“Into the Wild” Movie Review

“Into the Wild” Plot Summary

Oscar material

I watched this movie on the aeroplane after searching through the movie list and not finding anything else interesting to watch. I didn’t even know what the film was called until the ending credits. However, what I saw was amazing – the acting and scenery was excellent and the plot was thought provoking. More people should watch this to appreciate the message to us all. I was also surprised to see it was was actually a true story which made it even more interesting (I love films that are based on true stories). It is one of the best movies i’ve seen that portrays the contrast between a materialistic world vs the natural world that is at the core of the universe. This is a film that can easily be overlooked but not forgotten.

    “Men of Honor” Movie Review

    “Men of Honor” Plot Summary

The story of Carl Brashear, the first African American, then also the first amputee, US Navy Diver and the man who trained him.

    Pretty Good Film!

I think that this film is a good movie. There are some boring parts and some really good parts. Most of the time, I was attached to this movie. Everyone in this movie did a really good job

This film is based on the life of Carl Brashear. He was going to be first at two things. He was going to be the first black Navy diver and the first diver to dive with a prosthetic leg

The acting is really good. I liked Robert De Niro so much. He is a truly deserving actor and he showed what a great actor he is. I liked Cuba Gooding Jr. as Brashear. He gave a memorable performance

Overall, this film is a good movie. Some parts even moved me somewhat especially some scenes towards the end. This is a nice biographical movie. I rate this film 8/10.

    “Hercules” Movie Review

    “Hercules” Plot Summary

The son of the Greek Gods Zeus and Hera is stripped of his immortality as an infant and must become a true hero in order to reclaim it.

    This is fun.

Genre: Based on Greek myths, animation, relationships

Actors: Famous ones are Danny DeVito (Phil) and James Woods (Hades).

Main characters: Hercules, Zeus, Meg and Hades

What happens: Hercules is the son of the ALL POWERFUL Greek God Zeus. The day Hercules is born, he is captured and made mortal (only three of the characters know how this happens). Someone makes Hercules mortal and then he is adopted by mortal humans. This is only the beginningMessage: That you are a hero if you love as well as fight

My thoughts: I like this film. I think it has more of a potential of being liked to a 8-11 aged audience, as I liked it more than I do now at that age. I still like it because it is very fun, the animation is different, a little weird, but quite good! I also still like the characters, especially Meg and Phil and Hades is funny and I like funny baddies in Disney films. Of course I like all the good Greek Gods, they are somehow potentially likable. I used to like Pain and Panic (Hades’s servants) a lot when I was younger, but I’m starting to like them less now because I’m growing up and they are growing a little too silly for my liking. Also this film has a good share of slapstick AND wit in it for my entertainment. I also really like the songs, especially ‘Go The Distance’ and ‘I Won’t Say I’m In Love’ or whatever it’s called. My favourite character is Phil because I like his personality and he also looks kind of cute when he’s excited and happy when to most people he’s supposed to be quite UGLY (but I don’t agree with that). So I like this film! Recommended to: Mainly people who are aged 8-11, people who like animated Disney films and for people who like ‘fun’ films. Enjoy! :-)7 and a half out of 10.

    “Sgt. Bilko” Movie Review

    “Sergeant Bilko” Plot Summary

This movie is a remake of the hit series which starred, Phil Silvers as Sgt. Bilko. In this movie, Bilko… add synopsis

    I enjoyed it a lot

Steve Martin is larger than life in this very funny comedy. He plays the title character who is lazy, sleazy, clever and always one step ahead of everyone else he should be ahead of. He runs the motor pool like it would be run by someone from ‘Animal House’. They spend all their time gambling and sleeping it off

A new recruit (Darryl Mitchell, from ‘Galaxy Quest’ and ‘10 Things I Hate About You) does not understand his unprofessionalism as a military man so in some ways Darryl acts as the audience. Bilko has a girlfriend who is onto him but loves him in spite of herself. He constantly leaves her at the altar (‘I’m the only woman I know whose wedding dress is showing wear’) but its a game they play more than anything. Plot takes off when Phil Hartman shows up. He’s an old adversary of Bilko and wants to even an old score. He demands that Bilko and his men shape up and even starts romancing Bilko’s girlfriend, which of course drives Bilko crazy. Glenne Headley is perfectly cast as Bilko’s girlfriend. Unfortunately Phil Hartman is miscast and does not generate the laughs you’d hope for from this comic genius. Dan Ackroyd is very good too, but of course the movie belongs to Steve Martin. He’s an acquired taste, but so what. 8/10.

    “Killshot” Movie Review

    “Killshot” Plot Summary

Beautiful Carmen Colson and her ironworker husband Wayne are placed in the Federal Witness Protection program after witnessing an “incident”. Thinking they are at last safe, they are targeted by an experienced hit man and a psychopathic young upstart killer. The ensuing struggle will test Carmen to the limit. add synopsis

    One for Leonard fans

One of the best things about Elmore Leonard is that he is willing to plumb the depths of criminals’ stupidity. They are not, for the most part, very bright. Just think of the stupid criminals in Out of Sight and how sadly one of them ended his days

One review here said, c’mon, nobody can be that stupid. But that’s really the beauty of it. They can be. So it’s on display again here, starting with the Hal Holbrook character and his son-in-law. And the Mickey Rourke character, Blackbird, is not immune to this condition

So the humor is not slapstick, it’s a deeply ironic and cynical view of the underworld. This is not a great film, but it won’t disappoint Leonard fans. Diane Lane fans will also be happy, because she has a fair amount of screen time and some great wardrobe

Not sure whether this was filmed before or after Wrestler, but in any case Rourke or his agent are doing a good job in picking the right roles for his comeback. He was perfect for this.
