“Frost/Nixon” Movie Review

“Frost/Nixon” Plot Summary

A dramatic retelling of the post-Watergate television interviews between British talk-show host David Frost and former president Richard Nixon.

Absolutely Brilliant

As a teenager in Australia when Nixon resigned, I didn’t really understand the impact of his actions at the time. It’s only later that I’ve come to believe in his betrayal not just of American politics but of all democracies that have the same fundamental beliefs

So I went to see this film with some anticipation and was not disappointed. If Ron Howard was not considered a great director before, then surely he must be after this. The greatest problem with filming stage plays is overcoming the sense of ’staticness’. But Howard’s superb use of different camera techniques which allow both a sense of movement but do not distract from the stunning acting performances

Whilst Frank Langella is quite rightly getting a lot of attention for his remarkable performance (he manages to humanise Nixon, a feat I would have thought impossible), do not dismiss Michael Sheen’s mesmerising effort as David Frost. Both men inhabit their characters, not just play them

The support cast is excellent; Kevin Bacon reminds me of Eastwood at times and they are the best roles Oliver Platt and Sam Rockwell have had in a while

A masterpiece.

    “Finding Nemo” Plot Summary

A father-son underwater adventure featuring Nemo, a boy clownfish, stolen from his coral reef home. His timid father must then travel to Sydney and search Sydney Harbour to find Nemo. add synopsis

    Another Pixar Great!

Finding Nemo is a very good animated film, probably it’s in the top 10 animated features of all time. The story is about a little clown fish named Nemo. He ventures out into the open sea while not listening to his father. He gets captured by a dentist and now his father, marlin has to save him from the clutches of the dentist and his ‘evil’ niece. The story of the film is unbelievable. I don’t know how a movie about a fish can be very popular. The voice acting is pretty good. The all-star cast did a great job voicing their characters. The music in this film is sweet. The music will lure you more into the movie. The song in the film is great for people who like music 40 years ago. Once again, Pixar did not fail in its ability to make classic animated films. Overall, this is a very good film. I rate this movie 10/10.

    “Seven Pounds” Movie Review

    “Seven Pounds” Plot Summary

An IRS agent with a fateful secret embarks on an extraordinary journey of redemption by forever changing the lives of seven strangers.

This Mysterious Movie Will Stay With You

You spend most of this two-hour film wondering ‘what’s the story regarding the lead character?’ Will Smith, as a low-key ‘Ben Thomas’ will keep you guessing. The last 20-25 minutes is when you find out, and it’s a shocker….but you knew something dramatic was going to be revealed. Until then, Smith, plays it mysterious, almost stalking people. You know he has a good reason for doing it, but it’s never really explained, once again, to keep us guessing until the end

All of it, including a on again/off again but touching romance with Rosario Dawkins (‘Emily Posa’) might make some viewers frustrated or wanting to quit this film…..but don’t because the final long segment puts all the pieces of this puzzle together

This is a two-hour film and not the typical action-packed macho Will Smith film. In fact, the most shocking aspect might be seeing the drawn, sad face of Smith throughout this story. It almost doesn’t even look like him in a number of shots. He looks like he’s lost weight and is sick. Smith does a great job portraying a man carrying around a lot of sadness

Like a good movie will often do, this film will leave you thinking long after the ending credits.
