    “Con Air” Movie Review

    “Con Air” Plot Summary

A newly released ex-con and former US Ranger finds himself trapped in a prisoner transport plane when the passengers seize control.

    Amazing action flick

This film goes beyond the usual boundaries of an action film. The ensemble cast is brilliant. Nicholas Cage and John Cusack play the ex army ranger turned paroled prisoner and FIB agent respectively who have to find a way of working together when psycho Cyrus ‘The Virus’ Grissom takes over a plane of prisoners who are being transferred to a maximum security unit. Cyrus is played brilliantly by the menacing John Malkovich, and he makes the character appear truly evil, down to his cold eyes. This is the sort of role he excels at

There is also an appearance by Steve Buscemi as the Marietta Mangler, a serial killer who first appears in the film strapped to a chair with a mask, a la Hannibal Lecter

Nicholas Cage is also good as a very honourable guy who just wants to get home to his wife and child, but not at the expense of his fellow prisoners

This film is worth watching many times – its entertaining, sometimes funny and altogether brilliant!

    “The Contract” Plot Summary

Ray Keene, a father who wants to redeem himself in the eyes of his son, is trying to bring Carden, a world-class assassin to justice… add synopsis

    Entertaining

When I saw the rating of this movie of 5.6 stars I thought that this had to be a very bad and boring film to have such a rate despite having very good actors (Freeman and Cusack), but after watching it I liked this film which I found entertaining

This movie gets what it tries to achieves which is just being a 96 minutes entertaining action film nothing else. I liked the performances specially the one of Morgan Freeman who looks so cool like the killer Carden, and I liked the comments of his character too, John Cusack is very good as the nice man who cares a lot about his son

Ray and his son go camping to the forest but their plan changes when they find the injured killer Carden over there, and they will have to take him to the police despite Cardens friends are looking for him …7 stars = good

    “V for Vendetta” Movie Review

    “V for Vendetta” Plot Summary

A shadowy freedom fighter known only as “V” uses terrorist tactics to fight against his totalitarian society. Upon rescuing a girl from the secret police, he also finds his best chance at having an ally.

    Entertaining and intelligent

V for Vendetta is an adaptation of a graphic novel by Alan Moore. While V can be seen as an action film, it’s much more. Although set in Britain, and originally conceived and written by a British artist, this film seems designed to speak to American political sensibilities. V probes the purpose of government and brings up themes which contemporary Americans seem to have forgotten – the basic concepts of the separation of church and state, government by and for the people, the right to overthrow leaders who exercise their own will at the expense of the nation. V reminds us of our duty to resist and rebel against megalomania and totalitarianism. Though grown in England, and tapped into English history, the message applies everywhere and to everybody, but seems especially appropriate for those of us living with the Bush administration and fearful of its legacy

Natalie Portman plays a young woman who is afraid of her own shadow. Out after curfew one night, she is approached by a pair of ruffians and rescued by the verbose, masked V (Weaving). V is a man who has lost his identity as a result of events in his past which are mysteriously connected to the fascistic government (presided over by John Hurt). He draws his identity out of a relatively obscure event in British history, an attempt to blow up parliament, and dons a mask which is a caricature of the leader of this gunpowder revolution

The plot and characterizations are complex, with adequate but not overbearing back-story. The script is occasionally goofy but excellent – retaining many elements of the comic medium without losing any credibility. The acting is simply wonderful. Natalie Portman is phenomenal. Weaving carries a difficult role very nicely, giving powerful humanity to a man who remains shrouded in mystery. Stephen Rea and John Hurt – always great – both lend strong support. The cinematography is very good and fits the story nicely

Since this film involved the Wachowski’s many have seen fit to compare it to the Matrix. Although there are some similarities, I think the comparison is unfair to both films. V is a much less subtle and, in a purely practical political way, a more intelligent and less playful film. It is also less cinematographically innovative and less reliant on scope. Where The Matrix unfolded in the playground of ontology, V is firmly situated in the gladiatorial arena of social psychology. Besides, V was directed by James McTeigue, not the Wachowskis

Even if you don’t get it from a political point of view, you are very likely to enjoy this film. I recommend it to all free-thinking individuals who have not lost hope for humanity.

    “Toy Story 2″ Plot Summary

When Woody is stolen by a toy collector, Buzz and his friends vow to rescue him, but Woody finds the idea of immortality in a museum tempting. add synopsis

Cute Toys Are Back With A Bang For More Adventure

It’s been about a decade since I last saw ‘Toy Story’. Thus, it would be unfair to compare that with ‘Toy Story 2′. Pixar has produced numerous gems since the first ‘Toy Story’. This one is a sheer delightful adventure and it’s not one that is only limited to entertaining children. There are the charming characters from the old one and some wonderful new characters that include the energetic Jessie the Yodelling Cowgirl, the hot barbies and Woody’s faithful and hyper steed. The animation is superb and looks refreshing. The story too takes a new turn that presents the dilemma of whether one should live an eternal life of wealth and security or an unpredictable life that at least promises a few years of love. The actors do a fine job lending their voice. Hanks and Allen are back as Woody and Buzz and Joan Cusack is a treat as the vivacious Jessie. But I must add that I loved Buzz’s gang that includes the hilarious Rex and the lovable Slinky, the resourceful Mr. Potatohead and the cute Hamm, and their attempts to rescue Woody and bring him back home. There’s a beautiful song by Sarah Mclachlan that dictates Jessie’s pain. The sequel being a huge hit just proves how timeless the characters are and I want to see ‘Toy Story’ again just to follow the whole story. It’s already been a decade since, but I wonder whether they’ll make a sequel and what the fate of our toy friends will be once Andy has grown up. ‘Toy Story 2′ is an unforgettable adventure with a beautiful soul.

    “Hero” Movie Review

    “Accidental Hero” Plot Summary

A not-so-nice man rescues passengers from a crashed airliner, only to see someone else take credit. add synopsis

    A Very Good Film

I found this little gem in the bargain bin and liked the theme, so I thought I’d give it a try. And it more than delivered

Here is a truly thoughtful satire that considers what it really means to be a ‘hero’. More important, it seeks to find the heroic in everyday peoples’ actions in the midst of a media culture that is constantly on the lookout for genuine heroes and, finding none, manufactures grandiose imitations instead

The theme of heroism is everywhere in this film, and it might even sound like it is preaching a bit at times, particularly in Andy Garcia’s final monologue on the subject. But it all comes together quite well and ends with a lot of heart. The acting is superb, the screenplay is focused, and I was amazed how well Hero combines the entertainment of fiction with the thoughtfulness of a documentary. If you are interested in the theme of heroism I would highly recommend this film. 9/10.

    “2012″ Movie Review

    “2012″ Plot Summary

An epic adventure about a global cataclysm that brings an end to the world and tells of the heroic struggle of the survivors.

    Great roller-coaster ride

Okay, the first thing I’d like to say is, ignore those comments from members who belong to ‘the worst movie ever club!!’ These members think it is way cool to label every slightly disappointing movie as ‘ the worst movie ever’ and emphasize their juvenility with tons of exclamation marks. They think it is way cool to trash movies.

The movie just isn’t that bad. It’s not that great either so ignore those who gush and tell you how awesome it is and rate it 10 out of 10.

This is a film best viewed in the movie theaters on the largest screen possible to enjoy the thrilling sensation of cities breaking up, tsunamis and volcanic eruptions. This is indeed a thrilling roller-coaster ride. It is best to leave your brain at home, however, as you will cringe at the clichГ©s, the schmaltz, and the absurdities. That doesn’t make it the worst film ever, though. So go for the ride and enjoy the CG effects.

“The Thin Red Line” Plot Summary

Director Terrence Malick’s adaptation of James Jones’ autobiographical 1962 novel, focusing on the conflict at Guadalcanal during the second World War. add synopsis

Most beautiful film in cinema history

Hardly has any movie ever touched me like this one. And every time I watch it on DVD or TV, it gets better and better. I didn’t enjoy it very much the first time I saw it in cinema in 1998 but I did enjoy it more and more with each time I saw it again

The most beautiful scene is Private Witt walking past his fellow soldiers in the camp towards the end and a tear drop runs down his cheek. What is this supposed to mean ? Sadness because he knows he is going to die soon or happiness because he feels like they are his only true family left after he lost his most important family member – his mother ? This is the best movie ever made. Each frame is a piece of art. Each word, each sentence is a revelation. This piece of film will forever be remembered and revered by future filmmakers to come.
