“Transformers” 2007 by Michael Bay – Movie Review

If you think that good battle-robots Autobots and bad battle-robots Decepticons have landed on our dearest planet Earth in 2007 – you’re strongly mistaken. Because they came to our world in the times of the notorious Moscow Olympiad-80, when suddenly bubble-gum and coca-cola appeared in Moscow for the first time. Although the robots landed not in Moscow but in Japan. That is where these amusing robots-transformers were invented. They were the models of different automobiles which then could be transformed into battle robots.

Autobots

Autobots

The American toy company Hasbro got interested in these toys and bought the rights to produce them in the US. Interested in the American toy company Hasbro, and then bought the rights to their production in the States. Due to the fact that they approach marketing in the USA with all the possible seriousness. That’s why these nameless by the time auto-robots received their personal names. Which is more, they received a whole history explaining which planet they came form and what they do here. Well, and thirdly, the whole comics industry started hard work on creating the epci story of the planet Cybertrone on which the good robots Autobots under the leadership of brave General Optimus Prime (originally it was Prime Time but later reduced to simply Prime) are fighting against the bad robots Decepticons headed by an treacherous Megatron.

Thus, everyone was happy: Hasbro sold megatons of transformers, the Marvel company produced mountains of comics, and Sunbow Production crafted animated cartoons about the adventures of elusive Autobots behind the Decepticons’ enemy line. In the end Sunbow even produced full-length animated film “Transformers” in which Autobots and Decepticons arrive on Earth and start all kinds of battles, while a guy named Spike is helping our folks Autobots. But the movie was a failure. Why? Either due to the fact that there were too many robots and too few people, or due to the fact that the kids already got fed up with transformers – it is hard to say. After that the Transformers have almost disappeared – people lost interested in them. The new type of heroes has settled in the kids’ hearts – Spiderman, Pokemons and the like, resulting in the transformers being forgotten in the far corners of dusty garages. Nobody was interested in the fate of the planet Cybertron anymore.

However, in the mid-nineties Hasbro managed to revive the interest in the transformers. They invented a new concept: robots can now be transformed into animals. After that when the creators imagination started to blossom with new models, the kids’ interest woke up again, resulting in creating fan-communities which could fiercely argue upon which transformer is more cool – a hamster/crocodile or eagle/ram type.

“Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen ” 2009 by Michael Bay – Movie Review

Michael Bay has created a miracle and made the second part of the movie not worse (and nobody is able to do it better) than the first.

Megan Fox Looking Hot

Megan Fox Looking Hot

To cut the long story short, let me tell you what is waiting for the audience of “Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen”: Megan Fox in sexy ultra-short shorts, robot-bikes (not as steep as in the “Terminator 4: Salvation“, but still cool), a funny robot turns into a toy RC jeep, Megan Fox in sexy leather pants, the nano-robot composed of small metal balls, a giant robot composed of 5 or 7 machines, Megan Fox in sexy white pants, large one-eyed jaguar robot, a huge robot with the giant steel balls, an awesome sexy blonde robot in panties and a metal tail at the level of the coccyx, and much much more.

Okay, in short, that’s almost all the plot of the second Transformers movie.

‘Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen” (2009) Plot Overview

While the good robots, who has signed in to protect the Earth from evil robots, are finding their way through the bureaucracy of the Ministry of Defense, and the bad robots are regrouping gloomily somewhere near Saturn, the grown-up hero of the first “Transformers” (LaBeouf) argues with clearly too cool for him car mechanic girl (Fox) about who is the first to say “I love you”, and explains why he is not taking the animate “Chevrolet” to the college with him. Higher education, however, is limited to falling into bed with a pornographic student and the demolition of the library – the trumpet calls, the giant robot says: “Sam, we need you”.

“Eagle Eye” Movie Review

“Eagle Eye” Plot Summary

Jerry and Rachel are two strangers thrown together by a mysterious phone call from a woman they have never met. Threatening their lives and family, she pushes Jerry and Rachel into a series of increasingly dangerous situations, using the technology of everyday life to track and control their every move.

I Liked It

Steven Spielburg is just hitting out blockbusters 3 times a year at least at the moment and this outing is definitely not different. The film is exciting, well acted and has been well thought out and directed

The film is about a slacker who gets drawn into a government scandal by a mysterious voice on a cell phone along with the mother of a young child who is performing at the white house and they eventual find themselves running from not only the machine, but the whole country of America as well. This leads to a very good movie I would definitely recommend to any movie goer

Anyway, Shia Labeouf is very good in this film and helps hold it together with Billy Bob Thornten, who, I must admit actually did a good job in this film

Overall, I think this film is a good watch and a good movie to watch with friends. It really does show that Steve is one of the masters of Hollywood. I rate it 74%

    “Constantine” Movie Review

    “Constantine” Plot Summary

Based on the DC/Vertigo comic book Hellblazer and written by Kevin Brodbin, Mark Bomback and Frank Capello, Constantine tells the story of irreverent supernatural detective John Constantine (Keanu Reeves), who has literally been to hell and back.

    Excellent fantasy/horror movie

I’ve seen Constantine three times and I enjoy it more each time I watch it! It is truly well-done and extremely entertaining, and I can guarantee that if you like horror, suspense and/or fantasy you will love this movie! Keanu Reeves plays a very cool Constantine, who is a modern-day exorcist but most certainly not to be confused with a priest, as he has his issues and a burden of sins from his past that he carries with him. Constantine is a very realistic and human hero who is devoid of superpowers but has all the cool gadgets and the kick-ass attitude needed to survive in a world slowly being invaded by demons and scheming angels. He meets Angela (Rachel Wiesz) after she loses her sister, Isabel to the forces of evil. She comes to Constantine in search of an answer on where Isabel has ended up following her apparent suicide. Constantine journeys to other realms/dimensions in an attempt to get those answers, even paying a couple of visits to hell. Needless to say, with such a plot the special effects, acting, sets, script and even wardrobe have to be carefully conceived and executed to make it believable, and they are… in spades

Constantine achieves what all great movies always do: it takes you into another world that makes you forget everything about your own world the whole time you are watching it. And really, in the end, isn’t that what great cinema is all about?

    “Charlie’s Angels 2″ Plot Summary

The Angels investigate a series of murders that occur after the theft of a witness protection profile database. Their prime suspects? A “fallen angel” who was once their ally and the Creepy Thin Man. add synopsis

One of the most entertaining, funnest, and enjoyable films in years!

This is not a film to be taken seriously. I love it! It is just such an entertaining film. The action is enjoyable and well done, although it is unrealistic, but that is why I loved it. The acting is good, the writing is of course so intentionally cheesy and corny, but I loved the plot! The women are HOT HOT HOT, and that is something that matters. I do not get why this film gets too much hate. Honestly, it is just done as a popcorn action film, and it works!!! It really is mindless, and that is why it is easier to enjoy than maybe other action films like Spider-Man (although another similar action-packed film Wanted is just better in every way and not mindless actually). Still, this film works for me, and I think it is better than the original.

    “The Forbidden Kingdom” Movie Review

    “The Forbidden Kingdom” Plot Summary

A discovery made by a kung fu obsessed American teen sends him on an adventure to China, where he joins up with a band of martial arts warriors in order to free the imprisoned Monkey King.

    A Chinese Fantastical Adventure

Jackie Chan and Jet Li get together for the first time on the screen to make a fantasy adventure film. Given the talents of both actors, this is a good blend of action and humor. The film is based on the ancient Chinese legend of the Monkey king who is a master a of gong-fu, magic and wisdom

The film starts with a American teenager(Michael Angarano) finding an ancient artifact in a pawnshop. Being a kung-fu enthusiast he takes it. But the artifact, which is in fact the favorite weapon of the Monkey king, transports him to ancient China. Here, he meets Golden Sparrow(Yifei Liu), an orphan girl whose parents were killed by the Warlord Jade(Collin Chou). He then meets Lu Yan(Jackie Chan) who is a master of Kungfu and the Monkey King(Jet Li). Together, they set off on a mission to bring down the Jade Warlord and free the people of his kingdom from his cruel ways. Director Rob Minkoff has made some fantastic films in the past like Stuart Little and Lion King. This should be a worthy addition to the list.

“Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” Movie Review

“Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” Plot Summary

Famed archaeologist/adventurer Dr. Henry “Indiana” Jones is called back into action when he becomes entangled in a Soviet plot to uncover the secret behind mysterious artifacts known as the Crystal Skulls.

    The adventure continues

(Minor spoilers) This is the first Indy film I got to see in a movie theater so I must say I was very excited when I arrived for a midnight screening. I don’t intend to write down an overly long introduction paragraph because most people will know who Indiana Jones is and if you don’t you should watch those movies immediately

Having said that I do feel the need to refer to Raiders of the Lost Ark when writing about Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Raiders started out as one idea being that of an action hero involved in a truck chase. After the action was written, they added a story. It seems like they did it the other way around this time as none of the action scenes are as memorable as the ones you’ve seen in the previous movies. They’re great, of course, but not instant classics like the boulder scene in raiders and the mine car chase in Temple of Doom and it sometimes feels as if the action is too uninspired. I sometimes felt like they needed to go a little bit more over the top but when they did, they kind of went too much over the top

Now the fans might think ‘Hey, wait a minute! I like the franchise, don’t bitch about it too much!’ To those fans I want to say that the reason I focus on the negative is because most of the negative reviews don’t cover the negative aspects of the film but rather Ford’s age and that this movie is ‘more of the same’. Now that I’ve seen the movie I can only assume that those negative reviews were written before the critics saw the movie because Ford’s age is really not an issue here and it seems like they miss the real flaws of the movie. The biggest flaw is that Indy finds clues which lead him to the next clue until he finally reaches his final destination with the greatest of ease, National Treasure style. Instead of trying to keep up with the villains, he’s always a step ahead until they finally catch him after which Indy escapes again by using his fists instead of his wit. Another flaw that many people will disagree with is that the jungle is not a good place for an adventure movie because it’s done too often

But there’s a reason I gave the movie an eight (I would give it a 7.5 if IMDb would let me). George Lucas said that the movie would be the same as the others but based on the movies of the fifties instead of serials from the thirties. However, the fifties and the thirties are so different that I don’t think it would have been possible to make this movie the same. It’s set in the fifties and the movie is made as if it were the fifties instead of 2008. People who studied film history will know what that means and some typical 1950s stuff, like paranoia caused by the communist threat, is present in the movie as well

I don’t want to spoil too much but I must warn the big Indy fans that this movie is different. Be prepared for everything so you won’t have a giant WTF floating above your head when the movie reaches its climax. It’s not as different as Phantom Menace was compared to the original Star wars trilogy so don’t expect too much unnecessary CGI. There is still a lot of stunt work and good humor and the acting is very good.
