“Wrestler” Movie Review

“Wrestler” Plot Summary

A faded professional wrestler must retire, but finds his quest for a new life outside the ring a dispiriting struggle.

Amazing

I had no doubt in my mind that this movie was going to be great. I watched it a couple weeks back, and my god..It’s a work of art, I tell you.

I have never really seen many films with Mickey Rourke, that I remember. I had never really paid any attention to him, until now. He is an amazingly gifted actor. I cannot see anyone else being as right for that part, as he was.

I will be watching this movie again and again. Even if you’re not a wrestling fan, it doesn’t matter..It’s an amazingly, well done movie.

Go see it! 10/10

“Shrek the Third” Movie Review

“Shrek 3″ Plot Summary

When his new father-in-law, King Harold falls ill, Shrek is looked at as the heir to the land of Far, Far Away. Not one to give up his beloved swamp, Shrek recruits his friends Donkey and Puss in Boots to install the rebellious Artie as the new king. Princess Fiona, however, rallies a band of royal girlfriends to fend off a coup d’etat by the jilted Prince Charming.

Funny With a Great Message

When Fiona’s father and King of Far Far Away passes away, the clumsy Shrek becomes the immediate successor of the throne. However, Shrek decides to find the legitimate heir Artie in a distant kingdom with his friends Donkey and Puss in Boots to be able return to his beloved house in the swamp with the pregnant Fiona. Meanwhile, the envious and ambitious Prince Charming joins the villains of the fairy tales plotting a coup d’etat to become the new king.’Shrek the Third’ is very funny, having a great message in the end and completely underrated in IMDb. There are many unfair reviews and I really do not understand what these users have seen to dislike in this animation. There are many new characters from the fairy tales, but all of them has space along the plot, in at least one scene, and I liked, for example, the Cyclops with his beautiful daughter or the lines of Captain Hook just to mention two of them. I saw a version dubbed in Portuguese and the dialogs are excellent. The soundtrack is a plus and I loved ‘Immigrant Song’ and ‘Baraccuda’ in the attack of the heroines. My vote is eight

    “The Untouchables” Plot Summary

Federal Agent Elliot Ness sets out to take out Al Capone; because of rampant corruption, he assembles a small, hand-picked team.

    Great fun

A really terrific movie even if it does suffer from some plot holes and overly sentimental and long scenes, The Untouchables remains one of DePalma’s best, probably his last great film to date. Connery and Garcia are fantastic, and **spoiler alert** Connery’s death scene remains one of the best ever **. But as good as they are, De Niro’s Capone is a highlight, especially the ‘baseball’ scene. Well shot and well written as well. Lots of fun!

Wonderfully irreverent family film with lots of laughs

The filmmakers obviously have some irreverence regarding Disney, and it’s about time I say. Especially with the rather un-Disneylike behavior the studio has engaged in for the past dozen or so years. The anti Disney jokes are so much fun (our favorite is the ’small world’ parody!). I have to wonder what DULOC means! I have listened to the commentary on the DVD, done Google searches, looked through the trivia on IMDb, all to no avail. I wonder what the big secret is. Anyway, this is a family favorite of ours. The jokes may go over the heads of small children, but they will still enjoy the animation. The music is fantastic. My teenager even bought the soundtrack to it.

    “Saving Private Ryan” Plot Summary

Following the Normandy Landings, a group of US soldiers go behind enemy lines to retrieve a paratrooper whose brothers have been killed in action.

    Spielberg is God

Even thinking about this film gives me the chills , well, like practically everything Mr. Spielberg has done in his career , lifting the American movie into the cinematic heaven . Hopefully , many movies are still ahead of him , the greatest artist ever, no doubt !There is nothing new to say about Saving Private Ryan , after so many years , except that perhaps it ought to become the must study subject for anyone interested in military history or history as such , because ,friend,

it cannot go any gorier than this , that is, any more realistic than this ( watch Rambo 4 , When Trumpets Fade , Windtalkers ). Saving P.R. has somehow created a new genre of films , that is ultra-realistic war movie that transcends anything solely written, in fact , as has always been the case with Mr. Spielberg, literature gets its visual manifestation, where even Shakespeare would pipe down and bow in reverence ! Even 10 is not enough , simply no numerical quality, unit , exists to describe the sheer power of this cinematic experience , not even the designation ‘film ‘itself can do this ! Angelic, stratospheric , out of this dimension , Mona Lisa in cinema !

    “Trainspotting” Movie Review

    “Trainspotting” Plot Summary

Renton, deeply immersed in the Edinburgh drug scene, tries to clean up and get out, despite the allure of the drugs and influence of friends.

    One fantastic movie

I saw this movie last year as a friend had it on DVD from the UK and, being a Ewan McGregor fan, I thought I’d give it a shot even though it’s considered an ‘artsy’ film. I was so shocked! It is a fantastic movie. I watched it over & over until she made me give it back. The young Ewan gives an Oscar-worthy (why he wasn’t nominated is beyond me) turn as the heroin addict trying to pull himself out and away from his addict buddies. He narrates the whole film with that rich Scot accent of his (reminds me of my Scottish grandparents) which gives even more depth to the characters and situations. The descent into the hell of addiction to the death of an innocent baby (very realistic) in their ‘home’, Ewan swimming through a vast sea of crap (yes, THAT kind) in a toilet, on through the entire film showing his constant struggle within himself amidst his friends to stay clean & sober is amazing. I could go on and on. It brings a memory of another film I saw years ago with a young Leo DiCaprio & David Thewlis in a little-seen movie called ‘Total Eclipse’ and which is also considered an ‘art’ film and really quite good. If you get a chance to see this, please do. You will not be sorry. If you happen to find it on DVD, BUY IT.

    “8 Mile” Plot Summary

A young rapper, struggling with every aspect of his life, wants to make the most of what could be his final opportunity but his problems around gives him doubts. add synopsis

    An incredibly inspiring film.

Unlike many people who have seen this film, I’m no fan of Eminem. I never liked his music much, and put off watching the film for some time. Now that I’ve seen I’m very shocked at how good it is. Curtis Hanson has created an incredibly realistic environment. The film feels natural, and the script flows nicely

Many people have said that Eminem’s performance is sub-par, but maybe they are blinded by their opinion of him. If I had never seen him before, and thought he was just another actor, I could have seen him going somewhere with this. I don’t know if he’ll ever pursue a career in acting, but he should try. The supporting cast feels just right, exactly like the regular people you might see every day.’8 Mile’ is inspiring, and sure to be regarded as a classic in the years to come, once the hype has died off.7.7 out of 10

    “Apocalypse Now” Plot Summary

During the on-going Vietnam War, Captain Willard is sent on a dangerous mission into Cambodia to assassinate a renegade Green Beret who has set himself up as a God among a local tribe.

    Truly a Masterpiece

Somewhere on IMDb there is a discussion about the greatest director of all times (Spielberg, Copolla and others are named there). The greatest argument was around Spielberg and whether he is or isn’t a great director. The problem with Spielberg is that while he is a master technician, most of his films lack depth

Saving Ryan is really outstanding from a technical point of view, but its message is dull and while its very entertaining, it doesn’t make you think about anything. AN is the best movie I ever saw because it combines great shooting with a deep philosophical perspective on so many things, starting from war in general, the clash of civilizations, the condition of soldier in wartimes (is a soldier a hero or an assassin? Brando says he is neither, the french lady says he is both …) and many others. The problem with some people is that they try to argue about whether these points are true or false. But a great movie, and a great piece of art in general is supposed to spark arguments, not to solve them … Maybe Coppola is right, or maybe he isn’t, nobody holds the truth anyway. You can watch this movie for its outer beauty, amazing scenes, great acting and memorable quotes and you will be entirely satisfied. But what really make this movie a masterpiece is its inner quality. You can’t help but make a comparison with the recent Fahrenheit documentary

Both Copolla and Moore tackle similar issues, but while Copolla presents matters from an outside , objective point of view, Moore takes a very partisan position that really compromises the whole point of a documentary … It is really a shame that a film like Fahrenheit 9/11 won a prestigious award like Cannes. But anyway, if you want to start to understand a little of the Vietnam war, the Iraq war, the second World War and any war in general, you should definitely see this movie, and not the other one …

    “Mall Cop” Plot Summary

When a shopping mall is overtaken by a gang of organized crooks, it’s up to the a mild-mannered security guard to save the day.

    Good film comedy!….

I have just seen Paul Blart: Mall Cop this evening, and i thought that it was a good film comedy. It is about a man called Paul Blart who is a family man and a single parent, Paul lives with his daughter, Maya, in New Jersey. He has a job as a security guard in a New Jersey mall. he has tried to apply to become a cop, for years but he always fails the exam because he is overweight. He gets attracted to a mall employee called Amy, His efforts to try to get a date with Amy are hilarious as he must first know how to work mobile phones and text messaging. One day, a gang of criminals put the shopping mall under siege and take hostages. Paul Blart becomes trapped inside, and because of his sense of duty, he refuses to leave. And he attempts to stop the criminals on his own, with very funny results. I found this to be a good comedy film which i would recommend to people of all ages as it is rated PG so it is suitable for everyone to watch.

    “Friday the 13th” Movie Review

    “Friday the 13th” Plot Summary

A group of young adults discover a boarded up Camp Crystal Lake, where they soon encounter Jason Voorhees and his deadly intentions.

Fun if you’re of GWB intelligence

History (that is, movie history) tends to pre-colour one’s thinking and so the original Friday the 13th movies must precondition viewers for what’s to come in this, the latest offering for those with a propensity for bizarre murder stories

However, don’t today’s filmgoers deserve SOME credit for intelligence? Like, don’t we expect supposedly young adults with (supposedly) some education to behave a bit logically? Given that there’s a killer running amok in the neighborhood, wouldn’t it be sensible to plan some sort of strategy to beat him? But no. Our protagonists split up and race around the woods with the women screaming a lot of the time and the guys displaying gross incompetence. Interesting too that those ear-drum shattering screams, which, on an otherwise peaceful country night, would be easily heard at least two miles away, don’t seem to be heard by anyone when it’s most crucial. Ho Hum!Then, when one of the group eventually puts in an emergency call to the police telling them that there’s a mass killer slaying everyone in sight, the cops send ONE man! This is, in actual fact, in direct contrast to all those other American movies where the police send about two hundred armed swat-team members, several helicopters and umpteen squad cars all with sirens screaming to rescue a cat up a tree! Oh no! Not here! ONE cop – and a not too bright one at that! Then, as the climax approaches, with one of the protagonists at last armed with a gun, instead of using common sense and waiting for the killer to come into the line of fire and letting him have it with a single shot, our hero empties the magazine on closed doors and shadows and then goes racing out to his death at the hands of a far more calculating creature than himself or his companions

Nevertheless, if you like suspense with a bit of sexy action (not to mention some superb female bodies!!!) I guess you might get a little pleasure from the latest (but obviously not the final) Crystal Lake saga!
