    “Lethal Weapon” Plot Summary

    A Definite Top 250 Movie

This ‘absolute classic’ film is ‘without doubt’ ‘one of’ the ‘best films’ ‘ever’!!! It really is a ‘fantastic film’ with moments of ‘pure joy’ and ‘awesome action’ that will ‘keep you at the edge of your seat/s’. I remember the first time I ever ‘thoroughly enjoyed’ this film. I was a ‘wee nipper’ back in ‘the day’. I was ’sat’ on my ‘own’ in the cinema (we used to call it ‘the pictures’) and I watched it from the ’start’ to the ‘very’ end. (including all of the credits, which were ‘excellent’ too). Then I watched it when it came ‘out’ on VHS (although we used to call it ‘video’ – tsssh! How silly were we??) and I remember ‘thoroughly enjoying’ it ‘all over again’. Afterwards, I turned to my Monkey, ‘Dave’ and said: ‘You know what, Dave?’ (He doesn’t say much back, ever, so I went on…) ‘I ‘thoroughly enjoyed’ watching that ‘film’ (or was it ‘movie’ I said??) ‘all over’ ‘again!’

    “Point Break” Movie Review

    “Point Break” Plot Summary

An FBI agent goes undercover to catch a gang of bank robbers who may be surfers.

    Loved it!

Just watched this movie again, and while on the surface it looks like a stereotypical action flick, and in some ways maybe it is, I was actually surprised how much I enjoyed it

There were a few things that were a little contrived, at least for a ‘cop movie.’ I don’t understand why the chief of police always has to be written as a jerk or why there is always those two arrogant cops that crack jokes all the time, etc. A minor gripe, however

I originally saw this movie in the 90s when it was newer. Now that it’s had time to age, it feels like a classic, and kept me yearning for those good old days when action films weren’t all about superheroes, redundant CGI usage and mindlessly drawn-out action scenes. They really don’t make ‘em like they used to. Everything is proportionate, the special effects are as real as they can be, and the characters grab hold of you. Why is character development seemingly so hard to find these days? Granted, I’m not a big Keanu Reeves fan, but it’s not necessarily the actors that make this movie. It’s everything about it. The story in this film is rock solid. It’s a thriller wrapped in a collage of fantastic cinematography and spectacle. The ocean and surfing scenes are beautifully shot, even artsy in a way. All in all, the story and the action are successfully interwoven to deliver a ‘pure adrenaline’ caper. It’s an interesting combination of human drama and extreme edginess, and yet it works.

    “Predator 2″ Movie Review

    “Predator 2″ Plot Summary

Amidst a territorial gang-war, a sophisticated alien hunter stalks the citizens of Los Angeles and the only man between him and his prey is veteran LAPD officer, Lieutenant Mike Harrigan. add synopsis

One of my all time favorite Sci-fi’s

I found this sequel to be much more complex and also more entertaining than the original. First of all the original revolves around Arnold S.(although I still find it to be Arnold’s best movie, and also like Carl Weathers and Sonny Landham) who is this 80’s action-man stereo-type one-dimensional feel-no-pain killing machine who nobody in their right mind can identify with and second the jungle is much too obvious a studio set.

The second Predator on the other hand is set in an anarchic future in the asphalt-jungle, midst a drug dealers-police violent confrontation(I loved the war-zone-city vision), and hunted by government agents(this being an excellent pretext to display some stylish shooting-techniques and unusual angles, and also explain the creature’s nature and motives) who want to capture the beast(Gary Busey-another brilliant performance) to study it for it’s killing potential. The voodoo-gang’s whole mystique, the hard music score, the attention for detail – the south-American influenced interior design of the drug-lord apartment or the interior of the alien ship(there are some hidden treats for the trained eye, like the alien skull and other interesting trophies) and not at least the creature’s design are just a few examples for the stylish quality of this much better than the original sequel. Danny Glover brings a touch of real to the tough but human lead character while Bill Paxton(bad-mouthed as always-I just love this guy in everything he’s done), Ruben Blades and Conchita Alonso are the flavor of this adrenalin ride. Keep out an eye for the color composition of virtually every scene – a treat. There’s no killing what can’t be killed…

“Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” Movie Review

“Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” Plot Summary

An oddball journalist and his psychopathic lawyer travel to Las Vegas for a series of psychadelic escapades.

One of the best movies ever made

I always love when I turn a person onto this movie. Too many people think this movie is just about drugs and the logic of a half crazy narcissist. It has a deep underlying tone that taps into the core of American culture. The evolution of a culture has to be violent, crass & revolutionary. This movie is that. This story takes place at the end of the civil rights movement where a blind and far too conservative America changes into something else. The narration where HS Thompson is talking about that ‘wave’ sums it up. What was going on in America when this story happened? The end of Vietnam, The Civil Rights Movement, Watergate, etc. Those who went along for the ride at that time wanted to change America. Maybe it didn’t turn out the way they really wanted but what do we have now that we didn’t have before? It’s not only socially acceptable to question authority, to not do so is Un-American. Thompson was the fulcrum in this. Before him journalism was too conservative. Thompson blew this away. He was everything that needed to push America into a new era. The best thing is that he makes no apologies for anything he did. He had to open that inner-eye. That is what this movie captures and it makes no apologies. Terry Gilliam, Johnny Depp were ‘Gonzo’ enough to make this movie and they did this in the most excellent form. Johnny Depp portrayal of Thompson conveyed the message of this story perfectly. The best part about the story was the fact that it never set out to be one, it just happened. Thompson was the underlying kick in the ass that America needed to look inward and see itself for what it really was. A movie that can be a literal time capsule of the reality of a specific culture is a beautiful thing. It is even better when it isn’t America trying to speak for another culture. This movie is the reality of America as dissected by an American. It looks at itself for what it is, like a naked person in a mirror. This movie will always be a favorite for me. Whenever I can expose someone else to this it’s more precious than a bought education. Watch the movie without a joint and go beyond the chaos. Watch this movie for what it is. If you have never read the book, get off your butt and do now! Gonzo forever!
