    “Osmosis Jones” Plot Summary

A policeman white blood cell, with the help of a cold pill, must stop a deadly virus from destroying the human they live in, Frank. add synopsis

    Bloody Good Movie

I think that this movie was horribly underrated in the UK, and it doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. I saw the animated series before the movie, and got interested in watching it, but as I have a phobia of vomit, I was incredibly shocked when I saw Bill Murray throw up all over Molly Shannon with visual and graphic sounds. Still, I plucked up the courage to watch the rest of the movie, which I really enjoyed. However, to this day I have to skip the vomit scene on my DVD. I liked the fact that it was a classic ‘cop type’ story, with a baddie, a love interest, a rookie cop and a partnership too. I thought that David Hyde Pierce played the part of Drix brilliantly and Chris Rock was superb as Osmosis. I also like the fact that the movie teaches kids that it’s important to take care of yourself

My friend and I still quote ‘You gotta get spiffy!’ all the time. I also really loved the soundtrack, I went frantic searching for the CD!

    “Kingpin” Plot Summary

A star bowler whose career was prematurely “cut off” hopes to ride a new prodigy to success and riches. add synopsis

    Funny and quite good…

A bowling star has everything going for him. He wins every tournament…and he is quite popular…that is…until some jealous gang-bangers put him in an ‘accident’ in which he ends up without a hand, which means that he will have to live for the rest of his days with a hook as a substitute. Many years later, he is a mean old grouch, but then he meets a bowling star from the Amish country who reminds him of his glory days…before his horrific ‘accident.’ He vows to teach him how to bowl like a pro…and in this way, he can somehow feel as if he is accomplishing something…as if he hasn’t lost his ability to play after all

Overall, a pretty good film, Kingpin will leave you laughing, but since a lot of it is old style humor, many think it is a waste of their time

With Woody Harrelson, Bill Murray, and Randy Quaid

    “The Stepford Wives” Movie Review

    “The Stepford Wives” Plot Summary

What does it take to become a Stepford wife, a woman perfect beyond belief? Ask the Stepford husbands, who’ve created this high-tech terrifying little town, in a very modern comedy-thriller.

    Colorful and comical remake.

Frank Oz’s remake of the classic 1975 thriller may be critically bashed by some, but is actually a very entertaining re-envisioning

Fired business woman moves to a small Conneticut village with her family, where she learns that the local housewives are acting very strangely

The Stepford Wives 2004 is one of the most cleverly done remakes around. Rather than try to capture the expectations of the original film, this remake looks at the already-familiar story in a whole new light as a dark comedy. Even more effective is the fact that this is a truly funny and well-written dark comedy! The direction is lavishly good, the film has some wonderful sets, a great music score, and a very stylish credit sequence

The great cast is yet another highlight. Lovely Nicole Kidman does an excellent performance as usual. While supporting cast Broderick, Midler, Close, Walken, and Bart make for some nicely colorful characters

Just why so many people dislike this film I don’t know, but it’s a remake that is worth being viewed before being judged. Some have come to like this version better than the original film.*** 1/2 out of ****

    “Alexander” Movie Review

    “Alexander” Plot Summary

Alexander, the King of Macedonia and one of the greatest military leaders in the history of warfare, conquers much of the known world.

    A GOOD movie

Though many have had very negative things to say about it, I felt that it was a good movie. Watching that Colin, I forgot that he was Colin and started to see Alexander. Just for that I felt that this movie is of some worth. I have to admit some of the lines sent chills down my spin, but the movie on the whole was good. Historically this movie could not have been far off. Pertaining to Alexander’s death, I liked how the cause was left ambiguis. Those that say that Stone butchered History in making this movie I find to be wrong. Though Alexander might not have been blond, why not by the way, much of what was portrayed went against common belief but true to what we have learned of the great conqueror. I guess summed up, this was a GOOD movie, I enjoyed myself, and was able to immerse myself in Stone’s interpretation of the life of a GREAT man.

Brilliant Sci-Fi/Thriller, that really leaves you thinking, with an outstanding story and an incredible performance from Tom Cruise!

This is a brilliant Sci-Fi/Thriller, that really leaves you thinking, with an outstanding story and an incredible performance from Tom Cruise!. All the characters are wonderful and very likable, and it keeps you guessing throughout, plus Tom Cruise is simply incredible in this!. This is a movie that requires a lot of concentration, because it’s one of those films you have to pay strict attention too, and the plot is seriously awesome, plus one of my favorite moments in the film is when Cruise chases his own eyeballs!. This is up there with one of Spielberg’s best films and believe me he has done a lot of brilliant movies, and This is one of Cruise’s finest performances, plus it’s full of awesome twists and turns so don’t blink!. It’s extremely well made and written, and for once I agree with Roger Ebert’s review!, plus you will really root for Cruise’s character throughout. I loved those little mechanical spiders, and I thought that ending was just wicked! plus while i’m not a huge fan of Colin Farrell he did a fantastic job here and really impressed me!.Max Von Sydow was also excellent, and the special effects are simply stunning, plus the chase sequences are awesome as well!. I saw this a couple years ago and was unimpressed, however after upon 2nd viewing, I must say It deserves it’s praise, so if you didn’t care for it the 1st time, give it a second viewing, you may change your opinion

This should honestly be in the top 250 in my opinion, and there are some fantastic creepy moment as well, plus I loved the depressing atmosphere it had at times, and This is almost like The Fugitive except it’s set in the future, plus It also has some very funny scenes in it as well. Cruise had excellent chemistry with Samantha Morton, and I especially loved the dialog, plus some scenes really had me on the edge of my seat!. This is a brilliant Sci-Fi/thriller that really leaves you thinking, with an outstanding story and an incredible performance from Tom Cruise, and if you haven’t seen it, Do so immediately, you shouldn’t regret it

The Direction is spectacular!. Steven Spielberg does a spectacular job here with amazing camera work, fantastic angles, awesome use of blue, excellent lighting, great slow mo shots, and plenty of other uncanny shots as well, plus he kept the film at an extremely engrossing pace

The Acting is incredible!. Tom Cruise is amazing as always and is incredible here, he gives one of his finest performances, is extremely likable , blew me away in his emotional scenes, had great chemistry with Samantha Morton,as always had lots of charisma, and has really matured as an actor, and if you don’t think he can act watch this movie! (Cruise Rules!!!!!!!). Max Von Sydow is excellent here in his role, he brought tons of class, was especially good at the end, and had some awesome scenes with Cruise!, I loved him. Colin Farrell is fantastic here, I am not a big fan, but he certainly was good here, he held his own against Cruise, and really gave a good show I liked him a lot. Samantha Morton is awesome as the creepy psychic chick, she gave a great show, and had very good chemistry with Cruise. Lois Smith is good in her scene as The Doc I liked her. Neal McDonough is good as Fletch I just wished they gave him more to do. Kathryn Morris is good as Cruise’s wife I really liked her. Rest of the cast do fine

Overall Go see it immediately!. ***** out of 5

    “Legend” Movie Review

    “Legend” Plot Summary

A young man must stop the Lord of Darkness from both destroying daylight and marrying the woman he loves.

Mediocre Film That Looks Great . . .

‘Legend’, The Director’s Cut (1985/2002), Unrated, One Hour & 54 Minutes –and– U.S. Theatrical Version (1986), Rated ‘PG’ by the MPAA, One Hour & 30 Minutes. Content includes: Mild Adult Language, Some Mild Sexual Innuendos, Violence and Some Disturbing Imagery

My Take ** (Out of ****) or 6/10 on the IMDb Scale.’Legend’ is triumph of art direction, make-up, costume and set design. It’s a great movie to look at, but not much else. That goes for both versions of the picture, The Director’s Cut or the U.S. Theatrical Version.’Legend’ wants to be a mythical fairy tale. It tells of Darkness (Tim Curry), a demonic overlord, who has been banished from the world to his dark kingdom to reign in exile. The world is a beautiful place of perpetual springtime, complete with sunshine, tweeting birds, pollen in the air and tree blossoms in abundance. The world is kept pure and protected by two unicorns who both harbor goodness, truth and light

However, Darkness is plotting his return to the world for a hostile takeover. If his lackeys can take out the two unicorns, then Darkness will once again rise to dominate the world. This is not very appealing to Jack (Tom Cruise), a young man who lives in a storybook forest. Jack shares a romance of innocence with the lovely maiden Lily (Mia Sara). When Darkness makes his move for world domination, the world is plunged into a chaotic dark winter. Darkness kidnaps Lily to corrupt her and make her his dark bride. It’s up to Jack and his motley crew of fairy friends to put the kabash on Darkness before all hope is lost . . .Sounds like the groundwork for a fun picture, doesn’t it? Unfortunately, that’s not the case. For as visually arousing as the film is, it’s highly underdeveloped. ‘Legend’ is all style, with no substance. That’s too bad. Everything looks great and the adventure could have been a really great one too

One problem with ‘Legend’ is you don’t care about anyone or anything in it. There’s nothing interesting, funny, witty or imaginative about any of the characters, except for maybe Darkness. We’ve all seen this kind of story before: Evil is out to vanquish good, the young lad becomes a hero to save the girl and set the wrong things right. It’s a timeless story. No doubt, we’ll keep seeing it time and time again. When it’s done right, we love it. A good example would be the original ‘Star Wars’ (1977). But ‘Legend’ doesn’t do it right. We’re not gripped in the slightest

Tom Cruise as Jack spends a great deal of the picture looking scared or bewildered. Sara Mia, better known as Matthew Broderick’s girlfriend in ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’ (1986), is an adequate damsel in distress. Naive, but nice. The scene stealer is Tim Curry as Darkness. He looks great! He is layered in make-up and paint, but he truly looks like the devil, complete with gigantic horns, goat ears, red skin, yellow eyes, a Charles Atlas figure and goat legs. Oddly enough, Curry’s performance shines though the latex making Darkness convincing as a sinister presence

As indicated, the rest of the characters are fairly one dimensional cliches from other (& better) fantasy tales. They’re only here as plot devices, completely devoid of any other purpose, to get you through the movie from Point ‘A’ to Point ‘B’. You don’t care for them or empathize with them in any way or about their plight. To make a movie like this work, you should at least care about the outcome of it’s characters. If you don’t, then what’s the point of watching it in the first place? The Director’s Cut is more whimsical. It’s about 24 minutes longer and has extended dialog with longer scenes. Most notably, this version firmly establishes the lovely Lily as a princess, while the American version is decidedly ambiguous about her background. Also notable is Lily’s singing in the forest and to the unicorns. This is more storybook like and I suppose this behavior is to be expected of maidens

The Director’s Cut boasts a lyrical score by Jerry Goldsmith. It’s beautifully done and serves the storybook aspect of ‘Legend’ very well

The U.S. version is scored by the rock group Tangerine Dream. What I liked about this score is that it’s a departure from what is traditionally heard in this kind of picture. I thought this score was a fresh approach to the ‘fairy-tale’/’storybook’ genre

Director Ridley Scott has described his director’s version of ‘Legend’ as being the more sophisticated of the two versions. In some ways he’s right. Then again, both versions of the picture are rather muddled and lack coherence or any real direction. Both pictures feel choppy, unrealized and cobbled together from other fantasies minus the spark that makes the good ones work in the first place

Does ‘Legend’ have a saving grace? It’s a visual roller-coaster. It’s great to look at. It reminds me of fantasy paintings that have come to life. Too bad that the life we see in the movie is lifeless. If you can get around that fact, then either version of ‘Legend’ at it’s best will be excellent eye candy with terrific cinema-photography and great music, whether it’s Goldsmith or Tangerine Dream as the music provider. In my opinion, The Director’s Cut and the U.S. Theatrical Version are on they same par in terms of quality. One is not better then the other. ‘Legend’ isn’t that good to begin with. To be fair, it’s not bad either. If it wasn’t for the film’s visual style, there would really be no reason to even consider watching this picture. ‘Legend’ is a missed opportunity that left me wanting more from it then what I was given . . .
