It’s Great to see Angelina Jolie in the role of Lara Croft

I like Lara Croft. I like Angelina Jolie playing the role of Lara Croft and I liked all the special effects they used to make this movie. Movie is entertainingly good. I wished Jolie considered playing a third part, but she already declared she won’t do it again. ‘Two Tomb Raiders is enough’ I hope she changes her mind.

    “Titanic” Movie Review

    “Titanic” Plot Summary

Fictional romantic tale of a rich girl and poor boy who meet on the ill-fated voyage of the ‘unsinkable’ ship.

    The triumph of contemporary tripe

The tragedy of the doomed ship Titanic has inspired many books and movies. The battle between nature and technology always caught man’s imagination. The latest film concerning this tragedy in the Atlantic Ocean was written and directed by famous action movie filmmaker James Cameron. The story of ‘Titanic’ involves two fictional characters (Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet) from different backgrounds (one is a hobo-artist, the other is an aristocrat) and how their love triumphs over societal barriers and the tragedy of a sinking ship that they happen to be on.

First of all, although using a historical name, this movie had little regard to history. The plot was built around two fictional lovers, French diamond, and treasure hunters. The deaths of over a thousand of people on the greatest luxury ship of its time became a mere background. Many historical facts were simply forgotten. Where was the radio operator that ignored the iceberg warnings? Why was there no mention of the ship that was only 5 miles away from the Titanic but did not come to the rescue because its captain failed to identify the distress signal? Omitting these facts is an insult to the tragedy. And what was the point of flavoring this historical disaster with fictional cheesy romance when the story is already as sad as it is.

The overall plot was rather shallow; rich equals greed and corruption, poverty equals compassion and heroism. It is very ironic to spend $200 million to make a movie about how money corrupts. There was absolutely no human side shown in anti-heroes. It seemed like Billy Zane was playing a part of the devil. Casting was also very poor. If DiCaprio was 2 inches shorter than Winslet, you could swear she was his baby-sitter. The length of the movie was unnecessarily stretched to over 3 hours. First hour and the half was wasted on establishing the relationships between the characters that were known to audience long before they went to theater and the dialogue that was used to do so made it even worse. Hearing corny pick up lines such as ‘I see you’ and ‘This is my side of the ship’ generated more pain than the screams of drowning people. Also, jokes were too abundant and rather lame.

‘Titanic’ did involve some moving scenes such as the part when the musicians were playing while the ship was sinking but they were no way near anything original. The best thing about this film were its special effects, and that is the only thing that truly deserved an award.

Although this film lacked artistical value in overall sense, the public could not resist a sentimental story starring Romeo (DiCaprio), and so the movie became a success. Now it is safe to say that the industry will be less hesitant to invest large amounts of money in a single motion picture, so it seems that ‘Titanic’ did achieve something after all.

    “Finding Neverland” Movie Review

    “Finding Neverland” Plot Summary

The story of J.M. Barrie’s friendship with a family who inspired him to create Peter Pan.

Beautiful, Moving Movie with Very Few Flaws

I had heard that this was merely a ‘chick flick.’ Hey, my wife is the one who wanted to go see it. As it turned out, I went with three other guys, and we all loved it

Some movies entertain; some teach; some open up new worlds. This movie opened up new worlds. With each passing scene, carefully woven from the previous ones, it was like crossing yet another threshold into another world. The story unfolded deeper and deeper with each new scene, each layer adding not to complexity (the story is rather simple), but to the depth. Depp and the others (esp. the young actor who played Peter) easily lead the audience deeper and deeper into the paths of authenticity, healing, love, friendship and the triumph of inner strength. The other characters, likewise, garnish the central story excellently

The only flaw I saw is, I’m sure, a matter of taste and perspective; I felt the grandmother was simply too two-dimensional and not as believable as she should have been, though she, too, had some beautiful moments that truly added to the film

Having much experience with divorce (being a divorce attorney) I found the unfortunate relationship between Depp’s character and his wife believable to a tee: two people deeply in love with each other yet more committed to personal pursuits than tending the difficult relationship we call marriage. Ironically, though Depp’s character ultimately became the main caretaker of the four boys, by following the tender feelings of his heart, he allowed his marriage to evaporate by not following the other tender feelings of his heart

Nearly perfect. I give it a 9 out of 10.

    “Spanglish” Plot Summary

A woman and her daughter emigrate from Mexico for a better life in America, where they start working for a family where the patriarch is a newly celebrated chef with an insecure wife.

    Great Movie!

This movie was very good. I thought Adam Sandler was fabulous and it showed his ability as an actor. The pain the family was going through was definitely brought out in the film. When a film like this is released, a lot of people expect the actors in it to not do well. I thought that Adam Sandler really connected with the children, especially with the daughter, in this film. He has a good grasp on what it is like to be a parent, how to love children unconditionally. The tension between John (Adam) and Flor (Paz) is believable. They care so deeply for each other, yet they both understand what is at stake. Yet Deb (Tea) insecurities are believable when she has an affair. I thought the direction of the movie was great as well.

“Lara Croft: Tomb Raider” Movie Review

    “Tomb Raider” Plot Summary

Video game adventurer Lara Croft comes to life in a movie where she races against time and villains to recover powerful ancient artifacts. add synopsis

Jolie Stars In Special Effects Adventure

Director Simon West hits upon an action formula utilizing the female as heroine. Lara Croft stars Angelia Jolie, in a tailor-made role, as Lara Croft. Jolie is chic, sleek, and unique as the aristocrat turned adventurer. You must be an aristocrat to be an adventurer by definition; otherwise, how would you finance all those exotic escapades and cool clothes? Jolie performs all of her own stunts in this special effects-laden adventure that is long on action and exotic locales and short on character development and substance. It contains most elements of a fun, action movie: it’s fast paced. full of action, special effects, and form-fitting outfits. The plot concerns the recovery of some time altering artifact from an ancient tomb of sorts. Like most Bond films, the plot doesn’t matter much, as our eyes are fixed on Jolie and everything she says and does. Remember, the character is based upon a video game, so she’ll be able to do all sorts of things that real heroes wouldn’t be able to do. Jon Voight adds a cameo appearance as Jolie’s father, as he is in real life. *** of 4 stars.

    “Life Is Beautiful” Movie Review

“La vita e bella” Plot Summary

A Jewish man has a wonderful romance with the help of his humour, but must use that same quality to protect his son in a Nazi death camp.

    A Movie About Hope

Life Is Beautiful takes the premise that love and hope can survive the most trying of conditions, in this case a Nazi concentration camp. Most everyone knows this very popular and honored film, so I won’t belabor the story. Briefly, in my humble opinion, this film deserves all the accolades it’s been awarded. A near perfect film, my only gripe is that Mr. Benigni’s performance could have been more understated, especially the half of the film that’s set in the concentration camp. But this is only a slight complaint. For a joyful, life-affirming movie, Life Is Beautiful is tops. But be forewarned, as its principal backdrop of anti-Semitism and Nazi murder, it is not a very happy movie.
