” Alien Resurrection” 1997 by Jean-Pierre Jeunet – Movie Review

Sci-Fi thriller “Alien: Resurrection” finalizes the quadrilogy of cult series about Aliens. In “Alien 4″ we bid farewell to Ripley so wonderfully impersonated by Sigourney Weaver. The final victory is won and the aliens will never be able to cause irreparable damage to the Earth and endanger the existence of humankind.

“Alien: Resurrection” Plot Summary

Auriga Research Facility

Auriga Research Facility

Ripley is successfully cloned from the eighth attempt, and the alien embryo is given new life with her. The military seem to be not able to abandon the crazy unrealizable idea of taming the aliens, turning them into creatures under human control. They do not want to recognize that this lethal weapon could destroy human civilization forever. Nobody can manage to breed the aliens in captivity, neither did anybody manage to train them. In “Alien 4″ Ripley gets a second life, but cloning has caused an unexpected effect of hybridization. She is extremely strong, has a highly developed instincts. Her blood like the blood of Aliens is capable to burn through metal. She calls herself ‘mother of the monster” and has the ability to feel the presence of monsters. She became much colder and sober-minded than she was in her real life.

The criminal military officials’ plans extend so far that they are willing to pay the pirates for kidnapping. The live cargo is going to be a ‘farm’ for breeding these extremely ‘attractive’ creatures. But Aliens do not doze for an extra minute, they spend great time spreading inside the research center. Although Ripley is perceived by the scientists as the production waste, she and the female android Annalee Call (Winona Rider) are to save the humankind from the invasion of the terrible Aliens.

“The Silence of the Lambs” Movie Review

“The Silence of the Lambs” Plot Summary

A young FBI cadet must confide in an incarcerated and manipulative killer to receive his help on catching another serial killer who skins his victims.

    It’s a classic!

There is little doubt that the most memorable aspect of The Silence of the Lambs is Anthony Hopkins’ incomparable performance as Lecter. Taking over for Brian Cox, who was effective, but not especially memorable, as the good doctor in 1986’s Manhunter, Hopkins instantly makes the role his own, capturing and conveying the charismatic essence of pure evil. To his dying day, no matter how many roles he plays in the interim, Hopkins will forever be known for this part. (It is a credit to Hopkins’ ability as an actor that this part did not result in stereotyping. His post-Silence career has been greatly varied, with roles as widely diverse as a stodgy butler in Merchant-Ivory’s The Remains of the Day and an action hero in The Edge.) I can throw out any number of superlatives, but none of them do justice to this chilling performance, which I labeled as the best acting work of the ’90s. Want to feel the icy fingers of terror stroke your heart? Watch this mixture of brilliant eloquence and inhuman cruelty. As portrayed by Hopkins, Hannibal is both a suave, cultured gentleman and an unspeakable fiend. He is gracious and monstrous at the same time. (Hopkins also provided one of the most quotable lines in recent film history with ‘I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti’, which was followed by an inimitable slithering slurp.)

    “Dead Man” Movie Review

    “Dead Man” Plot Summary

On the run after murdering a man, accountant William Blake encounters a strange Indian named “Nobody” who prepares him for his journey into the spiritual world. add synopsis

A perfect full stop to a great genre

This is what I call ‘first class’. Music, picture, dialogues, atmosphere, the actors’ play I like it all. What I do no like is that at least one scene could be easily moved to ‘deleted scenes’ section, while all the deleted scenes should be put into the film. You don’t have to be a fortune-teller to understand what ‘one scene’ I mean

It is always enjoyable when the film is opened wide for interpretations. This is the case. When does Blake die? Where is he travelling? Is it reality? Who is that cannibal? Why is he being hit by an arrow? Who is that ‘Nobody’? Where is Blake heading? Being myself a bit of a guitar player I really enjoy the score. It adds a lot to the freaky pace of the film and creates the bizarre atmosphere

Great job, Mr Jim Jarmusch. But 9 out of 10 because of the existence of something extra and the absence of something vital and important. Thank you for attention.

“Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves” Movie Review

“Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves” Plot Summary

When Robin and his Moorish companion come to England and the tyranny of the Sheriff of Nottingham, he decides to fight back as an outlaw. add synopsis

    Just one word: Brilliant!!

***MAY CONTAIN LITTLE SPOILERS***I watched ‘The Prince of Thieves’ once again two days ago and it is still one of the most brilliant movies ever made. Despite the fact the crew had so many obstacles while making the film

Robin of Locksley (Kevin Costner) returns to England from his crusades with a Maori warrior Azeem (outstanding Morgan Freeman) and finds out that the evil sheriff of Nottingham (superb Alan Rickman) has taken over his fathers lands. From that one there begins a war to make a difference in sheriff’s terrorizing Nottingham. Robin becomes Hood and he is fighting to give the good days back to the people as they deserve it. There is a little bit of everything in the film. There is adventures, excitement, romance, humor, action. Everything you could ever wish from the great, enjoyable film! If you liked ‘The Adventures of Robin Hood’ starring by Errol Flynn you will also enjoy this timeless story about the man who stole from the rich and gave it to the poor! The film making was a struggle right from the start. The producers had some difficulties to hire a competent director to the job. Even the production manager and the other heads of department were hired before the director. There was a bit hurry to make ‘Prince of Thieves’ because there was two other Robin Hood pictures coming. They were just like in a race. Then a man called Kevin Reynolds was hired to the job of directing. Then the production team was short of lead actor to play Robin. Other major parts Morgan Freeman, Alan Rickman and Christian Slater were already in place. Robin Wright was replaced with Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio to play Maid Marian because of Wright’s pregnancy. Then there came Kevin Costner. He only signed up for the job because of Kevin Reynolds. After casting everybody the working team came across the difficulty of the lack of enough time. There was also some rough times between Costner and Reynolds. Even the guys had some disagreement the film opened in the year 1991 and managed to snatch a 25 million dollars at the opening weekend and was later going to bag 390 million dollars worldwide. Not bad if the production had some of bad critic and problems behind them. Obviously even Costner and Reynolds managed to put their hatred aside because later they teamed up in the flop ‘Waterworld’ which was by the way then (1995) the most expensive movie in the world! (Whopping 175 million dollars spent) Even if the film contains some of the most disturbing mistakes in film making it does not effect on the result. So what if Robin’s hair is suddenly turn from wet to dry and again back to wet it does not reflect to the essence of this marvelous piece of history. It is worth waiting the last scene where legendary Sean Connery makes an appearance as King Richard the Lionheart! (Connery donated his 400,000 dollar fee to charity)The legendary and undying ballad ‘Everything I Do (I Do It For You) by Bryan Adams is the best movie theme song in the history of film making!Worth to watch with it’s faults and all!
