“Cradle 2 the Grave” Movie Review

“Cradle to the Grave” Plot Summary

A jewel thief’s daughter is kidnapped after he steals a collection of prized black diamonds, which aren’t at all what they seem. add synopsis

    Loved this little flick

Hey, it’s not Fellini, but I didn’t expect Fellini. It’s a good, old-fashioned, good guys vs bad guys kind of flick. One that’s fairly predictable, you can sit back, grab the popcorn, and just wait for the guys in the white hats to kick the butts of the guys with the black hats

So, the actors aren’t the best I’ve ever seen, but I was actually surprised and pleased with DMX’s performance, probably because I didn’t expect much and I don’t care for his ‘music’ at all. If nothing else, his character did come across as likable and he may surprise us all and improve with time. Both the movies I’ve seen him in, he at least portrays the ‘bad guy who’s not a bad guy at all,’ and at least gets a couple of points from me for trying to be a positive role model. I’ve seen Oscar winners who had worse performances, and people are being pretty hard on him on this board, but I think he did more than OK for the material he had to work with

The movie is provided with the obligatory comic relief with Tom Arnold and Anthony Anderson, and some other supporting actors with whom I’m not familiar, and of course the Jet Li fight sequences are always worth watching. How anyone can move that fast is incredible and I could watch him read the Yellow pages aloud just to watch the fights

So, if it’s a good, old-fashioned throwback to the good guys vs bad guys movie you’re in the mood for, check it out

    I doubt you’ll be disappointed.

    “Shanghai Noon” Movie Review

    “Shanghai Noon” Plot Summary

Jackie Chan plays a Chinese man who travels to the Wild West to rescue a kidnapped princess. After teaming up with a train robber, the unlikely duo takes on a Chinese traitor and his corrupt boss. add synopsis

perfect blend of action and comedy, the funniest western ever

This movie is a perfect blend of action and comedy. This movie stars Jackie Chan as Chon Wang, one of the soldiers of the army of the forbidden city in China. When the princess leaves and goes to America it is up to Chon to bring her back. When he gets to Nevada, where most of the story takes place he meets Roy O’Bannon played by Owen Wilson u’ll ever meet. He is a wanted outlaw and in an odd chain of events they become a duo. This is the funniest western, this movie surpasses Blazing Saddles by far. Blazing Saddles is funny but the one-liners that Owen Wilson drop are just so hilarious. ‘I don’t know Karate but I do know crazy, and I will use it’. Lucy Lui also stars as the Princess This movie is definitely worth seeing but you kinda wanna steer clear of the sequel ‘Shanghai Knights’ It does not do the first film justice. I have never been able to complete the second one mainly because it is boring. But salutes to Shanghai Noon the funniest western to date. 9 out of 10

    “Observe and Report” Plot Summary

Very good, great messages in the film!

For those who didn’t like it, they probably don’t like dry comedy. The movie had some very serious undertones. The theme about fulfilling your goals and continuing to strive towards your dream no matter what the adversity is, are both positive and powerful messages which is a strong mix with some very crude but acceptable humor. This movie delivered some very positive messages and was very funny in the process, messages that wouldn’t have been as powerful had it been a film like 40-Year-Old-Virgin, which even itself had some serious undertones in it by the end of the film. There is nothing depicted in this film that you haven’t heard illustrated in a dirty joke, and people are taking it way too seriously.

    “Hero” Movie Review

    “Ying xiong” Plot Summary

A series of Rashomon-like flashback accounts shape the story of how one man defeated three assassins who sought to murder the most powerful warlord in pre-unified China.

    Beautiful.

In all honesty, Hero required a bit more patience than I thought. Tarantino wanted to present this movie to North American audiences so I thought there would have been more action, but surprise! There is much drama in Hero and the movie begins with one intention and unfolds, in a deceptively beautiful fashion, into a legend that is much larger than the characters themselves are involved! Why did it have to take so long to prove such a point?Anyway, a man who shall remain Nameless has dispatched the kingdom’s three top assassins, thus easing the King’s mind that he could sleep at night. But the King is curious and we see the true story and how the tale unfolds

The fights are beautiful. The battle between Snow and Moon, though lopsided, was a joy. It was art in itself. But overall, be patient. With the many changes in the story, I lost my concentration adjusting to it. But any fan of martial arts and drama must see this movie. It is that elegant.

    “Hero” Movie Review

    “Accidental Hero” Plot Summary

A not-so-nice man rescues passengers from a crashed airliner, only to see someone else take credit. add synopsis

    A Very Good Film

I found this little gem in the bargain bin and liked the theme, so I thought I’d give it a try. And it more than delivered

Here is a truly thoughtful satire that considers what it really means to be a ‘hero’. More important, it seeks to find the heroic in everyday peoples’ actions in the midst of a media culture that is constantly on the lookout for genuine heroes and, finding none, manufactures grandiose imitations instead

The theme of heroism is everywhere in this film, and it might even sound like it is preaching a bit at times, particularly in Andy Garcia’s final monologue on the subject. But it all comes together quite well and ends with a lot of heart. The acting is superb, the screenplay is focused, and I was amazed how well Hero combines the entertainment of fiction with the thoughtfulness of a documentary. If you are interested in the theme of heroism I would highly recommend this film. 9/10.

    “Bulletproof Monk” Movie Review

    “Bulletproof Monk” Plot Summary

Based on the very underground comic book, a Tibetan monk becomes a mentor to a young street kid whom he can teach to protect a scroll. add synopsis

    A good film

It wont change the world but I feel that watching this movie was not a waste of my time. It’s entertaining and in some places rather funny. So what if Sean William Scott isn’t the greatest actor ever he’s more than suitable for the of kar a petty thief who runs into the ‘bullet proof’ monk played as always with charm buy Chow Yun Fat (or Yun Fat Chow whatever u wont to say). There are only two real criticisms I have about this film the first is that I felt that the Kar/Monk relationship could have been built upon a bit more, when Kar says (just after monk has been kidnapped) Monk is the only family I’ve got I though but u only new him a few days, if they were supposed to had trained even for a few weeks I could had believed there bond a bit better. The second is that the villain was rather weak. His grandchild would have made a better on her own that bye taking orders from an old megalomaniac. All in all put fun doesn’t bring anything new but it doesn’t try to 7/10.
