“Reign Over Me” Plot Summary
A man who lost his family in the September 11 attack on New York City runs into his old college roommate. Rekindling the friendship is the one thing that appears able to help the man recover from his grief.
Not Warm and Fuzzy but it IS Great ~ Don’t Miss This
I didn’t know what to expect with this one. I was pleasantly surprised as well as shocked. Adam Sandler met and surpassed any expectations I would have ever had with a dramatic role
This film will take you through an emotional roller coaster and because of it’s execution, you won’t even mind. The story itself is too painful to imagine but the range of emotions are very understandable. You can’t help but feel something for both of the leads but the story is clearly focused on Sandler. Adam delivers a more than capable performance in a VERY demanding role
Whatever you were/are expecting from this film, expect more. Set aside two hours and prepare to involve yourself. I was actually disappointed when it ended because I wanted more story. How often can you say that?

“The Wedding Singer” Plot Summary
Robbie, the singer and Julia, the waitress are both engaged to be married but to the wrong people. Fortune intervenes to help them discover each other.
A great fun film to watch for the whole family!
I was just watching the Wedding Singer last night on television. I still love this film for all its quirks. I love the fact that it was set in the eighties. Contemporary music and MTV with all its real world shows are not the same as in the eighties. I become very nostalgic watching this film. I remember all the songs, the Madonna look of the moment, the Rubix cube, Freddy Kruger, etc. It is hard to believe that it’s almost twenty years since 1985. It was much better in 1985 for me, I was still a child and there were always music videos on MTV. They weren’t just concert videos neither. They told little stories. I wished that we were still in the eighties with the music and culture. Besides all the eighties stuff, they never tried to outdo it in the film. It really is a beautiful, sweet love story between Drew Barrymore’s character, Julia, and the wedding singer, Robby Hart. I love the flight to Vegas and I won’t spoil the ending for anybody else. The scenes at reception hall were always a pleasure to watch and a great cast. I love watching fellow SNL–Jon Lovitz, Laura Kightlinger, Kevin Nealon, play even small roles. I loved Ellen Law playing Rosie. She was the best supporting character in this film. The fact that Billy Idol is also in it playing himself is another reason to watch. I wish there were films about the 80s.

“Walk the Line” Plot Summary
A chronicle of country music legend Johnny Cash’s life, from his early days on an Arkansas cotton farm to his rise to fame with Sun Records in Memphis, where he recorded alongside Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins. add synopsis
Johnny would be proud.
Hello, I’m Johnny Cash
I’ve seen a lot of singer biopics: all the way from the Buddy Holly Story to Coal Miner’s Daughter. This one can’t quite make it to Coal Miner, but it’s light years ahead of Buddy. I read a review today that said that Joaquin was too short and Reese was too pretty to play Johnny and June. The reviewer was right, but what the hell does that have to do with great acting. They got it right and this old hillbilly cried, that’s right–cried–at every historical landmark they hit. Oscars for Joaquin and Reese–that’s all I want.woody pulpsWalk The Line update 03/19/2006.
A retraction is in order. Not only have I come to realize this movie beats all the singer biopics, in my opinion, it beats all biopics and, indeed, has become my favorite movie…period. Read Jack Shaw’s comment below. It’s worth your time.(I did exactly what you asked and resisted a comment on a comment, but I gave in even though I tried).
Oh, and by the way, if Dan John Miller wasn’t channeling Luther on the guitar, there is no such thing
Great lines from the movie:June Carter…June Carter…when will you be mine? (sing it to the tune of Hey, Porter). June: I surmise you haven’t been to bed. An intoxicated Johnny: surmiiiiiise….Luther Perkins: It’s in A….A (nods ‘yes’ to Marshall Grant).
June: I got tangled!woody pulps

“The Fourth Kind” Movie Review
“The Fourth Kind” Plot Summary
A thriller involving an ongoing unsolved mystery in Alaska, where one town has seen an extraordinary number of unexplained disappearances during the past 40 years and there are accusations of a federal cover up.
Great movie!
This movie was a total surprise, in a good way. The trailer wasn’t particularly amazing, but it did get me excited for the movie. Still though, I came out shocked at how good the movie actually was
First of all, the so-called archival footage and audio that is supposedly real, is fake…or so I think. You can’t really trust Hollywood these days when they release a movie ‘based on true events’. I’m not one to fall for the marketing hype, so I went into the movie with this in the back of my mind. It had no effect on my overall opinion of the movie
The movie was filled with a great story in my opinion, had tons of suspense and had its fair share of disturbing and freaky moments. I wouldn’t be surprised if some small percentage of all the abduction phenomenon reports are in fact real. In the case of the movie though, I highly doubt it was real. Still though, movies are meant for entertainment and this movie certainly accomplished this. It was also refreshing to see the movie give a bit of insight into the Ancient Astronaut Theory. It’s finally getting some mainstream light shed on it
I have no doubt in my mind that extraterrestrial life exists throughout the cosmos, you have to be a truly ignorant and close-minded person to believe that we are alone in this vast, infinite universe. What a waste of space it would be. All in all, great movie, you won’t be disappointed. Go watch it, it will make you question your beliefs.

“Road to Perdition” Movie Review
“Road to Perdition” Plot Summary
Bonds of loyalty are put to the test when a hitman’s son witnesses what his father does for a living.
This film proves why Tom Hanks is one of the best actors ever.
I loved this film! I’m a true Tom Hanks fan, and I have always been impressed with all of his work. From his most dramatic roles like Cast Away, The Green Mile, Saving Private Ryan, Forrest Gump, Apollo 13 & Philadelphia. To his hilarious roles like A League of Their Own, Turner and Hooch, Catch Me If You Can, The Lady Killers, Big & of course Toy Story. But in this film Hanks isn’t the only great actor who lights up the screen. Tyler Hoechlin, an up and coming star who shows great promise in Hollywood co stars as Hanks son and delivers nothing short of a great performance. He is certainly someone to watch out for over his career, I believe he will do great things. Paul Newman as always delivers a brilliant performance on screen. He is truly a legend. We can’t forget the people who didn’t have such big roles in the film, but still helped make it great. The beautiful & very talented Jennifer Jason Leigh, who’s performance in Bastard Out of Carolina & Single White Female I will never forget, brings her grace to the screen as Hank’s wife in the film and does a superb job. Liam Aiken is another found treasure in film. He does such a great job with such a small role, and like his roles in Lemony Snickets, and Sweet November, and I Dreamed Of Africa he gives a great performance.

If you are reading this review (or indeed any other) trying to assess whether or not you should watch this film then please read no further and just go and slip in the DVD and let the sights and sounds of Middle Earth wash over you. Nothing I, or indeed anyone else, can say should help you to form an opinion prior to watching. I guess the audience for the three films fall into two categories; those who have read the books and those who have not. Those who have not, in my experience, tend to be overwhelmed by the absolute majesty of the vision but a little non-plussed by the actual story – seeing it as just some rather dopey fantasy; a Star Wars trilogy set in past times for the modern audience if you like. Then there is the ‘yes, I have read the books’ class who in general seem to have a kind of smug arrogance grounded in comments such as ‘they left out too much’, ‘its not what I imagined’ or ‘Of course its all an allegory for the rise of the third Reich’. Tolkein bemoaned the lack of an heroic mythology for the English people and he sought to create one in his Rings trilogy of books. My opinion is too humble to count – but if you want it, I believe he succeeded. The epic backdrop, the heroes and villains, the rich history, the races and the languages are all utterly plausible as a long cherished story handed down over many generations. Peter Jackson and his team must be congratulated not only for their wonderful realisation of Middle Eath and its inhabitants; but for crafting a series a movies that captured the very essence of what Tolkein was trying to achieve. Well done also for leaving out Tom Bombadil.

“Fight Club” Movie Review
“Fight Club” Plot Summary
An office employee and a soap salesman build a global organization to help vent male aggression.
Fight Club (1999)
I feel it’s appropriate that this is the first film I am reviewing, as this is the film that changed me. This is the film that made me so passionate about it and drove me to want to study film at a tertiary institution and, you guessed it, write my own reviews. Obviously I was already really into film before my first viewing of Fight Club, but it was this film that set off that spark
Don’t let the title fool you. As a film fanatic, I always view a film without any prior ideas or opinions. This allows me to be able to write what I really thought of the film instead of writing a review on what I thought the film was going to be like. I understand that a lot of people go into the cinemas or video store and choose something to watch with the help of titles and covers. Would you go into the video store and pick up a DVD called Fight Club that was rated R18 with graphic violence and offensive language? If no, then that’s prior opinion. I didn’t let the title create a prior opinion. Now that I’ve cleared up any confusion with the title, I’m going to make this statement: Fight Club is a masterpiece
Jack, the narrator (Edward Norton), is a chronic insomniac desperate to escape his excruciatingly boring life. He joins these support groups for dying people. It becomes an addiction because it cures his insomnia. However, it is taken away from him when this girl named Marla Singer (Helena Bonham Carter) starts turning up to the same support groups. This is when he meets Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt), a charismatic soap salesman with a twisted philosophy. Tyler believes self-improvement is for the weak it’s self-destruction that really makes life worth living. Before long, Jack and Tyler are beating each other to a pulp in a bar parking lot, a cathartic slugfest that delivers the ultimate high. To introduce other men to the simple joys of physical violence, Jack and Tyler form a secret Fight Club that becomes wildly successful. But there’s a shocking surprise waiting for Jack that will change everything
From the moment the opening credits start, the audience knows that it is going to be one bumpy ride. Fincher is well-known for having interesting and atmospheric opening credit sequences, and the beginning of Fight Club is no exception. The amount of adrenaline and thrill pumped into your veins as you view the opening credits is amazing. You cannot get much like it. Only Fincher could capture that mood and chuck it at you from the first few seconds of the film. From then on in, the film is fast and action fuelled, with moments of realisation, excessive violence, and even humour (Brad Pitt’s character Tyler Durden is comic relief in itself).
In my eyes, this film is a masterpiece. Every single element of the film is perfect. How the film is put together by Fincher, along with the soundtrack composed by The Dust Brothers, the storyline/twist ending, along with the superb performances from the actors and actresses, especially from Brad Pitt, Edward Norton and Helena Bonham Carter, Fight Club is and will probably remain my favourite film. 5 out of 5 stars. *****

“Hulk 2″ Plot Summary
Dr. Bruce Banner, thanks to a gamma ray experiment gone wrong, transforms into a giant green-skinned hulk whenever his pulse rate gets too high. Meanwhile, a soldier uses the same technology to become an evil version of the original.
Truly Incredible… extraordinary in every way!
What a summer Marvel is having! Iron Man hitting big was great but Incredible Hulk may even top it. I caught a pre-screening and I can assure everyone that the Hulk delivers more action and maybe more fun. If you are concerned that this film is another Ang Lee type misfire, don’t be. It’s about 100 times better then the version of five years ago. Unlike the Ang Lee effort, it’s presented in a way that can be savored. The pacing is perfect and the action is relentlessly awesome. What’s amazing is that they managed to play both sides perfectly. It’s far deeper then I would’ve thought given the subject matter. Each frame is packed with action, emotion, drama or intensity. I was expecting to see a crazy green giant destroying the landscape and fighting another crazy green monster for two hours. I was shocked at the complexity of this movie. Given Edward Norton’s involvement, I don’t know why I’m so surprised. The action is certainly there but the tone is perfect, a mix of the TV flavor with all the action from the comic books. Hulk does indeed ’smash’ but it’s more then just dumb action with no plot. It truly is an all around exceptional film. Also, I’m amazed at how far the CGI came since the first teaser trailer. This remarkable CGI works very well and it offers the chance to savor a complete movie going experience without being pulled out of the film. This trimmed downed Hulk looks perfect and his opponent is truly frightening. The final battle between the two will go down in movie history as one of the greatest fights of all-time. Overall, a summer movie that’s superior to everything else that I’ve seen this year, with the possible exception of Iron Man. Again, who would’ve thought that Marvel would be a perfect two for two this summer? Speaking of Iron Man (*Beware SPOILER*) Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) does indeed show up at the end of the film(they cut from Banner and that green eyed smile we’ve all seen in the TV ads right to the Stark scene and the hairs on your neck will stand up)

“X-Men Origins: Wolverine” Movie Review
“Wolverine” Plot Summary
After seeking to live a normal life, Logan sets out to avenge the death of his girlfriend by undergoing the mutant Weapon X program and becoming Wolverine. |
Best of the X
‘I’m the best at what I do and what I do ain’t pretty’ This film surprisingly stays fairly true to what we know about Wolverine and the ‘Weapon X’ program through the comic books. The film is largely based in Barry Windsor-Smythe’s ‘weAponX’ which was run as a serial in the ‘Marvel Comics Presents’ comic book line and later released in Trade Paperback form.
There is a lot here for fans of Wolverine, certain aspects of this story were taken right from the Wolverine series of 1988 – Wolverine’s relationship with ‘Silver Fox’ uses a lot of elements straight from the books and that ‘chapter’ of the wolverine story is actually fairly close to the source material. The only dramatic license I did not like was that Sabretooth and Wolverine are shown as brothers.
Since the weAponX story by BWS was drawn in a cinematic style, a lot of the imagery from that book survives translation to Film format just as well as any Frank Miller book.
While a lot of creative license was taken with some characters and some of the events that occur, much of the dialogue is taken straight from the books and the overall concept is maintained.
Regarding the look of the film, I can use one example, when ‘Gambit’ reveals his powers, the image we are given matches the iconic profile of Gambit- From the comic books and the 1992-96 Cartoon.
Since ‘Victor Creed/Sabretooth’ was a major part of this film, I was semi-disappointed that they did not get Tyler Mane to reprise his earlier 2000 role (Or, pre-prise, whatever the word would be) – The original X-Men film had perfectly cast Sabretooth. I wish they had cast Liev Schreiber for that original film, as he gives more to the character than occasional grunts and snarls that Tyler Mane used for language. Schreiber actually gives the character valid depth and darkness and is less of a cardboard cutout. My only real gripe about using a new actor for this role is that they did not try to match the image from the books, as the 2000 film did perfectly. And so the popular image of Wolverine engaged in mortal combat with Sabretooth- As painted by former Wolverine artist Mark Texiera and reproduced as a huge poster – That image was damaged and I do not know if other Wolverine fans are a forgiving as I am.
Regardless of if the reason ‘James Logan’ becomes part of the Weapon X program is the same reason as the comic books (In The comic books Logan is abducted) – The Process of Wolverine accepting the ‘Adamantium’ metal to his bones is the centerpiece of this film, it is the most important part of the film, and as far as I am concerned you can toss the whole film and leave the process.
The filmmaker needed to take the threads that had been woven in the first 3 X-Men films and give us a start point… Where did the Adamantium metal come from, what Stryker wanted to do with it, and why, all of these questions are explored in this film and as a fan of the comic book series, and also a fan of films in general, I accept the questions, answers and the way it was filmed unequivocally.
I know I enjoyed this film highly, and so did the large amount of people I saw this with, this film got a lot of crown response.
And so, I say the critics and paid shills that are panning this film can go to blazes and I hope that someone does to them what Wolverine does to ‘Deadpool/Wade Wilson’ at the end of the film – And you’ll have to go see it to find out what he does. Oh, look the shills popped up and marked my post as ‘not helpful’ – Which means nothing except that someone is using a bunch of fake IDs

“Collateral Damage” Movie Review
“Collateral Damage” Plot Summary
After his family is killed by a terrorist act, a firefighter goes in search of the one responsible. add synopsis
I liked it because the terrorists were so evil…
so how can one not like seeing them get their butt kicked by a one man wrecking machine. Arnie is back, as a revenge seeking firefighter. This flick is much better than his last couple of films. His acting is OK, but some line deliveries are laughable. His face appears tighter than an army private’s bunk bed. Who says you have to age in Hollywood!(SPOILERS): My favorite scene is where the wolf forces a snake down his own man’s throat as punishment. It looked painful. Eek! I also liked the scene where Arnie sets a granade to go off but the wolf escapes because he hears Arnie yelling to the woman and child to get down. I knew the woman/wife would end up being just as evil because she wouldn’t be married to a terrorist if she didn’t support his actions and beliefs
Of course, it is unrealistic that one man could take over a guerilla camp when the whole USA operatives couldn’t do anything about it. But what I didn’t like was the scene toward the end when Arnie sets this huge fireball off in the tunnel and 2 people on a motorcycle are swallowed by the explosion and survive. That was so unbelieveable. Arnie takes care of the wife and terrorist. But, he should have killed the terrorist in a more painful way because the scum deserved that.(END OF SPOILERS)FINAL VERDICT): This is your average action flick. There was nothing spectacular that would make me want to see it again. I recommend it if you are a big action fan.
