    “Finding Neverland” Movie Review

    “Finding Neverland” Plot Summary

The story of J.M. Barrie’s friendship with a family who inspired him to create Peter Pan.

Beautiful, Moving Movie with Very Few Flaws

I had heard that this was merely a ‘chick flick.’ Hey, my wife is the one who wanted to go see it. As it turned out, I went with three other guys, and we all loved it

Some movies entertain; some teach; some open up new worlds. This movie opened up new worlds. With each passing scene, carefully woven from the previous ones, it was like crossing yet another threshold into another world. The story unfolded deeper and deeper with each new scene, each layer adding not to complexity (the story is rather simple), but to the depth. Depp and the others (esp. the young actor who played Peter) easily lead the audience deeper and deeper into the paths of authenticity, healing, love, friendship and the triumph of inner strength. The other characters, likewise, garnish the central story excellently

The only flaw I saw is, I’m sure, a matter of taste and perspective; I felt the grandmother was simply too two-dimensional and not as believable as she should have been, though she, too, had some beautiful moments that truly added to the film

Having much experience with divorce (being a divorce attorney) I found the unfortunate relationship between Depp’s character and his wife believable to a tee: two people deeply in love with each other yet more committed to personal pursuits than tending the difficult relationship we call marriage. Ironically, though Depp’s character ultimately became the main caretaker of the four boys, by following the tender feelings of his heart, he allowed his marriage to evaporate by not following the other tender feelings of his heart

Nearly perfect. I give it a 9 out of 10.

    “Man on Fire” Movie Review

    “Man on Fire” Plot Summary

In Mexico City, a former assassin swears vengeance on those who committed an unspeakable act against the family he was hired to protect.

    Amazing, absolutely AMAZING

This movie blew me away; however not the first time I saw it, I had to watch it twice to truly appreciate the message and the power of this film. Maybe I wasn’t fully paying attention or maybe I was too young at the time but I am so glad that I watched it again

If ever there was perfect casting for a motion picture then this would be it! Denzel Washington is unbelievably believable, (then again when is he not believable) and even though Christopher Walken’s part is small in this you don’t forget him as he helps to develop the story and make Washington’s character even more electrifying. Also the supporting cast is more than solid with Marc Anthony and Radha Mitchell putting in very strong performances, with Mickey Rourke also worth a mention. However, this is all eclipsed by the youngest member of the cast, Dakota Fanning, who is indescribable as Pita. The chemistry between Washington ans Fanning shines off the screen and you laugh when they laugh, and cry when they cry

The direction is expertly done, but with such films as ‘Enemy of the State’ and ‘Crimson Tide’ perfection is what should be expected from a director like Tony Scott. There are scenes around 2-5 mins long with no dialogue and just Denzel Washington on screen that are captivating; a testament to the skills of Scott and Washington, which come together with brilliant results

It might not be everyone’s cup of tea with vivid violence and quite long at 146 mins, but in my opinion it has to have these things to make it the masterpiece that it is. If you like a film that really paints the picture before ripping it up in your face with twists and turns that will leave you with your jaw on the floor then this is the film for you. This film has so much to it that if I said anymore I would probably end up spoiling parts of it for you

This is one of the few films that has brought a tear to my eye and that was because you care so much for the characters. I think this film has been highly underrated but hopefully it will get recognised for its heart and for the excellence that oozes from the screen on every level.

    “Silent Hill” Movie Review

    “Silent Hill” Plot Summary

A woman goes in search for her daughter, within the confines of a strange, desolate town called Silent Hill. Based on the video game. add synopsis

Fans of the game will enjoy this film!

Fans of the game will enjoy this film. Critics should be impressed with the set design, effects and cinematography; but I’m afraid most of them will miss the boat entirely. As far as a game to film translation, this is one of the best ever made

There are scenes in the film that are direct recreations from the game. Sounds, music, colors and even meticulous set design that pays homage to the game series. In as far as a horror film, there were scenes in this movie that are incomparable. Really disturbing, solid moments of horror

Pyramid Head is this decade’s Pinhead. A new cultural icon to be feared, and loved

Good movie. Keep an open mind, and enjoy. This is one of those films that actually deserves its R rating. Don’t take the kids, unless you’re into the whole ‘terrible parent’ thing.

“The Chronicles of Riddick: Pitch Black” Plot Summary

A group of marooned space travelers struggle for survival on a seemingly lifeless sun-scorched world.

    Surprisingly good movie ;)

Pitch Black is a surprisingly good movie. I was not a fan of Vin diesel before I saw Pitch black, but after seeing Pitch Black my respect for Vin Diesel has gone up. He did a great job playing Riddick a man wanted for many murders. His character is cold and makes many decisions that surprised me, like near the end Riddick was going to get on the ship and save his own ass leaving everyone behind to die. I like this movie and how it deals with human instinct. This movie is low budget but this movie goes to show you don’t need amazing special effects and lots of money to make a good movie, I think all the characters made this movie. I give this movie 8 out of 10 ;)

    “Phone Booth” Movie Review

    “Phone Booth” Plot Summary

Stuart Shepard finds himself trapped in a phone booth, pinned down by an extortionist’s sniper rifle.

One of my most favourite films

At first I thought the film was going to be just a normal thriller but it turned out to be a thousand times better than I expected. The film is truly original and was so dark & sinister that gives the tensive mood also it is emotionally & psychologically thrilling, the whole movie is charged with pulse pounding suspense and seems like it’s really happening. It’s amazing that how they managed to make an 80 minute movie with just a guy in a phone booth but the full credit goes to Colin Farrell and Larry Cohen the writer not Joel Schumacher because he is a crappy director. Joel Schumacher’s films are rubbish especially The Number 23, Phone Booth was shot in 10 days with a budget of $10 million so it wasn’t a hard job to make it, that’s why Joel doesn’t get any credit but the cast & crew did a fantastic job. I also really liked the raspberry coloured shirt Colin was wearing and it was an excellent choice of clothing because the viewers are going to watch him throughout the whole film. When I first saw the movie I fell in love with it and I bought it on DVD the next day and I’ve seen it about 20 times and I’m still not fed up with it. Phone Booth is and always will be Colin Farrell’s best film! Overall it is simply one of my favourite films and I even argued over my friend because he didn’t like it.
