“Babylon A.D.” Movie Review

“Babylon AD” Plot Summary

Veteran-turned-mercenary Toorop takes the high-risk job of escorting a woman from Russia to America. Little does he know that she is host to an organism that a cult wants to harvest in order to produce a genetically modified Messiah.

Enjoyable

I enjoyed the movie. The locations were visually interesting. I liked the camera work. There was a lot of action, but everything happened so fast it was hard to follow the action scenes. Vin Diesel is interesting and entertaining to watch, and if you enjoy his movies, then you will like this one

I am going to have to read the book to understand what the plot really was about. The explanation of the plot seems to have been sacrificed for more action. I like reading sci-fi, so this gives me something to look up when I go to the bookstore. When I read the book, I will think of the movie and it will be fun

If you like exotic locations and nice camera work, fast action scenes and don’t mind some foul language, its a fun movie.

“Black Snake Moan” Movie Review

“Black Snake Moan” Plot Summary

A God-fearing bluesman takes to a wild young woman who, as a victim of childhood sexual abuse, looks everywhere for love, never quite finding it.

The Best Movie I’ve Seen All Year

I just saw this movie at the Atlanta Premiere (2/14/07) and it was fantastic. Craig came out for a brief Q&A session afterwards and was very gracious. The cinematography was lush, no other way to describe it. It absolutely captured the small-town South in terms of its feel, seeing this movie was like being there. It’s difficult sometimes to divorce big names from characters and see the actor as the character he/she is supposed to be playing, but not in this film. In very short order Jackson, Ricci, and even Timberlake had me believing. In short, a superb effort, and one I’d highly recommend.

    “Hulk” Movie Review

    “Hulk” Plot Summary

Bruce Banner, a genetics researcher with a tragic past, suffers an accident that causes him to transform into a raging green monster when he gets angry.

    A great movie

This is, to date, my favorite superhero movie. I can but wonder why so many people think it is so bad

First, since it’s a superhero movie, there’s the action scenes. There’s not too many of them, and what there is, is quite good

I recall there being some criticism about the Hulk’s 3D model and how it is not detailed enough. While I kinda agree that it could be better, I do not think it is too distracting

Now, on to the story and characters. And here is the strongest part of the movie. The interaction of Hulk and Betty Ross is something that touches me on a personal level. And in general the characters are mainly well developed and have interesting enough interaction. The story progresses at a nice pace, not being too fast or too slow. It’s definitely a ’smarter’ and even more emotional than, say, the Spider-Man movies

I can’t think of too much else to say, since to me so much of what is good about this movie I can’t really find the words for, and in the end it’s the overall feeling that counts. I’ll end this by saying that while the new ‘The Incredible Hulk’ was a decent movie on its own right, in my books it doesn’t hold a candle to this movie.

    “The Incredible Hulk” Movie Review

    “Hulk 2″ Plot Summary

Dr. Bruce Banner, thanks to a gamma ray experiment gone wrong, transforms into a giant green-skinned hulk whenever his pulse rate gets too high. Meanwhile, a soldier uses the same technology to become an evil version of the original.

Truly Incredible… extraordinary in every way!

What a summer Marvel is having! Iron Man hitting big was great but Incredible Hulk may even top it. I caught a pre-screening and I can assure everyone that the Hulk delivers more action and maybe more fun. If you are concerned that this film is another Ang Lee type misfire, don’t be. It’s about 100 times better then the version of five years ago. Unlike the Ang Lee effort, it’s presented in a way that can be savored. The pacing is perfect and the action is relentlessly awesome. What’s amazing is that they managed to play both sides perfectly. It’s far deeper then I would’ve thought given the subject matter. Each frame is packed with action, emotion, drama or intensity. I was expecting to see a crazy green giant destroying the landscape and fighting another crazy green monster for two hours. I was shocked at the complexity of this movie. Given Edward Norton’s involvement, I don’t know why I’m so surprised. The action is certainly there but the tone is perfect, a mix of the TV flavor with all the action from the comic books. Hulk does indeed ’smash’ but it’s more then just dumb action with no plot. It truly is an all around exceptional film. Also, I’m amazed at how far the CGI came since the first teaser trailer. This remarkable CGI works very well and it offers the chance to savor a complete movie going experience without being pulled out of the film. This trimmed downed Hulk looks perfect and his opponent is truly frightening. The final battle between the two will go down in movie history as one of the greatest fights of all-time. Overall, a summer movie that’s superior to everything else that I’ve seen this year, with the possible exception of Iron Man. Again, who would’ve thought that Marvel would be a perfect two for two this summer? Speaking of Iron Man (*Beware SPOILER*) Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) does indeed show up at the end of the film(they cut from Banner and that green eyed smile we’ve all seen in the TV ads right to the Stark scene and the hairs on your neck will stand up)
