“Atonement” Plot Summary
Fledgling writer Briony Tallis, as a 13-year-old, irrevocably changes the course of several lives when she accuses her older sister’s lover of a crime he did not commit. Based on the British romance novel by Ian McEwan.
Amazing!!! Favourite Romantic Movie.
I was completely stunned when I watched Atonement yesterday. From the funny lines to the sad moments, this movie does not fail to amaze me. James McAvoy is by far the shining star in this movie, endowed with unfailing charisma and absolutely adoring accent. The score was impeccable, especially the sound of the typewriter. I loved the scenes from Dunkirk, the hospital, and ,of course, the mansion. It’s truly an amazing movie that I consider to be the best of 2007’s. The ending was rather sad, but it fits perfectly. Keira Knightley was ineffably wonderful with her charming beauty and brilliant performance. One should really go and watch it because it’s a fulfilling experience. I personally give it 10/10.

“The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury” Plot Summary
This story opens with the new action hero and the two other survivors of Pitch Black already caught by a giant spaceship filled with dread… add synopsis
Great mini-movie, much better than the sequel
To anyone who has seen the excellent ‘The Matrix’ and its horrible sequels, this animated movie ‘Dark Fury’ is exactly the same as the ‘Last Flight Of The Osiris’ (short animation) for ‘The Matrix’.So, we have a great movie (‘Pitch Black’), and a very weak sequel (The Chronicles Of Riddick). But this little animated gem brings back our anti-hero in familiar territory: a great story (even though it’s short) and some great sci-fi ideas (the frozen ‘collection’ and the cyborg monster, for example).
If you liked Pitch Black it’s guaranteed you will like this one. It can also stand on its own (no need to see anything else, although you would get curious), which is always a good indication of brilliance.

“Babel” Movie Review
“Babel” Plot Summary
Tragedy strikes a married couple on vacation in the Moroccan desert, touching off an interlocking story involving four different families.
A coherent, impressive, well-made, insightful piece of work
‘Babel’ centers on several groups of people in 4 countries that are all connected by one freak accident Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu takes us from North Africa to North America to Asia His film exposes four unconnected story lines that are eventually divulged to be inextricably linked to one another The first involves an isolated family of goat herders who live in the High Plateaus of the Moroccan desert where two young boys are testing a rifle’s range handed by their father to protect their goats from jackals… The second concerns a Middle-class American couple on a bus tour of Morocco trying to save together their damaged marriage Meanwhile, in the US, there is grave danger for an undocumented immigranta Mexican nanny as she tries to return to United States after she wrongfully decides to take her two blonde-haired young charges to her son’s wedding across the Mexican border, despite her employers’ sudden change of plans, that needs that she remains with them and miss the joyful occasion And on the opposite side of the world, we follow, in Tokyo, an alienated, confused deaf and mute teenage student, recovering from her mother’s suicide, who eases her feelings of depression and loneliness by trying to win the friendship or attention of every man or adolescent who crosses her path She flirts with sexual exhibitionism to attract the attention of her distant and uncommunicative father ‘Babel’ tries to make a point and the point is that when people can’t or won’t communicate, unpredictable paths can lead to tragic consequences It also tries to leave a message of how a ’shooting’ from a simple ‘gift’ can set off a chain reaction of tragic events in three continents and four countries over which the different characters have exceedingly uncomfortable human emotion Out of the entire cast, it is only Rinko Kikuchi as Chieko who steals the movie especially when she transmits to her friends her mad decision of sexual aggressiveness, saying to all: ‘Now they’re going to meet the real hairy monster.’ This scene remembered me, in some way, Sharon Stone uncrossing legs in ‘Basic Instinct.’

“Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story” Movie Review
“Dodgeball” Plot Summary
A group of misfits enter a Las Vegas dodgeball tournament in order to save their cherished local gym from the onslaught of a corporate health fitness chain.
Great Fun!
Picked this up on DVD for ?3 ($6) – didn’t know anything about it We thought it one of the funniest films we’ve seen for some time. Thought I’d check out the rating and was surprised how low (6.6) it was. Then checked out some of the ‘Hated It’ comments to see why this could be I guess that a lot of people find this film offensive, with stereotypical attitudes – like how a bisexual woman could kiss both a man and a woman (an extraordinary observation). Or that it was unfair to poke fun at someone who spent all his waking hours dressed up as pirate. I think that comment came from a member of the Long John Silver Alliance
Lighten up! Comedy – like any other artistic endeavour is subjective – all I can say is that I laughed and found that at many points the jokes were coming faster than I could process them – always a good sign
A good combination of slapstick humour and smart-ass comments delivered at a rapid pace And an ever-popular theme: will the underdogs triumph? Watch it and find out
