    “Click” Movie Review

    “Click” Plot Summary

A workaholic architect finds a universal remote that allows him to fast-forward and rewind to different parts of his life. Complications arise when the remote starts to overrule his choices. add synopsis

    Funny & Touching – A Good Combination

This was a funny and – near the end – a touching movie. That’s a nice combination to have. My only complaint is that it certainly isn’t ‘family fare’ for a nice story and should have been rated ‘R,’ not PG-13. There’s simply too much sexual material (and and f-word) for PG-13. With some editing, this could have been a great story for everyone

However, for us adults who like to laugh, there is plenty in here to do that. The jokes come pretty fast, right from the get-go. The premise would good: with a (television-like) remote control, you could control your life. You could fast-forward through all the unpleasant scenes in your life, or freeze frame something that is happening now, or you could go back into time with your life. It all sounds good, but as our main character ‘Michael Newman’ (Adam Sandler) found out, it’s not so cool. That’s a key message here, too, that avoiding the bad things is not necessarily what’s best for us. The major message, however, was that spending time with your family is more important than putting your job ahead of them, as far as priorities go. That theme leads to some touching scenes in the final 30 minutes of this comedy. As funny as this film is, you would be hard-pressed not to have some tears in your eyes at some point near the end of this film

Sandler plays a typical role for him, and utters some great lines and uses sight gags as well for plenty of his laughs. Kate Bekinsale, who plays his wife ‘Donna,’ looks absolutely beautiful, the prettiest I’ve seen her since ‘Pearl Harbor.’ She plays a nice lady in here, too. Their little kids – especially the girl (Tatum McCann) – are cute and funny at times. I won’t mention the dog. I can’t without being crude. Christopher Walken is here, and that usually means good news as he tends to play fun-and-interesting characters. Unfortunately – just a warning – this comedy, as so many modern-day ones are, has its share of crude moments, some language and the above-mentioned sexual material. Overall, it was extremely, entertaining, however.

“Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” Movie Review

“HP and the Chamber of Secrets” Plot Summary

Harry ignores warnings not to return to Hogwarts, only to find the school plagued by a series of mysterious attacks and a strange voice haunting him.

    Worth the price of admission.

Warning to those who are avid fans of J.K. Rowling–I LOATHE the Harry Potter books. Yes, I have read them. I find her writing to be more than a little plagiaristic of the style of C.S. Lewis, but without the skill that he employed. That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed both this and the first movie. Frankly, I don’t care if the scriptwriters left this bit or that bit out; it is simply impossible for all parts of any novel to be completely included in a film without turning it into an epic of a minimum of seven hours, which is ridiculous. That is the nature of a film; much over two-and-a-half hours and the theatres are only going to be able to show a limited number of screenings, which will, of necessity, limit the profit to be made on the film–and the bottom line of any film project is ‘How much of a profit will it make?’. (And, of course, how many people are going to be able to sit through it without multiple bathroom breaks? I had to run out myself once, cursing, just when they were about to ‘follow the spiders’…)I found the casting to be clever and appropriate; of special note is, of course, the late Richard Harris as Dumbledore (and I wonder if they will make the obvious choice to replace him in the next movie with Max von Sydow, who could be made to look and sound exactly the same?) as well as the return of Robbie Coltrane and Alan Rickman. Both of these actors can actually act, as opposed to simply being screen personalities. The visual effects are stunning, although just a little too obviously digital in more than a few cases. The story is easily followed, which is more than I could say for the original books. The pacing was almost perfect; I only looked at my watch twice–my measure for a movie in which I am immersed. Both times occurred, I might add, when I was distracted by Rupert Grint’s voice obviously cracking–they’re going to have to do something about the fact that their stars are definitely more than a few miles down the road of adolescence

This movie, of course, is raking in the cash. Deservedly so; it’s not by any stretch of the imagination a movie of any deep and lasting meaning, but it gives good value for one’s entertainment dollar, and at the scandalous prices that movie admissions are reaching now, that is certainly a ringing endorsement. It was able to take me away from the insanity of a stressful holiday season, and for that reason alone I was completely satisfied. See if it can do the same for you.

    great one

Excellent movie with lots of new ideas. Such fun to watch funny creatures and all the sticky liquid coming out from the aliens. The combinations of Mr Duchovny and the other are great but some extra do not perform very well such as the scene at with the flying creatures

The last part where the movie almost end, looks so fake on the big huge aliens and that make this story weakness at that part. Other than that, all have been done very well.

    “50 First Dates” Movie Review

    “Fifty First Dates” Plot Summary

Henry Roth is a man afraid of commitment up until he meets the beautiful Lucy. They hit it off and Henry think he’s finally found the girl of his dreams, until he discovers she has short-term memory loss and forgets him the very next day.

    Very sweet feel good film

I will admit right now, I am not an Adam Sandler fan. However, I found this film to be surprisingly enjoyable. It is sweet and cute in places, and while certainly not a masterpiece it is above decent. A vast majority of the jokes work here, and that was great to see. The camera work was good making good use of the gorgeous scenery, and the soundtrack was lovely. I had little problem with the performances; Adam Sandler gives of his more likable performances, and Drew Barrymore is the persona of sweetness as his love interest. Out of the supporting performances, Rob Schneider guarantees a number of laughs, and Sean Astin comes close to stealing the film in places. But it is the chemistry of Sandler and Barrymore that shines through despite the flaws that mar it from being more than enjoyable

While Dan Ackroyd has a small appearance, it is sadly one that isn’t particularly memorable. The plot isn’t exactly original, and certainly isn’t the most interesting one ever. And the script does have its ups and downs, and is predictable. Overall though, it is a sweet feel good film. It has its flaws, but it is a brave attempt at a romantic comedy, and mainly because of the chemistry of the two leads it mostly succeeds. 7/10 Bethany Cox

    “The Final Destination” Movie Review

    “The Final Destination” Plot Summary

After a teen’s premonition of a deadly race-car crash helps saves the lives of his peers, Death sets out to collect those who evaded their end.

    I like 1-3 better…

I’ve enjoyed the Final Desitination series thus far. But in the 4th one I didn’t like it at all

I wish it would be a little longer than the what 80 or so minutes it is. It seemed rushed and was basically driven by death after death

The visions the teen sees are a lot more descriptive than the others in the older movies. So you can basically guess whats going to happen to the character(s).

Death now can magically move objects across the room. In the other movies death would be a wind blowing across the room that causes some object to fall over and start the death in motion. Now death moves objects itself which was less enjoyable

Finally in his premonition I wish they would have been more creative than just having like 10 characters die by being crushed by stands

What I did like about the movie though, were two of the deaths. Then escalator and the car wash attack (though the car wash scene wasn’t a death.) I still like the whole concept and I do hope they make another Final Destination movie that is improved. More realistic deaths and vaguer visions would be a far better movie.

    “GoldenEye” Movie Review

    “GoldenEye” Plot Summary

James Bond teams up with the lone survivor of a destroyed Russian research center to stop the hijacking of a nuclear space weapon by a fellow agent believed to be dead. add synopsis

Excellent Bond film and Brosnan’s best outing

Six years passed between the release of ‘Licence to Kill’ and ‘GoldenEye’, Pierce Brosnan’s debut as Bond, and those six years were clearly beneficial to the franchise. ‘GoldenEye’ has its fair share of flaws, but it feels revitalized and fresh, unlike the film it follows, ‘Licence to Kill’, a lethargic offering that was deservedly the lowest grossing Bond film when adjusted for inflation. ‘GoldenEye’ makes a clean break from previous franchise films, becoming self-aware for the first time and taking on an almost revisionist feel by casting Judi Dench as M and having her call Bond a ’sexist, misogynist dinosaur’. Even the Bond girls are in no way dependent on Bond- if you count the villain she was clearly the uh… ‘dominant’ half of that relationship, and even the ‘good’ girl bossed Bond around. In a way this is refreshing to see, and Brosnan fits the part excellently, never losing his composure, always with a witty one-liner to throw back. The main reason I like Brosnan a lot better than Moore is that he doesn’t take the ‘class’ act too far. He’s classy, charming, witty, but also cruel and ruthless when he needs to be. I don’t see the validity of the claims that he was the wimpiest Bond; he’s got far more physicality than Moore and a much harder edge, generally speaking. ‘GoldenEye’ does have its flaws, of course. The film could have been a whole 20 minutes shorter, the musical score is not one of the best of the franchise (but not nearly as bad as some suggest), and the humor, outside of Brosnan’s one-liners, falls flat most of the time. I’m also not sure about the huge emphasis on technology, which is taken too far at times here, and would be taken even farther into the land of the completely ridiculous later in the series. Then again, it was the mid-90’s and technology was a hot topic. The film handles its subject matter well for the most part. The film’s action set-pieces are terrific and the sets look beautiful. One of the things that impressed me most about ‘GoldenEye’ is that when it went for drama it succeeded reasonably well. Sean Bean and Famke Janssen make a terrific team of villains and Martin Campbell keeps the film moving at a swift pace, drastically improving on John Glen’s work in ‘Licence to Kill’.'GoldenEye’ may not be the best Bond film, but it’s a welcome addition to the series. Brosnan is not as good a Bond as Connery at his best, but he’s on par with Lazenby and Dalton, if not better, and most certainly better than Roger Moore. 20 minutes shorter and ‘GoldenEye’ could have been an absolute classic, but as it is it’s an excellent Bond offering and one of the better Bond films. The title song is terrific, isn’t it?8/10

    “First Knight” Movie Review

    “First Knight” Plot Summary

Lancelot falls in love with Guinevere, who is due to be married to King Arthur. Meanwhile, a violent warlord tries to seize power from Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. add synopsis

    my favorite ending

In almost all other interpretations of this legend, Guenevere is seen as a woman who cannot choose between two young men that love her. In this movie, Arthur is portrayed as a very mature older man who knows he wants Guenevere as his wife but that she might choose him for the wrong reasons. He gives her protection of her lands without marriage and she refuses. He never loses his wisdom and never forgets his duties as king in face of his crazy private life. Lancelot is presented as a wandering young man who ‘knows when a woman wants him’ and cannot understand Guenevere’s refusal of him time and time again. However, he is not fickle, and has known true loss. His love for Guenevere is always constant. Guenevere is in turmoil but is never seen as flighty. She loves both men in different ways but does not know why. Instead of her having to betray either man completely, the production allows for one of her lovers to die and encourage Guenevere and the other lover to be together. I think this is a brilliant way to end the movie and one that allows all the characters complete fulfillment

This movie also simplifies the plot enough that the movie is not chopped and confusing or hours and hours long. I never have been able to understand Morgan and appreciate a different antagonist. I can see why this movie was not liked as it came out the same year as Braveheart and Rob Roy and wish the producers had not released for at least one year and it might have been better received.

    “The Two Towers” Plot Summary

Frodo and Sam continue on to Mordor in their mission to destroy the One Ring. Whilst their former companions make new allies and launch an assault on Isengard.

    Life enhancing

If you are reading this review (or indeed any other) trying to assess whether or not you should watch this film then please read no further and just go and slip in the DVD and let the sights and sounds of Middle Earth wash over you. Nothing I, or indeed anyone else, can say should help you to form an opinion prior to watching. I guess the audience for the three films fall into two categories; those who have read the books and those who have not. Those who have not, in my experience, tend to be overwhelmed by the absolute majesty of the vision but a little non-plussed by the actual story – seeing it as just some rather dopey fantasy; a Star Wars trilogy set in past times for the modern audience if you like. Then there is the ‘yes, I have read the books’ class who in general seem to have a kind of smug arrogance grounded in comments such as ‘they left out too much’, ‘its not what I imagined’ or ‘Of course its all an allegory for the rise of the third Reich’. Tolkein bemoaned the lack of an heroic mythology for the English people and he sought to create one in his Rings trilogy of books. My opinion is too humble to count – but if you want it, I believe he succeeded. The epic backdrop, the heroes and villains, the rich history, the races and the languages are all utterly plausible as a long cherished story handed down over many generations. Peter Jackson and his team must be congratulated not only for their wonderful realisation of Middle Eath and its inhabitants; but for crafting a series a movies that captured the very essence of what Tolkein was trying to achieve. Well done also for leaving out Tom Bombadil.

“The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King” Movie Review

“The Return of the King” Plot Summary

The former Fellowship of the Ring prepare for the final battle for Middle Earth, while Frodo & Sam approach Mount Doom to destroy the One Ring.

    The greatest epic ever made

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King is, hands down, among the most spectacular and magnificent films of all time

A short run-down of the plot: After the battle of Helm’s Deep and Saruman’s imprisonment in his tower Orthanc, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli and Gandalf re-group with Merry and Pippin in Isengard. There they learn that the army of Sauron is planning a full-scale attack on the largest city of men – Minas Tirith in Gondor. Gandalf and Pippin ride to Minas Tirith to warn Denethor, the steward of Gondor, of the threat from Mordor. Defenses are built up as the army of Sauron marches across the Pelennor Fields towards Minas Tirith. A distress call is sent to Rohan, still recovering from Helm’s Deep. Rohan manage to muster a large army, and set out for Minas Tirith, but the battle has already begun. In the meantime, we continue with Sam and Frodo on their quest to destroy the One Ring

A major achievement of this epic film is the character development. Gollum becomes more cunning and sneaky than ever, and manages to turn Frodo against Sam, who is desperately trying his best to get his old Frodo back. Merry and Pippin are no longer just a source of comic relief, both of them prove themselves worthy as they are split up for the final battle. We learn about the true bravery and potential of hobbits as Merry helps cut down the Witch King. Eowyn also proves herself in the film, as she defies her uncle and sets out to Pelennor fields with the other Rohirrim, and eventually destroys the Witch King, and makes a very feminist remark while doing so. We learn to loathe Denethor because of his hatred of his last remaining son, Faramir, who really hasn’t done anything wrong. The peak of our hatred for Denethor is reached in the scene where he tells Faramir that he would have preferred it if he had died instead of Boromir, his brother. And then, right after that, Denethor sends Faramir into certain suicide, and Faramir immediately accepts the mission he is appointed to, in a final attempt to please his father. And of course, Aragorn learns to accept his fate as the true king of men

In fact, the character development is so powerful that we actually participate in the character’s feelings. We FEEL Frodo’s exhaustion and agony as he literally drags himself across Mordor. We feel Sam’s pain as Frodo is turned against him. And, just briefly, we participate in Gollum’s triumph as he finally gets the One Ring. We are actually happy for Gollum and just for a brief moment, Frodo becomes the bad guy as he tries to take the ring back. All in all, Return of the King contains the most moving, emotional and touching scenes in the entire trilogy, and some of the best acting, especially from Sean Astin (Sam), Elijah Wood (Frodo), Ian McKellen (Gandalf), John Noble (Denethor, he is very successful in adding depth to his character), Miranda Otto (Eowyn), and of course, Andy Serkis (Smeagol, and top-notch at it, just like in The Two Towers).

The battle of Pelennor fields may be THE most spectacular and epic sequence in film history. Unlike Helm’s Deep, Pelennor Fields shows the true cleverness of Sauron’s army. Orcs are not the only participants; trolls are heavily used in the battle, as warriors and as beasts of burden. The nazgul are very significant in the battle, and while the Witch King didn’t actually lead the battle as he did in the book, the nine ringwraiths and their fell beasts still play a key part and do lots of damage in the battle. We see just how powerful the nazgul really are. And of course, the men from the south and their massive oliphaunts play a significant part. While in Helm’s Deep we felt triumphant, in Pelennor fields we only feel the triumph briefly, as the Rohirrim make their charge into the horde of orcs and trolls. The triumph in Pelennor Fields almost immediately dissolves, as the Rohirrim are trampled down by the oliphaunts. The battle is won, but we’re not happy, we’re grieved for all the destruction, all the losses. It’s a totally different feeling than Helm’s Deep, and makes this battle all the more superior

Return of the King features the most magnificent visuals in the entire trilogy. Whether they are of Minas Tirith, Pelennor Fields and Osgiliath, Mordor and the slopes of Mt. Doom or the climb to Shelob’s cave near Minas Morgul, Peter Jackson really shows us the true impact of these landscapes and images

Many people may complain about the changes in the movie, especially the significant cut of Saruman from the end, but you must realize that if they would have featured the whole part with Saruman the movie would have continued another hour and a half. Don’t fret; Peter Jackson said the scenes will all appear in the extended version of the film. The ending is long enough as it is, and the film continues at least another half an hour after the Ring is no more. The hobbits return to the shire, and Sam marries Rosie. Aragorn meets his fate and is crowned king, and is finally reunited with Arwen. And of course, one of the most moving scenes in the movie, in which Frodo gets on the last ship to the Undying lands with Bilbo, Gandalf, and the last of the elves (Galadriel and Elrond to name a few), and must part with his three hobbit friends for good

All in all, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King is one the most fine-tuned, cinematically perfect films ever made, it’s absolutely flawless in every aspect. The Lord of the Rings trilogy as a whole is a spectacular achievement in film making history, and all three movies are together, without a doubt, the greatest epic ever made.

    “Friday the 13th” Movie Review

    “Friday the 13th” Plot Summary

Camp counselors are stalked and murdered by an unknown assailant while trying to re-open a summer camp that was the site of a child’s drowning.

The film that started it all

Friday the 13th, as we all know, it’s the film that started it all when it came to one of the most memorable boogeymen, Jason Vorhees. I’m afraid though that this isn’t the film that he stars in, it’s actually his mother that started the whole ‘have sex and die’ sacred rule of horror movies. Friday the 13th has kind of a harsh rating here on IMDb, this is a classic in some sense I think, it’s the ultimate sleepover movie and still gives me a little scare when I watch it in the dark. Friday the 13th also started the cheesy acting, un-needed sex scenes, blood, and gore; wither that’s a good or bad thing, I’m still not sure, but one thing that Friday the 13th does deliver is awesome death scenes that will never disappoint. It’ll also make you think twice about going to camp

A group of young adults are opening up Camp Crystal Lake after 20 years, the place has been dubbed as a cursed camp where two young counselors were brutally murdered and a young boy drowned. But the group continues getting the camp ready, but when a nasty storm ensues, the group separates and does their own thing. But one by one, they keep disappearing, but when Alice, one of the camp counselors is concerned with how everyone is not returning, she goes to find a nasty discovery and will have to survive the most terrifying night of her life

Friday the 13th is a memorable film in it’s own right, I know that the performances are horrible, I mean, this is no Halloween, but it’s a different concept and scared a lot of people. I remember it scared me as a kid to go to camp, that’s for sure. But it has tense music and very scary scenes and it keeps the best going, along with a huge amount of sequels to come, we’re up to 20, right? LOL, just kidding, it’s only 10 that I’m aware of, but I would recommend Friday the 13th for the horror fans, it’s always a fun movie to watch.7/10
