” Alien Resurrection” 1997 by Jean-Pierre Jeunet – Movie Review

Sci-Fi thriller “Alien: Resurrection” finalizes the quadrilogy of cult series about Aliens. In “Alien 4″ we bid farewell to Ripley so wonderfully impersonated by Sigourney Weaver. The final victory is won and the aliens will never be able to cause irreparable damage to the Earth and endanger the existence of humankind.

“Alien: Resurrection” Plot Summary

Auriga Research Facility

Auriga Research Facility

Ripley is successfully cloned from the eighth attempt, and the alien embryo is given new life with her. The military seem to be not able to abandon the crazy unrealizable idea of taming the aliens, turning them into creatures under human control. They do not want to recognize that this lethal weapon could destroy human civilization forever. Nobody can manage to breed the aliens in captivity, neither did anybody manage to train them. In “Alien 4″ Ripley gets a second life, but cloning has caused an unexpected effect of hybridization. She is extremely strong, has a highly developed instincts. Her blood like the blood of Aliens is capable to burn through metal. She calls herself ‘mother of the monster” and has the ability to feel the presence of monsters. She became much colder and sober-minded than she was in her real life.

The criminal military officials’ plans extend so far that they are willing to pay the pirates for kidnapping. The live cargo is going to be a ‘farm’ for breeding these extremely ‘attractive’ creatures. But Aliens do not doze for an extra minute, they spend great time spreading inside the research center. Although Ripley is perceived by the scientists as the production waste, she and the female android Annalee Call (Winona Rider) are to save the humankind from the invasion of the terrible Aliens.

    “Batman Begins” Plot Summary

The story of how Bruce Wayne became what he was destined to be: Batman.

    Excellent Batman

‘Batman Begins’ is certainly the best among the five movies of this great hero released in the theaters. After 1776 reviews in IMDb, I do not know what I can write that have not been written before. In my opinion, this film begins wonderful with the director, Christopher Nolan, of the fantastic ‘Memento’, one of my favorite movies. The cast is a constellation, composed of excellent actors and actress: Christian Bale is awesome in the role of the troubled and confused Bruce Wayne; Michael Caine, as Alfred, elegant, gentle and tough, is also perfect; Cillian Murphy, Liam Neeson, Tom Wilkinson, Hutger Hauer are very evil bad guys; Katie Holmes, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman complete this lovely cast. The special effects are very good, and the cinematography recalls ‘Blade Runner’, with rainy and dark locations. The story explains the origins of Batman since his childhood in Gotham City. The soundtrack fits perfectly to the scenes. It is amazing to see that there are bad reviews of this movie, which is a very above average entertainment. My vote is nine

    “Aladdin” Plot Summary

Aladdin, a street urchin, accidentally meets Princess Jasmine, who is in the city undercover. They love each other, but she can only marry a prince.

Aladdin is my favorite movie of all time.

This is my favorite movie of all time. I have loved this movie since I saw it when it came out in 1992. I have watched it so many times, that I know all the words. I think this movie is great to watch with the kids. Or even if you don’t have kids. I own all three on DVD and VHS. It is the first movie my daughter saw. I think it is the best Disney movie ever made. I like all three, but the first is still my favorite one. it’s the original that sticks with you. the others may be good, but not as good as the first. I hope everyone can enjoy this movie. I think no matter how old you are, or no matter what you do, that there is always room for a good Disney movie.

“The Silence of the Lambs” Movie Review

“The Silence of the Lambs” Plot Summary

A young FBI cadet must confide in an incarcerated and manipulative killer to receive his help on catching another serial killer who skins his victims.

    It’s a classic!

There is little doubt that the most memorable aspect of The Silence of the Lambs is Anthony Hopkins’ incomparable performance as Lecter. Taking over for Brian Cox, who was effective, but not especially memorable, as the good doctor in 1986’s Manhunter, Hopkins instantly makes the role his own, capturing and conveying the charismatic essence of pure evil. To his dying day, no matter how many roles he plays in the interim, Hopkins will forever be known for this part. (It is a credit to Hopkins’ ability as an actor that this part did not result in stereotyping. His post-Silence career has been greatly varied, with roles as widely diverse as a stodgy butler in Merchant-Ivory’s The Remains of the Day and an action hero in The Edge.) I can throw out any number of superlatives, but none of them do justice to this chilling performance, which I labeled as the best acting work of the ’90s. Want to feel the icy fingers of terror stroke your heart? Watch this mixture of brilliant eloquence and inhuman cruelty. As portrayed by Hopkins, Hannibal is both a suave, cultured gentleman and an unspeakable fiend. He is gracious and monstrous at the same time. (Hopkins also provided one of the most quotable lines in recent film history with ‘I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti’, which was followed by an inimitable slithering slurp.)

    “The Contract” Plot Summary

Ray Keene, a father who wants to redeem himself in the eyes of his son, is trying to bring Carden, a world-class assassin to justice… add synopsis

    Entertaining

When I saw the rating of this movie of 5.6 stars I thought that this had to be a very bad and boring film to have such a rate despite having very good actors (Freeman and Cusack), but after watching it I liked this film which I found entertaining

This movie gets what it tries to achieves which is just being a 96 minutes entertaining action film nothing else. I liked the performances specially the one of Morgan Freeman who looks so cool like the killer Carden, and I liked the comments of his character too, John Cusack is very good as the nice man who cares a lot about his son

Ray and his son go camping to the forest but their plan changes when they find the injured killer Carden over there, and they will have to take him to the police despite Cardens friends are looking for him …7 stars = good

The Dark Knight —- Best Batman Movie Ever.

I have just come out of the ‘Dark Curtain’ Screening for The Dark Knight in Adelaide, and I’m blown away.

Nolan’s directing is sublime, the pacing of the movie was so well kept, managing to keep the audience enthralled in an almost 3 hour movie. There were several shots in the film that had me saying ‘Now how in the hell did they do that?!’, Brilliant scores by James Newton Howard and Hans Zimmer. Every actor shines, no one person steals the film. I don’t want to say much about it, because whatever is said cannot do it justice, there is enough hype surrounding it’s release, but it’s there for a reason. Top Notch film. Bravo to Nolan and his crew for giving a movie that Batman truly deserves.

    9/10.

    “Stargate” Movie Review

    “Stargate” Plot Summary

An interstellar teleportation device, found in Egypt, leads to a planet with humans resembling ancient Egyptians who worship the god Ra. add synopsis

    Greatly made movie!

This is the sort of movie that shouldn’t had really worked out but yet it did. Everything about this movie screams B-movie. Just look at the title, read the script, see the characters, the cast, etcetera. Yet ‘Stargate’ works out tremendously fine as great and above all fine entertainment. It’s for most part due to the fine directing skills of Roland Emmerich, show really knows to uplifts this movie and its story. This movie also really marked the big breakthrough for Roland Emmerich. Yes, it’s true that his real breakthrough movie was ‘Moon 44′ and even though that movie was by no means a great one, it still showed that the director had lots of potential and took the maximum out of the movie. So, ‘Moon 44′ got him Hollywood’s attention but with ‘Stargate’ he for the first time really proofs that he can handle a multi-million dollar production as well and successfully, since ‘Universal Soldier’ was only a successful movie in certain circles. If it weren’t for ‘Stargate’, then now way we would had had movies such as ‘Independence Day’, ‘The Patriot’ and ‘The Day After Tomorrow’. Some people wouldn’t had minded that by the way

Even though the story itself is not that much special, it still has a great and original as well as an intriguing concept, that somehow knows to connect an alien world to ancient Egypt and their Gods. It’s a great science-fiction story without ever really getting too ’science-fiction’ like. It’s uses lots of great and imaginative elements

Once you start really thinking about it, there isn’t an awful lot happening in this movie, mostly action wise. Yet it’s a very entertaining movie to watch, which is due to the fact that it’s made with lots of pace and because of it’s greatly and perfectly adventurous concept of traveling to a far off planet. It’s a movie that never bores and is a perfectly fun one to watch actually. The movie gets also really uplifted by its David Arnold musical score

The movie is fair enough looking. For 1994 standards the special effects are good, especially for the masks worn by the ‘Gods’. But because the movie is for most part set in a dessert like environment it’s not really one that jumps out in its looks and actually also really doesn’t looks and feels like a multi-million dollar production, even though it is. The movie actually looks and feels more cheap, which is also one of the reasons why this movie has already become a sort of a cult-classic

The movie is greatly cast with James Spader and Kurt Russell in the lead roles. But man, did James Spader look still so much different and younger back then. He’s just not the kind of person that aged well. He went from a boyish look in 1994 to an old dirty wrinkly man look now days, even though he’ll turn only just 48 next month. Also greatly cast was Jaye Davidson as Ra. He’s a true memorable villain and it makes you realize what a great shame it is that Jaye Davidson has never acted in many movies, simply just because he never really enjoyed acting much, despite having also received an Oscar nomination for his debut role in ‘The Crying Game’.Truly a recommendable science-fiction classic from the ’90’s.8/10
