    “The Last Samurai” Movie Review

    “The Last Samurai” Plot Summary

An American military advisor embraces the Samurai culture he was hired to destroy after he is captured in battle.

    Laughable

Well, during all the movie Samurais are depicted as a warriors’ elite that studied and practised the art of war for centuries. Nevertheless we see that it’s very easy for an American alcoholic to equal them in the art of katana handling in just some months of training (this samurais must be dumb, as they practise katana since they are children !!). What about tactics ? After centuries of continuous warfare, they need a foreigner to teach them to feign a retreat and then to counterattack. And what about the final scene in which the captain arrives just when the pact is being signed and the Emperor changes idea ? I laughed to tears. I thought The Gladiator was unrivalled, but Hollywood never cease to amaze me. I’ll seek comfort in Kagemusha or Gohatto.

    “Batman Begins” Movie Review

    “Batman Begins” Plot Summary

The story of how Bruce Wayne became what he was destined to be: Batman.

    Excellent Batman

‘Batman Begins’ is certainly the best among the five movies of this great hero released in the theaters. After 1776 reviews in IMDb, I do not know what I can write that have not been written before. In my opinion, this film begins wonderful with the director, Christopher Nolan, of the fantastic ‘Memento’, one of my favorite movies. The cast is a constellation, composed of excellent actors and actress: Christian Bale is awesome in the role of the troubled and confused Bruce Wayne; Michael Caine, as Alfred, elegant, gentle and tough, is also perfect; Cillian Murphy, Liam Neeson, Tom Wilkinson, Hutger Hauer are very evil bad guys; Katie Holmes, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman complete this lovely cast. The special effects are very good, and the cinematography recalls ‘Blade Runner’, with rainy and dark locations. The story explains the origins of Batman since his childhood in Gotham City. The soundtrack fits perfectly to the scenes. It is amazing to see that there are bad reviews of this movie, which is a very above average entertainment. My vote is nine

“Letters from Iwo Jima” Movie Review

“Letters from Iwo Jima” Plot Summary

The story of the battle of Iwo Jima between the United States and Imperial Japan during World War II, as told from the perspective of the Japanese who fought it.

    A totally unforgettable movie experience.

This is quite simply one of the best movies i have ever seen. It left me speechless and in tears. A genuine masterpiece, beautifully shot, beautifully cast, wonderfully acted. There’s not much more I can say right now, but I urge you most strongly NOT to miss this movie. Eastwood’s direction is impeccable; he quietly and unerringly leads us through the developing crisis of the American assault on the island, and the desperate Japanese defence. There are so many fine performances here, so many unforgettable moments. A measure of the quality of Eastwood’s direction is that although the dialogue is almost entirely Japanese supported by English sub-titles, by the end of the film I had entirely ceased to be aware of that fact. This is a really wonderful film; please don’t miss it.

“Gremlins 2: The New Batch” Movie Review

    “Gremlins 2″ Plot Summary

The Gremlins are back, and this time, they’ve taken total control over the building of a media mogul. add synopsis

One of my favorite films. ***** out of 5

This here is Joe Dante’s best film. It’s a delightful and absolutely charming dark comedy. I begged my mom to take me to see this back in 1990 and thankfully I can say I saw this on the big screen

Years later when I watch it, I can catch all of the little references and nods to other great films of the past. The Warner Brothers Looney Tune cartoons have obviously made an impact on the directorial style of Joe Dante. What’s great is the combination of this type of humor blended with these devious little monsters wrecking havoc in the Clamp Building. Speaking of Clamp, John Glover was excellent as Daniel Clamp (a parody of Donald Trump). He’s absolutely hilarious! There are many terrific special effects and sequences in the film. It’s hard to tell you which scene is my favorite because I adore every moment of the film. I will say one of the scenes that sticks out for me is when the Bat Gremlin flies out into New York City by day. I just love those excellent shots of him flying through the sky. Of course, the Brain Gremlin and the ‘New York, New York’ number is fantastic as well. ‘Is eeeverybody heere?’ And who could forget when the Gremlins got their revenge for Leonard Maltin’s lambasting of the first Gremlins movie? All this is accompanied by a fantastic Jerry Goldsmith score (which happens to be one of my favorites of his as well). The collaboration between Goldsmith and Dante isn’t unlike that of Hitchcock and Herrmann or Spielberg and Williams

The film abounds with dark jollity and watching it you can tell that the filmmakers had a fun time making the picture. To include the audience as part of the goings on, is a real treat

Out of all the thousands of films I have seen, none have been or ever will be more entertaining than Gremlins 2.

    I LOVE it.
