“Public Enemies” Movie Review
“Public Enemies” Plot Summary
The Feds try to take down notorious American gangsters John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd during a booming crime wave in the 1930s.
One of the best movies of 2009
I am a big Michael Mann film, Heat & Collatoral are amazing films and I feel that Mann delivered the goods big time in Public Enemies
Public Enemies is the story of the Depression Era bank robber John Dillinger (played by the charming Johnny Depp) who leads the FBI on a cat mouse chase. J. Edgar Hoover (played by Billy Crudup), the director of the FBI, orders Melvin Purvis (played by Christian Bale) to hunt down John Dillinger and his gang. With the FBI hot on his tail, Dillinger still manages to pick up a girl he likes in Billie Frechette (played by Marion Cottliard).
This movie is very entertaining and mesmerizing, it may have started out slow for the first third, but during the last 2/3′rds of the film this movie picked up. Mann is a expert craftsman, he gets you to fall in love with John Dillinger, yet he gets you to feel sympathetic for Melvin Purvis, who was given a practically impossible task
This movie is highlighted by the stunning cinematography that Mann is known for, as well as the action scenes such as the Little Bohmia shootout and the Dillinger jail break and others
I honestly could see Billy Crudup getting an Oscar nod for this movie, because his Hoover was a scene stealer, and maybe Johnny Depp. Bale as always plays a great straight man like in much of movies to counteract the eccentric leading man (i.e. 3:10 to Yuma, The Dark Knight). Cotiliard is also solid as Billie, and the times when she hits her mark, she REALLY hits it and gets the audience behind her
This is by far the best and most intelligent movie to come out in the summer of 2009. I recommend that most people buy the Blu-Ray/DVD because they will not be disappointed. No one in Hollywood does high octane crime dramas as well as Michael Mann.

Wonderful comedy, unmissable!
I absolutely loved Miss Congeniality, it was funny warm and completely likable. The best aspect was the charming and funny performance of the underrated Sandra Bullock as Gracie, in possibly her best role. Gracie is a beautiful woman, but her behaviour like the pig snorting isn’t very typical of women. She is excellently supported by a witty, side splittingly funny script, and some lovely camera-work. (the painting scene was priceless)Not to mention the original plot that never marred the feel good nature of the film. The performances of Michael Caine and Candice Bergen were excellent. But if I had one minor criticism, it would be that William Shatner slightly overplayed his part of Stan, other than that it is a comedy you just don’t want to miss. 9.5/10 Bethany Cox.

A Good Thriller.
Dragonfly was a good thriller movie and was very well written. Kevin Costner and Kathy Bates were good. The movie did bore you a little at times, but in the ending the story picks up and flows greatly. The movie is about Joe (Kevin Costner), a doctor whose wife dies in a bus accident in a foreign country while working for the Red Cross
When she dies, Joe is devastated, and works overtime at the hospital, and is uncomfortable staying at his own house with his wife’s menacing bird. But then, Joe finds that children dying at the hospital have seen his wife when they are near death, like a young boy named Jeffrey who is at the hospital for cancer. Now, Joe must find what his wife wants him to find. This movie was interesting and good. I give Dragonfly a 9 out of 10. :)

One of Sandler’s funniest
Adam Sandler really began to peak in the 1990’s after he hit it big on SNL. He quickly was pushed into Going Overboard in 1989, which wasn’t terrible but wasn’t good either. Then he began to receive more work throughout then while people seemed to have a feel for him and he became well known, sort of how Seth Rogen is coming into his own now. Sandler really is well known for just playing a normal guy with such a short fuse that ends up getting into a major crisis. If you don’t believe me then watch this movie. It can be touching at moments and tear jerking for some of you out there, but for the most part this is a Sandler comedy that you don’t want to pass by.

Absolutely positive:)
I’ve seen this film for about 5 times and I still laugh every time I see it. It’s not the usual Cake-in-the-face humor, but it’s somewhat more sophisticated, and with a bit of sarcasm, I pretty much does the trick. From the beginning to the end, it was a very enjoyable bit, and if it comes again, then I’ll probably watch it. The actors were quite nice in their parts, and the animals fitted into the picture, too. If I had to find anything not-so-good about the movie, it would probably be the computer graphics, but otherwise the scenery was beautiful. The whole film was positive. It was quite naive, but in a sweet kind of way:)

“Knocked Up” Plot Summary
For fun loving party animal Ben Stone, the last thing he ever expected was for his one night stand to show up on his doorstep eight weeks later to tell him she’s pregnant.
Funny
‘Knocked-Up’ was far better than I had hoped. I was not impress with the ‘40 Year-Old Virgin’ or ‘Superbad’ which were crass and uninspiring. ‘Knocked-Up’ in stark contrast still maintains the adolescence humor of ‘40 Year-Old Virgin’ or ‘Superbad’ but is far more intelligent and witty, bordering at times on comedic brilliance. It is also able to match the comedy with a sincere thread throughout, which is hard to achieve. Seth Rogen is great as the expectant father, I am unsure how much of the script was improvised but there were many moments of laugh-out-loud originality, the whole cast delivers on the acting front. At times the jokes can be a little too crude, but overall they are well managed. Special mention to the scene in the Las Vegas hotel between Rogen and Paul Rudd, high on mushrooms their interplay is spot-on and it is moments like this which make it memorable
The one criticism I do have is the last 30 minutes, the gags do not seem to work as well due to the more serious tone, and the film lumbers a little. I respect that the film wanted to make an emotional punch at the end but it dallied a little too long.’Knocked-Up’ is an enjoyable film and I recommend that you make an effort to watch it.

“The 40 Year Old Virgin” Plot Summary
Goaded by his buddies, a nerdy guy who’s never “done the deed” only finds the pressure mounting when he meets a single mother.
The funniest comedy since ‘THERE’S SOMETHING ABOUT MARY’ ; Steve Carell is a comic genius – the year’s funniest film!
THE 40 YEAR-OLD VIRGIN (2005) **** Steve Carell, Catherine Keener, Paul Rudd, Romany Malco, Seth Rogen, Elizabeth Banks, Leslie Mann, Jane Lynch, Gerry Bednob, Shelley Malil, Kat Dennings. Hysterically funny high-concept comedy about the titular Andy Stitzer (wonderfully played by perennial second banana Carell in a truly extraordinarily comic breakthrough performance sure to stratosphere him to the A-list), a tech services rep for an electronics store in Southern California who is found out about his secretive identity by a trio of well-meaning yet entirely clueless womanizing co-worker buddies (Rudd, Malco & Rogen, each one degree funnier than the next) determined to get their friend deflowered no matter the cost. What follows is an unlikely yet very warm-hearted romance with a vivacious mother (the marvelous Keener having lots of fun here) leading to add more fuel to the fires within Andy. A surprisingly good-spirited and unapologetically raunchy romantic comedy; the funniest since ‘There’s Something About Mary’ with a shrewdly observant script by director Judd Apatow and Carell that features some astoundingly gut-busting sequences including a scathingly accurate David Caruso joke, homophobic debunking ribbing, send-ups of ‘date-a-paloozas’ and demystifying the war of the sexes with cheeky aplomb. A true winner and an instant classic; the funniest film of the year.

“Almost Famous” Plot Summary
A high-school boy is given the chance to write a story for Rolling Stone Magazine about an up-and-coming rock band as he accompanies it on their concert tour.
Probably the best drama I have ever seen
As musical dramas go, this is definitely one of the better; not to say the best. It has a lot of acting talent going for it too; Jason Lee, Anna Paquin, Kate Hudson, Noah Taylor etc. Pretty much every major character is played by a talented actor/actress. The story revolves around a kid, named William Miller, who always seem somewhat outcast. He gets a lucky shot when he is offered to interview his favorite band and follow them on their tour. He starts out trying hard to interview them, but quickly finds out it’s hard enough just trying to keep up with the band. He meets a girl, a groupie who doesn’t admit to being a groupie, and falls in love with her. This is a great movie about the environment of the music of the mid-sixties. A very insightful look into the world of groupies, drugs and rock’n roll. This movie is worth watching for most fans of sixties rock’n roll, people looking to find out more about the environment, or just fans of Cameron Crowe. I gave it a 10/10, and most people will probably find it equally good.

My Favorite 90’s movie!
Well in my opinion one of my favorite movies ever. The humor is 90’s and a lot of people don’t like that. I grew up with this movie, and I loved it ever since. Jim Carey is my favorite actor, and to see him so dark and creepy just makes me like him even more. His performance was outstanding. I do recommend this to anyone who loves Jim Carey, 90’s, and great twist. This movie also includes an outstanding cast that we still see today such as Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller. This movie is just too awesome, I don’t know why the critics didn’t like it, but this movie just was not marketed well like it should have. Everyone in the movie was outstanding and I just wish this movie got more because it was very good and 90’s. Just watch the movie, you might not like the humor but you will love the story and movie!

“Serpico” Movie Review
“Serpico” Plot Summary
The true story about an honest New York cop who blew the whistle on rampant corruption in the force only to have his comrades turn against him.
Fine job.
One can’t know what the director, Sidney Lumet, was aiming for — a commercial success probably — but he achieved more than that. Frank Serpico wasn’t a hippy. He disapproved of marijuana because it was illegal. And his face was pock-marked and he wasn’t as handsome as Al Pacino. But he was in his way equally saintly
First of all, what a picture of New York City, in all its grime and without any splendor. There’s the Williamsberg Bridge (I think) and not much else in the way of landmarks. Nobody eats at Lutece. The whole place is thoroughly louche
The acting, with the exception of Tony Roberts, is superior
And — maybe this hit me differently — it seems to be a movie about police corruption, and of course it is, but it’s more than that. The most moving part of the film is a subtext dealing with loneliness. Frank Serpico loses everything, beginning with his girl friend, up to and including his position on the police force. In the lingo of sociometry he’d be a social isolate. Nobody wants to have anything to do with him, except perhaps his family of whom we see little, or maybe an impotent friend who has Princetonian connections in the mayor’s office
Oh, it’s tough to squeal on your comrades. We all know that. And Serpico suffers in the most saintly way, torn between loyalties to the group to which he belong and the greater values that inform (or are supposed to inform) our society. But what MAKES everything so difficult is that your best friends come to distrust and dislike you
All of us root for Serpico’s triumph. We want the NYPD to be cleaned out. (Is it?) But who among us would throw away the casual but still meaningful bonds that we make at work? Would you? I don’t know if I would. That, it seems to me, is the principal theme of this movie. Police corruption is the MacGuffin.
