“Finding Neverland” Plot Summary
The story of J.M. Barrie’s friendship with a family who inspired him to create Peter Pan.
Beautiful, Moving Movie with Very Few Flaws
I had heard that this was merely a ‘chick flick.’ Hey, my wife is the one who wanted to go see it. As it turned out, I went with three other guys, and we all loved it
Some movies entertain; some teach; some open up new worlds. This movie opened up new worlds. With each passing scene, carefully woven from the previous ones, it was like crossing yet another threshold into another world. The story unfolded deeper and deeper with each new scene, each layer adding not to complexity (the story is rather simple), but to the depth. Depp and the others (esp. the young actor who played Peter) easily lead the audience deeper and deeper into the paths of authenticity, healing, love, friendship and the triumph of inner strength. The other characters, likewise, garnish the central story excellently
The only flaw I saw is, I’m sure, a matter of taste and perspective; I felt the grandmother was simply too two-dimensional and not as believable as she should have been, though she, too, had some beautiful moments that truly added to the film
Having much experience with divorce (being a divorce attorney) I found the unfortunate relationship between Depp’s character and his wife believable to a tee: two people deeply in love with each other yet more committed to personal pursuits than tending the difficult relationship we call marriage. Ironically, though Depp’s character ultimately became the main caretaker of the four boys, by following the tender feelings of his heart, he allowed his marriage to evaporate by not following the other tender feelings of his heart
Nearly perfect. I give it a 9 out of 10.

“Vantage Point” Plot Summary
The attempted assassination of the American President is told and re-told from several different perspectives.
Fun Crime Thriller
I really liked this movie for what it was. I’m not really sure what other people were expecting to give it what I believe to be unfair and too harsh critiques, but this is a good movie. It is not perfect, nor is it great, nor did it show me something I have never seen before, but it is a nice little crime thriller done in a unique manner
I have read that a lot of people felt that it was boring to see the same story played out over and over. But wasn’t that the point of this film? We knew that was going to be the case coming into this movie. And the thing of it is is that there is enough different in each perspective where it is not a bore to see the same instance multiple times. I liked how it was up to the viewer to try to piece things together and figure out exactly what happened and who the culprit really is. This is a good movie if you are not looking for anything great or mind blowing. I do enjoy when I see a great, mind blowing film, but I’m not expecting it every time that I sit down to watch a movie. I do not see any reason to dislike this movie. It’s good for what it is and if you’re in the market for an entertaining, ‘who dunnit?’ crime thriller I say ‘Vantage Point’ makes for a fun watch.

“Moulin Rouge” Movie Review
“Moulin Rouge” Plot Summary
A poet falls for a beautiful courtesan whom a jealous duke covets in this stylish musical, with music drawn from familiar 20th century sources. add synopsis
The greatest thing you’ll ever learn is to love, and to be loved in return…
And so I went, journeying into the unforgettable trip that was ‘Moulin Rouge!’ – now and forever one of my all-time favourite MOVIES (not just movie musicals) ever! I simply cannot say enough to express how very deeply this film affected me when I first viewed it…it’s impossible. From the very first jaw-dropping image of the 20th-Century Fox logo bordered by a beautiful red velvet curtain and a bouncy conductor – I knew then that I was about to experience something I had never seen before. Grand, inspiring, original, flawless…everything that so many others have said in their descriptions of ‘Moulin Rouge!’ could not be put any better. This is the reason I am now a bona-fide fan of director Baz Luhrmann. I had actually seen some of his previous work – the hyperkinetic modern version of William Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo & Juliet’ – and from then on was absolutely hooked onto his visual flair. Likewise with ‘R+J’, ‘Moulin Rouge!’ oozes with theatrical energy, gorgeous costumes/set designs, terrific music, and of course, first-rate acting from its wonderful two leads, as well as the supporting cast
Watching the first few minutes, I could unfortunately see why this movie was ignored and laughed at by many critics, filmgoers, etc.; apparently it developed a bit of a ‘cult’ following of sorts after that. I agree that it’s not for everybody – but come on, after I finished it, I remember thinking: ‘What’s wrong with everybody? This movie is a classic! What were the haters thinking?’ Granted, if you don’t like musicals, I can understand, but for others, I guess its overwhelming originality and unconventional wisdoms were too much for some people. Oh, well…you clearly can’t please everybody
At any rate, this film deserved all the praise and award nominations it received and/or won. It’s certainly one of the more interesting and groundbreaking films released early in the new millennium, and it truly reminds some of us just why we love movies in the first place (or musicals, or MOVIE musicals, for that matter). It lifts our spirits with often-campy fun. It’s lovely, it’s larger-than-life, and it’s just plain phenomenal. A joy to watch and listen to
I’ll stop gushing for now…I think I’ve made my point clear. Thank you.* * * TRUTH * BEAUTY * FREEDOM * LOVE * * *
