“Secret Window” Plot Summary
A writer is accused for plagiarism by a strange man, who then starts haunting him for “justice.”
i love this movie!
i love this movie, its great for the simple fact that Stephen king wrote the basic story line . the movie is pretty close cut from the book with a few exceptions like in the book he drinks Pepsi and in the movie he drinks mountain dew(or maby its the other way around) but other then a few things like that its pretty true to the masterpiece that is any Stephen king work, if u liked movies like psycho and identity u will love secret window because of the mind boggling psychological turn of all rational thought into a twilight zone that can only be described as the human mind when at its best and most vulnerable state.the fact that king opens eyes to the part of the brain that is only slightly touched in movies like red dragon(also awesome). definitely watch this movie if u like psychology related horror!

“World’s Greatest Dad” Movie Review
“World’s Greatest Dad” Plot Summary
A comedy about a man who learns that the things you want most may not be the things that make you happy, and that being lonely is not necessarily the same as being alone.
Nice Black Comedy for Williams and Bobcat
World’s Greatest Dad (2009) *** (out of 4) One of the blackest of all black comedies features Robin Williams as Lance, a failed teacher, failed boyfriend and failed father to an obnoxious pervert (Daryl Sabara) who masturbates too much, is hated by everyone and who has no real purpose in life. After a tragedy and a lie the father must then come to terms with something that I won’t ruin here. When people think of Goldthwait, 99% of them are going to think of the crazy guy from the POLICE ACADEMY films and only 1% are going to know him as a filmmaker. SHAKES THE CLOWN has gained a cult following over the years and there’s no doubt that this film will eventually be looked at as not a great movie but one that after watching you’ll want to stand up and applaud the filmmakers for delivering something completely original and different. It’s hard to really describe this movie because it’s best that you go into it without knowing all of the details and how we get to the events in the second half. I’m sure you could show this movie to a hundred people and each one of them would walk away feeling the movie was about something different. I think the film certainly shines the spotlight on parenthood, teen suicide and how we worship celebs and how those celebs even become famous. The movie has so many layers that people are going to take different things away from it but I really respected the comedy of the first half and then the drama of the second. The first half of the movie is full of vulgar situations as the loser son offends one person after another and the viewer can’t help but hate him. There’s never an attempt to make us like him and that’s usually not a good thing in a comedy if you hate the leading man. We’re not even given a reason to like the father played by Williams, although I’m sure one could feel sorry for him because of how big of a loser he is to everyone around him. If you do find yourself caring for him then that might change after the events in the second half of the movie. Everyone was informed about Williams and his full frontal nudity but more people should really look at his terrific performance. I guess raw might be a simple word but the entire Williams persona is cleaned away and we’re seeing a performance from him that we haven’t seen before. I’ve always felt that he was a better dramatic actor than a comedic one but he handles both sides extremely well here. Sabara is just as great as the perverted son and Alexie Gilmore is wonderful as Williams’ girlfriend. The film hits on all sorts of rather taboo subjects but for the most part is looks them directly in the face and doesn’t back down. I’m sure the subject matter might be too much for certain film fans but I think those looking for a rather brave and original piece of film-making is going to at least respect what we get here even if they find themselves feeling uncomfortable.

“Casino Royale” Plot Summary
In his first mission, James Bond must stop Le Chiffre, a banker to the world’s terrorist organizations, from winning a high-stakes poker tournament at Casino Royale in Montenegro.
Bond with a touch of the the Bourne supremacy
I saw this at a special premiere and i was amazed. having never been a Bond fan i wasn’t really expecting much from this. After watching Brosnans invisible car in the previous incarnation I thought it could only get worse. How wrong was I! this film is gritty and sharp. the dialogue is sharp and well thought out with Daniel Craig being the DEFINITIVE Bond. He exudes confidant menace. They have gone back to basics with this Bond ie character and dialogue driven and not thankfully gadget driven. Not only is it the best bond film out so far its one of the years best films out. They have borrowed some elements from the Bourne series of films which is long overdue on the franchise, more realistic fight sequences and with Daniel Craig actually looking like a physically capable man instead of the middle aged paunch of Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan who both quite frankly couldn’t beat up a Ritz cracker.

“The Talented Mr. Ripley” Plot Summary
In late 1950’s New York, Tom Ripley, a young underachiever, is sent to Europe to retrieve a rich and spoiled millionaire playboy, named Dickie Greenleaf. But when the errand fails, Ripley takes extreme measures.
Elegant, literary thriller
THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY Aspect ratio: 1.85:1Sound formats: Dolby Digital / DTSWhilst in Italy, a young American chancer (Matt Damon) assumes the identity of a wealthy playboy (Jude Law) with whom he’s become emotionally obsessed, leading to murder and betrayal on a grand scale
Elegant, literary thriller based on the novel by Patricia Highsmith (the subject of an earlier adaptation, PLEIN SOLEIL, in 1960), in which sociopathic anti-hero Tom Ripley (Damon) cheats, steals and murders his way to a position of huge good fortune, leaving a trail of devastation in his wake. Set against the backdrop of tourist Italy – encompassing Rome and Venice and all points in between – Anthony Minghella’s film is a compelling treat from start to finish, layering detail upon detail as Damon’s friendship with Law blossoms and sours, leading to an inevitable plot twist which introduces a whole new set of complications for the central characters, rendering the audience complicit in Ripley’s escalating crime wave
Damon may seem a little too young and unworldly for such a complex character, but he judges the role with great sensitivity, especially in those scenes where (overtly or otherwise) he indicates a sexual attraction to Law which goes unreciprocated (or does it?), until the characters are driven apart by jealousy, bitterness and – ultimately – violence. His fantasies shattered by harsh reality, Damon finds solace in the arms of a mutual acquaintance (Jack Davenport), the only person capable of taking Law’s place in Damon’s affections, only for their chance of happiness to be snatched away by a cruel trick of fate. Terrific, Oscar-caliber support by Gwyneth Paltrow and Philip Seymour Hoffman (as Law’s fiancee and best friend, respectively); beautiful, classy production values throughout. Followed by RIPLEY’S GAME (2002).

“Deja Vu” Movie Review
“Deja Vu” Plot Summary
An ATF agent travels back in time to save a woman from being murdered, falling in love with her during the process.
Washington and Brokheimer, a winning combination
Deja Vu is a high-action, crime-drama, sci-fi, thriller which is exactly what you would expect from Jerry Bruckheimer, producer of such action-adventures as ‘Con Air,’ ‘Enemy of the State,’ ‘National Treasure,’ ‘Pirates of the Caribbean,’ and another Denzel Washington favorite, ‘Remember the Titans.’ The story opens with an explosion on board a New Orleans Ferry, and takes the audience back through an unfolding of events that leads up to the tragic scene. Even the most modern technology hasn’t gone as far as the storyline takes us. The premise is thrilling and the implications stimulate the imagination. For example; ‘how would altering the past impact people and events of the present?’ The acting is superb, with Denzel Washington and Paula Patton as romantic leads. James Caviezel does an extraordinary job as the villain, which is a departure from his role as Jesus in ‘The Passion of the Christ.’ There is plenty of action and some of it violent. Be prepared to see a few corpses like those on television’s ‘CSI’ or ‘Crossing Jordon.’ There are gun fights, but with a minimum of blood. While the movie is certainly intense, much of the severe action is implicit and takes place off camera. For an action packed, PG-13 movie, I was particularly impressed with the limited amount of rough language. I imagine with Denzel and James in the cast, there was an effort to keep it ‘clean.’ This is one of the few remaining Touchstone Pictures releases. Parent company, Walt Disney Studios is committed to producing action movies that appeal to a wider family audience. We’re awarding ‘Deja Vu’ the Dove Family-Approved Seal at for audience members over age 12.(www.dove.org) Parents should look over the violent content issues before deciding whether to bring tweens along.

“Kramer Versus Kramer” Plot Summary
A just divorced man must learn to care for his son on his own, and then must fight in court to keep custody of him. add synopsis
A fine movie
No, this has nothing to do with the sitcom ‘Seinfeld’ or its eccentric and hilarious character Cosmo Kramer. In reality, ‘Kramer vs. Kramer’ is a fine drama movie, without a doubt one of the finest of its kind and one of the greatest movies ever. I’m glad that it won more Oscars than ‘Apocalypse Now’ because it really deserved such glory.’Kramer vs. Kramer’ is an excellent film, so well made and so perfectly balanced that I wouldn’t change anything about it in any way. There is nothing wrong with the film. It’s film-making of the highest quality. And it stands the test of time, too. Not only it doesn’t look any dated, but also its cultural impact is long-lasting and its realistic story remains just as significant as it was when it came out in 1979. A timeless classic. They don’t make movies like this today
This movie is dramatic, realistic, simple but brilliant, intense, powerful, sweet and even tragic and depressing sometimes. Yet, it has fine humor as well. It has no special effects, but who cares? This is not the movie or place to discuss such thing. For a movie like this, such thing would be pointless and absolutely unnecessary
The story is very interesting. The actors’s chemistry is just perfect. All of the actors are great, but the 3 main ones are the very best. Dustin Hoffman, a brilliant actor, has his greatest performance ever here as the lovable but distant workaholic Ted Kramer. Meryl Streep is great as Ted’s wife, Joanna. And cute little Justin Henry is terrific as the loving but sometimes stubborn Billy, son of Ted and Joanna
The soundtrack is all instrumental and wonderful. The opening song (by the guitarist Frederic Hand) is brilliant. The rest of the soundtrack is mostly Antonio Vivaldi’s classical music and is simply dazzling
This motion picture has also an incredible development of the characters. See the character Ted Kramer: a workaholic who becomes an amazing father after being left with no choice but to take care of his son, trying to adjust these new responsibilities with his job after being left by his wife Joanna. With this, Ted learns about the most beautiful things in life, but also realizes how though life is, with the problems in his job and the return of Joanna, who wants the custody of their son. But even Joanna changes for better and the ending is an unexpected surprise when one sees this for the first time
This movie has also some though things, such as courtroom scenes where both Ted and Joanna face brutal character assassinations unleashed by the lawyers. Another though thing to see is when poor Billy falls off a jungle gym with his toy (a plane) and gets seriously injured on his face. But then again, the scene is very well made and what comes next is very intense: his father runs quickly and crosses numerous blocks, ignoring the traffic to take his son to the hospital
Overall, this is a movie which is a good lesson of life
This should definitely be on Top 250.

Better than the first!
I for one was not totally blown away by the first Spider-Man film. Yes, it is a good comic to film, but somehow I just didn’t get caught up in all the hoopla. That was changed with Spider-Man 2. This film took the successful elements from the first (character and acting) and pushed it up another notch
We were given again only 1 new villain, this saved much needed time to flesh out Peter Parker/Spider-Man as well as further the other story lines going on with those surrounding Peter. The struggle that Peter goes through; should he or shouldn’t he sacrifice his life for others, is handled beautifully here. You feel that struggle. He may be a ’superhero’, but he is still just a kid trying to sort out his life. A life that seems to sucker punch him every single day. I thought this was the most logical step to take the franchise after the introduction in the first. The special effects this time were much improved over the first. Many times I was taken out of the moment in the first film because the effects looked to much like effects and were not natural. That is still a problem from time to time here again, but by in large a much better outing
Story, performances, effects, all were improved in the 2nd installment, something we just don’t see happen a lot. One of the best comic to film productions ever in my opinion.

“Star Trek VIII: First Contact” Plot Summary
Capt. Picard and his crew pursue the Borg back in time to stop them from preventing Earth from initiating first contact with alien life. add synopsis
Great Movie, Read Brief Review
I have to start off by saying, that I am a Startrek buff. I LOVE everything there is to do with Startrek, and have viewed every episode of TNG and DS9 ever aired. I have also seen every Startrek movie created, and could name at least 50 people that resided on the Enterprise during TNG (not necessarily the entire show, some moved on, died, etc.).I feel that this was probably tied for the best Startrek movie ever created. I feel that First Contact and Generations are the best two ever created. This movie combines a lot of action, as well as realistic predicament, and very realistic scenarios. This certainly fit into the storyline as plausible, and never once made you ask how did this happen
The short-version of this review is that the film was extremely successful, and very good quality. It had good acting, a great storyline, and pretty good special effects. It also had some nice upgrades to ship and uniforms that look absolutely fabulous, that almost make me want to wear one all the time! Great movie for Startrek and Scifi fans. This movie would be a good movie for any Scifi fan, with an easy storyline to follow, that doesn’t require much previous TNG knowledge to follow
Below is a long, drawn out commentary. If you haven’t seen the movie yet, don’t read further. I have worked hard to keep it spoiler free, and have made notations on most of my information, of how it was already available from the series, so that it is not considered spoiler material. Nonetheless, if you haven’t seen it, view it, and then read my opinion, and see what you think first.***Below might contain references to the movie, but they are not anywhere close to spoilers. Just the same, wanted to give fair warning
The storyline is that the Borg invade the Federation, and attack Earth. They go back in time, to perform a mission. (This much was stated on the back of the cover, so no spoilers there.) I often wondered, back when TNG was on the air, if the Borg would try and do this during the series. It was very plausible, because we know the power of the Borg, and we know that we would be no match for them. The only thing that could have given us an advantage, would have been Captain Picard, due to his experience with being assimilated during the series. Also, we already knew that time travel was possible, and that the Borg were experimenting with it. So, that does not leave us with any jumps in logic
The movie was well written, acted, and directed. First off, tip of the hats to the costume and set designers. I LOVED the new uniforms, and thought that they were certainly much better looking than standard red, yellow, and blue ones from the show. Also, the new ship looked very realistic (again, we knew the Enterprise D was destroyed, so it only made sense to have a new ship built, and included in the movie). The actors put a lot of hard work into it, and it shows. I especially want to say good job to Brent Spiner, as he did an excellent job on data, acting the part, which you will understand once you watch the movie. Also, worth mentioning was the actor that played Zephram Cochran (I can’t remember the name off of the top of my head). He performed well, made the character seem very realistic for the personality portrayed. Another comment on the characters would have to be about ‘Lily’. I feel that the first part of the character, when she has the little fainting spell, was scripted and acted very well, but the script has her dealing with her ’situation’, a lot better than she should have. Even a strong character would have been a bit more reluctant to do what she did. I think that she took it a bit too well, but that is certainly not a major thing, and it’s only my opinion
I would like to also say that the special effects were pretty good, especially for the resources that they used.***Random Knowledge Tidbit: The green plate used on assimilation tables in all of the Borg ships during TNG, were actually store-bought electric lamps. They were the same as the ones that you can buy in the store, that are sensitive to touch, sound, etc. These are the ones that pulse out electricity, similar to the electric balls that have flowing strands of electricity touching the globe, but on a flat plate instead.

“The Hurt Locker” Movie Review
“The Hurt Locker” Plot Summary
Iraq. Forced to play a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse in the chaos of war, an elite Army bomb squad unit must come together in a city where everyone is a potential enemy and every object could be a deadly bomb.
One of the best war films of the past 25 years…
Gut-wrenching, pulse-pounding, out of this world tension, just mere exterior descriptions of what Kathryn Bigelow’s new film, The Hurt Locker is. Written by Mark Boal, The Hurt Locker overflows with intensity, passion, and reverence. In the wake of 9/11, filmmakers have struggled to create a piece that is socially accepted and respected. Only two films have succeeded in this task over the past eight years; Paul Greengrass’ beautiful United 93, depicting an open interpretation of the final moments of the doomed plane and now, Bigelow’s film will join the short, elite list
This character-driven tale tells the stories of three army soldiers who are a part of the most dangerous of jobs to offer in the military, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), in plainer terms, they disarm bombs. Staff Sergeant William James played ferociously by Jeremy Renner heads up this story as a soldier facing death every moment of the day. With his wife and child at home and often displaying unorthodox behavior, James seems fit for a war soldier. Sergeant JT Sanborn, played by Anthony Mackie is a by-the-book man, living his days at war while incurring losses along the way. Specialist Owen Eldridge played by Brian Geraghty is young, bewildered, and thrust into a situation unknowing of the impact it would have. What these three men bring to their respective roles educates the viewer of the horrors of war. Forget what you think you know on CNN and your local news, Bigelow is running the show with Boal out on assignment and Renner, Mackie, and Geraghty as our anchors. The crews of the picture are the tools in building this powerful vessel. Cinematographer Barry Ackroyd uses his four camera use to keep us feeling like a first-person account of the events of the film. The mesh of Marco Beltrami & Buck Sanders score and the sound effects team makes for a more suspenseful experience. Filming in Jordan was the choice of Bigelow to give it a more authentic feel. ‘If you’re going to make a film about the Middle East, make it in the Middle East.’ Bigelow said to me after the film. It paid off big time because I always felt like I was there in the battle zone, enduring pain, torment, and dehydration. With a NY & LA release set for Friday, June 26th, The Hurt Locker’s deserves all the praise its been receiving and should be experienced by any movie lover. The Oscar Prospects might look a little grim based on the summer release but with no real first-half of 2009 contenders, Bigelow and her film have strong chances of taking a spot amongst the final five come end of the year. Renner and Mackie will also be strong contenders in their respective categories. The strongest possibility for an Oscar has to be for writer Mark Boal. The research he did for the film alone will keep Boal in the minds of voters. The Hurt Locker’s striking cinematography, crisp editing that keeps it at a heart palpating pace, strong performances, directing, and writing is enough to take this film in consideration for your viewing. Brilliant, simply brilliant.****/****
