    “The Punisher” Movie Review

    “The Punisher” Plot Summary

After his wife and family are killed, G-Man Frank Castle takes it upon himself to distribute punishment to those responsible for the vendetta.

GREAT MOVIE! vigilante-style justice done right

‘The Punisher’ is a shining example of revenge and vigilante-style justice done right. It’s also yet another comic book adaptation done properly. I thought this movie was one of the best I have seen in a long time. In the compendium of comic movies, this falls just shy of the two X-Men movies and Spider-Man but easily surpasses Batman, Batman Begins, Superman and The Hulk. The fact that it is an R-rated movie will kill any possible chance of decent box-office numbers, but it was a necessary step to take, and the quality of the movie just makes up for it. Hopefully this was Thomas Jane’s breakout role, as he was outstanding and has the potential to be a contender to Ben Affleck, Hugh Jackman, Colin Farrell, and Matt Damon as the next big action star. If you like action movies, check out this movie. If you like comic book adaptations, check out this movie. Heck, if you just like movies in general, The Punisher is two hours well-spent. Like Thomas Jane himself says, ‘Frank Castle is dead. Long live The Punisher.’

    “Bad Boys II” Movie Review

    “Bad Boys 2″ Plot Summary

Two loose-cannon narcotics cops investigate the flow of Ecstacy into Florida.

    Bad Boys 1 + more = Bad Boys 2

Bad Boys 1 was a good movie but Bad Boys 2 was a substantial improvement. Below I have listed a number of reasons why I think this.1) There was a higher number of action sequences. 2) The action sequences were more exciting. 3) There was more humour. 4) The humour was funnier. 5) Gabrielle Union is in it and she is hot! 6) The phrase ‘Woosah’ which really made me laugh every time

OK I will admit that the storyline is not exactly a great one but all the above really more than makes up for it. A brilliant action movie and a brilliant sequel. And I hear that a third movie could be on the way! Can’t wait!

    “Swordfish” Plot Summary

A secretive renegade counter-terrorist co-opts the world’s greatest hacker (who is trying to stay clean) to steal billions in US Government dirty money.

    Great movie! Travolta is back!

When I first saw the previews for this movie, I thought, ‘Yeah, that looks cool, but… I really didn’t like Gone in 60 Seconds.’ I didn’t have the chance to see it in the theater, but I did buy the dvd. All I can say is, it was a good thing that I did! Unlike Gone in 60 Seconds, this movie is much more plot oriented. You need to pay attention to this movie to fully understand the plot. I really don’t see how people can say that this plot is confusing. It makes sense as long as you watch and pay attention, just like all movies. Also, the action scenes are just incredible to watch, especially with the dvd that uses 5.1 sound. The ending and the villains motives will shock you! The movie will also cause you to contemplate many things once the movie has ended. By the way, Halle Berry looks amazing in the movie! All in all this movie is just the epitome of cool, and it was definately one of the better action movies of 2001. Finally Travolta is back at what he does best. As a side note, this is a hell of a lot better then BATTLEFIELD EARTH,which by the way was not as bad as everyone said it was. I really think that you should see this, I don’t think that you will be dissapointed.9/10 Great.

    “Abyss” Movie Review

    “Abyss” Plot Summary

A civilian diving team are enlisted to search for a lost nuclear submarine and face danger while encountering an alien aquatic species.

    Deeply Amazing

    Dear Readers,

One of my favorite Sci-Fi films is The Abyss, a deep water action/adventure film by the master of Science Fiction, James Cameron. A stunning thriller filmed almost entirely underwater and one of the first films to feature CGI effects. But it’s not the special effects that define this film. It’s the plot, the script, the characters, and the direction.

The Abyss begins with a US Nuclear Submarine encountering an anomaly in the ocean, causing them to crash into a trench at the bottom of the ocean. The US Navy is powerless to reach them because of an incoming Hurricane. So instead they hire a group of underwater oil miners led by Virgil ‘Bud’ Brigman. Brigman’s soon-to-be-ex-wife, Lindsay, infuriated that her underwater oil rig is being used for a military operation, tags along with a group of Navy SEALS led by the cold Lieutenant Coffey. As they investigate the Sub wreckage, the Divers and the SEALS encounter a power living down in the Abyss…A power with the ability to save the world or destroy it.

James Cameron outdoes himself with this underwater thriller and so does the cast. You get inside each of the characters heads and see each their points of view. Ed Harris plays his role quietly and coolly, playing a man who’s become bitter from losing his wife and questioning whether there is life at the bottom of the ocean. Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio is awesome as Lindsay Brigman, a dedicated engineer and scientist determined to prove that the life at the bottom of the Abyss is not a threat to mankind. Michael Biehn steals the show, though, as the slowly-going-insane Lieutenant Coffey. Not since watching Platoon have I seen such insanity in a man. Gone is the cool charming character of Kyle Reese and instead is a man who will kill anything that threatens his mission.

    Point blank: Watch this film.

Signed, The Constant DVD Collector, Matt Macleod

Parental Warning: There’s some mild swearing and tense moments, but there’s also a scene of nudity as well. I recommend not letting your kids see this if they’re under teenage years. You be the judge.

    “Miss Undercover” Plot Summary

An FBI agent must go undercover in the Miss United States beauty pageant to prevent a group from bombing the event. add synopsis

    Wonderful comedy, unmissable!

I absolutely loved Miss Congeniality, it was funny warm and completely likable. The best aspect was the charming and funny performance of the underrated Sandra Bullock as Gracie, in possibly her best role. Gracie is a beautiful woman, but her behaviour like the pig snorting isn’t very typical of women. She is excellently supported by a witty, side splittingly funny script, and some lovely camera-work. (the painting scene was priceless)Not to mention the original plot that never marred the feel good nature of the film. The performances of Michael Caine and Candice Bergen were excellent. But if I had one minor criticism, it would be that William Shatner slightly overplayed his part of Stan, other than that it is a comedy you just don’t want to miss. 9.5/10 Bethany Cox.

    “The Hurt Locker” Movie Review

    “The Hurt Locker” Plot Summary

Iraq. Forced to play a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse in the chaos of war, an elite Army bomb squad unit must come together in a city where everyone is a potential enemy and every object could be a deadly bomb.

One of the best war films of the past 25 years…

Gut-wrenching, pulse-pounding, out of this world tension, just mere exterior descriptions of what Kathryn Bigelow’s new film, The Hurt Locker is. Written by Mark Boal, The Hurt Locker overflows with intensity, passion, and reverence. In the wake of 9/11, filmmakers have struggled to create a piece that is socially accepted and respected. Only two films have succeeded in this task over the past eight years; Paul Greengrass’ beautiful United 93, depicting an open interpretation of the final moments of the doomed plane and now, Bigelow’s film will join the short, elite list

This character-driven tale tells the stories of three army soldiers who are a part of the most dangerous of jobs to offer in the military, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), in plainer terms, they disarm bombs. Staff Sergeant William James played ferociously by Jeremy Renner heads up this story as a soldier facing death every moment of the day. With his wife and child at home and often displaying unorthodox behavior, James seems fit for a war soldier. Sergeant JT Sanborn, played by Anthony Mackie is a by-the-book man, living his days at war while incurring losses along the way. Specialist Owen Eldridge played by Brian Geraghty is young, bewildered, and thrust into a situation unknowing of the impact it would have. What these three men bring to their respective roles educates the viewer of the horrors of war. Forget what you think you know on CNN and your local news, Bigelow is running the show with Boal out on assignment and Renner, Mackie, and Geraghty as our anchors. The crews of the picture are the tools in building this powerful vessel. Cinematographer Barry Ackroyd uses his four camera use to keep us feeling like a first-person account of the events of the film. The mesh of Marco Beltrami & Buck Sanders score and the sound effects team makes for a more suspenseful experience. Filming in Jordan was the choice of Bigelow to give it a more authentic feel. ‘If you’re going to make a film about the Middle East, make it in the Middle East.’ Bigelow said to me after the film. It paid off big time because I always felt like I was there in the battle zone, enduring pain, torment, and dehydration. With a NY & LA release set for Friday, June 26th, The Hurt Locker’s deserves all the praise its been receiving and should be experienced by any movie lover. The Oscar Prospects might look a little grim based on the summer release but with no real first-half of 2009 contenders, Bigelow and her film have strong chances of taking a spot amongst the final five come end of the year. Renner and Mackie will also be strong contenders in their respective categories. The strongest possibility for an Oscar has to be for writer Mark Boal. The research he did for the film alone will keep Boal in the minds of voters. The Hurt Locker’s striking cinematography, crisp editing that keeps it at a heart palpating pace, strong performances, directing, and writing is enough to take this film in consideration for your viewing. Brilliant, simply brilliant.****/****

    “Cellular” Plot Summary

A young man receives an emergency phone call on his cell phone from an older woman. The catch? The woman claims to have been kidnapped; and the kidnappers have targeted her husband and child next.

this movie has the best pace of any movie i have ever seen.

i was literally on the edge of my seat watching this movie. this was one of those days where i went to blockbuster and they just had nothing out that week. i saw cellular and i thought it could have some potential. i didn’t have high expectations, but it blew me away. the acting was pretty good, not great. but where this movie shines is its action and extremely fast pace. in one of the parts of the movie where he steals the porsche, i actually found myself on the very edge of my couch. this didn’t win any Oscars or anything, but its good thrilling entertainment. not a lot of people heard about it, but its had the same effect on everyone I’ve shown it to.

    good

beautiful film. As to the usual one, the usual negative comments which talk about a classical film some years 80 which everyone does not like it to the nostalgic ones are met

Sure Heros that this film had to have a judgment in this site. In fact reviewers’ good part has put a high vote to the previous episodes. Because this contrast? I know the reason. Since assumptive reviewers’ good part favorably sees the past and as the past is ‘better’ than the present they have given several credit to the preceding episodes being still the last episode more explosive and spectacular. At this point should reject also the old episodes but there are here two weights and two measure

In fact also cinema masterpieces have been criticized and denigrated. Good part some reviewers of this site belong to the very bad reviewers. Better think separately with its head. I was sure that the god fun old episode did not like it. Who has to be withdrawn is not george lucas but the last reviewer SAMPAT GO AWAY. Cary Guffey

“Once Upon a Time in Mexico” Plot Summary

Hitman “El Mariachi” becomes involved in international espionage involving a psychotic CIA agent and a corrupt Mexican general.

    Enjoyable

Once Upon a Time is overall a pretty enjoyable movie. Despite its bizarre randomness, action fans will love the fighting scenes and gun play. Not to mention the characters who were actually somewhat interesting and not stolen, which has got to be a first when it comes to the action genre. I can honestly say that I enjoyed all of the characters, even that stupid Taco Bell type dog that the American carried around and put a wiretap on. I really don’t have too many complaints about the movie, and thought it was interesting throughout

El was a crazy, crazy man. If cornered by a massive army, he would just whip out his guitar and fire off grenades and laser beams taking everyone out, saving his guitar until the end. He would then throw it at General Marquez, causing a 1 Megaton nuclear warhead to go off right behind him as he makes his escape into a hand-made shelter from his Mexican buddies.7.5 / 10
