    “Pretty Woman” Movie Review

    “Pretty Woman” Plot Summary

A man in a legal but hurtful business needs an escort for some social events, and hires a beautiful prostitute he meets… only to fall in love.

    A winning romantic comedy.

Garry Marshall may not be the most interesting director working in Hollywood, but his movies are definitely entertaining, and in that sense he is successful. Perhaps his two greatest films, which also are the ones he’ll most likely be remembered for, are ‘Beaches’ and ‘Pretty Woman’. One of the most commercially successful (almost $500m worldwide!!) romantic comedies of all time,’Pretty Woman’ is a charming modern day fairy tale that works largely in part to the phenomenal on-screen chemistry between its two stars Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. In an Academy Award nominated performance as Vivian Ward, Julia Roberts truly shines. Her screen presence is nothing short of radiating, not to mention she’s a highly skilled comedic actress. The film also owes a lot to its equally strong supporting performances from Jason Alexander, Laura San Giacomo and Hector Elizondo. All cliches aside, it’s highly enjoyable and stands up superbly even after repeated viewings, a definite 10/10.

    “Godzilla” Movie Review

    “Godzilla” Plot Summary

A montage of French nuclear tests in the Pacific Ocean, observed by many marine iguanas. Then, in present days…

    Very Good

The reference to a possible rebellion of nature is certainly right. The danger of a revenge of animals against man is around the corner! The nature against technology. This is one of the best movies about Godzilla! Good, really Good. It has an origin mostly comic but has good special effects. It was inevitable to see negative comments here, is the norm. Cmq a good movie, the environments are good actors suited to the type of film. He certainly part ironic, comic, the environments are very well linked to those of fantascientific and the result can be considered as satisfactory. It is a shame that here there are elements that bring more than 7 film ridiculous as the army of darkness and films such as van helsing a miserable 5. Shame! I disagree with the standards is happening here, I am not convinced. In some cases there are good reviews, in other see that there are some ‘too many prejudices against certain films! The reference to a possible rebellion of nature is certainly right. The danger of a revenge of animals against man is around the corner!

    “Mamma Mia!” Movie Review

    “Mamma Mia” Plot Summary

The story of a bride-to-be trying to find her real father told using hit songs by the popular ’70s group ABBA.

    Mamma Mia, Meryl!!!

There’s no better way to describe the HORRENDOUS experience that’s to watch Mamma Mia: Hitler must be looking up, saying to the pseudo-director Phyllida Lloyd ‘You monster, what have you done?’Everything about the movie is wrong. Just Wrong! Even its success, which is unexplainable. I can understand when those crappy parody movies, like Epic Movie, make their minimal share of money and turn profit just because they’re cheap (of course they are!). But when something like Mamma Mia makes 450 million dollars worldwide, you think ‘what the hell is wrong with the world?’And to think we have Meryl Streep, one of the greatest alive actresses of the world, in it? What was she thinking? ‘I need the money’, she could say. Well then, sell one of your grandchildren, even that would be less embarrassing. It’s not that Meryl is good in a disastrous piece of, err, ‘movie’. She’s also disastrous! When she sings, even though she’s got the vocals, it’s ridiculous. Worse than her only Pierce Brosnan. He used to be James Bond. Now he’s singing Abba in a purple spandex during the credits of the worst movie ever. Really? And when I mention Abba, not that I have anything against the band and their music. Though it doesn’t help them when actors started singing (badly), dancing (worse) and the extras join then (They pop out of nowhere! Frequently!) to present one terrible musical sequences after the other. You wanna cry when the music starts. And I love musicals! But this is the first in the genre where you PRAY for actual silence

I could keep going. The list goes on forever. You could write a Stephen King novel with the complete list of mistakes in this movie

To sum up: go watch it! Really! You’ve got to witness to understand!! And since it’s already a huge success, who cares if it makes a few more dollars from you? And it’s not liking you’re selling your soul to the devil. Meryl did that before. For the whole mankind. And now the world must end, because we’ve committed the ultimate evil and we must be destroyed.

    “Hitch” Movie Review

    “Hitch” Plot Summary

While helping his latest client woo the fine lady of his dreams, a professional “date doctor” finds game doesn’t quite work on the gossip columnist with whom he’s smitten.

    Welcome to Bland World

Nothing about this movie stands out as either being great or terrible

In the end, that is what kills it. The blandness is just not good. I can’t say I expected better from Will Smith, but I definitely did from Kevin James of ‘The King of Queens’– but, hey, I’m getting used to saying that a lot lately. This film attempts to make its mark as a witty romantic comedy, but it never hits the bull’s-eye. In fact, it never hits *anywhere* within the target. The allergy scene is disturbing; the fact that Kevin James can’t dance is something that wouldn’t exactly catch anybody off-guard, and is therefore (in a movie like this) not funny. This movie constantly tries to win your heart, but always with the wrong ploy at the wrong time. Some parts are okay (but I’m searching my brain for examples), but I really think this movie should be avoided.

    “Kingdom of Heaven” Movie Review

    “Kingdom of Heaven” Plot Summary

Balian of Ibelin travels to Jerusalem during the crusades of the 12th century, and there he finds himself as the defender of the city and its people.

A great film by Ridley Scott!!!

KOH is not Gladiator 2, first of all the movie is not about a slave dealing with Romans, at the heart of the movie is the battle for Jerusalem and two sides the Christians and the Muslims. KOH in my opinion raises up more issues than what Gladiator did and then some

The acting was great, Neeson as Godfrey of Ibelin , though he has a small role , leaves quite an impact. Bloom is wonderful, Eva Green is hot, Jeremy Irons is at his usual best , David Thewlis also puts up a great performance as Hospitaller, and Edward Norton turns in a memorable performance

The story is that in 1184 during the time of the Crusades , Balian a blacksmith becomes a knight to defend Jerusalem from Muslim invaders

Bloom as the protagonist who doesn’t believe in God or religion, ‘I am just a blacksmith’, undergoes a spiritual journey that tests both his values as a man (do I stay here and fight for people of Jerusalem) and his ideals about religion. He also has his morality come into question through almost the entire movie, does his give into temptation and join the dissenters of the church (Guy De Lusignan) or does he kill and lie to get what is offered a seat of the throne

The directing is brilliant, I believe this is shot on location if not, the sets, the special effects and budget really show. Ridley Scott as the veteran has a great eye for setting up locales, key battle scenes and incredible emotional characters

Balian’s character is also 100% vulnerable he takes his series of hard shots and hangs on to claim victory just when you think the numbers are against the guy he finds a way to outsmart his opponents

Back to story. Balian kills a priest who mocks his late wife who committed suicide. ’she is in hell because she committed suicide’ and so Balian out of rage and the contempt this guy has for him kills him. He is now a fugitive. When he learns Godfrey of Ibelin is his father, , Godfrey wants him to fight in the crusades and go to Jerusalem

Balian still in shock doesn’t want to go with his dad. When the authorities come to claim Balian and execute him, there is a big battle which results in some of Godfrey’s nights being killed. Balian seeing the sacrifice the knights have done for him, finally does go with his father

Balian gets christened as a knight, but doesn’t believe in God, is not an atheist per say, he believes in death but he doesn’t believe in the greater good

This is a key issue being brought up throughout the movie, what is religion? Is it just words or actions that we live by. Does God really offer us hope and salvation, and the answer is yes

When his dad dies and through the speeches with Hospitaller (David Thewlis) who talks about him about religion that Balian he starts to have a spiritual awakening of sorts. Exposed to the poor people of Jerusalem , Balian uses his new power as a lord and a knight to build up shelters and provide water for the people as he says which I am paraphrasing he is trying to be a good man and trying to aid the helpless

Hospitaller: ‘Religion is not made up by fanatics.. it’s about your rite of actions’ He makes the analogy that religion really is about who you are as a person and by what you do , not by what you preach as a so called Christian

Eva Green is Sybilla the future queen of Jerusalem whose brother King Baldiwn (Norton) is sick and near death. Sybilla likes Balian of Ibelin (Bloom) because she feels he is brave and good. She hates her husband Guy who is one of the knights for King of Jerusalem. She mentions she was forced to marry him in a prearranged deal so there’s an internal conflict with Guy and Balian. Guy and Balian previously meet early on when Godfrey introduces him to Lord Tiberius (Jeremy Irons) and Hospitaller. Sybilla also undergoes a transformation in the film as well, when the King dies, she sees in Balian leadership that is absent in her husband

Balian visits places in Jerusalem like the place of Christ’s crucifixion and gathers within himself spiritual strength and a sense of direction to the turbulence around him

The Muslim characters in the movie consists of Saladin (Ghassan Massoud)and , Muslim Grandee (Nasser Memazia who want Jerusalem for other uses such as for the nation of Islam. I should say the Muslim characters in this film get a large bulk of screen time. Furthermore, their characters are treated with respect and almost admiration. In fact Scott tells us their back story as well and we see display of Muslim religion in the movie such as Muslim praying in mosques and in the city of Jerusalem

This reminds me of the Palestian/Israeli conflict of sorts where you have both sides that believe in God but are battling for the control of one city, despite the fact that they both profess to believing in God. Some questions to ponder are these other people with religious ideals worse than we say they are, or are they merely some religious fanatics misusing the name of God for power? Couple that the moral questions that almost every character goes through and the questioning and denouncement and spiritual awakening of God and my you got yourself a thought provoking film

KOH is a great film. Not only is it full of action and great characters and wonderful acting but it also has a good story and challenges you as an audience to think about the messages in the movie long after you’ve left the theater!!!

Two cops team up to get back a kidnapped daughter.

    Worth every penny!

First, I am not a martial arts film fan. I am however someone who enjoys being entertained and this film does just that. Wrapped around a thin plot it is a buddy/buddy film that works. Just as Mel and Danny made the Lethal Weapon films work, Jackie and Chris fit together just as well. The clips they show you in the trailers are not the only good scenes in this movie, the films full of them. All in all, well worth the time and money.

    “Basic Instinct” Plot Summary

A police detective is in charge of the investigation of a brutal murder, in which a beautiful and seductive woman could be involved.

    Excellent, nail-biting, edge-of-your-seat mystery/crime/thriller

In my opinion, BASIC INSTINCT is an excellent, nail-biting, edge-of-your-seat mystery/crime/thriller. Catherine (Sharon Stone) and Dr. Garner (Jeanne Tripplehorn) were both very beautiful women. The two characters I really couldn’t stand were Roxy (Leilani Sarelle) and Dr. Garner. This was because they were so snobby! Nick (Michael Douglas) was a very attractive, good-looking, strict, and business-like guy in my opinion. I loved his style. The most gruesome and scary part in my opinion was when Johnny Boz (Bill Cable) got murdered. That was almost too gruesome and scary for me to bear, but I managed to sit through it. My favorite part, though, was when Nick yells at Dr. Garner. That was very entertaining. In conclusion, I highly recommend this excellent, nail-biting, edge-of-your-seat mystery/crime/thriller to all you Michael Douglas or Sharon Stone fans who have not seen it.

Ichabod Crane is sent to Sleepy Hollow to investigate the decapitations of 3 people with the culprit being the legendary apparition, the Headless Horseman.

    Best scary movie ever!

This film is excellent. it is truly awesome. It has a star studded cast including Johnny Depp!. Not for the faint hearted though as this film mixes Gothic, gory and plain heads rolling around with romance, hilarity in a way and filled with the hottest of hot Johnny Depp who plays Ichabod Crane an intelligent yet perhaps slightly wimpy detective. He faints 7 times for crap’s sake! I do feel the movie lacks faults as it is always good to laugh at stupid mistakes people make! This film is really worth seeing and will make you scared of axes forever. it send that cold yet exciting chill down your spine and will make you want to see it again and again. “Enchanted” Movie Review

    “Enchanted” Plot Summary

A classic Disney fairytale collides with modern-day New York City in a story about a fairytale princess who is sent to our world by an evil queen. Soon after her arrival, Princess Giselle begins to change her views on life and love after meeting a handsome lawyer. Can a storybook view of romance survive in the real world?

    Very very good!

I just got home from an advanced screening at my local theater, and all I can say is WOW! I must admit, when I first came into the movie theater, I was quite skeptical as to how good it would be, considering it’s a modern Disney movie and all, but boy was I wrong. This was one of the best family oriented films I have seen in years. The entire theater applauded with vigor at the end of the movie. Truly an essential family movie-going experience

I was following this movie for a while admiring the very interesting concept and wondering if Disney could pull it off. They did that and much more. This movie was a refreshing taste of comedy and the ‘happily ever after’ love story. It did not follow the usual outcome however, I won’t reveal what happened because you need to find out for yourself. I personally very much enjoyed this twist to the typical plot for this genre. The comedy seemed like it could appeal to all ages. They packed in many jokes perfectly into the plot. Not once did the comedy seem cheesy or even queer, almost every joke was funny. Very many parts of the old fairy tales were used in some parts of the plot, such as Snow White, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty. However they were used in such a stylistic manner that it all seemed to seamlessly blend together with the rest of the story. The villains were very hate-able, and the good guys were very lovable. Overall the plot was very solid and very well written. It carried all the magic and the entertainment factor of all the classics before it. 8.3/10One thing that struck me upside the head, was the acting. The acting I felt was top notch for Amy Adams, the actress who plays Giselle. Her performance as a lost and confused princess from another world was very realistic and seemed to posses a pleasant flavor to it. I think I could see a potential Oscar nomination for her. Only time will tell though. The acting for the rest of the cast was very good. I don’t have any nitpicks worth noting. 9/10The sound mix was surprisingly good considering the film’s Genre. Once again, another engrossing quality of the film. Skywalker Sound really does a good job with every film the do the sound mixing for. There were many ambient effects from all around the theater perfectly placed, which added a sense of depth to what was on screen. 8.5/10My one big nitpick was the Music. I had no problem with the orchestral arrangements supplementing the vocals, (they were quite good in fact) but what killed me was the seemingly weak voice for Giselle. There was one musical number that took place in Central Park towards the middle of the film where I felt her character had to do a lot of strong singing, but it came across to me that the Music behind her vocal was stronger and more filled with emotion than the vocal that was supplied. However everywhere else I have no real problems. It was just that number that prevented me from swaying a little in my seat. 6.8/10The Visual effects were very well done. (POSSIBLE SPOILER) There was one sequence that involved a massive dragon roosting at the tip of what I think was the Chrysler Building. The dragon seemed very believable, and the digital rain and lightning in the scene reflected very well off of the dragon’s scales. I have no nitpicks here. 8/10Overall this film was a magical ride fit for all ages. It houses comedy, fantasy, magic, and lots and lots of entertainment all in one reel. Definitely a movie to bring your family to this thanksgiving. Remember to buy lots of popcorn and candy! Nothing like making a movie which is already a great treat even better.8/10

    “Almost Famous” Plot Summary

A high-school boy is given the chance to write a story for Rolling Stone Magazine about an up-and-coming rock band as he accompanies it on their concert tour.

Probably the best drama I have ever seen

As musical dramas go, this is definitely one of the better; not to say the best. It has a lot of acting talent going for it too; Jason Lee, Anna Paquin, Kate Hudson, Noah Taylor etc. Pretty much every major character is played by a talented actor/actress. The story revolves around a kid, named William Miller, who always seem somewhat outcast. He gets a lucky shot when he is offered to interview his favorite band and follow them on their tour. He starts out trying hard to interview them, but quickly finds out it’s hard enough just trying to keep up with the band. He meets a girl, a groupie who doesn’t admit to being a groupie, and falls in love with her. This is a great movie about the environment of the music of the mid-sixties. A very insightful look into the world of groupies, drugs and rock’n roll. This movie is worth watching for most fans of sixties rock’n roll, people looking to find out more about the environment, or just fans of Cameron Crowe. I gave it a 10/10, and most people will probably find it equally good.
