    “Dogma” Movie Review

    “Dogma” Plot Summary

An abortion clinic worker with a special heritage is called upon to save the existence of humanity from being negated by two renegade angels trying to exploit a loophole and re-enter Heaven.

Great film, not up to the standard of Smith’s previous work

Those of you who are fans of Kevin Smith’s previous works (Clerks, Mallrats & Chasing Amy)may find this area familiar in some parts and unnerving and perhaps even commercial by comparison. Dogma sees fallen angels Bartleby and Loki (Ben Affleck and Matt Damon)attempting to make their way back into heaven via a newly instituted catholic dogma. The problem with this lies in the fact that if they are successful, they would have overturned a ruling by God, hence God is always right and if proven wrong would result in the undoing of existence. The familiar presence of Jay and Silent Bob is comforting and ensures that some of the essence Smith’s earlier work stays put, however at times this film dissents into areas that seem out of Smith’s depth. There are some surprisingly touching moments which implies that Smith gave a great deal of thought, similar to that of Chasing Amy. In general it is a great all round cast, (Linda Fiorentino,Chris Rock, Alan Rickman) and it is obvious that whilst writing this Smith had his tongue firmly in cheek.

    “Village” Movie Review

    “Village” Plot Summary

The population of a small, isolated countryside village believe that their alliance with the mysterious creatures that inhabit the forest around them is coming to an end.

Amazing movie, don’t listen to critics

The Village is an excellent movie in all respects, possibly not Shyamalans best, but definitely up there. I really can’t imagine why reviewers gave it low scores, I don’t know anyone personally that dislikes the movie at all.

The Village centers around a quaint 19th century village in the middle of nowhere. The inhabitants of the village are relatively happy, despite the constant fear of the horrible creatures in the woods surrounding the village.

The characters are extremely believable and beautifully crafted. Granted, there is some broken dialogue, and it makes one cringe at one point or another, but it is not common and does not ruin the characterization. Joaquin Phoenix is excellent as usual, as is Bryce Dallas Howard, a new face in the cast of Oscar winning actors.

The plot is a typical Shyamalan twist fest with a little romance added for good measure. This does not take away from the atmosphere at all, however, and is done very well. There are a couple parts that are quite chilling, but not SCARY per se. I definitely felt a tingle run down my spine a few times. The ending, if it hasn’t already been ruined for you or you don’t figure it out half way through the movie, will leave you in shock.

Overall, this is an amazing movie, I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone; you will not be disappointed.

    Cool Movie

I really enjoyed watching this film with my family. Granted it wasnt as good as the first but none the lees it was funny. Keenen Ivory Wayans is a good director and knows what the audiance wants. To see him make fun of movies such as Charlies Angels, The Haunting, and The Excersist, was well worth my time to watch this movie.

    “Shanghai Noon” Plot Summary

Jackie Chan plays a Chinese man who travels to the Wild West to rescue a kidnapped princess. After teaming up with a train robber, the unlikely duo takes on a Chinese traitor and his corrupt boss. add synopsis

perfect blend of action and comedy, the funniest western ever

This movie is a perfect blend of action and comedy. This movie stars Jackie Chan as Chon Wang, one of the soldiers of the army of the forbidden city in China. When the princess leaves and goes to America it is up to Chon to bring her back. When he gets to Nevada, where most of the story takes place he meets Roy O’Bannon played by Owen Wilson u’ll ever meet. He is a wanted outlaw and in an odd chain of events they become a duo. This is the funniest western, this movie surpasses Blazing Saddles by far. Blazing Saddles is funny but the one-liners that Owen Wilson drop are just so hilarious. ‘I don’t know Karate but I do know crazy, and I will use it’. Lucy Lui also stars as the Princess This movie is definitely worth seeing but you kinda wanna steer clear of the sequel ‘Shanghai Knights’ It does not do the first film justice. I have never been able to complete the second one mainly because it is boring. But salutes to Shanghai Noon the funniest western to date. 9 out of 10

    “Jumper” Plot Summary

A genetic anomaly allows a young man to teleport himself anywhere. He discovers this gift has existed for centuries and finds himself in a war that has been raging for thousands of years between “Jumpers” and those who have sworn to kill them.

    Insanely idiotic and vapid

I ended up watching this movie by chance and considering how hard I can resist to walk out a theatre to give the film a chance, I inflicted myself some serious pressure not to walk away

I honestly can’t think of anything redeeming. The storyline is so bland I can only picture a bunch of 14yo Beavis and Butthead teenagers writing this on a clownpointed Saturday detention assignment. The characters are weak and predictable. The so called ‘great’ life David has is boring beyond words and looks like a mere cliche of a pure teenage fantasy. The way the story goes turns him into a little unappealing selfish spoiled boring knucklehead. Oh lord, prevent me from cringing. CRINGE CRINGE CRINGE! Jamie Bell is an awful actor and so irritating, Samuel L. Jackson is out of place, Rachel Bilson tries her best but what’s all the fuss about these people? I’d damn myself for eternity for taking part even in a minor role of this movie. The end is just even worse, fizzling out into the outer space of vergognaland

Save your money, that’s the best advice I can give.

“The Devil Wears Prada” Plot Summary

A naive young woman comes to New York and scores a job as the assistant to one of the city’s biggest magazine editors, the ruthless and cynical Miranda Priestly.

    Loved it!

I thought the movie was just too cute.. If you’ve read the book, you won’t be disappointed! It’s the story of a young girl who moves to NYC to become a journalist but finds herself working as an assistant for a top notch fashion magazine, which is way out of her style league. The girl is a go-getter so she does what she has to do to make it work and ends up becoming the right hand (wo)man to the editor and chief changing her life (for better or worse) forever. The movie is definitely a feel-good and has you leaving the theater with a smile and a bit more confidence in your walk. I absolutely recommend it and apologize for not giving more details, but it’s too good and I don’t want to ruin it for anyone! Also, for you guys… a lot of males were at the special showing and I heard a few say they surprisingly liked it (including one of my ‘macho’ guy friends) so if you’re looking for a nice date or a surprise for your loved one, it’s a good pick!

    “Shrek the Third” Movie Review

    “Shrek 3″ Plot Summary

When his new father-in-law, King Harold falls ill, Shrek is looked at as the heir to the land of Far, Far Away. Not one to give up his beloved swamp, Shrek recruits his friends Donkey and Puss in Boots to install the rebellious Artie as the new king. Princess Fiona, however, rallies a band of royal girlfriends to fend off a coup d’etat by the jilted Prince Charming.

    Funny With a Great Message

When Fiona’s father and King of Far Far Away passes away, the clumsy Shrek becomes the immediate successor of the throne. However, Shrek decides to find the legitimate heir Artie in a distant kingdom with his friends Donkey and Puss in Boots to be able return to his beloved house in the swamp with the pregnant Fiona. Meanwhile, the envious and ambitious Prince Charming joins the villains of the fairy tales plotting a coup d’etat to become the new king.’Shrek the Third’ is very funny, having a great message in the end and completely underrated in IMDb. There are many unfair reviews and I really do not understand what these users have seen to dislike in this animation. There are many new characters from the fairy tales, but all of them has space along the plot, in at least one scene, and I liked, for example, the Cyclops with his beautiful daughter or the lines of Captain Hook just to mention two of them. I saw a version dubbed in Portuguese and the dialogs are excellent. The soundtrack is a plus and I loved ‘Immigrant Song’ and ‘Baraccuda’ in the attack of the heroines. My vote is eight

    “The Box” Plot Summary

A small wooden box arrives on the doorstep of a married couple, who know that opening it will grant them a million dollars and kill someone they don’t know.

    Would you press the button??

You have to see the whole movie to understand it, and get the concept that the movie is trying to convey to the viewer. To me I think it is an excellent movie. The movie would send primary questions like: Would you take the appealing move even if you have to kill somebody on the way?, or Would you take the next exit without taking in consideration that you will result in the fatal accident in the rear view mirror? The only bad thing in this movie is the unnecessary stretching of the story, which is attributed to the short story it is based on. The movie deserves a 7-7.5 points, but I had to use a 10 point vote because of the unfair judgment in some of the comments I have reviewed. So, Would you press the button??

    “This Is It” Movie Review

    “This Is It” Plot Summary

A compilation of interviews, rehearsals and backstage footage of Michael Jackson as he prepared for his series of sold-out shows in London.

    It’s All For Love

A strong feeling of love towards myself, everyone around me and planet Earth is what I left the cinema feeling. Michael was alive again for those two hours. This Is It showcases the King of Pop at his finest

As the lights blackened and the Columbia Pictures animation played, the theatre erupted with cheers of ‘I love you Michael’ and ‘God bless you Michael’. After the chaos died down the audience sat in awe as the King did what he did best; he thrilled us

From the rocking tunes of They Don’t Care About Us and Beat It(which I was particularly impressed with) to those real toe tapping hits such as The Way You Make Me Feel, Billie Jean and Wanna Be Startin’ Something to the beautifully emotional songs that really showcased Michael’s ability as a singer such as Human Nature and I Just Can’t Stop Loving You, Michael truly dominated the stage. Every single person in the theatre was singing along and clapping for and after every song. I was over the moon with the recreation of the Jackson Five seeing as The Love You Save is a touching one for me. The real fun came with the especially theatrical numbers that were Thriller and Smooth Criminal, both had me in fits of happiness. Then, after a dramatic and heart touching rendition of Earth Song, Man In The Mirror drew the whole show to its close, emanating love and Michael’s passion for people to make a change

I saw not one single thing, in my opinion, wrong with this film and I believe everyone will enjoy it. If you aren’t a Michael Jackson fan, while you may not appreciate the significance of This Is It, you will sure as hell have a brilliant time. And if you are an MJ fan, you will truly appreciate the greatness and strong sense of meaning behind the final documentation of the true King of Pop’s work, the legacy of Michael Jackon.

    “Dragonball Evolution” Movie Review

    “D.B.E.” Plot Summary

The young warrior Son Goku sets out on a quest, racing against time and the vengeful King Piccolo, to collect a set of seven magical orbs that will grant their wielder unlimited power.

This is cinematic filth of the highest degree.

My childhood is ruined. I have witnessed the death of a beloved franchise millions have come to adore and respect. This movie is not an adaptation, nor is it an homage of any sort. It is a mockery. A sheer insult to all those whom cherish Dragonball deep within their hearts and souls

Why does this video-tape recording (I absolutely refuse to deem it ‘film’ status) fail to such a devastating degree? It does not capture any of the charm, wit, excitement, humor, or bad-assery to be found in its source material. James Wong has simply taken the title, characters, and… errm, hairstyles, and has furtively stapled them to the bloody forehead of a poorly scripted, heavily underdeveloped movie about collecting seven golden balls that when gathered, will summon a flying dragon who will grant you one magical wish! How fantastically whimsical!Who cares

There is nothing compelling about this film. It’s painstakingly difficult to care about any character in this film, and that goes for Goku as well. Right from the get-go, you bare witness to a horribly underwhelming fight session between Goku and his Asian(?) grandfather Gohan, who carries a bizarrely flawless American accent.. go figure. The reason I imply confusion behind Gohan’s Asian ethnicity is that his grandson Goku is, well… nevermind. It isn’t even worth getting into; the casting for this movie made no sense. No consistency whatsoever. Disgusting

The dialogue is cheesy and executed improperly in every way conceivable. You want cheesy dialogue done right? Go watch the Wachowski brothers’ Speed Racer released last year, truly a masterpiece as far as anime adaptations are concerned. What is improper about it, you inquire? It causes you to cringe without the ability to hold back. Every single word muttered is a bleak reflection on each actor’s terrific inability to act in any way, shape or form

Speaking of form.. Don’t even expect half a thrill from this movie’s excuse for action sequences. These actors cannot fight under any set of circumstances. The wirework is so blatant and poorly imposed that I swear to have caught eye of a couple unedited out wires left in some of the more acrobatic scenes

Really? Come on, Hollywood. Come on, Fox

These sort of mistakes became a thing of the past DECADES prior. If a movie based on the almighty Dragonball franchise is going to suck this severely OUTSIDE of the fight sequences, at LEAST refine those few scenes (Dragonball’s saving graces, so to speak) into something worthy of admission price. Get a couple professional choreographers on the set to help out, if you don’t mind. (what a strange and unusual concept, huh!?) I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; if this entire project had been up to the legendary Stephen Chow, we could have had a sheer masterpiece on our hands. (refer to Kung Fu Hustle, what I believe to be the most faithfully Dragonballesque live action movie ever made) I shall continue no further. This movie does not deserve any longer of a review. In fact, slice this eloquently written verdict in half and it would still be far too flattering in length

I feel that if FOX wishes to maintain any credibility they have left with their audiences, they will hold back on dumping this atrocious landfill upon the United States’ precious array of cinemas. Of course, we know this is not realistic

    It’s nice to dream.
