“Four Christmases” Movie Review

“Four Christmases” Plot Summary

A couple struggles to visit all four of their divorced parents on Christmas Day.

A funny and extremely entertaining movie.

To be honest I was very excited about seeing this movie, because it looked funny, and I’m always up to see Reece Witherspoon in a comedic performance

So I came into the theater with relatively high hopes

However after the first 10 minutes(which were a bit ruff for me) I was losing hope for the film, then when it gets into the actual movie the 2 main protagonists don’t become so one dimensional anymore, but instead quite enjoyable

By the time the movie was over I just had a big smile on my face and the warm feeling inside me, like after you see a good movie

This movie I guess surprised me because I had not expected it to be THIS funny and THIS entertaining

However while it was original at times, and was very enjoyable, as a film it couldn’t help but fall into the whole cliche’e of romantic comedies(yet it still kept me on the edge of my seat), and at times it was cheesy, but hey what can really expect it to be

Overall this movie has got to be one of the better Christmas movies I’ve seen in quite awhile

It has the right amount of charm, humor, and entertainment to keep you intrigued, humored, and enough enjoyment to keep you watching it

So if your going to see any Christmas movie this year, or really any movie, by all means go see ‘Four Christmases’.

    “Sweet Home Alabama” Movie Review

    “Sweet Home Alabama” Plot Summary

A young woman with a white trash background runs away from her husband in Alabama and reinvents herself as a New York socialite.

A Light Comedy That Anyone Can Enjoy

Sweet Home Alabama was a sweet and enjoyable little movie. It’s just meant for entertainment like a lot of other films and that’s exactly what this movie did, entertain. It doesn’t have to have a deep to the heart beautiful story line to be a good movie. Reese Witherspoon did wonderful in her part and so did Patrick Wilson. I loved watching her be so rude and preppy in ‘The Heart Of Dixie,’ and there are a lot of laugh out loud moments in this film, such as, when they went to the bar and she is ‘reunited’ per say with a lot of her old friends, and the part where she first sees Jake(Wilson) for the very first time. Overall, Sweet Home Alabama should just be watched for fun. Don’t be expecting too much of it.

    “Walk the Line” Movie Review

    “Walk the Line” Plot Summary

A chronicle of country music legend Johnny Cash’s life, from his early days on an Arkansas cotton farm to his rise to fame with Sun Records in Memphis, where he recorded alongside Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins. add synopsis

    Johnny would be proud.

    Hello, I’m Johnny Cash

I’ve seen a lot of singer biopics: all the way from the Buddy Holly Story to Coal Miner’s Daughter. This one can’t quite make it to Coal Miner, but it’s light years ahead of Buddy. I read a review today that said that Joaquin was too short and Reese was too pretty to play Johnny and June. The reviewer was right, but what the hell does that have to do with great acting. They got it right and this old hillbilly cried, that’s right–cried–at every historical landmark they hit. Oscars for Joaquin and Reese–that’s all I want.woody pulpsWalk The Line update 03/19/2006.

A retraction is in order. Not only have I come to realize this movie beats all the singer biopics, in my opinion, it beats all biopics and, indeed, has become my favorite movie…period. Read Jack Shaw’s comment below. It’s worth your time.(I did exactly what you asked and resisted a comment on a comment, but I gave in even though I tried).

Oh, and by the way, if Dan John Miller wasn’t channeling Luther on the guitar, there is no such thing

Great lines from the movie:June Carter…June Carter…when will you be mine? (sing it to the tune of Hey, Porter). June: I surmise you haven’t been to bed. An intoxicated Johnny: surmiiiiiise….Luther Perkins: It’s in A….A (nods ‘yes’ to Marshall Grant).

    June: I got tangled!woody pulps

    “Monsters vs Aliens” Movie Review

    “Monsters vs Aliens” Plot Summary

When a meteorite from outer space hits a young woman and turns her into a giant monster, she is taken to a secret government compound where she meets a ragtag group of monsters also rounded up over the years. |

    Enjoyable and fun.

Nothing really great, understand, but they took this ‘high concept’-fifties Hollywood movie Monsters and had them battle an alien invasion. Pretty funny.

It’s fast moving, there’s the usual satire(Close Encounters/Trek/Star Wars/the Blob/etc etc nods galore), funny voicers (Stephen Colbert as the Prezzy, Rogen as the Blob, Hugh Laurie as the Fly(more or less), and of course, the expected manic chase/action finale.

Best parts? They did a bang-up job on the Fifty Foot Gal there(Reese Witherspoon), rounding her character out much better than the usual animated gal is(‘the girl’ or ‘the wife’ or ‘the villainess’ etc) and I commend them for it.

Oh and the attack on San Fran is worth the price of admission, too.

    *** outta ****, you’ll enjoy.

    “American Psycho” Movie Review

    “American Psycho” Plot Summary

A wealthy New York investment banking executive hides his alternate psychopathic ego from his co-workers and friends as he escalates deeper into his illogical, gratuitous fantasies.

One of the greatest visions ever brought to us

Spoilers includedThis is not a slasher movie, indeed. It’s a very deep, strange and delicate moment in satire. While it’s serious, it’s ironic and ridiculous. Great stuff! Funniest and the most (yes I dare say it) brilliant satire I’ve ever seen. Christian Bale’s performance is unbelievable and if someone disagrees, they have to show me how to perform an emotional breakdown for 2 minutes on a phone. Just unbelievable. I’ve seen this 5 times now and it never gets boring. All the characters in Bateman’s world live in materialism, self-obsession, wealth and empty lives which is saved for last as the horrifying truth for Patrick. None cares for anyone. Many may think that when Bateman runs around with a chainsaw in the hallway, somebody would call the cops. But that’s theme of this film: None cares except if it has something do with themselves. Brilliant, simply brilliant. When Bateman sees this, he gives up hope, implying that he is not going to stop his frenzy until someone stops him (which happens in that embarrassing sequel which I’m never going to watch). Mary Harron’s masterpiece, Bale’s best performance (without an Oscar nod of course), at the same time one of the shortest, deepest, confusing, puzzling and mysterious satire films ever. One of the best. It’s a must see. My personal favourite. DON’T miss it if you can take some violence mixed in with irony and very black and bold humor

    Solid 9/10
