“The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury” Movie Review

“The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury” Plot Summary

This story opens with the new action hero and the two other survivors of Pitch Black already caught by a giant spaceship filled with dread… add synopsis

Great mini-movie, much better than the sequel

To anyone who has seen the excellent ‘The Matrix’ and its horrible sequels, this animated movie ‘Dark Fury’ is exactly the same as the ‘Last Flight Of The Osiris’ (short animation) for ‘The Matrix’.So, we have a great movie (‘Pitch Black’), and a very weak sequel (The Chronicles Of Riddick). But this little animated gem brings back our anti-hero in familiar territory: a great story (even though it’s short) and some great sci-fi ideas (the frozen ‘collection’ and the cyborg monster, for example).

If you liked Pitch Black it’s guaranteed you will like this one. It can also stand on its own (no need to see anything else, although you would get curious), which is always a good indication of brilliance.

    “Con Air” Movie Review

    “Con Air” Plot Summary

A newly released ex-con and former US Ranger finds himself trapped in a prisoner transport plane when the passengers seize control.

    Amazing action flick

This film goes beyond the usual boundaries of an action film. The ensemble cast is brilliant. Nicholas Cage and John Cusack play the ex army ranger turned paroled prisoner and FIB agent respectively who have to find a way of working together when psycho Cyrus ‘The Virus’ Grissom takes over a plane of prisoners who are being transferred to a maximum security unit. Cyrus is played brilliantly by the menacing John Malkovich, and he makes the character appear truly evil, down to his cold eyes. This is the sort of role he excels at

There is also an appearance by Steve Buscemi as the Marietta Mangler, a serial killer who first appears in the film strapped to a chair with a mask, a la Hannibal Lecter

Nicholas Cage is also good as a very honourable guy who just wants to get home to his wife and child, but not at the expense of his fellow prisoners

This film is worth watching many times – its entertaining, sometimes funny and altogether brilliant!

    “Lethal Weapon 3″ Movie Review

    “Lethal Weapon 3″ Plot Summary

Martin Riggs finally meets his match in the form of Lorna Cole, a beautiful but tough policewoman. Together with Roger Murtaugh…

    Great fun…

The signs of aging could shine through in ‘Lethal Weapon 3,’ but they don’t. Because – magically – the series doesn’t seem to be aging too much. Why? Because the series is always changing. It is smart, in that it realizes it cannot continue with the cop-buddy action-comedy formula per se, so it almost becomes more of a strict comedy with some big stunt pieces and looney fights. Sure, there’s plenty of action, but it’s not as fierce of bruising or just downright vicious as in the first two films. When there are fight scenes they seem a bit more corny than before. This is a more lighthearted entry into the series, and though you could say without seeing the film that soft is not what ‘Lethal Weapon’ is about, just remember how tiring it would have been seeing a repeat of the second and first film

Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson) and Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover) are back. The film opens with an explosive prelude that has become the symbol of the ‘Lethal Weapon’ movies (later films such as ‘Bad Boys’ – another cop-buddy film – tried to use the same technique but, in my opinion, sort of failed).

After the opening sequence, in which they try to diffuse a bomb in a parking garage but end up tripping the detonator instead, the two men are demoted from Sergeants to regular cops – they walk the streets in boredom giving out tickets to J-walkers and trying to find a way to have some fun

Murtaugh is bent on retiring – again – in a week. Riggs, now his best-buddy, tries to ignore the fact as best he can by cracking jokes about girdles. (Don’t ask.) While walking the streets they come upon an armored van robbery (what are the chances?) and stop the crooks through a windy car chase along a highway, with a reference to ‘The Road Warrior’ along the way. (And if you don’t understand that joke, you don’t belong on this site.)Plot revelation upon plot revelation finally builds up into the fact that new weapons are filling the streets – ‘cop killers’ – that can go right through a bulletproof vest and out the other side. Brought in to investigate into these matters is Lorna Cole (Rene Russo), a woman after Riggs’ own heart. She kicks butt, pays no attention to rules, and is a smart…bottom

Also returning is Joe Pesci to the role of Leo Getz. His head full of bleached hair and sporting a nice car, the retired thief is now in real estate, trying to sell Murtaugh’s home to interested folk. One of the best scenes is when Getz is taking a couple through Murtaugh’s home and mentions all the different accidents they’ve had over the year, including the car smashing through the wall and ‘accidental bomb damage’ upstairs. He later says it’s illegal to withhold information. And this is coming from the guy who, in ‘Lethal 2,’ admitted to laundering drug money.’Lethal Weapon 3′ is full of fun, good intentions, and more fun. For fans of the first two films this is a great relief – it’s not nearly as bad as you’re expecting it to be. However, there are more than a handful of flaws here. The plot is not nearly as realistic nor intriguing as the first two, the action is a bit too dumbed down at times, and overall the film seems more like a big-budget extravaganza as compared to the smartness of the first two. Still, you really can’t go wrong with ‘Lethal Weapon 3,’ because if you enjoyed the first two, you’re going to eat this up.4/5 stars.- John Ulmer

    “Eraser” Movie Review

    “Eraser” Plot Summary

A Witness Protection specialist becomes suspicious of his co-workers when dealing with a case involving high-tech weapons.

    Very Entertaining Action Film!

I beg to differ with those who berate this film. It’s one of Arnold’s best and so what if the acting isn’t Oscar quality, the film delivers non-stop action, like a boulder rolling down a mountain it never lets up. So what if there are believability problems in the script. If we didn’t use a little imagination there’d be no James Bond, no Star Wars, no Batman, no ET, no Lord of the Rings, no Transformers, etc. If you want believability watch Grapes of Wrath. So what if it’s not possible to dive out of Jet plane to chase down a parachute. So what if the villain doesn’t kill the hero the easy way. So what if Arnold demands a cheesy line in every one of his movies; ‘You’re luggage!’ to an alligator he just killed, is a small price to pay for a high energy, roller coaster ride of a movie. This movie is great in high definition with surround sound. Geez, why are people so damned critical! Don’t look for flaws, didn’t you come to the theater to have a fun time?

“The Chronicles of Riddick” Movie Review

“The Chronicles of Riddick” Plot Summary

5 years after Pitch Black, the wanted criminal Riddick arrives on a planet called Helion Prime, and finds himself up against an invading empire called the Necromongers, an army that plans to convert or kill all humans in the universe.

Great action, great story, great effects

Great film. I really liked it, being a great fan of Pitch Black (2000). The universe of Riddick is really impressive and way different from the (boring and predictable) other sci-fi titles nowadays (except, maybe Firefly).

Vin Diesel’s character is very well explored in this movie and I guess this is the only Vin Diesel performance that I enjoyed at all. The Necromongers are a very curious and interesting ‘race’ (they have an evil charm, something like the Borgs) and I would like to see more of them and more about Riddick’s past

And I really liked the twist at the ending. I can’t wait to see the third movie of the franchise (if it ever gets released, I hope so).

“Tears of the Sun” Movie Review

“Tears of the Sun” Plot Summary

Bruce Willis plays a Special-Ops commander who leads his team into the jungle of Nigeria to rescue a doctor played by Monica Belluci who will only go with them if they agree to rescue 70 refugees too.

    One of the best

This is by far one of the best movies I have ever seen in my life. This movie draws you in; you get scarred for the characters and hope for the defeat of the villains. This is one of those rare moments where you forget that your watching a movie.

I really think that this was the best movie of 2005. Bruce Willis does a great job but the breakout artist is Monica Belluci. The fact that she is possibly the most beautiful woman alive doesn’t hurt in attracting you to this film.

The first part of the movie is the character of Bruce Willis’ dilemma of committing to duty or doing the right thing. We get to see him and Monica Belluci’s struggle to trust and understand what it is they should do. The second part of the movie is a good 30 minute fighting scene that keeps you wondering which of the good guys will day. This is the best movie.

“The Legend of Zorro” Movie Review

    “Zorro” Plot Summary

Despite trying to keep his swashbuckling to a minimum, a threat to California’s pending statehood causes the adventure-loving Alejandro de la Vega (Banderas) — and his wife, Elena (Zeta-Jones) — to take action. add synopsis

    Worth the 7-year wait

Someone needs to defend ‘the legend of Zorro’. I am reading all kinds of reviews which criticize this movie for very minor details, when, in fact, this movie is really just trying to have fun

First – ‘Legend of Zorro’ is nothing at all like the ‘Spy Kids’ junk, which critics claim to see remarkable similarities. Yes, we know Antonio Banderas was in both films, and in both films his kids come to save the day…but the similarities stop there. The young actor they found to play Joaquin isn’t there to be scenery, but is involved in the story like any other character, and even better – he’s not painful to watch act (and he’s got some great dialogue, too).

Second – I enjoyed the fact that the storyline did not become a predictable, routine sequel. If we waited seven years to just watch Zorro fight another bad guy while mom & son stayed home…I would be angry. But the story used Elena and Joaquin in very creative ways. The only way its predictable is that Zorro saves the day – but just as to how he gets there, I never saw it coming

Third – I will admit, this is nowhere near the same level-of-quality that we saw in ‘Mask of Zorro’. They set the bar far too high (and they let two other jerks BESIDES Ted Elliot & Terry Rossario write the movie). The comic relief was at times excessive, there were a few unnecessary Zorro backflips, leaps, and jumps in the fight scenes…but how can you absolutely dismiss a sequel for not being perfect? ‘The Legend of Zorro’ met my expectations for a sequel, though did not surpass them. I still consider ‘the Mask of Zorro’ to be THE BEST action/adventure film of the last 20 years. But to say ‘Legend’ was outright horrible is just not fair. This is meant to be fun escapism, set in a beautiful 1850’s California, starring actors who clearly are having a fun time, filled with sword fights, evil villains, great chases, and a clever story

Its only unforgivable sin was not finding one ‘in’ – any ‘in’ – that allowed Anthony Hopkins a cameo (like a flashback or a dream or something).

    “Training Day” Movie Review

    “Training Day” Plot Summary

On his first day on the job as a narcotics officer, a rookie cop works with a rogue detective who isn’t what he appears as.

    Excellent

This is one of the best movies I ever saw. It was a long time since I saw a such a good movie. First when I heard about this movie I thought that is another ‘gangsta movie’ with a boring story, a gang war or something like that, in the first 15 or 20 minutes I was a bit disappointed but after this I’ve realized that is a great movie. I thought at this movie o hole day after I saw it,is so close to reality, it is like a reality show or a flagrant made by police with a hidden camera, i never thought a movie like this is possible, makes us think at the life we livin’, at the society as it is, naked, without any clothes on it. The movie has a few errors, but at a movie with such a story does not matter a few issues, practically the story and the mode the movie is made ‘repairs’ the issues keeping you close to screen that you can’t see them. Denzel Washington plays awesome, I haven’t seen somebody playing so good in this kind if role since Al Pacino in Scarface, I’m sure that if a person that doesn’t know Denzel Washington as an actor, watches how he plays, that person will probably tel you that is a men taken from the streets, not an actor. Ethan Hawke plays great to, he was probably deserving an Oscar at the time but perhaps it was just bad luck

It’s an excellent movie with a great story that is waiting for entering Top 250, if you wanna see an exceptional movie you should watch this, I can’t find my words to describe it so I probably have to end my comment here.
