“Pretty Woman” Plot Summary
A man in a legal but hurtful business needs an escort for some social events, and hires a beautiful prostitute he meets… only to fall in love.
A winning romantic comedy.
Garry Marshall may not be the most interesting director working in Hollywood, but his movies are definitely entertaining, and in that sense he is successful. Perhaps his two greatest films, which also are the ones he’ll most likely be remembered for, are ‘Beaches’ and ‘Pretty Woman’. One of the most commercially successful (almost $500m worldwide!!) romantic comedies of all time,’Pretty Woman’ is a charming modern day fairy tale that works largely in part to the phenomenal on-screen chemistry between its two stars Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. In an Academy Award nominated performance as Vivian Ward, Julia Roberts truly shines. Her screen presence is nothing short of radiating, not to mention she’s a highly skilled comedic actress. The film also owes a lot to its equally strong supporting performances from Jason Alexander, Laura San Giacomo and Hector Elizondo. All cliches aside, it’s highly enjoyable and stands up superbly even after repeated viewings, a definite 10/10.

Super but certainly not for all tastes
This is a super-cynical film that is incredibly entertaining, insightful and oh, so jaded! The problem is that although it’s got a brilliant script, the film will only appeal to a small select audience. Die-hard Clinton lovers will NOT appreciate the film as it’s a thinly veiled criticism of the Clinton presidency–particularly since the film is about some completely amoral spin-doctors doing ANYTHING to save the butt of an amoral politician. Clinton lovers probably can’t admit the truth of this aspect of his personality. Die-hard Clinton haters will no doubt love the film. Frankly, I’m rather Libertarian in view and think the nonsense in this film could apply to ANY politician, so those jaded viewers (like myself) will probably appreciate the edgy and dark humor.

“Final Destination 2″ Plot Summary
When Kimberly has a violent premonition of a highway pileup she blocks the freeway, keeping a few others meant to die, safe…Or are they? The survivors mysteriously start dying and it’s up to Kimberly to stop it before she’s next.
Fairly good sequel…
This time, Kimberly Corman (A.J. Cook) has a dream of a horrible of a deadly car crash killing many, many people. So when she wakes up her and a few others get out of their car and witness the horror themselves. Now, of course, they start to die in the order of how they would have, or are they? The opener is not as fantastic as in the first one, but the rest of the movie is better, in my opinion. Just like the first, there’s a lot of sagging moments. Also, just like the original, the first murder is just okay. But the next 3 or 4 murders make up for it. In the end, it’s all confusing and plot twists and crap with an interesting ender.

“Kate & Leopold” Movie Review
“Kate and Leopold” Plot Summary
Kate and her actor brother live in N.Y. in the 21st Century. Her ex-boy friend, Stuart, lives above…
Typical Romantic Comedy With A Twist Of Time Travelling
‘Kate and Leopald’ is a typical romantic comedy, only this time one of the protagonists travels from the 30s (?) to modern day New York. It’s clear that one shouldn’t expect anything more than laughter and a few mushy moments of love from this film and that is the case. If one watches it with lower expectations, it can be quite enjoyable. I liked the Hugh Jackman – Meg Ryan pairing. They both share the required chemistry and provide some of the nicer moments. Ryan plays her usual romcom city lass persona (and I haven’t tired myself from seeing her in such roles…yet but I now prefer to see her in different genres ). Hugh Jackman has a knack for comedy and he should do more such films if given a more intelligent script. Breckin Meyer and Liev Schreiber are great. To further prevent yourself from getting irritated, quit analyzing the film as there are several plot holes and some situations seem chopped. You can ask lots of question like how Leopold adapts to modern New York so quickly or how would an ultra-modern Kate (who’s never travelled) make it in 30’s (?) England (?) So one could enjoy it a little if they suspend their beliefs. even so, the ending seems a little too abrupt (predictable as it is). In spite of the flaws, there are the few nice moments and the few funny moments that don’t make it all that bad.

“Hairspray” Movie Review
“Hairspray” Plot Summary
Pleasantly plump teenager Tracy Turnblad teaches 1962 Baltimore a thing or two about integration after landing a spot on a local TV dance show.
I Am Shocked
I am shocked at how much I liked this movie. When I first heard about it, I wasn’t too excited. I’m not a big fan of musicals and I didn’t think this would make me warm up to them. But I really loved this movie. It was absolutely fantastic. I was forced into seeing this movie and I didn’t expect it to be that good
My sister asked me to take her daughters, Jacqueline and Emma to see the movie and I was a little reluctant to at first, but I eventually agreed to go. It wasn’t as good as Transformers, but it was a ton of fun! My nieces were smiling to the whole movie and so was I. It was just very funny and extremely enjoyable
The whole cast was absolutely superb. Nikki Blonsky has talent. She pulled off the role of Tracy great. Amanda Bynes was great as Tracy’s pal, Penny. I like Amanda, she is a funny girl. John Travolta as Edna, Tracy’s mom. Wow. Pretty good. Michelle Pheiffer and Brittany Snow play snotty mother and daughter, Velma and Amber Von Tussel. They were pretty funny. Christopher Walken is excellent as always. Queen Latifa as Motormouth Maybelle was pretty damn hilarious. Zac Efron as the dreamy Linc Larkin. He was pretty cool. Elijah Kelley as Seaweed was just awesome! The script was pretty awesome. The songs were good and you may find yourself tapping your feet to the music. The dialogue was fun and absolutely hilarious. The characters were very, very likable. You may even grow attached to the antagonists. It was very well written and the cast proved that even more
If you want to have a fun time at the movies, I really recommend Hairspray. Even the guys will love it. The songs, script, and cast were all excellent and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Even though I loathe musicals, this one was great. Go watch it. It’s very entertaining

“Johnny Mnemonic” Movie Review
“Johnny Mnemonic” Plot Summary
A data courier, carrying a data package literally inside his head too large to hold for long, must deliver it before he dies from it.
I love any and all Sci-Fi anything.
I like this film. The ending was lame but most are in my opinion. I like Sci-Fi movies from the rubber suited aliens to the ‘control’ lights flashing madly for no apparent reason except for effect. Let’s face it, in any given year there are few Sci-Fi movies made. Look at the long lists of movies made and there might be a Sci-Fi movie amongst them. Horror does far better with at least three or four a year. Sci-Fi has been a subjective genre and will probably remain so. After all, the future-present seems so dull, mundane and exploited when you’re living in it (planes, cars, tanks, computers, internet).
Specifically about this movie I like the stark opening on the Main Character. He desperately, angrily, wants the money to get his memories back and do it right. The perfect setup for the risk he decides to take. The exposition dialogue on this point could be better but it got the point across (again and again) what was at stake and why. He was so desperate that he was willing to risk his life to obtain HIS goal
Then we have the usual introduction of characters and the running, fighting and hiding. Each step of the way he is always closer to getting that thing out of his head and renewing his childhood memories
I agree with the other comments regarding the Main Character’s desires whil e standing on a garbage heap and his life looks like garbage — he will never live to enjoy his childhood again, nor the physical comforts he thinks he wants
The lo-techs vs. the corporate is an old theme with maybe another angle. It sets the backdrop for the overall story, the good and the bad fighting for control. The corporate side I liked. The lo-tech side was the usual, nothing new
What I liked about the corporate side was the ancient use of the god-like conscience represented by the woman in the computer. The one who nags the corporate head to help the lo-techs for his absolution in the memory of his dead daughter
The god-like conscience character is rarely used in American drama, but heavily honored by Asians. I have always liked this dramatic element even when demonstrated in the classical Greek. How can we define good and evil when it is beyond our control and understanding? Thus is an Asian view, as well as the ancient world, of the meaning of life. The doll white face and the near obliteration of any human features just as in the face masks worn in the ancient Greek dramas or in the ancient art of Kabuki
Like I said, I like all Sci-Fi. It is too rare. As I illustrated above there were plenty of good dramatic elements and shots to make the movie enjoyable. Even the lame stuff has its own entertainment just as good as rubber suited aliens.

“Home Alone 2: Lost in New York” Movie Review
“Home Alone II” Plot Summary
Kevin McCallister is back. But this time he’s in New York City with enough cash and credit cards to turn the Big Apple into his very own playground…
A very good sequel
‘Home Alone 2: Lost In New York’ is a sequel to the classic ‘Home Alone’. A very nice sequel, let’s face it! If the first one is hilarious, this one is hysterical! I consider this superior to the original. Both are great holiday films
The basic plot is similar to the first one’s, but it’s not a carbon copy. There are many things that make this a different film and a more rich and complete one. It’s a movie with more heart either, with touching scenes such as Kevin and a kid in the hospital waving at each other
The first one basically takes place in Kevin’s house and that zone. This time Kevin is not forgotten at home. Instead of Paris, this time his family is going to Florida and they nearly take Kevin… but he’s accidentally left at the airport. Kevin sees a guy who wears a suit equal to his father’s and confuses him with his father. He enters in the wrong plane and goes to New York City! Like in the original film, Kevin wishes to be lonely after another fight with Buzz. This time the fight is not about a pizza, but because Buzz humiliates Kevin in public when it’s his solo singing of the song ‘My Christmas Tree’, making many laugh. Of course that Uncle Frank, who has no respect for Kevin at all, laughs out loud with this
How come Buzz and Uncle Frank always seem to get away with everything I don’t know… but at least this time Kevin gives a deserved punishment to Buzz. Besides, Buzz isn’t even being sincere when he apologizes. In fact, he whispers Beat that, you little trout sniffer. When Kevin says to his Uncle Frank Oh, wouldn’t wanna spoil your fun, Mr. Cheapskate!, it’s a well deserved reply as well. Indeed, Uncle Frank is a cheapskate, besides being a jerk
The booby traps are more violent comparing to the first movie, but somehow they’re more hilarious, although sometimes they overdo it. The ‘wet bandits’ are no longer nicknamed like that. Now Marv nicknames them as the ’sticky bandits’ after stealing some money from a Santa Claus
The Plaza Hotel is beautiful, with stunning architecture and decoration, not to mention that it’s an extremely luxurious, refined hotel
Cedric is a likable chap, but the Concierge not so much because he dislikes Kevin from the very first moment, although this guy is hilarious at times. Lots of hilarious moments happen in the hotel, mostly with the Concierge and Cedric. One of my favorite parts is when Kevin fools the Corcierge with that cool song ‘Cool Jerk’ – that is hysterical! And what to say about when Kevin fools and scares the hell out of all those hotel’s professionals with a gangster’s movie named ‘Angels with Even Filthier Souls’? That is incredibly funny! The most hysterical part is when Kevin is about to throw a 4th brick and Marv is trying to warn Harry with a strange and almost cartoonish tone of voice, so much that it’s impossible to understand what is he saying
Harry swears the same phrase from the original film – ‘ratcha fatcha freckin’ fracha’ or something like that. But this time he swears that over and over. I wonder how many times he swears that. To this day, I still wonder what is he saying. Maybe it’s almost as if he’s saying the ‘F’ word?Duncan’s Toy Chest is the most beautiful and wonderful toys’s store I’ve ever seen in my whole life. It is absolutely amazing! It is huge and full of everything when it comes to Christmas decorations. It’s almost like a world of fantasy or something from another world. Christmas decorations are also very present in this movie, as well as lovely Christmas carols and good messages about Christmas, allowing us to feel the Christmas magic and spirit
As for the soundtrack, there are plenty of nice Christmas songs, such as ‘All Alone on Christmas’, ‘It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas’, ‘My Christmas Tree’, ‘Christmas Star’ and ‘Jingle Bell Rock’ (too bad it’s not on Brenda Lee’s version). Not a Christmas song, but ‘Cool Jerk’ is awesome
Once again, Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern steal the show in their roles. Eddie Bracken is also great as the kind hearted Mr. Duncan. Macaulay Culkin is even more cute in this film and he has a beautiful smile. Plus, he could be a singer too, he had a beautiful voice to sing and sings beautifully in this film
That sequence with Kevin at the top of the World Trade Center is spectacular and nostalgic, but also painful and depressing to look now because it brings back memories of the tragic date 11th September 2001. Who could possibly imagine back in 1992 that, some years later, such horrible thing would happen? This movie always gave me the urge of spending a Christmas in New York City. It makes Christmas seem so beautiful in that city
This should definitely be on Top 250.

“Dick Tracy” Movie Review
“Dick Tracy” Plot Summary
The comic strip detective finds his life vastly complicated when Breathless Mahoney makes advances towards him while he is trying to battle Big Boy Caprice’s united mob.
Impressive, enjoyable comic book movie (spoilers)
Released in 1990, Warren Beatty’s take on a popular one-time comic book detective is at once successful and distinctive. It doesn’t have the preachy Americo-centric moralism of the ‘Superman’ movies, neither does it possess the dark and tragic depths of the early ‘Batman’ films. ‘Dick Tracy’ is distinctive as it just tries to be what it is: a literal live action comic strip. In this the cops headed up by a straight-laced detective (and his plucky kid sidekick) are the heroes, with a horde of ugly, scheming gangsters as the villains
In a town simply named The City, Dick Tracy (Warren Beatty) is an honest but reckless detective who divides his time between chasing villains and going out with his girlfriend Tess Trueheart (Glenne Headly). He finds himself a new sidekick in the shape of the Kid (Charlie Korsmo), a homeless young thief he pulls off the streets. Tracy will need all the help he can get, as his arch-nemesis Big Boy Caprice (Al Pacino) is on the rise. He’s just rubbed out his main rival Lips Manlis (Paul Sorvino), taken over his club and stolen his girlfriend, singer Breathless Mahoney (Madonna). Now he’s preparing for a rampage that will ensure him complete control of The City…..Take the story out of the movie and it would make a fine period melodrama. There are enough twists and turns in the plot to keep it interesting for the bulk of it’s two-hour running length. The script mixes a healthy stock of comic book characters (hard-nosed cop, honest sweetheart, streetwise kid, mean ugly gangster and attractive but sleazy moll) and has the standard surprise ending. This is combined with a show of action scenes (featuring cement baths, punch-ups and tommy gun shoot-outs) but in keeping with the pictures lighthearted tone, there is nothing gory or explicit
The setting and technical aspect is especially good in this film. The use of primary colours in both the backdrops, sets and costumes is brilliant and makes the whole film really come alive. Enhancing this is a wonderful music score, put to good use in both the action scenes and the quieter, more sentimental moments. Even Madonna’s songs fit in well with the picture, as they’re cleverly used in ways that bring the story forward and add irony to key scenes. The performances are for the most part excellent. Warren Beatty is on form as eponymous detective and he works well in tangent with Charlie Korsmo as The Kid, who is both his partner and surrogate son. If the film has a recurring weakness, it’s in the lack of chemistry between him and leading lady Glenne Headly. There is certainly more discernible tension in scenes between him and Madonna, who turns in a good performance as the scheming, gangster’s moll. She is certainly no Oscar-winner, but neither is she the wooden disaster so many make her out to be
The cast of prosthetics-clad gangsters reads like a ‘Who’s Who’ of vintage character actors: Dustin Hoffman, James Caan, Paul Sorvino, William Forsythe, James Tolkan, etc. The outstanding performance here, though, is Al Pacino as Big Boy. Usually known for his more serious portrayal of villains in films like ‘The Godfather’ and ‘Dog Day Afternoon’ it is a delight watching him go gleefully over the top here. Big Boy is deluded, cruel and arrogant and makes a worthy adversary for Tracy
Not one of the most well-known comic book films going around, but it is still a joy to watch.

“10 Items or Less” Plot Summary
An actor (Freeman) prepping for an upcoming role meets a quirky grocery clerk (Vega), and the pair hit the road to show one another their respective worlds. add synopsis
A simple, enjoyable, and ‘down home’ kind of movie.
Bravo! Morgan Freeman is an actor, who researches a character he is selected to play, before he makes a commitment. Freeman is a ‘good fit’ for this film (like he was for ‘Driving Miss Daisy’), and he is not only believable, but he gets a chance to change his image of playing a character with reserved dignity and propriety. Although there are no guarantees in life, for anyone, this gives an actor a great opportunity to play different or unique characters that stand out, in order to avoid getting stereotyping. And it must be said that stereotyping has hampered, or completely ruined, a significant number of acting careers
This is a low-budget film that, amazingly, was made in a time span of only two weeks. It is a film that is well directed and written by Brad Silberling. The location manager chose Carson, CA for the film’s setting, and the location helps set the tone and timing for the film. The editing is fair to good, but a little rough
Silberling was the ’subcontractor’, in getting Freeman to do this film, while the actor was in-between film projects
There is a good chemistry between Freeman and Paz Vega, a Spanish actress, and this opens an effective dialog between each of the cast members, who are diverse and come from different cultures. The film also encourages an understanding between people, who not only speak two languages (English and Spanish), but come from two different worlds of ethnicity, race, gender, norms, mores, beliefs, folkways, principles, and values. The film strives for some honesty, and arrives at some truth, to maintain the film’s integrity
Part of the comedy is that Freeman plays an unemployed actor that has been out of work for four years. In truth, Freeman is so-in-demand as an actor that he is constantly working
The film offers an adventure of bonding, caring, sharing, changing, and exchanging. And, the film’s outtakes give the viewer a preview of some of things an actor must go through in preparing for a role
If necessary, tell your boss that you’re taking a ‘mental health day’, and go see this film. If you’re able, take your significant other or your family with you. I rank the film a 10 out of 10. It’s enjoyable, interesting, informative, poignant, and worthwhile.
