“Wrestler” Movie Review

“Wrestler” Plot Summary

A faded professional wrestler must retire, but finds his quest for a new life outside the ring a dispiriting struggle.

Amazing

I had no doubt in my mind that this movie was going to be great. I watched it a couple weeks back, and my god..It’s a work of art, I tell you.

I have never really seen many films with Mickey Rourke, that I remember. I had never really paid any attention to him, until now. He is an amazingly gifted actor. I cannot see anyone else being as right for that part, as he was.

I will be watching this movie again and again. Even if you’re not a wrestling fan, it doesn’t matter..It’s an amazingly, well done movie.

Go see it! 10/10

    “The Bodyguard” Movie Review

    “The Bodyguard” Plot Summary

A former Secret Service agent takes on the job of bodyguard to a pop singer, whose lifestyle is most unlike a President’s.

    Great movie

Has everything. Whitney acts better than Costner, but great story and well made

    Loved the references to Yojimbo

Good country scenes with the father from the Waltons. The characters rang true

The jealousy of Rachel’s sister rang true and added another dimension to the movie

And then there is the music. Incredible. Made the best use of Whitney’s voice. Most movies age, but in 2009 it still felt contemporary.1 point dropped for Costner’s acting. He is wooden in a number of scenes and doesn’t seem to choose the best delivery for each line.

    “Across the Universe” Movie Review

    “Across the Universe” Plot Summary

The music of the Beatles and the Vietnam War form the backdrop for the romance between an upper-class American girl and a poor Liverpudlian artist.

    excellent and artistic film

This film is extraordinary. It is extremely artistic, thought provoking, and has substance. It may not be for everyone. If you have no sense of over laying, or collage, or recognizing parallel stories from history repeating themselves, you may not connect with it. But I found this film to be over the top creative and entertaining. Since I grew up in the 60’s, and I appreciate the music of the Beatles, there was a personal connection to all of it. A lot of fun yet deep emotions were brought to the surface. I know a creative mind when I see one and Taymor and her collaborators are a ‘10′ in this regard. I will see it again.

    “S1m0ne” Movie Review

    “Simone” Plot Summary

A producer’s film is endangered when his star walks off, so he decides to digitally create an actress to substitute for the star, becoming an overnight sensation that everyone thinks is a real person.

    Brilliant Movie

I avoided this movie because the last comedy I saw Al Pacino in was ‘Scent of a Woman’ and despite his academy award performance, I didn’t enjoy the film. I was expecting this film to be one of those sad, embarrassing September-May romance movies where an aging 60-ish actor seduces a beautiful woman half or one-third his age

I was immediately surprised that this film was totally different. It was laugh-out-loud funny and wonderfully weird. lt is not a romantic comedy, but a great satire on technology and fame. The woman that Pacino does romance is at least 45, so that aspect of the movie was handled with reasonableness and sensitivity

In my opinion the film is also a satire on Christianity. Here, just as there, a made-up character becomes such a big star that masses of people believes more in that fictional person’s existence than their own

    Don’t miss it.

    “Philadelphia” Movie Review

    “Philadelphia” Plot Summary

When a man with AIDS is fired by a conservative law firm because of his condition, he hires a homophobic small time lawyer as the only willing advocate for a wrongful dismissal suit.

    Rich, Compelling, Deep, Magnificent Film!!

Before I saw this movie I rated Tom Hanks as a competent actor, always consistent and dedicated to his craft. Roles that stood out for me where undoubtedly Forrest Gump and of course The Green Mile. I came into this movie knowing absolutely nothing about the plot, characters whether it was popular or how widely known it was. My house mate had rented it out, and left it sitting on the table. I picked it up and looking at the cover saw Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington staring back. Of course with two solid and professional actors like that your pretty much guaranteed a movie of a certain standard. But still I was hesitant about watching it thinking it must be some already overdone story about two strong interesting characters coming into and then overcoming some obstacles, providing views on life and such along the way.

I can’t believe I almost didn’t watch this movie. I wont tell you anything about the plot or the story. Because even though the plot is interesting and the story relevant, you’ll have seen it done a hundred times in other movies, television or literature. The reason you will want to see this movie will be to witness Tom Hanks sink his teeth so deep into a role that he will make Forest Gump look like a training exercise. Not that it overshadows it, the opposite in fact, seeing him capable of this extraordinary performance only leaves you wondering, if you didn’t already, how you didn’t see before what a remarkable actor he is. If I have led you to believe that this film offers nothing more than Hank’s incredible performance then that is not my intention. The film itself is staggeringly magnificent, see for yourself and let the film take you in and Tom Hanks leave you breathless.

    “Scary Movie 4″ Plot Summary

Cindy finds out the house she lives in is haunted by a little boy and goes on a quest to find out who killed him and why. Also, Alien “Tr-iPods” are invading the world and she has to uncover the secret in order to stop them.

    Funnier than Scary Movie 2

Scary Movie 4, the direct sequel to Scary Movie 3 (both movies are by director David Zucker and this time around with his longtime film-making friend Jim Abrahams of Naked Gun fame who helped pen this script). This time they spoof such films as The Village, Saw, War of the Worlds, The Grudge, Brokeback Mountain and also Tom Cruise’s Oprah incident. It’s really amazing how the filmmakers are able to bring together all these different films into a somewhat coherent screenplay, which borders on funny to average (though there are a few hilarious moments – such as when Cindy is ‘cleaning’ Mrs. Norris). Returning are Scary Movie alums Anna Faris as the ever funny Cindy Campbell and Regina Hall as the hilarious Brenda Meeks. Also returning from Scary Movie 3 are Leslie Neilsen as President Harris (he’s still great at 80 years of age!), Simon Rex as George, and Charlie Sheen as Tom Logan). Also returning from Scary Movie 1 though in a different role is Carmen Elektra! Though the Scary Movie formula is starting to run thin, it’s still great to see this type of slapstick comedy out there.
