“Mamma Mia!” Movie Review
“Mamma Mia” Plot Summary
The story of a bride-to-be trying to find her real father told using hit songs by the popular ’70s group ABBA.
Mamma Mia, Meryl!!!
There’s no better way to describe the HORRENDOUS experience that’s to watch Mamma Mia: Hitler must be looking up, saying to the pseudo-director Phyllida Lloyd ‘You monster, what have you done?’Everything about the movie is wrong. Just Wrong! Even its success, which is unexplainable. I can understand when those crappy parody movies, like Epic Movie, make their minimal share of money and turn profit just because they’re cheap (of course they are!). But when something like Mamma Mia makes 450 million dollars worldwide, you think ‘what the hell is wrong with the world?’And to think we have Meryl Streep, one of the greatest alive actresses of the world, in it? What was she thinking? ‘I need the money’, she could say. Well then, sell one of your grandchildren, even that would be less embarrassing. It’s not that Meryl is good in a disastrous piece of, err, ‘movie’. She’s also disastrous! When she sings, even though she’s got the vocals, it’s ridiculous. Worse than her only Pierce Brosnan. He used to be James Bond. Now he’s singing Abba in a purple spandex during the credits of the worst movie ever. Really? And when I mention Abba, not that I have anything against the band and their music. Though it doesn’t help them when actors started singing (badly), dancing (worse) and the extras join then (They pop out of nowhere! Frequently!) to present one terrible musical sequences after the other. You wanna cry when the music starts. And I love musicals! But this is the first in the genre where you PRAY for actual silence
I could keep going. The list goes on forever. You could write a Stephen King novel with the complete list of mistakes in this movie
To sum up: go watch it! Really! You’ve got to witness to understand!! And since it’s already a huge success, who cares if it makes a few more dollars from you? And it’s not liking you’re selling your soul to the devil. Meryl did that before. For the whole mankind. And now the world must end, because we’ve committed the ultimate evil and we must be destroyed.

“Fantastic Mr. Fox” Movie Review
“Fantastic Mr. Fox” Plot Summary
Angry farmers, tired of sharing their chickens with a sly fox, look to get rid of their opponent and his family.
I Liked It, But This Isn’t For Kids
‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’ is the story of the titular Mr. Fox, his family, his stealing shenanigans and his rivalry with the three notorious farmers from whom he stole. This film is an adult version of a children’s story by Roald Dahl, as interpreted by American director/writer Wes Anderson. It was interpreted in rather old-fashioned-looking, almost monochromatic (orange-yellow-brown) stop-motion animation. The attention of my sons were not held by the slow beginning and by all the talking. My daughter was not even interested to watch it at all
I, on the other hand, quite enjoyed it. The dialogue is funny and witty, and very adult. There is even a hilarious attempt to hide all profanity with the word ‘cuss’. I do not really like stop-animation movies (like ‘Gumby’ or ‘Wallace and Grommit’), but their pain-stakingly detailed efforts are appreciated
George Clooney definitely inhabits the character of Mr. Fox. He appropriately channeled Danny Ocean, especially in light of the heists that Mr. Fox was pulling, complete with smug attitude. Meryl Streep portrays Mrs. Felicity Fox. I felt there was nothing really special about it. Any actress could have done it just as well. Apparently the supporting cast is composed of actors who are staples of Wes Anderson films like Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, Jason Schwartzman, etc. I particularly liked how Murray voiced Attorney Badger
I read an excerpt of ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’ from the Roald Dahl book that we had. It turns out while the main characters and the stealing capers are similar, the rest of the movie (like the cousin rivalry, among others) is entirely Wes Anderson. I had never seen a Wes Anderson movie before, although I had long heard of his work like ‘Rushmore’ or ‘The Royal Tenenbaums’. But after watching ‘Mr. Fox,’ I think I will check them out.

“Gamer” Movie Review
“Gamer” Plot Summary
Set in a future-world where humans can control other humans in mass-scale, multi-player online gaming environments… |
a fun action movie worthy of being seen on the big screen
Most people enjoy video games. I know I do. Since I got my XBOX 360, I’ve been devoting a great deal of my time to HALO 3 on XBOX LIVE, time that I should be spending being more social. But in this dark and disturbing vision of the future, the world of online gaming pretty much destroys our moral judgement. I was going to play HALO 3 after I saw this movie and I don’t think I want to play video games for a week.
This is Mark Neveldine & Brian Taylor’s third film together, their first two being the ridiculous but fun CRANK and it’s way-over-the-top-but-so-much-fun sequel, and I have to say that it’s a lot of fun. This one could take place in the same universe as those movies. This movie is a combination of last summers DEATH RACE and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s THE RUNNING MAN. Here, we have Gerard Butler who hasn’t kicked this much ass since 300. He plays Kable, a convict who participates in the deadly game of SLAYERS where he is controlled by a gamer, played by Logan Lerman. Kable is close to winning his freedom but Ken Castle, played by DEXTER’s Michael C. Hall, is in no position to allow that to happen.
This movie works not only as a fun action film, but also as a social commentary on online gaming and how far it can go. There are some really disturbing scenes where a gamer controls a woman to go around places and have sexual encounters with people. It’s scary to think that one of those people who spends the day sitting in a chair in front of 6 flat screens will watch this movie on some website and see those scenes and have the desire to control real people to do whatever they want. The thought of it sickens me. Also, the fact that human beings no longer have any sense of morality makes this more disturbing.
Aside from all of these aspects of the film, the action scenes deliver. The scenes are really flashy and edited in a frenetic style but I’m not criticizing the film. I really dig Neveldine/Taylor’s direction here as I did with CRANK and CRANK 2. These guys are really good at making something for a small amount of money and still making it kickass. The film looks amazing as well. I really bought into this world and it’s amazing to see that being This movie does have it flaws of course, but no one should go into this to expect a great piece of science fiction. I think that it’s worth seeing in the theater but only if you watched the ads and really want to see it. Overall, it’s a great rental and definitely worth check out on BLU-RAY. It’s not as fun as CRANK 2 was, nor was it as ridiculous and over the top, but it’s pure adrenaline fun. It’s nice to see that Neveldine/Taylor have tried to do something different from the CRANK movies. They don’t have just one card trick to show us. I am really looking forward to seeing what these guys try to do next. I’m also curious to see what these guys would do with a really budget.
