“Transformers” 2007 by Michael Bay – Movie Review
If you think that good battle-robots Autobots and bad battle-robots Decepticons have landed on our dearest planet Earth in 2007 – you’re strongly mistaken. Because they came to our world in the times of the notorious Moscow Olympiad-80, when suddenly bubble-gum and coca-cola appeared in Moscow for the first time. Although the robots landed not in Moscow but in Japan. That is where these amusing robots-transformers were invented. They were the models of different automobiles which then could be transformed into battle robots.
The American toy company Hasbro got interested in these toys and bought the rights to produce them in the US. Interested in the American toy company Hasbro, and then bought the rights to their production in the States. Due to the fact that they approach marketing in the USA with all the possible seriousness. That’s why these nameless by the time auto-robots received their personal names. Which is more, they received a whole history explaining which planet they came form and what they do here. Well, and thirdly, the whole comics industry started hard work on creating the epci story of the planet Cybertrone on which the good robots Autobots under the leadership of brave General Optimus Prime (originally it was Prime Time but later reduced to simply Prime) are fighting against the bad robots Decepticons headed by an treacherous Megatron.
Thus, everyone was happy: Hasbro sold megatons of transformers, the Marvel company produced mountains of comics, and Sunbow Production crafted animated cartoons about the adventures of elusive Autobots behind the Decepticons’ enemy line. In the end Sunbow even produced full-length animated film “Transformers” in which Autobots and Decepticons arrive on Earth and start all kinds of battles, while a guy named Spike is helping our folks Autobots. But the movie was a failure. Why? Either due to the fact that there were too many robots and too few people, or due to the fact that the kids already got fed up with transformers – it is hard to say. After that the Transformers have almost disappeared – people lost interested in them. The new type of heroes has settled in the kids’ hearts – Spiderman, Pokemons and the like, resulting in the transformers being forgotten in the far corners of dusty garages. Nobody was interested in the fate of the planet Cybertron anymore.

However, in the mid-nineties Hasbro managed to revive the interest in the transformers. They invented a new concept: robots can now be transformed into animals. After that when the creators imagination started to blossom with new models, the kids’ interest woke up again, resulting in creating fan-communities which could fiercely argue upon which transformer is more cool – a hamster/crocodile or eagle/ram type.

” Alien?” 1992 by David Fincher – Movie Review
A rare case for Hollywood: the “Alien 3″ movie is so bizarre, so non-for-profit that it is pretty surprising it got shot and released to the theatres. The film has undergone an unusually complex preparation process: the script was at different times written by the famous cyberpunk writer William Gibson and screenwriter Eric Red, among the previous assigned directors were Renny Harlin and Vincent Ward (director of the “The Navigator: A Mediaeval Odyssey”, 1988), some of Ward’s storyline ideas entered the final script, which was then modified by producers David Giler and Walter Hill. The latter said later that in the “Alien 3″ he sees a certain connotations associated with the AIDS virus: well, it might be the way it is. The last of the directors, David Fincher, by the time was known mostly for a few inventive rock-music videos. Subsequently this director got famous for strong thrillers “Se7en” (1995) and “The Game” (1997).
Alien 3 Plot Summary
A remote planet, neglected ore refinery- a correctional facility for especially dangerous criminals with extra Y-chromosome. An escape vessel in which Ripley, Newt, Hicks, and a droid called Bishop are traveling on crash lands on Fiorina 161. Unfortunately, although Newt and Hicks do not survive the crash, the brisk and tenacious form of life does and it is probably somewhere nearby, in the endless factory ventilation shafts. The rescuer team from the Corporation is already speeding to rescue, though who knows whom exactly they are going to save? Therefore Ripley and the local black sanctimonious leader have raised the convicts to fight the alien monster – and the alien habitually tears all the living beings into parts but somehow it doesn’t touch the heroine.

“Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels” Plot Summary
Four London working class stiffs pool their money to put one in a high stakes card game, but things go wrong and they end up owing half a million pounds and having one week to come up with the cash.
entertaining
For $8 million, this is a fricking monument of 1990’s film. The first time I saw it I laughed at most of the jokes and followed the plot with pleasure. That’s more than I can say about any number of movies in the 1990’s that cost ten times as much to make and starred pricey talent. The editing is clever and cute. The casting is just short of flawless. Of the four principles, only Bacon seemed consistent to me. The minor parts were sometimes spectacular, esp. Big & Little Chris and Barry the Baptist
There are some legitimate complaints about this movie. The big one is that it doesn’t really go anywhere or mean anything. It seems like an awful lot of flash and talent to end up saying nothing about anything. But um it’s not like Lock, Stock is trying to be anything it isn’t, so maybe it’s not a valid critique after all. Considering how long Tarrantino’s influence has been around, it’s a little unfair to call Ritchie on imitating him. There are some similarities large casts, distinct characters, clever dialogue, rapid shifts in narratives from one string to another and shifting in time, and few other things. I think the problem is that years of dumbing down by Hollywood have almost eliminated all these things. The influence is there certainly, but it would not seem as pronounced if there were any other hugely exposed filmmakers in recent memory that put as much emphasis on dialogue and character besides Tarantino
I haven’t watched MTV since the mid-1980’s, so the style of Lock Stock and Snatch didn’t seem trite to me. Some people I talked to said that the film style was too much like the average car commercial or pop video, which is getting the influence backwards, but I could see how those associations would spoil the experience.

“Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron” Movie Review
“Spirit” Plot Summary
As a wild stallion travels across the frontiers of the Old West, he befriends a young human and finds true love with a mare.
Great.
Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron is an overall wonderful movie. The blending of animation types is unique, the storyline is amazing, and the music is wonderful
The drawn animation is a special thing about many animations. How they expressed the characters, especially the horses, through their animation are spectacular especially. While the way horses communicate through body language is easy to understand, many young children and people who haven’t studied horses might not understand. Without words, I would imagine it would have to be challenging to express them through the features. Because of this, I understand the ‘eyebrow’ they added to the horses (while real horses don’t have those thick lines). One of the few things I noticed about horse habits that might have been portrayed strangely is that Spirit lead his mother’s herd. In wild horse herds, the lead stallion usually chases the young colts out
Also, while some people might think portraying the white army officers as the ‘bad guys’ is stereotyping, think of all the movies in which the Native Americans have been portrayed as that. Sometimes back then; they did treat mustangs very poorly. For example, in real history, the Appaloosa breed was almost wiped out due to the Army officers. Imagine what would have happened to one of the worlds best loved riding breeds if the Native Americans had not saved them
I think it’s amazing how the realism wasn’t subtracted by making the horses talk to each other. Spirit’s feelings were expressed by a little bit of narration, but mostly through the music (by Bryan Adams). The songs express the story really well, and Hans Zimmer and Bryan Adams did a great job telling the story through melodies and lyrics
The emotion I got when watching the movie, whether the first time or the twentieth (yes, I’ve watched it that much), you wouldn’t believe. Some of the scenes take your breath away, while others seem to force tears into your eyes. The opening sequence, showing Spirit’s homeland, puts you right into the spectacular action right away
I don’t understand at all why some people are so hateful of this brilliant movie. Overall, I rate it a 10/10 – a must watch.

“Atonement” Movie Review
“Atonement” Plot Summary
Fledgling writer Briony Tallis, as a 13-year-old, irrevocably changes the course of several lives when she accuses her older sister’s lover of a crime he did not commit. Based on the British romance novel by Ian McEwan.
Amazing!!! Favourite Romantic Movie.
I was completely stunned when I watched Atonement yesterday. From the funny lines to the sad moments, this movie does not fail to amaze me. James McAvoy is by far the shining star in this movie, endowed with unfailing charisma and absolutely adoring accent. The score was impeccable, especially the sound of the typewriter. I loved the scenes from Dunkirk, the hospital, and ,of course, the mansion. It’s truly an amazing movie that I consider to be the best of 2007’s. The ending was rather sad, but it fits perfectly. Keira Knightley was ineffably wonderful with her charming beauty and brilliant performance. One should really go and watch it because it’s a fulfilling experience. I personally give it 10/10.

“A League of Their Own” Movie Review
“A League of Their Own” Plot Summary
Two sisters join the first female professional baseball league and struggle to help it succeed amidst their own growing rivalry.
I Loved It!
I saw this movie long time ago and I still watch this movie. ‘A League of Their Own’ is absolutely hilarious and also has some drama. I think this movie owes a big one to the actors who brought so much fun. Geena Davis plays Dottie Hinson, a loving sister who has some troubles with her younger sister, Kit, and struggles on making decisions of wether she should stay in baseball team (Rockford Peaches) or go back to her home with her husband who just came back from World War II with broken arm(or was it a leg?). It surprised me when I found out that Geena was inches taller than most of the women in the movie. She showed off many fascinating stunts, such as catching a flying baseball with one hand and sliding like a ballerina when catching the foul ball. She was great
Tom Hanks was hilarious as Jimmy Dugan, an alcoholic hitter who became a baseball coach of Rockford Peaches. Jim hates that job, but as the time goes by, he realizes that the girls are very good and he gets pretty enthusiastic about the game and all. I love the part when he gets frustrated and shouts, ‘There’s no crying in baseball!’ and gets on a fight with the judge. Jimmy Dugan is probably one of Tom’s best characters so far
Another great performance by Lori Petty, who played Geena Davis’ sister, Kit. Kit is a very good player, but she gets jealous of Dottie and eventually joins another team called Racines. Somehow, I loved her performance
Then there are other great actings by Madonna and Rosie O’Donnell. They are somewhat nasty girls in the team who happen to be two close best friends. They bring so much joy to this movie and I loved the dancing scene at the bar. Madonna plays her part really well and Rosie is just great as always
Megan Cavannagh was funny also. She played Marla Hooch, who was obviously one of the best players in the team, but unfortunately her looks did matter when she was joining the team. Even though she might not be a best singer (scene at the bar was funny!), she met a great man and got married. Ann Cusack, who played Shirley Baker was pretty forgettable, but she played the sweetest role. Other roles like a player who is a mother of a naughty son (can’t remember her name, though) was also sweet, and the player who lost her husband made me cry. A pretty blonde player who used to be Miss Georgia was good also. Jon Lovitz plays a scout and gives the hilarious lines and I wish he had played more. And don’t miss Tea Leoni as the Racine player! She appears in some scenes, so keep your eyes open. And the older version of the characters looked so much like the younger versions. Especially the Old Dottie Hinson
So if you are depressed and want to watch a funny, witty movie and just have some fun – go and rent this movie. I would give 3 1/2 out of 5 (probably not a breath-taking film, but very entertaining).

“Saw III” Movie Review
“Saw 3″ Plot Summary
Jigsaw kidnaps a doctor to keep him alive while he watches his new apprentice put an unlucky citizen through a brutal test.
Great movie, but a little too dark
..and by dark I mean the way it was filmed not content. I give this film a 8, only because the original SAW was perfect ,thus making this one one notch lower
First of all, for all those of you who so horrible turned in disgust, This movie is not made for PANSYS like you. Go watch A comedy
Second; for all of you think the movie is not credible. So What! You go to the movies for entertainment, in other words to see things you would otherwise never get a chance to see. You want realistic? Watch a Home movie instead. This comment is especially for those who ask ‘where are the authorities’ Boo Hoo.. If you watch SAW 2 ,then you know that ‘JigSAW’ and Amanda can get to anyone at anytime. inlcluding the authorities
With that aside ,this is a great film. Gory to the max? Maybe not so much, but it does attain that effect with bone crushing and flesh tearing sound effects. A good improvement for the series
The story line is very good, because this time around the victims do not soley rely on themselves for salvation, but rather on other people’s actions: For those of you too ignorant to grasp the concept of needless killings, I’ll explain it to you. The reason most of the victims were doomed in this installment is because ‘Jigsaw’ was not fully in control, but rather passed on the torch to Amanda, who is even more twisted than ‘JIGSAW’ She somehow blames the world for her state of mind and seriously believes that no one changes after they are given that second oppotunity. She of course, bases this belief on her own life
The second plot involves a father, Jeff, who is so consumed with hatred over those responsible for his son’s death, that he would rather let them die right before his eyes. Including a witness , The man responsible and the judge in the case
This rules out senseless killing of innocent people. Finally there is Lynn, who because of her failing marriage turns to adultery to satisfy her needs. Sound familiar? Does Dr. Lawrence Gordon ring a bell
So once again ‘JigSaw’ puts this sinners through a series of tests to prove if they appreciate the life they were given. ..And for the comment about these being innocent people. NEWSFLASH, Last time I checked WRATH and LUST were 2 of the 7 deadly sins, so in no way are these people innocent
The tests this time around involve Torture devices that border medieval times, but are still fun to watch. Not at all for the squeamish
Also very important are the Flashbacks that explain missing puzzle pieces to the previous two films . All in all a very complete trilogy and a great way to end this saga. Oops too late. Part 4 is underway
My only questions about the movie are? What really happens to Det
Eric Mathews? Other than a crushed ankle we are only told that Amanda left him for dead
Will we see his actual demise in part 4? and what of the poster scene were teeth are being pulled out? Or did I miss this when I went for popcorn? Somehow It doesn’t fit into the storyline?Final words: A great addition to the Horror genre. Who ever didn’t like it or complained about gore and nudity, should really just not go see these movies. All you really do is waste time with your Pansy reviews.

“2001: A Space Odyssey” Movie Review
“Two Thousand and One: A Space Odyssey” Plot Summary
Mankind finds a mysterious, obviously artificial, artifact buried on the moon and, with the intelligent computer HAL, sets off on a quest.
Magnificent and deliberately mysterious
Spoilers ahead.2001: a Space Odyssey is without a doubt the most challenging and successful film by the late Stanley Kubrick. This is not a film that you watch in order to be entertained or amused. Instead it provides you with a banquet of food for thought, images that linger in the mind’s eye long after the movie itself is over. It is a film that you could meditate on
The film intentionally offers us more questions then it can answer, it is made to puzzle and mystify, but leaves the viewer nevertheless with a sense of awe and reverence (that is allowing that he has engaged himself in the process of viewing it, enjoyment of this film requires some effort on the viewers part) the questions that it does pose are large and ominous, concerning the genesis and destiny of the human race, it’s ultimate place in the cosmic design and the existence or lack of some creative intelligence behind the structure of the universe itself
The first of the films Four Quartets gives us a distinct view of the species past. We see our distant ancestors, half-ape half human, in a state of near starvation. The climate has destroyed most of the plant life and the vegetarian beasts are near starvation. An extra-terestial object, a perfectly smooth and angular black monolith, appears and the animals are simultaneously inspired by it’s presence to tool-making and violence. They are transformed overnight into carnevores, and when two tribes encounter each other near a water source, the tribe that has developed tool making capacity, as well as beligerence, soundly destroys the neighboring tribe. The new chief of the winning tribe, empowered by the first vestiges of technology triumphantly throws the bone that he used as a weapon in the air. We see the bone transformed into a floating satellite, which contains nuclear weapons. We soon learn that the world is torn apart by nuclear paranoia. The characteristics inspired by the monument’s appearance that once helped us to survive now threaten our very existence
Once again humanity is in crisis, once again the unearthly presence represented by the black monolith will step in to aid humanity in the next step in it’s development. On an exploration of the Moon a monolith identical to the earlier one we have seen is discovered. The governments of the world, normally mortal enemies, have come together in secret to discuss the implications. A mission is arranged. the monument has been engaged in some kind of radio communication with Jupiter. A few men will travel to the destination of the transmission. Most of them will, for most of the time, be kept in a state of suspended animation. The pilot of the spacecraft will be HAL a super computer who has been programmed to imitate all of the traits of human beings
The film has many outstanding sequences. As usual for Kubrick the use of classical music is outstanding. Most memorable are ‘Blue Danube’ and ‘Also Spake Zarathustra’ (particularly appropriate given the film’s theme of transcending ordinary consciousness.) The cinematography is particularly excellent as well, after a single viewing the film’s final 30 minutes will haunt you for the rest of your life
The character of HAL is the most important from the view of the film’s central thesis. In imitating all the characteristics of human beings he comes to have their negative traits as well. The paranoia he develops which almost leads to the mission’ s ruin is an exact mirror of the paranoia that has allowed the political situation back on earth to reach a point of desperate crisis. The film suggests that these are the traits that we must leave behind if we are to proceed to the next phase in our evolution
The architecture of the film is also meaningful. The designs of many of the spacecraft are intended to suggest reproductive organs and the process of birth and rebirth, the central motif of the movie. The ending of 2001 is the most spectacular and triumphant ever filmed
This movie takes a view of life similar to that presented in the poetry of William Butler Yeats and James Joyce’s novel Finnegan’s Wake. It posits a pattern to history and human evolution that is cyclic, yet progressive, repeating the same events at large intervals, yet with the human race as developing according to the will of a being with a larger purpose in mind. Though we never learn what this purpose is, the film assures us that the human race is not meant for failure, it’s destiny is grand beyond it’s capacity to imagine. It continues to amaze me that in spite of this film many people continue to regard Kubrick as a misanthrope
This is a religious film, not in the conventional sense of adhering to any specific creed, but because of it’s invocation of wonder at the vast panorama of existence and it’s involvement with the deepest and most vital questions of purpose and truth. In the hands of any other director, this would all be perhaps a little too much. Hollywood’s view of life is too puny, usually to encompass the grandeur and intensity of a vision such as this one. But Kubrick was a visionary, he directs with utter confidence, not only that he can handle material of this kind, but that he is the only one to do it. The process of making this film used all of his creative resources. The writing partnership with Arthur C Clarke is the most fruitful in cinematic history. Kubrick had to invent some of the special effects that were used in the movie’s astounding climax. The resources to bring his vision to life did not exist at the time, so he brought them into existence.2001 is a absolutely unique movie experience. Those who miss out on it do so at the detriment of their own intellectual and imaginative capacities.

“Starship Troopers” Plot Summary
Humans of a fascistic, militaristic future do battle with giant alien bugs in a fight for survival.
Great
Starship Troopers is a truly excellent film based on dark humour and great amounts of action and violence
Its effects were great for its time and great amount of tought were put into making this movie
Its unique story line is what separates this from the rest of your typical sci-fi films
Its use of advanced weaponry and other military style objects is of excellent quality. Although some parts of it were very unrealistic, it just goes to show how far man can go and the achievements it would succeed in technology
Also its comedy side of it would be more inclined to go towards the male counterpart as it can be a dark sense of humour

“The Silence of the Lambs” Plot Summary
A young FBI cadet must confide in an incarcerated and manipulative killer to receive his help on catching another serial killer who skins his victims.
It’s a classic!
There is little doubt that the most memorable aspect of The Silence of the Lambs is Anthony Hopkins’ incomparable performance as Lecter. Taking over for Brian Cox, who was effective, but not especially memorable, as the good doctor in 1986’s Manhunter, Hopkins instantly makes the role his own, capturing and conveying the charismatic essence of pure evil. To his dying day, no matter how many roles he plays in the interim, Hopkins will forever be known for this part. (It is a credit to Hopkins’ ability as an actor that this part did not result in stereotyping. His post-Silence career has been greatly varied, with roles as widely diverse as a stodgy butler in Merchant-Ivory’s The Remains of the Day and an action hero in The Edge.) I can throw out any number of superlatives, but none of them do justice to this chilling performance, which I labeled as the best acting work of the ’90s. Want to feel the icy fingers of terror stroke your heart? Watch this mixture of brilliant eloquence and inhuman cruelty. As portrayed by Hopkins, Hannibal is both a suave, cultured gentleman and an unspeakable fiend. He is gracious and monstrous at the same time. (Hopkins also provided one of the most quotable lines in recent film history with ‘I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti’, which was followed by an inimitable slithering slurp.)
