It’s Great to see Angelina Jolie in the role of Lara Croft

I like Lara Croft. I like Angelina Jolie playing the role of Lara Croft and I liked all the special effects they used to make this movie. Movie is entertainingly good. I wished Jolie considered playing a third part, but she already declared she won’t do it again. ‘Two Tomb Raiders is enough’ I hope she changes her mind.

    Great film

Whatever normandbutter may say, this movie is wonderful. Everybody is beautifully cast, and they are all believable. Ed Speleers gives a wonderful performance for his first time acting, and it is another great performance from Jeremy Irons. Those who don’t like it shouldn’t be on this website, because if you don’t like something then there’s no reason to go to a web page dedicated to it. See this movie, it is beautifully done and if you buy the two disk special edition, watch all of the second disk, it will give you a greater appreciation for it. I own the two disk special edition, and after watching everything from the movie to how they made Saphira fly, I wanted to watch it again and again.

    “Constantine” Movie Review

    “Constantine” Plot Summary

Based on the DC/Vertigo comic book Hellblazer and written by Kevin Brodbin, Mark Bomback and Frank Capello, Constantine tells the story of irreverent supernatural detective John Constantine (Keanu Reeves), who has literally been to hell and back.

    Excellent fantasy/horror movie

I’ve seen Constantine three times and I enjoy it more each time I watch it! It is truly well-done and extremely entertaining, and I can guarantee that if you like horror, suspense and/or fantasy you will love this movie! Keanu Reeves plays a very cool Constantine, who is a modern-day exorcist but most certainly not to be confused with a priest, as he has his issues and a burden of sins from his past that he carries with him. Constantine is a very realistic and human hero who is devoid of superpowers but has all the cool gadgets and the kick-ass attitude needed to survive in a world slowly being invaded by demons and scheming angels. He meets Angela (Rachel Wiesz) after she loses her sister, Isabel to the forces of evil. She comes to Constantine in search of an answer on where Isabel has ended up following her apparent suicide. Constantine journeys to other realms/dimensions in an attempt to get those answers, even paying a couple of visits to hell. Needless to say, with such a plot the special effects, acting, sets, script and even wardrobe have to be carefully conceived and executed to make it believable, and they are… in spades

Constantine achieves what all great movies always do: it takes you into another world that makes you forget everything about your own world the whole time you are watching it. And really, in the end, isn’t that what great cinema is all about?

    “Push” Movie Review

    “Push” Plot Summary

Two young Americans with special abilities must race to find a girl in Hong Kong before a shadowy government organization called Division does. |

    Very Enjoyable Action-Packed Sci-Fi Film

I had wanted to watch this film since I saw the trailer, but I missed the original theatrical run earlier this year. Luckily, there was a short return engagement in the theater this past week so I was finally able to watch as I planned, on the big screen.

The premise is very interesting. Chris Owen is Nick, a Mover who can move objects with his mind. Dakota Fanning is Cassie who is a Watcher who can see into the future. They join forces to help find Kira who is a Pusher, one who can control other peoples’ thoughts, and protect her from the shady US government agency called the Division.

It is like another incarnation of the X-Men with good guys and bad guys with very powerful psychic powers. We also meet Bleeders (who can scream so shrilly that blood vessels can burst), Sniffs (who can track people by smelling objects they used), Shifters (who can temporarily change perception of objects), Wipers (who can erase memories), Shadows (who can hide people around them from detection) and Stitchers(who can cure or cause injuries).

The movie is quite enjoyable to watch for its adrenaline rush. The main actors are all very good, especially Owen and Fanning. The action sequences are all very imaginatively conceived and executed. The plot is intricate and clever. They did not ignore the importance of the story behind the great special effects. When you watch this, don’t think too deeply and just enjoy the ride. It is certainly worth the time spent.

    “Amistad” Plot Summary

About a 1839 mutiny aboard a slave ship that is traveling towards the northeastern coast of America. Much of the story involves a court-room drama about the free man who led the revolt. add synopsis

A beautiful film about the struggle to keep our most basic rightfreedom

This film is so moving, I’m having trouble coming up with the appropriate words to describe it. It goes without saying that Spielberg’s direction is nothing short of spectacular. I was thoroughly engrossed in the movie throughout. The realism of the scenes on the slave ship speak volumes. And the performances given by Matthew McConaughey and Anthony Hopkins were some of the best of their respective careers. And Djimon Hounsou (Cinque) touched me to the core depths of my heart. The conversation between him and his friend about the Bible was particularly poignant. But I could go on for pages and still not say enough about this film

VERDICT: An emotional and heart-wrenching film that has the power to move the most cynical of hearts. HIGHLY recommended to all.9.0 out of 10.0

    “Stargate” Movie Review

    “Stargate” Plot Summary

An interstellar teleportation device, found in Egypt, leads to a planet with humans resembling ancient Egyptians who worship the god Ra. add synopsis

    Greatly made movie!

This is the sort of movie that shouldn’t had really worked out but yet it did. Everything about this movie screams B-movie. Just look at the title, read the script, see the characters, the cast, etcetera. Yet ‘Stargate’ works out tremendously fine as great and above all fine entertainment. It’s for most part due to the fine directing skills of Roland Emmerich, show really knows to uplifts this movie and its story. This movie also really marked the big breakthrough for Roland Emmerich. Yes, it’s true that his real breakthrough movie was ‘Moon 44′ and even though that movie was by no means a great one, it still showed that the director had lots of potential and took the maximum out of the movie. So, ‘Moon 44′ got him Hollywood’s attention but with ‘Stargate’ he for the first time really proofs that he can handle a multi-million dollar production as well and successfully, since ‘Universal Soldier’ was only a successful movie in certain circles. If it weren’t for ‘Stargate’, then now way we would had had movies such as ‘Independence Day’, ‘The Patriot’ and ‘The Day After Tomorrow’. Some people wouldn’t had minded that by the way

Even though the story itself is not that much special, it still has a great and original as well as an intriguing concept, that somehow knows to connect an alien world to ancient Egypt and their Gods. It’s a great science-fiction story without ever really getting too ’science-fiction’ like. It’s uses lots of great and imaginative elements

Once you start really thinking about it, there isn’t an awful lot happening in this movie, mostly action wise. Yet it’s a very entertaining movie to watch, which is due to the fact that it’s made with lots of pace and because of it’s greatly and perfectly adventurous concept of traveling to a far off planet. It’s a movie that never bores and is a perfectly fun one to watch actually. The movie gets also really uplifted by its David Arnold musical score

The movie is fair enough looking. For 1994 standards the special effects are good, especially for the masks worn by the ‘Gods’. But because the movie is for most part set in a dessert like environment it’s not really one that jumps out in its looks and actually also really doesn’t looks and feels like a multi-million dollar production, even though it is. The movie actually looks and feels more cheap, which is also one of the reasons why this movie has already become a sort of a cult-classic

The movie is greatly cast with James Spader and Kurt Russell in the lead roles. But man, did James Spader look still so much different and younger back then. He’s just not the kind of person that aged well. He went from a boyish look in 1994 to an old dirty wrinkly man look now days, even though he’ll turn only just 48 next month. Also greatly cast was Jaye Davidson as Ra. He’s a true memorable villain and it makes you realize what a great shame it is that Jaye Davidson has never acted in many movies, simply just because he never really enjoyed acting much, despite having also received an Oscar nomination for his debut role in ‘The Crying Game’.Truly a recommendable science-fiction classic from the ’90’s.8/10

    “The Island” Movie Review

    “The Island” Plot Summary

A man goes on the run after he discovers that he is actually a “harvested being”, and is being kept along with others in a utopian facility.

    Good Action Thriller

I saw the movie at the Detroit red carpet premiere on Monday, July 18. In attendance were Michael Clarke Duncan and Djimon Hounsou

The movie reminded me very much of Total Recall and The Matrix, not only with the plot line, but with its intensity. This was a very good summer action thriller. It was a little slow at first but once Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson’s characters discovered that they were clones, the action picked up immensely

I was a little surprise about the lack of time Duncan was in the movie. Hounsou did a fabulous job as the hired gun. I am not a Ewan McGregor fan but I think he did a great job as Lincoln Six Echo and Tom Lincoln, especially when both Six Echo and Lincoln were in the same scenes together. Johansson looked good on the screen but her dialogue was limited

Steve Buscemi did an funny job in his supporting role as McCord, the human buddy of Lincoln Six Echo. The scene when Johansson’s character, Jordan Two Delta, and McCord go through McCord’s closet to find some normal clothes for Johansson is a riot

As parts of the movie was shot in Detroit (See when Ewan and Scarlett arrive in L.A.), I was looking for shots of the Motor City. In this sense, the movie did an excellent job making Detroit and ‘L.A.’ look really snazzy. However, in two shots of downtown ‘L.A.’, you will see on the side of one of the buildings, a giant mural of Stevie Yzerman in his Red and White Red Wings jersey. I don’t know if this was a goof, but it was interesting to think of why Yzerman would be on the side of a building in L.A. forty years hence

Overall, I give it a seven. If you are a giant action and science fiction fan, you should not miss The Island.

    “Never Back Down” Plot Summary

At his new high school, a rebellious teen is lured into an underground fight club, where he finds a mentor in a mixed martial arts veteran.

    Good Flick!

I saw the movie at a screening in LA a few weeks back, and really liked it. I haven’t really gotten into the whole UFC/mixed martial arts thing, but I thought the fighting in this movie was exciting. Very fast, very intense, and as movies go enjoyable. The editing and the stunts worked well. The story is cliche, but so what, as it never gets old. A coming of age fight movie has to have something going on between the fights, and Djimon Hounsou did an amazing job. The movie is definitely worth a look and Djimon is always clutch. The movie works for what it is a fun, action-packed and full of hot girls flick! I’d see it again.

    “Gladiator” Movie Review

    “Gladiator” Plot Summary

When a Roman general is betrayed and his family murdered by a corrupt prince, he comes to Rome as a gladiator to seek revenge.

If I Could Give This Movie 11/10, It Would Be A 12!

Gladiator! A thrilling tale of a Roman general who must battle against all thinkable odds to avenge the death of his family and restore justice to the empire. The plot is simple, legendary general Maximus Decimus Meridius, after many victorious campaigns and battles wants to return to his peaceful home in Spain, However the kind, fair and dying Emperor Marcus Aurelius wishes to bestow his title on him over his cruel son, Commodus. Commodus is understandably annoyed and kills his father calming the title of Emperor. Maximus is sentenced to death along with the rest of his family back at his home in Spain. Maximus escapes but is unable to save his wife and son. His loss of will to live makes him an east target for slavers and he is soon sold as a gladiator. He fights his way into the coliseum in Rome were he wins over the crowd and uses his celebrity status to defy the Emperor, to whom he swears his vengeance for the death of his family, after many battles and political backstabbing he gets his chance to fight the Emperor in the Arena

This is just such an amazing film, it captures every emotion possible in only the way an expert director can achieve, we can go on for whole scenes without the need for speaking, everything is told through the genuine body language and expressions. And when there is conversing we get such emotion and wonderfully powerful quotes ‘What we do in life, echoes in eternity’ Wow

The opening scene is spellbinding, showing the true gore of battle, the fight scenes are marvellously realistic, discarding the popular ‘pretty’ sword fighting for brutal aggressive force. The audience in the arena express every emotion, surprise, anger, and enjoyment. The cast is brilliantly chosen; we can really see Russell Crowe as a gladiator, in Commodus, Joaquin Phoenix gives us a man we can really hate, Connie Nielson shows real emotion and passion in the role of Lucilla. So apart from the spellbinding acting, scarily realistic fight scenes and the amazing script, what else can we look for? The music is just stunning, its exactly what we need brought in at exactly the right time, truly wonderful directing. And then we have the stunning special effects, we can really visualise the greatness that is Rome, the fight scenes really make you believe. Some critics have condemned the lack of historical fact, for instance an emperor would never fight a gladiator, and these comments cannot be denied, its true

But I think we can forgive them that one fault for such an amazing movie. Without hesitation I give this movie a truly deserved 10/10!
