“Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” Movie Review

“HP and the HBP” Plot Summary

As Harry Potter begins his 6th year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, he discovers an old book marked mysteriously ‘This book is the property of the Half-Blood Prince’ and begins to learn more about Lord Voldemort’s dark past. |

One of the Summer’s Best Blockbuster’s

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is the sixth installment in the Harry Potter series, and it is the greatest one yet. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince mixes comedy, romance, drama, and adventure into one, and makes it so marvelous and fun to watch.

The acting in this film than in the earlier ones is more mature and better in quality, also in part because of the maturity of all the actors in the film. Jim Broadbent, Alan Rickman, and Michael Gambon are brilliant and elegant to watch in this masterpiece. The trio, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, and Daniel Radcliffe are also amazing in their roles and pull them off well.

The directing and visuals in this one are marvelous. David Yates gives his best directing in his career to date, and does an amazing job of telling the storyline of J.K Rowling’s fantastic book. The visual effects are so well done and look so real. The cinematography sets the tone for the whole movie right from start to finish, and turns the series in a even darker direction. I also give praise to Hooper’s score which is beautiful and sets the tone in certain dark scenes.

To cap it off, the last half hour of the film is just delicious. The effects, cinematography, and acting are stunning in the last half hour, and sets up for a shocking ending. The movie is not sort of rushed, but you feel that it is being pushed forward. It doesn’t feel long at all because of everything going on, so it passes by normally. Quidditch is back and is certainly the funnest part of the movie and is action packed. The romance in this film is done well and is done humorously. Everyone in this film, whether it be Harry, Hermione, or Rom, all have love on their mind. Half-Blood Prince is also very funny, and Ron will have you laughing a lot.

A great film that most people will enjoy and especially fans of the books. It combines a lot of genres together and makes the film feel more real and more magnificent then the others. It’s a pleasure to watch, and when your done, you just can’t wait for the next two to come out. I hope you enjoy it!

“D-Tox” Plot Summary

Stallone plays a cop who comes undone after witnessing a brutal scene on the job. He checks into a rehab… add synopsis

Great!

It’s good to see Stallone doing some films even if he is in his late 50’s. After the disappointment of Get Carter, he needed this film. I was impressed by this ‘ Predator, Cliffhanger, Seven’ type film. Maybe not for the fainthearted due to the early drilling scenes but you’ll have fun guessing ‘who dun it’. Also good to see Robert Patrick and Kristofferson in a decent film for ages. The acting’s great for some characters with a few scares. The plot may be basic but I’d recommend you see it.

“The Hurt Locker” Movie Review

“The Hurt Locker” Plot Summary

Iraq. Forced to play a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse in the chaos of war, an elite Army bomb squad unit must come together in a city where everyone is a potential enemy and every object could be a deadly bomb.

One of the best war films of the past 25 years…

Gut-wrenching, pulse-pounding, out of this world tension, just mere exterior descriptions of what Kathryn Bigelow’s new film, The Hurt Locker is. Written by Mark Boal, The Hurt Locker overflows with intensity, passion, and reverence. In the wake of 9/11, filmmakers have struggled to create a piece that is socially accepted and respected. Only two films have succeeded in this task over the past eight years; Paul Greengrass’ beautiful United 93, depicting an open interpretation of the final moments of the doomed plane and now, Bigelow’s film will join the short, elite list

This character-driven tale tells the stories of three army soldiers who are a part of the most dangerous of jobs to offer in the military, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), in plainer terms, they disarm bombs. Staff Sergeant William James played ferociously by Jeremy Renner heads up this story as a soldier facing death every moment of the day. With his wife and child at home and often displaying unorthodox behavior, James seems fit for a war soldier. Sergeant JT Sanborn, played by Anthony Mackie is a by-the-book man, living his days at war while incurring losses along the way. Specialist Owen Eldridge played by Brian Geraghty is young, bewildered, and thrust into a situation unknowing of the impact it would have. What these three men bring to their respective roles educates the viewer of the horrors of war. Forget what you think you know on CNN and your local news, Bigelow is running the show with Boal out on assignment and Renner, Mackie, and Geraghty as our anchors. The crews of the picture are the tools in building this powerful vessel. Cinematographer Barry Ackroyd uses his four camera use to keep us feeling like a first-person account of the events of the film. The mesh of Marco Beltrami & Buck Sanders score and the sound effects team makes for a more suspenseful experience. Filming in Jordan was the choice of Bigelow to give it a more authentic feel. ‘If you’re going to make a film about the Middle East, make it in the Middle East.’ Bigelow said to me after the film. It paid off big time because I always felt like I was there in the battle zone, enduring pain, torment, and dehydration. With a NY & LA release set for Friday, June 26th, The Hurt Locker’s deserves all the praise its been receiving and should be experienced by any movie lover. The Oscar Prospects might look a little grim based on the summer release but with no real first-half of 2009 contenders, Bigelow and her film have strong chances of taking a spot amongst the final five come end of the year. Renner and Mackie will also be strong contenders in their respective categories. The strongest possibility for an Oscar has to be for writer Mark Boal. The research he did for the film alone will keep Boal in the minds of voters. The Hurt Locker’s striking cinematography, crisp editing that keeps it at a heart palpating pace, strong performances, directing, and writing is enough to take this film in consideration for your viewing. Brilliant, simply brilliant.****/****

    more fast more furious

This one was way better than the first, I don’t care what all you other pladough brains say. It had better cars, women, plot, bad guys, and action. You should still watch the first one before you see this, even if it wasn’t as good, if you want to get some of the stuff they talk about in this film. As far as the plot goes, it’s a lot more interesting than a boring theft of electronic equipment. You’re much more rather to watch a movie where the good guys are up against meaner and more dangerous bad guys who really have the thrill of danger in them. Actually only Verone did a good job showing that off, but the rest didn’t do bad. Action sequences are what really smoke the original. Finally, a circuit race, and more amounts of races instead of cheesy talking for almost a whole act. I’m glad they improved on the races and action, otherwise I would have hated this movie. God Bless you, John Singleton.

    “A Serious Man” Movie Review

    “A Serious Man” Plot Summary

A black comedy set in 1967 and centered on Larry Gopnik, a Midwestern professor who watches his life unravel when his wife prepares to leave him because his inept brother won’t move out of the house.

    Seriously Brilliant!

When you’re going into a movie theater, you don’t know if you’re going to be watching gold, or watching pure crap. After watching the first ten minutes of A Serious Man, I knew I had struck gold. The next 95 minutes grabbed me by the throat and didn’t let go without laughing or crying. Arguably, the Coen Brothers have topped themselves with this crowning comical achievement. Set in Minnesota in the late Nineteen-Sixties- semi-autobiographical to the Coens- Larry Gopnik, a middle-aged physics professor embodies Job by being pelted with divorce, his job and his enigmatic brother while questioning his Jewish faith. The pain grows with Larry’s self-absorbed teenage daughter and his son, who soldiers through Hebrew school with a hand-held radio and a lid of weed

Playing first-mate aboard the Coen’s Cruiser is cinematographer, Roger Deakins. Deakins captures the monotony of Midwestern suburbia that echoes American Beauty with an approach that would make Hitchcock grin, along with towering angle shots and drug-infused sequences that mirror Schlesinger’s Sunday Bloody Sunday. Carter Burwell’s romantic, yet haunting, blend of piano and strings flows throughout the film’s damned protagonist as he cycles around through id and superego. On top of Burwell’s score is an unforgettable blend of Jimi Hendrix and, primarily, Jefferson Airplane

Michael Stuhlbarg has pounded the floorboards of New York reciting Shakespeare for the past decade. After seeing A Serious Man, you will be talking about Stuhlbarg’s intense, brooding, and funny performance as Larry Gopnik; this is a performance worthy of speculation and adulation. Richard Kind takes his comedic shtick from ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ and gets darker as Larry’s deadbeat brother. Amy Landecker adds another weight onto Larry’s back as a seductive neighbor who plagues his mind with the sexual energy and gravitas of Anne Bancroft’s Mrs. Robinson

If you want cheep laughs and thrills, this is not the film for you. If you want to be philosophically and theologically mind warped, than get as close to the screen as you can. A Serious Man is, seriously, the best film of the year. The Coen Brothers have created their cinematic Sgt. Pepper that will have the religiously devout or true agnostic reeling with laughter and self-loathing.

    “The Golden Compass” Movie Review

    “The Golden Compass” Plot Summary

In a parallel universe, young Lyra Belacqua journeys to the far North to save her best friend and other kidnapped children from terrible experiments by a mysterious organization.

    Impressed and Very Satisfied

I am about 2 thirds of the way through the book when I decided to go to the limited engagement sneak preview of The Golden Compass. I feel that the film exceeded my expectations regardless of the structure change made by the film adaptation

The story was changed moderately, but not too much to take away from the mood of the book, and was in no way detrimental to the flow of the story. Otherwise, this movie was a roller-coaster ride from beginning to end! The effects exceeded my expectations. The flow of the daemons in the film was almost completely convincing, however there were times when the speech of the animals had that typical ‘computer animated falseness’ that you see in the cg cartoons. Other than some minor CG blemishes, the realism is some of the most convincing I have seen! The polar bear is completely lifelike and the animal morphing I felt was simply spectacular

The flow of the film is very fast, which is a negative and a positive. While it really leaves us guessing or feeling unfulfilled in some of the crucial story elements, it also sets the pace for an exhilarating fast-paced adventure story that keeps you on the edge! The broad range of characters prevents the film from truly developing the characters that we really WANT to know. Since the book is a 3 part series, hopefully these characters will develop further in the next 2 films

I must say that there were several parts in this film that surprised me, considering this is marketed as a family film. This is a dark film. This could frighten some small kids. I feel this film definitely belongs in the pg-13 rating, and might even be a bit much for a 13 year old for the more sheltering type parents. Not only can it be conceived as very violent, there are some very adult themes that could be considered questionable

Overall, this is a film I would like to see again, and I am DYING to see the next film in the series. I walked out of this film excited, satisfied and wanting more. Might want to leave the young ones at home, but you won’t regretting fighting for front row seats on a Friday night for this flick.

    “Hollow Man” Plot Summary

Scientists discover how to make people invisible, but their test subject becomes an insane killer who stalks them. add synopsis

    Good movie that i like

There are 2 reasons why this movie is good and there is 1 reason why this movie is bad.reasons why this movie is good: 1.

There is a good cast in this movie with good actors and actress like The really great actor Kevin Bacon from the great movie Mystic River,The really beautiful Elisabeth Shue from the great movie Back To The Future Part II,Josh Brolin,Kim Dickens and Joey Slotnick.2.

The special Effects in this movie are really great

There is one reason why this movie is bad:1.how Kevin Bacon never seemed to die in this movie even after being on fire and then he got hit in the head with a metal pole and then he got electrocuted but he did not die

Over all this movie is mostly good but there are some flaws and my rating is 6 out of 10.

One of the most entertaining, funnest, and enjoyable films in years!

This is not a film to be taken seriously. I love it! It is just such an entertaining film. The action is enjoyable and well done, although it is unrealistic, but that is why I loved it. The acting is good, the writing is of course so intentionally cheesy and corny, but I loved the plot! The women are HOT HOT HOT, and that is something that matters. I do not get why this film gets too much hate. Honestly, it is just done as a popcorn action film, and it works!!! It really is mindless, and that is why it is easier to enjoy than maybe other action films like Spider-Man (although another similar action-packed film Wanted is just better in every way and not mindless actually). Still, this film works for me, and I think it is better than the original.
