“Transformers” 2007 by Michael Bay – Movie Review
If you think that good battle-robots Autobots and bad battle-robots Decepticons have landed on our dearest planet Earth in 2007 – you’re strongly mistaken. Because they came to our world in the times of the notorious Moscow Olympiad-80, when suddenly bubble-gum and coca-cola appeared in Moscow for the first time. Although the robots landed not in Moscow but in Japan. That is where these amusing robots-transformers were invented. They were the models of different automobiles which then could be transformed into battle robots.
The American toy company Hasbro got interested in these toys and bought the rights to produce them in the US. Interested in the American toy company Hasbro, and then bought the rights to their production in the States. Due to the fact that they approach marketing in the USA with all the possible seriousness. That’s why these nameless by the time auto-robots received their personal names. Which is more, they received a whole history explaining which planet they came form and what they do here. Well, and thirdly, the whole comics industry started hard work on creating the epci story of the planet Cybertrone on which the good robots Autobots under the leadership of brave General Optimus Prime (originally it was Prime Time but later reduced to simply Prime) are fighting against the bad robots Decepticons headed by an treacherous Megatron.
Thus, everyone was happy: Hasbro sold megatons of transformers, the Marvel company produced mountains of comics, and Sunbow Production crafted animated cartoons about the adventures of elusive Autobots behind the Decepticons’ enemy line. In the end Sunbow even produced full-length animated film “Transformers” in which Autobots and Decepticons arrive on Earth and start all kinds of battles, while a guy named Spike is helping our folks Autobots. But the movie was a failure. Why? Either due to the fact that there were too many robots and too few people, or due to the fact that the kids already got fed up with transformers – it is hard to say. After that the Transformers have almost disappeared – people lost interested in them. The new type of heroes has settled in the kids’ hearts – Spiderman, Pokemons and the like, resulting in the transformers being forgotten in the far corners of dusty garages. Nobody was interested in the fate of the planet Cybertron anymore.

However, in the mid-nineties Hasbro managed to revive the interest in the transformers. They invented a new concept: robots can now be transformed into animals. After that when the creators imagination started to blossom with new models, the kids’ interest woke up again, resulting in creating fan-communities which could fiercely argue upon which transformer is more cool – a hamster/crocodile or eagle/ram type.

“Blade: Trinity” Movie Review
“Blade III” Plot Summary
Blade, now a wanted man by the FBI, must join forces with the Nightstalkers to face his most challenging enemy yet: Dracula
Blade: Trinity!
Blade: Trinity is a very good film that has a good cast which includes Wesley Snipes, Kris Kristofferson, Dominic Purcell, Jessica Biel, Ryan Reynolds, Parker Posey, Mark Berry, John Michael Higgins, Callum Keith Rennie, Paul Michael Levesque, Paul Anthony, Francoise Yip, Michael Rawlins, James Remar, Natasha Lyonne, Haili Page, Patton Oswalt, Ron Selmour, Christopher Heyerdahl, and Eric Bogosian! The acting by all of these actors is very good. Snipes is really excellent in this film. I thought that he performed good as usual. Purcell really surprised Me! I hope he’ll be in some more action and horror pictures in the future. Biel was really terrific here. I was really amazed by her performance. I would like to see her in more action films as well. Reynolds was good. Posey and Lyonne were really good. I was surprised that Paul Michael Levesque AKA WWE’s HHH or Hunter Hearst Helmsley was in this film. Having followed his WCW days as Terra Ryzing until recently it was wired to see another top wrestling is a big budget film. To Me he actually was pretty good and quite hilarious. I think in the future if he decides to be in more movies that he’ll play very good characters and even in leading roles like fellow wrestlers The Rock and Hulk Hogan. Remar and Bogosian were very good as well. There are a few scenes that I thought were cool. The interview Bogosian did was really cool. The fight scenes in the very beginning were also very cool. I loved the police station scenes and how Snipes says Vampires exist and gives the scare to the shrink! Also cool camera following Blade in the police station as well! Just awesome! The thrills and action is really good and some of it is surprising. The Dracula character was really remarkable. In his monster form he reminded Me a lot of Imhotep from the MuMmy and the MuMmy Returns! The special effects are great! The movie is filmed very good. The music is great by Ramin Djawadi and The RZA. Great directing by David S. Goyer. The film is quite interesting and the movie really keeps you going until the end. This is a very good and thrilling film. If you like Wesley Snipes, Kris Kristofferson, Dominic Purcell, Jessica Biel, Ryan Reynolds, Parker Posey, Mark Berry, John Michael Higgins, Callum Keith Rennie, Paul Michael Levesque (WWE’s HHH), James Remar, Natasha Lyonne, Eric Bogosian, the rest of the cast in the film, The other Blade movies, Horror, Action, Adventure, Thrillers, Fantasy, Comic, and interesting films then I strongly recommend you to see this film today! Movie Nuttball’s NOTE: On the second DVD in the Blade: Trinity case there is a special nearly two hour making of the third Blade movie. It shows how the music, special effects, fighting, sound, and everything else was done by the actors and crew. Biel and Reynolds talk about a possible spin off movie called ‘The Nightstalkers’. I wouldn’t mind that and I certainly wouldn’t mind another Blade film. In one of the other segments Jessica Biel talks about how hard she had to train and how difficult it was. She done her very best to make you happy. Snipes and Purcell fought the fight you wanted! The director tried to make this the most explosive vampire film ever seen for you and yet you people still complain! Thanks for reading!

“The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury” Plot Summary
This story opens with the new action hero and the two other survivors of Pitch Black already caught by a giant spaceship filled with dread… add synopsis
Great mini-movie, much better than the sequel
To anyone who has seen the excellent ‘The Matrix’ and its horrible sequels, this animated movie ‘Dark Fury’ is exactly the same as the ‘Last Flight Of The Osiris’ (short animation) for ‘The Matrix’.So, we have a great movie (‘Pitch Black’), and a very weak sequel (The Chronicles Of Riddick). But this little animated gem brings back our anti-hero in familiar territory: a great story (even though it’s short) and some great sci-fi ideas (the frozen ‘collection’ and the cyborg monster, for example).
If you liked Pitch Black it’s guaranteed you will like this one. It can also stand on its own (no need to see anything else, although you would get curious), which is always a good indication of brilliance.

“Marley and Me” Plot Summary
A family learns important life lessons from their adorable, but naughty and neurotic dog.
Best film of the holiday season
Short-attention-span synopsis: Best film of the holiday season
Marley & Me (PG, 2:00) 9I felt bad having to deliver the news to my fellow fans about what a poor crop of SF&F films we have to pick from this holiday season, so let me make it up to you by giving a totally unqualified recommendation for Marley & Me! It’s not science fiction. Heck, it’s barely fiction at all, since it’s drawn from the real-life experiences of newspaper columnist John Grogan, his wife Jen, their kids, and their yellow labrador retriever, Marley, ‘the worst dog in the world’.I do some database work for the Wisconsin Academy of Graduate Service Dogs, and I have to say that Marley would have washed out of the academy in 15 minutes. He’d be a terrible service dog, but he makes a wonderful friend
This film is utterly realistic. It never strikes a forced or false note. There are lots of laffs, but they all arise organically out of real life. John and Jen are good, decent people (like virtually all Americans), and they behave naturally, without any visible ‘acting’. It’s a little slice of Americana. If a big-budget spectacular like Benjamin Button had been able to muster a quarter of the heart of this modest film, they’d already be rolling Oscar’s red carpet up to its front door.’I'd like to be the man my dog thinks I am.’ — Mike McGuire, songwriter

“Coraline & The Secret Door” Plot Summary
An adventurous girl finds another world that is a strangely idealized version of her frustrating home, but it has sinister secrets.
Wonderfully animated; basically a ‘modern’ fairy tale…
If you like fairy tales, you will love this movie. This film has everything: story, funny characters, entertaining dialog, good scenes, beautiful animation and a nice moral
I loved Coraline. It’s a very kind, but also mysterious movie about a young girl who, by pure curiosity, travels to a parallel dimension of her house. There she meets her ‘other mother’ and ‘other father’. Everything is fantastic and everyone seems so nice. However, after awhile it becomes clear that a dark power is trying to lure Coraline away from her real family…There’s so much to tell about this movie, but I think it’s best that you go watch it yourself, before I spoil too much. Coraline is truly a wonderfully animated gem. It’s a movie you will watch again and again over the years, maybe as an annual tradition! 9 out of 10 stars!

“Men of Honor” Plot Summary
The story of Carl Brashear, the first African American, then also the first amputee, US Navy Diver and the man who trained him.
Pretty Good Film!
I think that this film is a good movie. There are some boring parts and some really good parts. Most of the time, I was attached to this movie. Everyone in this movie did a really good job
This film is based on the life of Carl Brashear. He was going to be first at two things. He was going to be the first black Navy diver and the first diver to dive with a prosthetic leg
The acting is really good. I liked Robert De Niro so much. He is a truly deserving actor and he showed what a great actor he is. I liked Cuba Gooding Jr. as Brashear. He gave a memorable performance
Overall, this film is a good movie. Some parts even moved me somewhat especially some scenes towards the end. This is a nice biographical movie. I rate this film 8/10.

“The Princess and the Frog” Movie Review
“The Princess and the Frog” Plot Summary
A fairy tale set in Jazz Age-era New Orleans and centered on a young girl named Princess Tiana and her fateful kiss with a frog prince who desperately wants to be human again.
By Jove…it’s actually GOOD!
I’ve said my share of disparaging words against the Walt Disney Company, and let’s face it; they’ve put out more than their share of garbage over the years. It seems as if Pixar has been pulling their dead weight for the past decade as they’ve put out offensively bad DTV releases and pumping their money and resources into their sub par T.V. station and musical acts (though I will say that Lilo and Stitch, as well as The Emperor’s New Groove, which I consider to be one of Disney’s funniest releases). Yes, it seemed that all hope was lost for the Mouse and that anything original and thought provoking associated with the Disney name would have that cute little bouncing lamp right along side
Imagine my surprise when I saw The Princess and the Frog yesterday. Surprise nothing! I nearly went into a shock induced coma. This was a brilliant film, something truly worthy of Uncle Walt’s iconic signature. This film had all the makings of a Disney classic: great story, great characters, great music, and of course, great art
One thing I always give the Walt Disney Co. credit for is their masterful art work in their features, even the less than stellar ones. This has, especially, been the case the past 20-25 years. Some of the same artists that worked on the more recent classics like The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast worked on Princess and the Frog. I was told after the film that the same man that drew Belle (Randy Cartwright) drew for Tiana, and you can tell. The art in general in this movie is extremely impressive. Not only are all the characters well drawn, but the backgrounds are breath taking, very reminiscent of Hunchback of Notre Dame. They seem to take you into a painting of the location without losing it’s touch with reality. Also, the use of different art styles stood out, especially the ‘Almost There’ number, which was drawn mostly in the Art Deco style
Randy Newman’s score left the biggest impression on my after the film was over, though. I think this is the first time a Disney feature used, primarily, North American music styles like jazz, ragtime, southern gospel, and even zydeco. Of course, like any great Disney feature; Princess and the Frog had it’s signature musical number: the previously named ‘Almost There’. With a great tune, appropriate lyrics, and of course, the voice of Anika Noni Rose; I’m sure (and I hope) this will become another Disney standard. Unlike some Disney films, there wasn’t that dreadful ‘Oh dear merciful God, when is this going to end’ number. Every song was thought out, appropriate for it’s setting, and just…good. Kudos to Randy Newman, who will hopefully get an Oscar nomination (at least) for this film
Then, of course, there’s the high water mark for not only Disney movies, but for movies in general, especially animation films: characters and story. Movies can have an amazing score and even good animation, but if the story flops and if the characters are insufferable, then it’s going nowhere. This movie, thankfully, had neither problem. There was no character that you wish would just go get himself or herself bent. Everyone served his or her purpose in the movie
Like many of the newer Disney movies, The Princess and the Frog had a, well…Princess character that was blue collar and hard working
Tiana is young woman from the slums of New Orleans, whose sole purpose in life is to open up a successful restaurant serving authentic Louisiana cuisine. Of course, the man puts her down and she finds herself sunk. I will say that I’m VERY proud of Disney for not shoving the race issue down our throats and, at the same time, for not avoiding it all together. This was seen in the scene where the land lords of the building she’s looking to purchase
At the same time, a lazy hedonistic prince comes to New Orleans looking for a (Rich) bride since his monetary supply has been cut off by his parents. He sets his sights on a bona fide southern belle named Charlotte, Tiana’s foil and best friend. The Prince and his reluctant English servant (what prince would be complete without one) get sidetracked by a voodoo man/street performer named Dr. Facilier aka ‘The Shadow Man’, a slick deceitful crook with his own silhouette as a side kick (and yes, they are able to make it work). Dr. Facilier says both Prince Naveeh and Lawerence will get what they both desire most (money and a life without servitude, respectively). Louis is turned into the Prince (or at least, given his body) while Naveeh turns into…a smiley frog; which as we learn throughout the film is mucus
Naveeh meets Tiana after she changes clothes (and after her dreams of owning her own restaurant). Tiana, who is less than fond of frog, tries to kill our hero; but later finds out that this is a frog with a difference…he can talk. After Naveeh sees a copy of a print version of, appropriately enough, the Princess and the Frog, he asks Tiana (Who is wearing a tiara at the time) to kiss him, believing that she is, indeed, royalty herself; though he later finds out that she is a waitress. He promises that after she kisses him, something she is far from enthusiastic about, he will make her dream of owning her own restaurant a reality. Well, she does kiss him, but there’s a bit of a SNAFU: she turns into a frog herself. The two of them must find a way to become human again. Along the way, they meet a cavalcade of characters including a trumpet playing alligator (and yes, they are able to make it work somehow) and a Cajun firefly named Ray
The Princess and the Frog, a movie (I hope) that is destined for greatness.

“The Chronicles of Riddick: Pitch Black” Plot Summary
A group of marooned space travelers struggle for survival on a seemingly lifeless sun-scorched world.
Surprisingly good movie ;)
Pitch Black is a surprisingly good movie. I was not a fan of Vin diesel before I saw Pitch black, but after seeing Pitch Black my respect for Vin Diesel has gone up. He did a great job playing Riddick a man wanted for many murders. His character is cold and makes many decisions that surprised me, like near the end Riddick was going to get on the ship and save his own ass leaving everyone behind to die. I like this movie and how it deals with human instinct. This movie is low budget but this movie goes to show you don’t need amazing special effects and lots of money to make a good movie, I think all the characters made this movie. I give this movie 8 out of 10 ;)

“The X Files: I Want to Believe” Movie Review
“The X Files 2″ Plot Summary
Mulder and Scully are called back to duty by the FBI when a former priest claims to be receiving psychic visions pertaining to a kidnapped agent.
Good movie.
There is a difference in reviewing bad film-making as opposed to personal taste. Frankly, I argue this movie more from personal taste, although X-Files – I Want to Believe is certainly not bad film-making. In all honesty, I was very nervous about X-Files I Want to Believe. Ever since Star Wars the Phantom Menace, I have learned to lower my expectations when venturing into Hollywood movies (although lowering your expectations to nothing could not save the Star Wars Prequels). Nothing is worse than a huge let-down. Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull comes to mind the quickest. With X-Files, I Want to Believe, I went in with no expectations whatsoever and was thoroughly entertained. It made me pine for the old television series I loved to watch in the 1990’s (at least until Seasons 8 and 9). Dr. Dana Scully is working at a Catholic Hospital, fighting for a young boy who has little to no chance of surviving. She pushes herself hard, not giving up hope in the wake of despair. She fights for Alexander (the son she lost). The FBI comes to her, asking for help in tracking down Fox Mulder. They want his help in a baffling case. An FBI agent has disappeared. The only link is an unusual psychic. Not only does he have scant visions, he also is pedophile priest under house arrest. Of course, Mulder wants to believe this man. Scully, however, does not. This not only stems from her usual scientific mind, but also her moral outrage at his crimes. As this psychic leads them to various clues, a case slowly uncovers. Some strange, bizarre, twisted scheme of harvesting organs for nefarious purposes arises. Mulder of course ventures closer, putting himself in peril. Scully, balks, wondering if she can continue in Mulder’s dark world. Believe it or not, this one works. In fact, I liked it better than Fight the Future. While Fight the Future was inserted in the ongoing mythology of government conspiracies and alien extra-terrestrials, this one works more as a stand-alone movie, much like the episodes of the same flavor. I admit I liked the latter episodes better. So for the X-Philes who liked the conspiracy episodes better, you may want to stick to Fight the Future. That gets me to wonder if this movie will find new fans for the 15-year-old franchise, or only appeal to X-Philes. Only time can tell on that one. What makes this work for me, though, is that it is in the spirit of the original television series. It does not rely on paranoid delusions, government conspiracies, and alien extra-terrestrials. Instead, it relies more on a potentially dangerous and real situation with surrealism in the background. Just like some of the stand-alone episodes of X-Files, the outcome is not predictable. Also, by the end, the surrealism takes a back-seat to the suspense of catching the antagonists. It also unfolds slowly, not giving us a full glimpse into the nefarious plot finally revealed in the end. Just like the series, the antagonists goal is evil and eerie–pushing the envelope of imagination and fear. Just like the series, the plot is also based on real fringe scientific experiments. Both the movie, and the reality sent a shiver up my spine. By the way, leave the kids at home on this one. Kids younger than 11 or 10 might get some nightmares from this one. This paves the way for one thing X-Files television series did well: lacing messages of philosophy, religious allegory, and faith. Some of the best stuff comes when Fox and Dana converse with each other. Scully fears being with Mulder because his world brings around so much darkness, and she fears that. She also doubts her own faith. Mulder must ask himself questions in regards to his relentless search of the ‘truth.’ Another warning must go out that this movie is not an action movie. It works more like a thriller and a suspense movie instead of lacing itself with shootouts, car chases, and outlandish stunts. It also is not scary, but rather suspenseful. I think if Cris Carter were a better director, it might have found a little more suspense, and possibly a little more fright. That being said, I still think this movie works–at least for me.

“Is Anybody There?” Movie Review
“Is Anybody There?” Plot Summary
Set in 1980s seaside England, this is the story of Edward, an unusual ten year old boy growing up in an old people’s home run by his parents…
Caine at his most able
I heard this film was moving so I prepared myself for some spillage. Within ten minutes, I was teary – not hose-pipe teary – but I became aware that the tap of emotion was being slowly turned on by the gentle yet persistent hand of pathos. It was during the second scene, when Michael Caine’s eyes spewed forth the wretchedness of despair like an urn pours forth water, that I realised that this performance was Caine at his most able; I fumbled for my hanky and decided to ignore the prickle of anguish just for the privilege of seeing his performance
If Michael Caine was a piece of jewellery, he would be a 24-carat-gold antique ring encrusted with rubies, diamonds, sapphires and emeralds; each element perfectly contrasting with its neighbour; a unique mixture of the most precious and luminous stones; never losing their appeal yet probably taken a bit for granted; and only really appreciated by few
In this role, the subtle yet overwhelming brilliance of Caine’s portrayal of a man suffering with dementia allows all the dimensions of his talent to shine. This film is the jeweller and his cloth, and Caine is the multi-talented gemstone, in all his mournful glory, at the heart of it
There’s no denying that the story is grim. The characters are sad; there is death, decay and dementia in equal measure. It is a bleak yet compelling landscape. The background to the landscape is equally dreary. It’s the 80s in an unremarkable backwater outside Hull; the weather is dull; 90 per cent of the film is set in an old people’s home; our protagonist has dementia; and his best friend is obsessed with the afterlife (to the extent of recording the dying wheezes of the clients). Not really a crowd pleaser, eh? But believe it or not, this film has a lot of humour running through it. Okay, so it’s blacker than Newgate’s knocker but it’s there in spades. Caine’s best mate, Edward, a 10-year-old oddball is as compelling to watch as His Majesty as his hose-pipe gets turned on more than once, and very effectively indeed. He sensitively portrays a maudlin misfit not that dissimilar to the talent bud, Nicholas Hoult’s Marcus in ‘About a Boy’.This film is a really great example of British film-making at its finest – a good script and fine talent – nothing more nothing less. It is also a great reminder that a low budget does not mean you have to compromise on enjoyment. With this film, you get two superb beacons of light radiating out from a good support cast and a true-to-life story about the reality of old age and all the regret that can accompany it. Powerful stuff.
