    “Groundhog Day” Movie Review

    “Groundhog Day” Plot Summary

A weatherman finds himself living the same day over and over again.

Among the most novel and entertaining of movies, a genuine modern classic.

‘Groundhog Day’ is Bill Murray’s serious movie. Along with Andie McDowell they make great chemistry. ‘Phil’ is the wise-cracking weatherman who thinks he is too good for everyone else. He is in PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa to do a newscast, and wishes he were just about anywhere else. They get snowed in, have to spend the night, and the next morning at 6AM the fun begins

It is groundhog day again! He goes out, sees all the same people, doing and saying all the same things. To everyone else, this is the only time they have lived this particular day. But for Phil, it is the second time. In fact, every morning thereafter he awakes at 6AM to exactly the same music, the same day, it looks like itwill be for eternity

January 2007: Just watched it yet again, it never gets old. (pun)Feb, 2, 2009 – Groundhog Day – I just watched it again. Never gets old!!CAUTION–SPOILERS–At first, Phil takes the ‘repeat’ days to deal in funny, or cruel, ways with others he knows he will meet. He knows everything will be wiped clean and he can start fresh the next day. No one but he will remember what happened the prior day. After a while, he gets depressed at the thought of being sentenced to an eternity of living the same day, so he tries to kill himself. Jumping off a building, taking a bath with a toaster, driving a car off a cliff, getting into the path of a truck. He succeeds each time, however when 6AM comes the next day, he’s back in his bed, Groundhog Day again, and his daily cycle starts again. And eventually he decides to go ahead and try to make good use of his situation

So he takes on new hobbies. He becomes expert at ice sculpture, medicine, piano-playing, poetry, and a number of others. He comes to know all the people in town, not only their names but also intimate details of their lives. The film never hints at how many times he re-lives the same day. However, to gain all the proficiencies he did, it must have been several hundred. Perhaps even in the thousands. But that detail doesn’t matter

As he becomes more and more charming, he decides to try and seduce his producer, played by McDowell. Each day he gets a bit farther, only to show off as the real jerk that he is, then is slapped and snubbed. But each day, since he is the only one who remembers, he gets a bit further. However, he is destined to never get the girl, unless he really changes, and he doesn’t realize this

In the last 1/4 of the film, he has become a truly changed man. He helps people because it is the right thing to do. He is humble about his successes, and it is this change that ultimately attracts the woman of his dreams, and which gets him out of the seemingly endless cycle of re-playing Groundhog Day

And that, in a nutshell, is what the film is all about. In a unique way – the re-play of a day – it is a commentary on the need to be true and pure in our intentions to be able to get out of our rut and make any meaningful contribution to this world. I rate it ‘10′, and is one of my favorite movies of all time.

The discovery of a massive river of ectoplasm and a resurgence of spectral activity allows the staff of Ghostbusters to revive the business. add synopsis

Great plot, fab characters, brill movie sequel!

I saw this film before I saw the original, and found that on its own, it was a great movie. The story was original, but gripping, and there was plenty more comedy thrown in by Bill Murray than in the original. The problem with sequels is that people compare them to the magic and novelty of the original. Usually they are just as good, if not better. And if this film had been released on its own, it would have been as smash-hit as the original.

    “Caddyshack” Movie Review

    “Caddyshack” Plot Summary

An exclusive golf course has to deal with a brash new member and a destructive dancing gopher.

    Masterpiece!

In writing this review, I am not going to attempt to draft out a lengthy summary outlining the pro’s and cons of this film. I’m also not going to talk about plot structure or the boundaries of character development. Furthermore, I’m not going to analyze the social ramifications of this flick, or discuss it’s effect on society. An achievement such as this, does not require that much thought or labor. Anyone who would try to do so, is a moron (And most likely a fan of those crap-filled ‘Lord of the Ring’ movies). Instead, I’m going to state this single opinion, in the simplest possible terms: ‘Caddyshack’ is not the greatest film ever. Heck, it’s not even my favorite (‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’). But, when speaking of features in the comedic genre of film, it is without a doubt, an undebatable fact, that ‘Caddyshack’, is the funniest of all time! Many women will argue that point (my girlfriend being one of the them), and that’s quite all right. Because ‘Caddyshack’ isn’t designed to appeal to an estrogen-ladened mind. Any guy, however, who decides to ridicule ‘Caddyshack’, needs to immediately check his equipment, to make sure that’s it’s still intact, as ‘Caddyshack’ is truly the ultimate guy movie, suitable for exposition at any function where alcohol is being consumed. If you’ve seen it… see it again. If you’ve never had the pleasure, quit reading this darn review, and acquire it immediately.

    “Ghost Busters” Movie Review

    “Ghostbusters” Plot Summary

Three unemployed parapsychology professors set up shop as a unique ghost removal service.

    Comedy Classic

The 1980s was a decade known for its variety of unique entertainment, especially in film. As a child, I was raised on these movies, but none stand out more than that of Ghostbusters (1984). While not the most sophisticated piece of cinema to come out of that decade, it still stands as one of the most iconic. From the jumpsuits to the sigma, Ghostbusters made a permanent mark on popular entertainment. What makes the movie a classic comedy are not the iconic costumes and props, but the interactions between the Ghostbusters themselves

Each character has their own mold, which they fit into. Starting off, Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis) portrays a typical scientist; dry, humorless and an avid collector of spores, molds and fungus. Although also highly intelligent, Ray Stantz (Dan Akroyd) plays the dimwit of the group with a major lack in common sense or just sense in general. This is blatantly apparent during the scene which he purchases a junker car that needs a plethora of tune-ups and replacements, but only cost them $4800. Peter Venkmen, played by Bill Murray, is a sarcastic quick-wit who plays off both Egon’s seriousness and Ray’s stupidity. Winston Zeddmore (Ernie Hudson) completes the Ghostbuster team by being the new guy with zero experience in paranormal investigation, yet still manages to fit in due to the remainder of the team’s lack of professionalism

Despite their unprofessional methods, the Ghostbusters still make good business and Venkmen is even able to get a date with customer Dana Barrett (Sigourney Weaver). Things go awry though when Barrett is possessed by the evil demons haunting her apartment and from here, the movie takes off into a hilarious yet apocalyptic direction. This in itself is another reason why Ghostbusters is such a good comedy

Speaking for myself, when I hear terms such as ‘Armageddon’ or ‘Judgment Day,’ hilarity usually does not ensue. However, these elements are very prevalent yet the movie still garners countless laughs. This occurs for two reasons. The first being the brilliant script written by Harold Ramis and Dan Akroyd who, as mentioned before, star in the film. The second can be accredited to Bill Murray’s trademark smug, sarcastic persona. One moment which comes to mind when Murray portrays this ideally is when he shares quips with the demon possessed Barrett. Murray’s acting and mannerisms supply the comedic lifeblood to the script like no other actor could

As stated above, Ghostbusters is not the most serious of films, but during some parts it can be a little too corny. This is most apparent during the scene where the frightening demons are finally seen on screen in clay animation, also known as ‘claymation’. I realize the film came out before movies featured giant spectacular effects; however I think by 1984 other options existed. Another minor gripe I have with the film is the acting done by Weaver during her demon possessed state. I really do not know how someone is supposed to act in such a state, but the entire scene where Dana, while being demon possessed, was talking to Ray felt a bit awkward. Her heavy panting came off as more of a person suffering from an asthma attack than a hellacious demon. However, do not let these two minor complaints stop you from enjoying this classic comedy

Looking at the film with a realistic point of view, Ghostbusters is a movie about four men trying to prevent Judgment Day from occurring due to two people’s demonic possessions. In actuality, the movie is based around four guys who enjoy their job and make light of even the grimmest of situations. For those who disagree with this; I have only one statement: ‘Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.’

    “Year One” Plot Summary

Zed, a prehistoric would-be hunter, eats from a tree of forbidden fruit and is banished from his tribe… add synopsis

    Very Funny!!!

This was an extremely funny movie and had great gags, hilarious references to Biblical history, and much more! Jack Black was incredibly funny as a lazy hunter named Zed, and Michael Cera plays his friend who is a gatherer named Oh. When Zed is caught eating from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, he is banished from the tribe, but Oh decides to join him. They run into Cain and Able, meet Abraham, who is fixing to kill his son Isaac, stop Maya and Eema from becoming slaves, and much more! If you are a hardcore Christian, you may not like this movie, but it’s all in good fun! I highly recommend YEAR ONE!!!

    “Analyze This” Movie Review

    “Analyze This” Plot Summary

A comedy about a psychiatrist whose number one-patient is an insecure mob boss.

This is a must-see, light-hearted and ever so funny movie which will lift your spirit up

I don’t even know where to start. I don’t want to tell you much about this film because I don’t want to spoil it for you by giving you account of the funny scenes. Moreover, that would be quite impossible anyway as the film is simply funny all the way through. Sure I have my favourite scenes, one in particular, which make me laugh just thinking about them. Seriously, this is a comedy with a great story and many laughs. As a matter of fact, I really laughed all the way through, from start to finish

I want to recommend you to lighten up and simply relax when you decide to watch it. Let go of any expectations or judgements. Simply watch and let the movie entertain you. It might seem as an obvious thing to do but it is easy to slip into that judgemental and critical feeling however subtle it might be, which will spoil any movie for you not just this one

I highly recommend this movie if you want to lift you spirit up for whatever reason as this movie will do it for you. It is my favourite and I do hope that it will be your favourite too.
