    “Pretty Woman” Movie Review

    “Pretty Woman” Plot Summary

A man in a legal but hurtful business needs an escort for some social events, and hires a beautiful prostitute he meets… only to fall in love.

    A winning romantic comedy.

Garry Marshall may not be the most interesting director working in Hollywood, but his movies are definitely entertaining, and in that sense he is successful. Perhaps his two greatest films, which also are the ones he’ll most likely be remembered for, are ‘Beaches’ and ‘Pretty Woman’. One of the most commercially successful (almost $500m worldwide!!) romantic comedies of all time,’Pretty Woman’ is a charming modern day fairy tale that works largely in part to the phenomenal on-screen chemistry between its two stars Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. In an Academy Award nominated performance as Vivian Ward, Julia Roberts truly shines. Her screen presence is nothing short of radiating, not to mention she’s a highly skilled comedic actress. The film also owes a lot to its equally strong supporting performances from Jason Alexander, Laura San Giacomo and Hector Elizondo. All cliches aside, it’s highly enjoyable and stands up superbly even after repeated viewings, a definite 10/10.

    “Blade” Movie Review

    “Blade” Plot Summary

A half-vampire, half-mortal man becomes a protector of the mortal race, while slaying evil vampires.

    GOOD ACTION/HORROR MOVIE!!

This was one of those slick action movies that was made to look good on screen, and it did, the vampire fighting sequences were excellent, there was plenty of blood and gore the whole movie looked good to the eye. It was a fun watch and very entertaining. Good movie but I didn’t like how Blade could slice vampires in half and they would just die, it looked good but vampires don’t die by getting sliced in half. Other than the vampires and how many rules were not kept to in this movie, Wesley Snipes gives a good performance as Blade and Stephen Dorff is great as the evil vampire. The story is when Blade’s mother was bitten by a vampire during pregnancy, she did not know that she gave her son a special gift while dying: All the good vampire attributes in combination with the best human skills. Blade grew up to be a vampire hunter for revenge on his mother’s death. The vampires, who managed to infiltrate nearly every major organization, need Blade’s very special blood to summon La Miagra, the blood god, in order to gain reign about the human cattle, as they call us. If you beleive that vampires can only be killed by a stab to the heart and the weapon must stay in the heart and chopping the head off are the only ways to kill a vampire you won’t find that in Blade. But Blade has it’s moments and I would recommend it as a good horror/action movie.

Homer’s epic poem “The Odyssey”, set in the deep south during the 1930’s. In it, three escaped convicts search for hidden treasure while a relentless lawman pursues them.

The Best Coen Brothers Film Yet

Just seen this film at an NFT preview, and I was blown away by it. It is very funny, gorgeous to look at, has a stunning soundtrack and absolutely impeccable comedy performances. Sharing a similar meandering storyline with the Big Lebowski, it succeed where that film fails by still having a coherent storyline running through and a satisfying resolution. As I’ve come to expect from the Coens, the visuals are striking but they’ve never been this beautiful before, and at no time – unlike – in previous films, do they seem merely to be there as an exercise in cleverness. But what makes this film is the excellent comic performances from even the smaller roles (several of whom are Coen regulars) – Even though the characters, as in many coen films, are (slightly irregular) stereotypes the performances give even the shallow characters a depth and makes the scenes even more funny. Oh, and the soundtrack ain’t too bad either.

    “The Firm” Plot Summary

A young lawyer joins a prestigous law firm only to discover that it has a sinister dark side. add synopsis

    Had issues, still good

May contain spoilers, be warned! It seems like the more Tom Cruise movies I watch, the more I really really like him. The Firm surprised me because it was LONG, which means it has a lot of potential for viewers to lose interest, but that didn’t happen to me. It was tight & suspenseful all the way through. My one compliant: there were too many characters & too many different settings. I didn’t know all the lawyers names, plus the Mafia guys, the FBI workers, etc., not to mention where they all where, as the action was spread across several US cities plus in the Cayman Islands. All in all, a good movie. The changes in the story from the book that it was based on didn’t create a weaker/worse film. ***1/2 out of 5

“Catch Me If You Can” Plot Summary

A true story about Frank Abagnale Jr. who, before his 19th birthday, successfully conned millions of dollars worth of checks as a Pan Am pilot, doctor, and legal prosecutor.

    very entertaining

I watched this for the first time two years ago and it was a reminder of why Leo is an international cultural icon at a very young age. A lot of people claim it was because of his cute looks but this young fellow(unlike all pretty boys of Hollywood)oozes intangible charisma and charm, you couple that with a perfectly fit character and you get yourself a guaranteed winner(critically and financially). In this film, unlike Gangs of New York, Dicaprio gets to display a believable and much more interesting character than his character in GONY. not to mention that having Tom Hanks ALWAYS helps. Therefore, it was no surprise that this film made twice as much money as GONY. This movie had more fun scenes than 10 movies combined.

    “The Incredibles” Movie Review

    “The Incredibles” Plot Summary

A family of undercover superheroes, while trying to live the quiet suburban life, are forced into action to save the world.

Good Entertainemt For About Any Age

This was somewhat of a surprise hit when it came out in 2004. Most of the attention was on a competing animated film but this is the one that turned out to be a huge box-office success. Word of mouth helped his immensely. It’s what made me check it out, as several friends recommended it. I wound up agreeing with them: it’s excellent entertainment

The visuals and sound are very impressive, but it’s the story that carries this film: a solid combination of humor, drama, suspense, family ties and action. The action, as in many modern-day films, was overdone in the last half hour of the movie but overall….the DVD is a good investment since people 3 to 63 should enjoy this

As an adult, it’s not always easy to keep my attention for two hours with animation but the fact this movie does, tells you how good the story is presented. There are wonderful colors in here, too, and a good 5.1 surround system with a sub-woofer would probably blow the roof off!

    “Jaws” Movie Review

    “Jaws” Plot Summary

When a gigantic great white shark begins to menace the small island community of Amity, a police chief, a marine scientist and grizzled fisherman set out to stop it.

Finally, 33 years later, I’ve seen the movie that reminded us to not go in the water…

‘Jaws’ is a movie for the ages. It’s an example of what happens when the right people come together for the right reasons, for the right movie

Firstly, author Peter Benchley co-wrote the screenplay (the screenplay itself is adapted from his own novel of the same name) that became one of the new, classic scary-stories of our time: a huge great white shark is terrorizing the residents of a small New England beach community. Amity Police Chief Brody (the recently departed Roy Scheider), marine expert Matt Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss), and grizzled shark hunter Quint (the late Robert Shaw) are the heroic three who volunteer to have a climatic showdown with this man-eating menace appropriate described as mother nature’s ultimate killing machine

I should make it clear that for years I was never one of this movie’s biggest fans. So I just kind of avoided it – the theme just didn’t appeal to me, since I’ve never been afraid to go swimming at the beach. But guess what? ‘Jaws’ is the classic adventure-horror of our times, and I am now amongst one of its many, many fans. A lot of things are classic about this movie – it’s pointless to even describe them here

Also, I’m sure there are a number of scientific inaccuracies about the true nature of sharks (the recently departed shark hunter who inspired ‘Quint’ always said he felt sorry for the shark in this movie) and whether or not they are truly something to fear – but, you know what? – it’s Hollywood, they always win. And I’m also sure that the liberties with sharks were liberties well-taken for the sake of dramatic potential: This movie did its job in scaring the living daylights out of a lot of people

Most importantly, other than serving up great scares, suspense and adventure, ‘Jaws’ is responsible for starting the career of Hollywood director Steven Spielberg. ‘Jaws’ was his claim to fame; it’s also the movie credited for starting the summer blockbuster phenomenon (this currently ranks pretty high amongst one of the highest-grossing movies of all time), and spawning three sequels and countless imitators. Spielberg would go on to do great things in his career, long after ‘Jaws,’ and he still continues to do great things to do this day because of this movie. It’s probably one of my favorite movies of his and one of my favorite movies of all time.’Jaws’ is a movie not likely to ever go away any time soon. That is part of its appeal: its ability to remain an important piece of cinema and a pop culture phenomenon that continues to genuinely frighten us even 33 years after its release. And that is also the mark of a truly great film. It’s a powerful example of what film-making can really do when the right people are involved in the right movie, for the right reasons.10/10

    “The Incredible Hulk” Movie Review

    “Hulk 2″ Plot Summary

Dr. Bruce Banner, thanks to a gamma ray experiment gone wrong, transforms into a giant green-skinned hulk whenever his pulse rate gets too high. Meanwhile, a soldier uses the same technology to become an evil version of the original.

Truly Incredible… extraordinary in every way!

What a summer Marvel is having! Iron Man hitting big was great but Incredible Hulk may even top it. I caught a pre-screening and I can assure everyone that the Hulk delivers more action and maybe more fun. If you are concerned that this film is another Ang Lee type misfire, don’t be. It’s about 100 times better then the version of five years ago. Unlike the Ang Lee effort, it’s presented in a way that can be savored. The pacing is perfect and the action is relentlessly awesome. What’s amazing is that they managed to play both sides perfectly. It’s far deeper then I would’ve thought given the subject matter. Each frame is packed with action, emotion, drama or intensity. I was expecting to see a crazy green giant destroying the landscape and fighting another crazy green monster for two hours. I was shocked at the complexity of this movie. Given Edward Norton’s involvement, I don’t know why I’m so surprised. The action is certainly there but the tone is perfect, a mix of the TV flavor with all the action from the comic books. Hulk does indeed ’smash’ but it’s more then just dumb action with no plot. It truly is an all around exceptional film. Also, I’m amazed at how far the CGI came since the first teaser trailer. This remarkable CGI works very well and it offers the chance to savor a complete movie going experience without being pulled out of the film. This trimmed downed Hulk looks perfect and his opponent is truly frightening. The final battle between the two will go down in movie history as one of the greatest fights of all-time. Overall, a summer movie that’s superior to everything else that I’ve seen this year, with the possible exception of Iron Man. Again, who would’ve thought that Marvel would be a perfect two for two this summer? Speaking of Iron Man (*Beware SPOILER*) Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) does indeed show up at the end of the film(they cut from Banner and that green eyed smile we’ve all seen in the TV ads right to the Stark scene and the hairs on your neck will stand up)
