“Whole Ten Yards” Movie Review

“Whole 10 Yards” Plot Summary

Jimmy the Tulip’s (Willis) quiet new life is shaken up by his old pal Oz (Perry), whose wife (Henstridge) has been kidnapped by a Hungarian mob. The Tulip and his wife Jill (Peet) spring into action. add synopsis

I loved it!!

I loved this movie. I don’t care what others say, I think this is a fantastic movie. Sure, it may not be as good as the original, but tell me, how many sequels are really as good as the original?? The originals are always the best, because they set the scene for everything, they introduce everything, and in comedies, are actually normally a lot funnier than the sequels. In action movies, they normally have more action in them, take Bourne Identity for example, excellent movie, sequel was alright but not as good, there was less action and more talking! Matthew Perry did fall over a bit too much though. In one movie you can only fall over or crash into stuff so many times, but in this movie that may have been overused. But what matters is the comedy that is in this movie, even if some people don’t see it or understand it. The mere fact that Jimmy is wearing an apron and head scarf is hilarious! Just because he’s constantly pulling gun on Jill doesn’t mean the movie has no story, it just shows that Jimmy is still a tough hitter as he was when when he wasn’t ‘dead’.

The thing that I find annoying is that they make it so that Oz has no idea what’s going on- again!! It’s like he shouldn’t even be married to Cynthia ’cause he never has any idea what she’s talking about when she’s talking to Jimmy and/or Jill. Also, what’s with Yanni’s father being Jimmy’s dad as well?! What’s up with that? I mean, sure, it kinda fits, what with Jimmy’s occupation and attitude, but wasn’t it him and Yanni who were trying to kill him?! And, don’t the mafia classify their family as the most important thing to them apart from themselves and certain other members of the mafia??

The cast still work together terrifically, and together make it a great movie. The original is still way better than the sequel, but like I’ve already said, what original isn’t better than a sequel?! I don’t care what others think, I reckon that this movie is terrific and I would totally recommend it to anyone who’s not sure about whether or not to see it.

“3000 Miles to Graceland” Movie Review

“3000 Miles to Graceland” Plot Summary

A gang of ex-cons rob a casino during Elvis convention week. add synopsis

one of the BEST action movies ever

After watching the trailer, I thought it would be a funny movie, a bit stupid but funny (Costner and Russell as Elvis impersonators are hilarious). What a surprise! What I finally saw is one of the best action movies I’ve seen in a long time. It even has a plot you can follow, doesn’t need bloody guts and severed body parts to be shown in close-up. It is ‘just’ a film about bank robbers, that decided to rob a casino, ‘because everybody else robs banks’. There is a huge shootout and security guards and innocent bystanders drop dead by the dozen. The rivalry between the robbers evolves and finally leads (through some twists)to the showdown between Costner / Russell / dozens of law enforcers. The way Costner portraits the lunatic (actually believing himself to be one of Elvis’ illegitimate children)is just fantastic and worth watching the movie. Russell is also wonderful to watch, as the ex-con who just wants to get enough money to settle down on his boat (nice twist there)and who doesn’t share the enthusiasm of the others for killing. Even Cox as the ‘woman in the middle’ shows a surprisingly good performance. Admittedly, you don’t have to switch on your brain to understand it, but it is really cool to watch, funny and entertaining. If you don’t want to spend any money on a theater ticket, get it on DVD – it’s worth it.

“A Few Good Men” Movie Review

“A Few Good Men” Plot Summary

Neo military lawyer Kaffee defends Marines accused of murder; they contend they were acting under orders. add synopsis

    Really deep, insightful movie

I started watching this movie with no great expectations. I was bored, to say the least, and it just happened to be showing on the channel I was watching. When I saw the opening credits and names like Tom Cruise, Demi Moore, Jack Nicholson and Kiefer Sutherland showed up, my interest was piqued and I started watching this film in the hopes that these great actors would deliver. And they definitely did. This was a courtroom drama, but it was also about the marine corps. It was an enthralling movie, and really got you engrossed and wondering, ‘Are they telling the truth?, Are they going to go to jail?’ etc etc. The high points of the movie for me were the private accused of murder (I can’t remember his name now) and the way he was devoted to his superior, Hal. I also enjoyed the sexual tension between Tom Cruise and Demi Moore, and would have enjoyed to see it developed a bit more in this movie. However, the ULTIMATE thought-provoker/tear-jerking scene was one of the last, when the accused are pronounced NOT GUILTY on counts of murder but GUILTY on counts of behaviour unfit for a Marine (or something like that). Then the private says, ‘Hal, (Jack Nicholson) said he ordered a code red, we didn’t do anything wrong!’ and Harold says ‘We were supposed to be fighting for those who can’t fight for themselves. We should’ve fought for Willy.’ ANd he walks out of the courtroom with his head high. This simply goes to show that principle, rules can only take you so far, but conscience, right and wrong, are what we ultimately have to deal with. Wonderful movie, I will not soon forget it.

    “Whole 9 Yards” Plot Summary

Nick is a struggling dentist in Canada. A new neighbor moves in, and he discovers that it is Jimmy “The Tulip” Teduski. His wife convinces him to go to Chicago and inform the mob boss who wants Jimmy dead.

    The Best!!!

This is one (if not the one) of my favorite movies.

I just loved it, it has an excellent plot, perfect acting from most of the actors, specially Matthew Perry… and it’s just great when you can find a movie nowadays where you can’t predict the ending cause everything is possible to happen.

    It’s very funny

    It’s enjoyable

It’s a pleasure to watch, alone or even better with friends

You’re gonna be in for a real treat…

Although, if you like this one, don’t get your hopes up too high… Cause the second one ‘The Whole Ten Yards’, is faaaaaar from this good.

Hope you like this movie as much as I did

Scott Calvin has been a humble Santa Claus for nearly ten years, but it might come to an end if he doesn’t find a Mrs. Claus.

    This movie was great!

***** spoilers ahead! *****This movie had me laughing and moved me almost to tears a couple of times. There are some who have not given this movie a good review, don’t listen to them. Tim Allen was great, his co-star (what’s her name?) was great. This was an excellent feel good movie for the holidays. I liked it better than the first one. The thing with the reindeer talking by making noises was very funny. I also liked the parts with the other characters from legend… Mother nature, Tooth Fairy, Father Time etc. Go see this movie, you will not be wasting your time.

    “Deep Blue Sea” Plot Summary

Searching for a cure to Alzheimer’s disease a group of scientists on an isolated research facility become the bait as a trio of intelligent sharks fight back. add synopsis

    A survivalist’s dream!

A team of doctors, scientists and other professionals are sent to a remote research facility to study sharks in the hopes of finding a cure for Alzheimer’s disease. But the Bio-engineered sharks soon use their newly acquired intelligence to try and outsmart their human counterparts. One by one the team, a cast that includes Michael Rapaport, LL Cool J, Samuel L Jackson, Saffron Burrows amongst others, begin to be eliminated one by one as a struggle for survival begins when the sharks sabotage the facility by causing it to deliberately flood so that they (the sharks) can escape into the open sea. I thoroughly enjoyed the suspense and thriller aspects of the film, it wasn’t too gory (compared to some other films) but the script as well as certain situations were very annoying and not to mention predictable.

    “Hostage” Movie Review

    “Hostage” Plot Summary

A failed police negotiator turned small town cop, must save the lives of a family held hostage, which draws him into a much more dangerous situation.

    Bruce is BACK!!!

There will be no negotiation, Bruce Willis is back, back doing what he was born to do – run around looking worried whilst stylishly blowing baddies away and I for one am very happy!! Ever since Die Hard (incidentally my favourite film), Bruce Willis has been the ‘everyman’ action hero of choice. If you’re in a jam with serious bad-ass criminals, be it robbers, assassins or even intergalactic tyrants he’s the ‘the guy’ you’ll want on your side. So if you’re family were ever to be taken hostage by scumbags and it looked like gun play would be necessary, Bruce should be the only call you make.

So here’s Hostage, the first English language film of hotshot French director Florent Siri. You might not have seen his last film ‘The Nest’ – it was a tense action thriller that covered similar themes (fear, mental suffering, empathy, cowardice). Anyway, Hostage is another deliciously dark tale of crime and retribution – you know how it goes – dumb but dangerous kids take family hostage, then realise that they may have gotten over their heads when it turns out that the dad is actually the accountant for a seriously shady bunch of crims. Bruce plays local Sheriff Jeff Talley who used to be a hostage negotiator but was dismissed for letting a young family get butchered by one of the kidnappers he failed to ‘talk down’.

Things get more complicated when the shady crims take Talley’s family hostage and force him to try and retrieve something from the under siege house. It’s a good set up but it wouldn’t have worked as just a standard Hollywood ‘production line’ action film. This is why Siri is directing – he’s definitely ‘one to watch’ because he lovingly creates a film that oozes style, brutal violence and has characters that you can’t help finding interesting.

Credit should go to most of the cast too, Foster delivers an iconic teen psycho, 17 year old Michelle Horn lives up to her name as the daughter in peril and Kevin ‘voice actor from Ewoks: The Battle for Endor’ Pollak is good as the dad.

But this is Bruce’s film and he should be proud of it, he should also work with Siri again if he gets chance as the guy is quality and I can’t wait to see what he does next!!
