“(500) Days of Summer” Movie Review
“(500) Days of Summer” Plot Summary
An offbeat romantic comedy about a woman who doesn’t believe true love exists, and the young man who falls for her.
Fresh & Original Romantic Comedy
This was an excellent romantic comedy, although many might not agree that it is either romantic or a comedy. I found myself laughing out loud at many of the scenes, but the laughs in the theater were few, and I think most people would label this a drama with streaks of black comedy
The driving force behind what makes this movie work (beside the script) is Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Tom Hansen, who carries the movie on the basis of his physical comedy and acting ability. He is the unrequited love interest in the film. JGL does have brief glimpses of true love with Summer (Zooey Deschanel) but it’s clear she’s not interested in anything permanent, just a good time. After his initial sexual encounter with Summer, JGL engaged in a choreographed dance routine of Hall & Oats ‘Your Making my Dreams Come True’, which should win JGL some type of award
Deschanel plays the role she usually plays, soulful & pretty free spirit. She played the character very well and the movie viewer could well understand her reticence to engage in a long term affair with Tom
These types of movies might leave some cold, but the ending turned out well
One additional bonus was Chloe Moritz, who played Tom’s younger teenage sister and Psycho-Analyst. She was great
A very good movie worth checking out. A near perfect date movie I might add.

“The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou” Movie Review
“The Life Aquatic” Plot Summary
With a plan to exact revenge on a mythical shark that killed his partner, oceanographer Steve Zissou rallies a crew that includes his estranged wife, a journalist, and a man who may or may not be his son. add synopsis
Absolutely Brilliant
The thing that some people forget is that Wes Anderson co-wrote the script. the Life Aquatic is quite possibly one of the most original movies i have ever seen, and, personally, i loved every aspect of it. The score was spectacular, mixing Bowies actual recordings with the Portugese covers of Sue Jorge was ingenious. In my opinion the story bares some resemblance to that of Moby Dick, in that the main character is the Capitan of a ship and is bent on finding a sea creature for, at first, revenge… but draw your own comparisons
All in all, the movie was stellar and grabbed my attention from beginning to end, although, it is definitely one of those films that you either like or dislike, and i obviously liked it. I recommend seeing it even if your friends say that its bad, i only rented it in the first place because it was all they had at Video Connection one lonely Friday night and i needed something to watch, and all of my friends, none of whom know what their talking about, trashed it never the less i found it beautiful, hilarious, and over-all an absolutely stunning work of art by Mr. Wes Anderson… also, if you saw it and liked it, you should check out the Royal Tenenbaums, also directed by Anderson, it is almost as good as the Life Aquatic.

“Alvin and the Chipmunks” Movie Review
“Alvin and the Chipmunks” Plot Summary
A struggling songwriter named Dave Seville finds success when he comes across a trio of singing chipmunks: mischievous leader Alvin, brainy Simon, and chubby, impressionable Theodore. add synopsis
Entertainment for all.
Forget the critics. This may not be greatest acting/script/etc but it is entertaining. I saw it at an 80% full session and the adults out-laughed the kids. I’m glad I went. Many small details for those like me who remember 1958. I have to admit that I like Jason Leee and he does a reasonable effort without being excessively silly. Ian played David Cross is a little over the top but this was acceptable to the adults and made it very easy for the youngest kids to understand. The animation of the Chipmunks was great, OK they did not look like real chipmunks but they did not look cartoonish like in Roger Rabbit. The story was reasonable and provided lots of laughs throughout which many ‘A’ grade comedies fail to do. In conclusion a ‘B’ grade family move which succeeds 100%’
