“The Nightmare Before Christmas” Plot Summary

Jack Skellington, king of Halloweentown, discovers Christmas Town, but doesn’t quite understand the concept. add synopsis

One of the greatest movies I’ve ever seen!

I remember when I was in 3rd grade I became obsessed with ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’. I remember telling my friends at school my own ’stories’ of some of the characters. To this day, I still love it

Everything about this movie is excellent, great, beautiful, every positive word you can think of. The songs, the animation, the characters, everything! Let’s start with some of them

The songs are excellent and they should’ve been nominated for an Oscar for Best Songs, and it should’ve won! My favorite song is Sally’s Song, which is just too gorgeous for words. I also love This is Halloween, Kidnap the Sandy Claws (that song is hilarious), and Oogie Boogie Man, which reminds me of a Ray Charles song

The characters are great, too. Jack, who is wise and independent; Sally, who is gorgeous, sweet, and kind; the Mayor, who’s chatty and talkative; Lock, Shock, and Barrel, who are mischievous but friendly; Dr. Finkelstein, who’s usually grumpy all the time; and of course, the Oogie Boogie Man, who’s evil

The animation is gorgeous, not like anything else I’ve seen. The movie was made in the early ’90s and it has the most spectacular animation of any animated movie made in the ’90s! This has been one of my favorite animated movies for a long time and it still is. In fact, when I get older and have a career in show business, I’ll release an album where I sing songs from ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’. You’ll soon see! This is a great movie and one of my favorite movies of all time. Great job, Tim Burton!

“Up in the Air” Movie Review

“Up in the Air” Plot Summary

With a job that has him traveling around the country firing people, Ryan Bingham leads an empty life out of a suitcase, until his company does the unexpected: ground him.

    A Very Significant Film.

I’m not a particularly big fan of romantic comedies but after hearing positive feedback from the critics (Particularry Roger Ebert) and that it had themes of our economic recession I felt that that it wouldn’t hurt to see it, My expectations were surpassed and it is now, in my opinion, one of the best films of the year

Ryan Bingham is an socially isolated Corprate downsizing expert whom also gives motivational speeches on how to ‘unpack your backpack’ which is essentially a metaphor for people and things in life holding you back from your dreams (I can relate to his character because I tend to isolate myself too), When a young naive woman comes up with a way of conveniently firing people online with no travel costs, Bingham must teach Kendrick’s character the dignity of their work, being there for them rather than coldly firing them on a messaging device. Clooney’s Character was compelling and his performance brilliant, Vera Farmiga & Anna Kendrick also played convincing roles but Clooney’s cynical performance stole the show though as the film progressed he showed a more emotional human side to him which makes me feel he deserves a nomination for Best Actor

The best element in this film is the screenplay, It intelligently blends cynical pessimistic wit and emotional drama in a very unique way that I rather enjoyed, I hope it gets some recognition at the Oscars a win, if not a nomination

This film contains themes of human relationships, life choices, the indoctrination of technology in our society, isolation, family support and our economic recession and the themes are not blatantly shoved down our throats. This film is smart, witty and emotional. In my opinion this film is one of the best films of the year, 8/10.

    “Tropic Thunder” Movie Review

    “Tropic Thunder” Plot Summary

Through a series of freak occurrences, a group of actors shooting a big-budget war movie are forced to become the soldiers they are portraying.

    The next level

This is a brilliant piece of work. A comedy/parody that actually emulates at the level of its source material. Ben Stiller has clearly done his homework and here recreates many epic battle scenes. The photography is stunning and the direction is nothing less than awesome, for the first twenty minutes or so. Although the movie loses direction a little in the second and third acts it has enough great script and sheer momentum that it never falls below excellent. This really is a stunning piece of work. Look at what else is out there. This is constantly funny but also technically brilliant and very artistic. There are no ‘longeurs’ and every scene moves the action forward. The performances are spectacularly good. Tom cruise still looks slightly too ‘Tom Cruise’ but his lines are almost perfect. As a whole his part is 1000 times better than in that defecant Magnolia. Robert Downey Jr is almost embarrassingly good. He plays Bill Cosby playing an actor in a movie, but then he slips into a stereotype of all ‘our favorite’ Black actors. He is challenged by the one real Black guy and this scene serves to show that he is an actor, playing an Australian actor who is trying to play a Black American. Ther are too many other outstanding features to mention, such as the child general and Jack Black’s best work in years. All in all, this is not a mainstream movie. It is Something Else.
