    “Jaws 2″ Plot Summary

Police chief Brody must protect the citizens of Amity after a second monstrous shark begins terrorizing the waters. add synopsis

    The mother of all sequals…

Jaws will always be remembered in history for so many things, but what I’ve chose to comment here, is about how sequels are now part of the main stream and how they are marketed. Planet of the Apes, and few other ‘franchises’ had existed before Jaws, but none have been copied, parodied, or are engraved in the mind of the public as the Jaws franchise. Jaws was one of the first film franchises to use a number after the title, along with aggressive add campains. For years every sequel that has come out uses something from the Jaws ‘book’ of ‘how to’ when it comes to sequels. Down to the taglines: ‘Just when you thought it was safe…,’ ‘See it before…’ ‘The (place your number here) dimension in terror’,…and the all too famous: ‘This time…it’s personal..’Face it, the Jaws sequels are bad, and yet still can be watched, because they are not as bad as most sequels, yet taught many film makers what NOT to do with a franchise.

    “Superman II” Movie Review

    “Superman 2″ Plot Summary

Superman agrees to sacrifice his powers to marry Lois, unaware that three Kryptonian criminals he inadvertently released are conquering Earth. add synopsis

    Best of the sequels!

After the events of ‘Superman: The Movie’, the man of steel (Christopher Reeves)just saved Lois (Margot Kidder)from terrorists in Paris as he throws out their thermonuclear device that accidentally breaks the three evil Kryptonian criminals named Zod, Ursa and Non (Terrence Stamp, Sarah Douglas and Jack O’Holloren) out of their space prison to enslave the Earth with the help of Lex Luthor (Gene Hackman) as only Superman must stop them. But unfortunately for Clark Kent, he wants to give up his super powers so he can be with Lois for she has found out what Clark’s secret really is and is now mortal with no power. However, the country is in chaos especially the world which is in mortal danger from the fearsome four but can Clark change back to Superman? Excellent second part of the franchise and proves a second part of a franchise can work like ‘The Godfather 2′, ‘Evil Dead 2′, ‘Dawn of the Dead (1978)’, ‘Empire Strikes Back’, ‘Spider-Man 2′, ‘X2′, etc. The acting is top notch, the villains are believable especially the sexy Sarah Douglas as Ursa! Good special effects and E.G Marshall does an appearance as the President

This sequel has everything to please fans of the first movie especially more action then ever! a highly recommended sequel and can’t wait for the Richard Donner director’s cut version coming out this fall.

    “Kung Fu Panda” Plot Summary

In the Valley of Peace, Po the Panda finds himself chosen as the Dragon Warrior despite the fact that he is obese and a complete novice at martial arts.

Exceptionaly visual, funny, action packed and intelligent movie for all ages.

One of the best comedy movies I’ve seen, this animation feature is both packed with action and intelligent at the same time. It’s yet another variation on ‘You can do anything if you believe in yourself’ and carries strong morale and educational message. But the way it’s done, the incredible visual side of the story, as well as the dialogs, is just exceptional. You can’t but love the fat Panda boy who’s dreaming about being the greatest warrior of all China only to wake up to the reality of hawing to serve noodle soup in his father’s shop. Unlike his father, who also dreamed but never found the courage to act on it, Panda follows his calling and by ‘luck’ get chosen to be the legendary Dragon warrior by the Kung-Fu grand master, the old turtle, to defeat the evil tiger. That’s when his training and troubles start. It’s really for anyone between 3 and 100 and I laughed and loved it from the titles in the beginning to the very end. Much recommended.

    “Shanghai Noon” Movie Review

    “Shanghai Noon” Plot Summary

Jackie Chan plays a Chinese man who travels to the Wild West to rescue a kidnapped princess. After teaming up with a train robber, the unlikely duo takes on a Chinese traitor and his corrupt boss. add synopsis

perfect blend of action and comedy, the funniest western ever

This movie is a perfect blend of action and comedy. This movie stars Jackie Chan as Chon Wang, one of the soldiers of the army of the forbidden city in China. When the princess leaves and goes to America it is up to Chon to bring her back. When he gets to Nevada, where most of the story takes place he meets Roy O’Bannon played by Owen Wilson u’ll ever meet. He is a wanted outlaw and in an odd chain of events they become a duo. This is the funniest western, this movie surpasses Blazing Saddles by far. Blazing Saddles is funny but the one-liners that Owen Wilson drop are just so hilarious. ‘I don’t know Karate but I do know crazy, and I will use it’. Lucy Lui also stars as the Princess This movie is definitely worth seeing but you kinda wanna steer clear of the sequel ‘Shanghai Knights’ It does not do the first film justice. I have never been able to complete the second one mainly because it is boring. But salutes to Shanghai Noon the funniest western to date. 9 out of 10

“Around the World in 80 Days” Movie Review

“Around the World in Eighty Days” Plot Summary

A bet pits a British inventor, a Chinese thief, and a French artist on a worldwide adventure that they can circle the globe in 80 days.

    Better than I expected

This is not so much an adaptation of the Jules Verne novel than the most expensive Jackie Chan movie ever. Like in his other films, Chan is fun to watch particularly in fight scenes. We don’t really care about the plot about going around the world in 80 days. Filius Fogg and his French girlfriend seem to just go along for the ride. Fogg is supposed to be a brilliant inventor, yet he can’t figure out that his new valet Chan is not French is one of the sillier plot holes. The other problem with the film is despite the big budget, some of the film looks fake looking. The special effects are not very impressive. It is also obvious that much of the film was filmed on a set and not on location. Still, the movie is watchable and it beats The Stepford Wives on remakes. I give it a 6/10 because it is entertaining but it is nothing special.

    A Definite Top 250 Movie

This ‘absolute classic’ film is ‘without doubt’ ‘one of’ the ‘best films’ ‘ever’!!! It really is a ‘fantastic film’ with moments of ‘pure joy’ and ‘awesome action’ that will ‘keep you at the edge of your seat/s’. I remember the first time I ever ‘thoroughly enjoyed’ this film. I was a ‘wee nipper’ back in ‘the day’. I was ’sat’ on my ‘own’ in the cinema (we used to call it ‘the pictures’) and I watched it from the ’start’ to the ‘very’ end. (including all of the credits, which were ‘excellent’ too). Then I watched it when it came ‘out’ on VHS (although we used to call it ‘video’ – tsssh! How silly were we??) and I remember ‘thoroughly enjoying’ it ‘all over again’. Afterwards, I turned to my Monkey, ‘Dave’ and said: ‘You know what, Dave?’ (He doesn’t say much back, ever, so I went on…) ‘I ‘thoroughly enjoyed’ watching that ‘film’ (or was it ‘movie’ I said??) ‘all over’ ‘again!’

“As Good as It Gets” Movie Review

“As Good as It Gets” Plot Summary

A single mother/waitress, a misanthropic author, and a gay artist form an unlikely friendship add synopsis

This movie truly is ‘As Good As It Gets’

This movie truly is ‘As Good As It Gets’. Outstanding acting, bizarre, yet amazing plot, this movie has got it all! Jack Nicholson plays a marvelous role as Melvin Udall, a seemingly cruel, middle-aged man, who is a successful romantic storywriter. Melvin is extremely rude to his neighbours, especially to his gay neighbour Simon Bishop, played by Greg Kinnear. Greg is a remarkable actor in this film. In fact, Greg was nominated for best supporting actor, along with Nicholson for best actor and Helen Hunt for best actress. The film was nominated for best picture and best screenplay for the 1997 Academy Awards. Greg plays the role of a gay artist who is mugged while working in his home studio. During his recuperation he has to leave his dog in the hands of his spiteful neighbour. In Simon’s absence an unlikely friendship grows between Melvin and his neighbour’s dog. The story unfolds to show that this uncaring man can indeed have feelings for another being, in this case the dog. You also see that Melvin has feelings for someone other than the dog. He has a daily routine of going to a restaurant. He orders the same meal by the same waitress everyday. One day the waitress, Carol Connelly, played by Helen Hunt, misses work because of her son’s illness. Melvin refuses to eat until Carol returns to work. He can’t live out his daily routine without Carol. He finds that he needs her. He pays for a home doctor for Carol’s son to get Carol back at work. But this only scares her. Eventually they all learn to love one another. The directing in this movie was reasonable. The director was James L. Brooks. This movie is a bit better than other movie that he has directed, such as I’ll Do Anything (1994), Broadcast News (1987) and Terms of Endearment (1983). The plot of this movie is interesting. It is believable, but not likely to happen. As Good As It Gets is an original film. No film I know is similar to it at all. I doubt there is any chance of any sequel to this movie. The sound in the movie isn’t really noticeable in the film. However, perhaps that is fine. If the sound were out of place, possibly it would have been more noticeable. That would be unpleasant. One sequence in this film that struck me as outstanding was when Nicholson went to the doctor for help. He had what is called obsessive-compulsive disorder. The doctor refuses to help him because he made no appointment. On his way out he passes through the waiting room. He stops and turns to everyone and say ‘Have you ever thought what if this is as good as it gets?’ I figure that was a turning point in his life. He realizes that life might not get any better and he should live it to its fullest. The photography and camera angles contributed to this scene to make it perfect. The movie was filmed in California, Manhattan and Brooklyn, New York. It was noticeable that the movie was filmed in New York, because the location on scenes looked like New York. One scene in the movie had exceptional make-up. The scene where you see Melvin’s neighbour Greg in the hospital after he is mugged. He is so bruised up. It looked so real. In the movie when Nicholson was walking on the sidewalk he would always make sure he didn’t step on the cracks. This was because of his obsessive-compulsive disorder. He did this every time he went out. Eventually after taking his neighbour’s dog out with him the dog started to do the same. This is considered a stunt. The stunt crew created a thin string fence above each crack in the sidewalk. The string fence was not visible to the viewer, but the dog would have to step over the string when walking over a crack. However nothing that occurred was that dangerous to warrant a major stunt scene. The editing in this movie was done fairly well. There are no noticeable mistakes. I’m sure special effects were used, but none were obvious in the movie. As Good As It Gets was produced and directed by James L. Brooks. Tristar Pictures financed and distributed the film. The film was successful

As Good As It Gets is a good comedy, has a good love story and great acting. It is not that much of a convincing movie, however it has wonderful writing and acting. It’s a movie I would recommend.

“The Chronicles of Riddick: Pitch Black” Plot Summary

A group of marooned space travelers struggle for survival on a seemingly lifeless sun-scorched world.

    Surprisingly good movie ;)

Pitch Black is a surprisingly good movie. I was not a fan of Vin diesel before I saw Pitch black, but after seeing Pitch Black my respect for Vin Diesel has gone up. He did a great job playing Riddick a man wanted for many murders. His character is cold and makes many decisions that surprised me, like near the end Riddick was going to get on the ship and save his own ass leaving everyone behind to die. I like this movie and how it deals with human instinct. This movie is low budget but this movie goes to show you don’t need amazing special effects and lots of money to make a good movie, I think all the characters made this movie. I give this movie 8 out of 10 ;)

    “Rush Hour” Plot Summary

Two cops team up to get back a kidnapped daughter.

    Worth every penny!

First, I am not a martial arts film fan. I am however someone who enjoys being entertained and this film does just that. Wrapped around a thin plot it is a buddy/buddy film that works. Just as Mel and Danny made the Lethal Weapon films work, Jackie and Chris fit together just as well. The clips they show you in the trailers are not the only good scenes in this movie, the films full of them. All in all, well worth the time and money.
