come-back to the Netherlands paid off. The production is flawless, the action scenes are very well done, and he brings out the best of his cast. The movie captures perfectly the madness of the time, you can’t tell the good guys from the bad guys, there is nothing manipulative or Manichean in this movie, everything is not black and white. Not all Germans are monsters, the resist ants can be assholes and heroes lonely people who just try to survive.

    “Final Destination 3″ Movie Review

    “Final Destination 3″ Plot Summary

In this third installment of the Final Destination series, a student’s premonition of a deadly rollercoaster ride saves her life and a lucky few, but not from death itself which seeks out those who escaped their fate.

    Best of the three

This film is definitely the best of the three, hands down!! The ending is excellent. It proves that death is inevitable, no matter what! The other two did that, but in the sequel. This film did it at the end, with everyone dying! This one can’t be outdone, so no more final destination’s are necessary! And the pictures, with the predicting death thing, was awesome!! I think that was a good addition! And it was gory, not that the other two weren’t; but this one, you could feel it! It was like you were right there watching it all happen! And just when you think you have it figured out, like with the weight bench or the horse, something happens that surprises you! The other two were extremely predictable and hard to sit through. This one, you were on the edge of your seat the whole time; waiting for something unexpected to happen!!

    “Hunger” Movie Review

    “Hunger” Plot Summary

The last six weeks of the life of the Irish republican hunger striker Bobby Sands.

    Grim but Good

Film about IRA hunger striker Bobby Sands in 1981 but although the film is bookended by some on screen text that puts it in its historical and political context, it is mostly concerned with the actions of the individuals involved the guards and the prisoners

For the majority of the film there is hardly any speech, you just see the very grim day-to-day reality – except for the key scene of the film which is a conversation between Sands and a priest which is done in two long, unmoving takes

It’s quite a powerful film, and very hard to watch in places. It reminded me of ‘Downfall’ in some ways a good film but not one I’d want to see again anytime soon.
