“Broken Flowers” Movie Review

“Broken Flowers” Plot Summary

As the devoutly single Don Johnston is dumped by his latest girlfriend, he receives an anonymous pink letter informing him that he has a son who may be looking for him. The situation causes Don to examine his relationships with women instead of moving on to the next one, and he embarks on a cross-country search for his old flames who might possess clues to the mystery at hand. add synopsis

Liked it

Jarmusch aims for the mainstream

Murray visits his ex-girlfriends to find out which of them sent him a letter

Similar in structure to The Swimmer – at the first people are friendly but gradually turn nasty. Watchable movie with many good scenes – sometimes you feel sorry for Murray but other times you feel sorry for the women he visits. The best scene has Murray visiting a nervous childless woman and her husband – very nice couple. Similar to many independent American movies of recent years – but more enjoyable

Broken Flowers is worth a look.

    “The Aviator” Movie Review

    “The Aviator” Plot Summary

A biopic depicting the early years of legendary director and aviator Howard Hughes’ career, from the late 1920s to the mid-1940s.

One of the best movies of the century

I only really like 3 movies, and this is one of them. I think this is an amazing movie. It was compelling, and captured my emotions within the first ten minutes. I just love everything about it-the story, the music, the acting, and the way it was filmed in general. Howard Hughes was such an amazing figure in history, and I think this movie captured the main sides of him, portraying him as the genius and billioniare that he was without leaving out or dwelling too much on what he became in his later years. If you haven’t seen this movie, you are missing out. I don’t know a lot about filming, but whoever directed this is probably one of the greatest directors of our time.

“The Tale of Despereaux” Movie Review

“The Tale of Despereaux” Plot Summary

The tale of three unlikely heroes – a misfit mouse who prefers reading books to eating them, an unhappy rat who schemes to leave the darkness of the dungeon, and a bumbling servant girl with cauliflower ears – whose fates are intertwined with that of the castle’s princess.

    We loved it.

The movie was Excellent. My son who is 2 1/2 was just so into it and not scared. They are just rats. Why is everyone so sensitive?! A lot of cartoons have animals that scare people in real life like snakes. Besides, based on personal experience, there was friend who would not let her son watch Ratatouille because of the rats, but then let him watch Dark Knight, hmmm? The mouse was so cute. I really enjoyed that this cartoon finally took a turn from what is usually out there. Right now we are stationed in Germany and the Europeans have a lot more cartoons like this. The graphics are just nicer. I do not have a problem with watching cartoons as long as they are not weird like the standard ones on TV today. For example, the digital mickey mouse. They are just not natural enough. I hope that many people will cherish this cartoon and go back to what used to be traditional Disney style and cartoons.

“Scent of a Woman” Movie Review

“Scent of a Woman” Plot Summary

A prep school student needing money agrees to “babysit” a blind man, but the job is not at all what he anticipated. add synopsis

Good story, brilliant acting, what more do you want?

This movie once again proves that Pacino is one of the greatest actors of our time and that we all should be very glad he choose to portray Colonel Frank Slade in ‘Scent of a woman’, no one else could have done it. The story of ‘Scent of a woman’ stands and falls with Pacino’s acting and the bringing alive of his character. It’s touching and makes you smile and leaves you behind with the feeling that you’ve just have had the pleasure of meeting Colonel Frank Slade, a crazy but interesting man. Chris O’Donnell does what he has to do, he gives Pacino the opportunity to shine and triggers the story. The interaction between him and Pacino does the job and provides us with great lines. Overall a great movie. I give this one a 8 out of 10.
