“15 Minutes” Plot Summary
A homicide detective and a fire marshall must stop a pair of murderers who commit videotaped crimes to become media darlings. add synopsis
I LOVED IT
I haven’t read the critic’s reviews but I heard that they didn’t love it…however I did. Furthermore, I don’t like or always trust most critics. Anyway, back to the matter at heart.’15 Minutes’ is a graphic, often disturbing, roller-coaster ride of a film which basically depicts how sleazy the media can be. The acting is SUPERB and the characters are very believable. DeNiro gives an outstanding performance as a famous local cop who is obviously well respected and good at what he does. Ed Burns is the local fire marshall who also does a wonderful job of acting humble to DeNiro’s somewhat flamboyant character. The men who play the killers are INCREDIBLE actors who play sociopaths at their finest. Kelsey Grammar does a wonderful job as the sleazeball journalist who will do anything for a good story. While I didn’t like his character, I loved to hate him, which is always a good thing
There is a lot of graphic violence in this movie, which didn’t bother me but may bother some. It is definitely not a movie for kids. The only problem I had with this film was it’s cliched message. I mean, we already know that the media is sleazy, but what makes ‘15 Days’ special is the way in which Grammar gets a hold of his sleazy footage. That, to me, was unique
If you’re a DeNiro fan don’t miss this one.

“Wag the Dog” Plot Summary
Before elections, a spin-doctor and a Hollywood producer join efforts to “fabricate” a war in order to cover-up a presidential sex scandal.
Super but certainly not for all tastes
This is a super-cynical film that is incredibly entertaining, insightful and oh, so jaded! The problem is that although it’s got a brilliant script, the film will only appeal to a small select audience. Die-hard Clinton lovers will NOT appreciate the film as it’s a thinly veiled criticism of the Clinton presidency–particularly since the film is about some completely amoral spin-doctors doing ANYTHING to save the butt of an amoral politician. Clinton lovers probably can’t admit the truth of this aspect of his personality. Die-hard Clinton haters will no doubt love the film. Frankly, I’m rather Libertarian in view and think the nonsense in this film could apply to ANY politician, so those jaded viewers (like myself) will probably appreciate the edgy and dark humor.

“A Bronx Tale” Plot Summary
A father becomes worried when a local gangster befriends his son in the Bronx in the 1960s.
A Very Pleasant Surprise
I watched this film last night for the first time
I am a great fan of The Godfather trilogy but overall find the ‘gangster film’ genre just too violent and the use of F— word every other word tedious and numbing. When my husband suggested watching A Bronx Tale I intended to see much of the same bloodshed. I was to be pleasantly surprised
This wonderful movie quickly drew me in with its sensitive portrayal of its father and son and the soon to be introduced conflict of the relationship developed between the son and the local mob boss
Many reviewers have retold the story and so I will not waste time with another rehash. In the end it is a film full of love and sensitivity and a new, fresh look at the possibility that a Mafia boss can care and love a boy who does not share his blood and want the best for him and knows that the best is not to ‘be him’. C has the good fortune to have two men care deeply about his well being and his future. How many children are in this world who have no one who cares about how they turn out
Robert DeNiro proves that he is not only a gifted actor, but a wonderful, sensitive director with a keen sense of storytelling. And what can you say about Chazz Palminteri’s story and screenplay which is a reflection of his own youth? Amazing
What started out as a ‘I’ll sit through this movie because my husband wants to see it’ turned into a memorable two hours. I’ll watch it again and will recommend it to anyone who will listen. Bravo gentlemen!

“Taxi Driver” Plot Summary
A mentally unstable Vietnam war veteran works as nighttime taxi driver in a city whose perceived decadence and sleaze feeds his urge to violently lash out, attempting to save a teenage prostitute in the process.
Best movie of the Seventies, and one of the greatest of all time.
So much has been written and talked about ‘Taxi Driver’ that it seems almost redundant to add anything more. But watching it again the other night for the nth time I was, as I have been every single time I’ve seen it, struck by just how perfect this movie is. It is as powerful and disturbing now as it was twenty-five years ago. It has not only NOT aged, it gets better and more relevant every year. This is without doubt a modern classic, and one of the handful of truly great, timeless movies
Scorsese and Schrader went on to make other great movies after this, both separately (‘The King Of Comedy’, ‘Light Sleeper’) and together (‘Raging Bull’, ‘The Last Temptation Of Christ’), but this is easily the best movie of their careers. And Robert De Niro’s too. He has yet to top his stunning performance here as the deeply disturbed and alienated Vietnam veteran Travis Bickle, cabbie and would be assassin. This character has not surprisingly entered movie legend. Scorsese surrounds De Niro with a first rate supporting cast, including small but effective roles from Harvey Keitel (‘Reservoir Dogs’), Peter Boyle (‘Hardcore’), the underrated Victor Argo (‘The King Of New York’) and Joe Spinell (‘Maniac’). Albert Brooks and Jodie Foster are also very good, and even Cybil Shepherd, the butt of many jokes, is fine as Bickle’s obsession
When you combine these actors, Schrader’s outstanding script, and Scorsese’s brilliant direction, with the stunning cinematography (Michael Chapman) and haunting score (Hitchcock fave Bernard Herrmann’s final effort), you have yourself a truly unforgettable cinematic experience. If you haven’t seen ‘Taxi Driver’ I urge you to do so immediately. It is a masterpiece, pure and simple.

“Cast Away” Movie Review
“Cast Away” Plot Summary
A FedEx executive must transform himself physically and emotionally to survive a crash landing on a deserted island.
Simply wonderful!!
This is a marvelous, heartwarming, engaging movie that features the genius of Tom Hanks. The film was neither too long or boring; it was just right. It might have been boring if it’d been anyone other than Hanks, but as usual, he melts into his role and delivers a riveting performance.
Kudos to Zemeckis also in capturing Hanks’ ordeal on the island, from his weight loss to his desolation. This is one of the best ‘Robinson Crusoe’ type adaptations I’ve seen.
And Hanks’ journey back to civilization was so interesting and moving. He superbly played the part of the person who’s struggling to find his place after being out of touch for five years! The scenes are so touching, especially his reunion with Hunt.
I was almost convinced this was based on an actual account, so much so I was looking to see the trailers at the end of the movie, saying ‘Based on the real life account of…’
Tom Hanks is one of the best character actors of his generation, right alongside of Robert Duvall, Robert DeNiro, Dustin Hoffman, Robin Williams, Gene Hackman, Morgan Freeman, and Russell Crowe.
As an aside, this is the only movie I’ve seen that’s been a showcase of a corporate logo from beginning to end (and not a bad association, I might add), to which I wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t produced by FedEx. ;-)
If you’re looking for something more than the shallow and contrived dramatics of the reality series Survivor, or a movie without the standard pyrotechnics or other adrenalin boosting gimmicks, then this film will be well worth your time.
It’s a human interest story, pure and simple.
I was so drawn in that when the movie ended, I really wanted to see what happens to Chuck in the new phase of his life, after meeting his next potential love interest at the very end of the film.
I guess that’s left up to the imagination. Happily ever after. :-)
Enjoy a superb tour de force performance by Hanks.

“Ronin” Movie Review
“Ronin” Plot Summary
A freelancing former US intelligence agent tries to track down a mysterious package that is wanted by both the Irish and the Russians.
Successful, Machine-Processed Action Movie.
I’m going to give it a 6 partly because it was shot in Paris, Nice, and Arles. It gives you a tourist’s eye view of France in the winter, including a chilly, overcast Riviera and Van Gogh’s Yellow House, morphed into what looks like an overpriced cafe
Other than that, this is an action movie stripped down to the bare bones. The characters are as rudimentary as the plot. A handful of unemployed professionals are hired by Natascha McIlhone (representing the Irish) to ambush a convoy of cars transporting a curious-looking case, the contents of which have been sold to the Russians. I think I’ve got that right. If I haven’t, it doesn’t matter. The conspicuously aluminum case is an operational definition of a MacGuffin. What’s in it? Who knows and who cares? The whole movie is built around its action sequences and they are plentiful. There is a meeting between the professionals and the French gangsters who are to supply them with equipment for the heist. It turns into a shoot out. The convoy is intercepted and it turns into a car chase. It ends in a shoot out, during which one of the professionals, Gregor, turns into a cockroach. There’s another car chase through tunnels and whatnot that destroys so many vehicles it surely would have cleared even the Parisian streets of traffic. The end involves a couple of murders. Even Katarina Witt gets it, which is a dirty trick
Novelties? Not too many. Well, I suppose that in the course of these pursuits and battles, it’s a novelty to see innocent bystanders get plowed down or shot up or blown up. The zipping cars smash through the usual food stands and push carts but I don’t remember their ever doing it on such narrow streets
There isn’t any noticeable development of character. That is, nobody changes in any fundamental way. Michael Lonsdale, as a rich old man, and Stellan Skarsgard, as Gregor the dung beetle, give the best performances. Rober DeNiro, a fine actor, seems out of place in all this European company. Natascha McIlhone has a somber, angular, and sexy face but I wouldn’t trust her as far as I could throw her, which isn’t very far. I like Jean Reno best of all. Regard that face, that voice! The guy looks like he’s coming down from a week-long bout with the bottle. There aren’t that many international movie stars at whom I can look without saying to myself, ‘I wish I were that handsome.’ Aside from bullets and baggage, what is the movie about? It seems to be about itself. There’s nothing much behind what you see. It’s like buying ‘roast beef’ at a modern deli. Roast beef, my foot. It’s machine-processed beef, scraped right down to the bone, then pureed and solidified and seasoned so that it looks a little — just a little — like what it purports to be. There’s some phony philosophy from Michael Lonsdale’s sage, who tells DeNiro the story of the forty-seven ronin — who planned and waited for years for an opportunity to avenge their betrayed master — but it has nothing to do with the movie. Lonsdale’s thoughtfully delivered lesson might as well have been the Gilgamesh epic, or Huckleberry Finn, for that matter. It’s an attempt to coat the plot with some portentous uber-meaning, but that just makes it the same processed stuff under a thin, negligible shell of pastry, like Beef Wellington
I’ve made this sound like a pretty crummy movie but it’s not, if you like action movies. The director knows exactly what he’s doing. The editing is superb, as it has to be to make this genre piece a success. The shootouts, collisions, and deaths are in real time, not slow motion. It may not be pregnant with meaning but it’s diverting, exciting, and not insulting to the viewer who’s willing to shrug and say, ‘For an action movie, this one isn’t too bad.’

“Men of Honor” Plot Summary
The story of Carl Brashear, the first African American, then also the first amputee, US Navy Diver and the man who trained him.
Pretty Good Film!
I think that this film is a good movie. There are some boring parts and some really good parts. Most of the time, I was attached to this movie. Everyone in this movie did a really good job
This film is based on the life of Carl Brashear. He was going to be first at two things. He was going to be the first black Navy diver and the first diver to dive with a prosthetic leg
The acting is really good. I liked Robert De Niro so much. He is a truly deserving actor and he showed what a great actor he is. I liked Cuba Gooding Jr. as Brashear. He gave a memorable performance
Overall, this film is a good movie. Some parts even moved me somewhat especially some scenes towards the end. This is a nice biographical movie. I rate this film 8/10.

Great fun
A really terrific movie even if it does suffer from some plot holes and overly sentimental and long scenes, The Untouchables remains one of DePalma’s best, probably his last great film to date. Connery and Garcia are fantastic, and **spoiler alert** Connery’s death scene remains one of the best ever **. But as good as they are, De Niro’s Capone is a highlight, especially the ‘baseball’ scene. Well shot and well written as well. Lots of fun!

“Raging Bull” Movie Review
“Raging Bull” Plot Summary
An emotionally self-destructive boxer’s journey through life, as the violence and temper that leads him to the top in the ring, destroys his life outside it.
Incredible acting
‘Raging Bull’ is a masterpiece of filmmaking. It is entertaining, but to me, it is more of a technical movie than an entertaining movie
The acting is undescribable. Some terrific performances are featured in this film, especially Robert De Niro’s performance, which is the stuff of legends. It was probably one of the most predictable Academy Awards ever that year, because Robert De Niro just blew everyone else away. Joe Pesci brings us another amazing performance. Martin Scorsese’s directing is near perfect, and we are treated to great black and white cinematography. Basically everything about this movie had ‘OSCAR’ stamped on its forehead
Although ‘Raging Bull’ is, in a technical sense, one of the greatest movies ever made, it fails to entertain on all levels. There are many moments in the movie that are incredibly entertaining, however, there are some moments where it just seems to be too slow-paced. I am usually all for slow-paced movies, as it helps to build up the plot and the characters, but I feel that ‘Raging Bull’ could have been cut short 15 or 20 minutes and it would have been more entertaining, and still just as great when it comes to all the technical aspects
Sum-up: If you are looking for some of the best acting you will ever see, look no further than ‘Raging Bull.’ If you want entertainment, you will find it in ‘Raging Bull’, but it probably won’t be as much entertainment as you want.

“Meet the Fockers” Plot Summary
All hell breaks loose when the Byrnes family meets the Focker family for the first time.
Very Hilarious Sequel Be Ready for a Non-Stop Laughing Mode
In this very hilarious sequel, Gaylord Myron Focker (Ben Stiller), his pregnant fiancee Pamela Byrnes (Teri Polo), his future father-in-law and retired CIA agent Jack Byrnes (Robert De Niro) and his future mother-in-law Dina Byrnes (Blythe Danner) travel to Florida to visit Greg’s parents, Bernie Focker (Dustin Hoffman) and the sex-therapist Roz Focker (Barbra Streisand). The dispute between the ‘Focker-ized’ and very ‘Zen’ family and the rigid and paranoid Jack Byrnes made me burst in a ‘non-stop laughing’ mode not only along the movie, but also after, recalling the funny scenes and gags. The talent of Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro as comedians is very well-known by the audiences, but Dustin Hoffman surprised me how funny he is. Barbra Streisand is also excellent, and the jokes with the English word ‘Focker’ are great. For my surprise, there are IMDb users that hated this movie, probably bitter people without sense of humor that unfortunately we stumble in our lives. If the reader of my simple review wants to laugh, see this movie. My vote is eight
