“Marley & Me” Movie Review

“Marley and Me” Plot Summary

A family learns important life lessons from their adorable, but naughty and neurotic dog.

Best film of the holiday season

Short-attention-span synopsis: Best film of the holiday season

Marley & Me (PG, 2:00) 9I felt bad having to deliver the news to my fellow fans about what a poor crop of SF&F films we have to pick from this holiday season, so let me make it up to you by giving a totally unqualified recommendation for Marley & Me! It’s not science fiction. Heck, it’s barely fiction at all, since it’s drawn from the real-life experiences of newspaper columnist John Grogan, his wife Jen, their kids, and their yellow labrador retriever, Marley, ‘the worst dog in the world’.I do some database work for the Wisconsin Academy of Graduate Service Dogs, and I have to say that Marley would have washed out of the academy in 15 minutes. He’d be a terrible service dog, but he makes a wonderful friend

This film is utterly realistic. It never strikes a forced or false note. There are lots of laffs, but they all arise organically out of real life. John and Jen are good, decent people (like virtually all Americans), and they behave naturally, without any visible ‘acting’. It’s a little slice of Americana. If a big-budget spectacular like Benjamin Button had been able to muster a quarter of the heart of this modest film, they’d already be rolling Oscar’s red carpet up to its front door.’I'd like to be the man my dog thinks I am.’ — Mike McGuire, songwriter

“He’s Just Not That Into You” Movie Review

“He’s Just Not That Into You” Plot Summary

The Baltimore-set movie of interconnecting story arcs deals with the challenges of reading or misreading human behavior.

A good romantic comedy!

I happened to see this movie with my wife on Valentine’s day. I had entered the theater with low expectations and the only reason I was keen to watch this was because of Ben Affleck and host of other starts. However, as the movie progressed I found myself starting to like it. By the time it ended I was glad it didn’t turn out to be just another stupid romantic comedy made to pull the audiences with big stars

The story is not new yet the script is cleverly written as it juggles between couples all somehow intertwined/related with each other added with nice style of presenting it, thus keeping the viewer interested

The characters are from a wide range of people we encounter in real life. Alex, a guy who’s an ‘expert’ on relationships. He keeps himself away from emotional attachments, runs a bar and plays an agony aunt to Gigi; a lady desperately seeking a soul mate. Next is Beth, Gigi’s friend cum co-worker who is in a relationship with Neil since seven years and is very keen to tie the knot as opposed to Neil who loves Beth, is loyal to her but believes marriage is not an assurance of loyalty. This fact is proved by Ben; Neil’s friend who’s married to Janine (who also happens to be Gigi’s co-worker) for around 8 years, but falls for Anna. Next follows a typical chase of ‘A’ following ‘B’, ‘B’ following ‘C’, hidden meanings, signs, a little humor here and there and related stuff

Performances in this movie are fine by everyone if not exceptional. Ben Affleck and Drew Barrymore play their parts with ease. I liked Drew’s small part, especially where she expresses her frustration with today’s increasing use of technology which is leading people apart as opposed to bringing them together. Justin Long impresses with his performance and Scarlett Johansson is convincing as the temptress. The rest of the cast also do not disappoint as well

What I didn’t like about this movie was its length which I found to be a bit long. Also, the soundtrack of this movie is not very impressive, with a couple of exceptions. Finally it would’ve helped if it would have been more funny

I would recommend this fresh take on love, romance, loyalty, marriage and things similar, to anyone who is looking for a good romantic comedy.

    “The Iron Giant” Plot Summary

A boy makes friends with an innocent alien giant robot that a paranoid government agent wants to destroy. add synopsis

    Wow!!

What an amazing film. I had no idea what a wonderful film this is. I mean, I’m in my mid 30’s and a mum of 3. I absolutely love this film. My kids really enjoy it but I don’t think they really appreciate the message that it is trying to put across. (well, my 4 year old anyway) My 7 year old just likes it for the bang factor. (the explosions and stuff!) I was a bit disappointed though that the giant didn’t have more to say. It would of been nice to know were he came from and why. I had no idea at all that the voice of the giant is Vin Diesel! I would never of thought that he would do anything like this. Just goes to show how many actors are typecast. I got quite tearful at the end, especially when the giant says his last line about being Superman. I mean this is ludicrous! A grown woman crying over what is basically a cartoon!!! Maybe a sequel to this film could happen? If you haven’t seen it yet, please make an effort to do so.

    “Bruce Almighty” Movie Review

    “Bruce Almighty” Plot Summary

A guy who complains about God too often is given almighty powers to teach him how difficult it is to run the world. add synopsis

    Very Funny!

This film is the best film Jim Carrey has ever made. Carrey did not have his usual face making stuff in this film. He was both funny and sad. Carrey played a reporter named Bruce Nolan. Nolan blames God(Morgan Freeman) for everything that goes wrong in his life. Then, God comes down from heaven and gives Bruce his powers. As I said before, Carrey did an excellent job. I also thought that Morgan Freeman and Jennifer Aniston were great as supporting actor/actress. The plot was good because it had many subpoints in the main point. This movie can be funny(Bruce’s dog) as well as sad(the ‘break-up’). The script worked well, too. I am glad they made a sequel to this film. I rate this film a 9/10.
